Between Cara and Cameron Banks, these two sweethearts collectively have three degrees from the University of Georgia, two dogs named Sanford and Dooley and they both bleed red and black. There was no finer place in the land for these two die-hard fans to get married than Between the Hedges. This makes them the first couple to ever be married where the Dawgs fight it out in Sanford Stadium on Saturdays in Athens.
The couple writes that they decided to elope, but wanted to do it with a unique twist. They kept their venue top secret from family and friends, until they released their wedding website which told all about the two getting married on the 50 yard line in Sanford Stadium. Their website, Hitched Between the Hedges ,shows pictures from their wedding, their own personal Dawg Walk, their story and a guestbook they have set up for family and friends to sign and congratulate them.
No one calls for rain at a Georgia game, and neither did Cara or Cameron on their wedding day, but they didn’t let that stop them from saying, “I do” on their favorite field. This location was very special to them and they write,
“together we’ve spent five or six Saturdays here each fall, without fail. Here, we learned a lot about each other. We’ve laughed, argued, been disappointed, been excited, yelled until we can no longer speak, and even cried here. We learned how each of us reacted to what life can throw our way.”
Although it’s not a church, many prayers have been whispered and even shouted here in Sanford Stadium. Cara and Cameron’s wedding location is every Georgia fan’s dream, and the couple was so happy to have this opportunity. We wish the best to Dr. and Mrs. Banks. Go Dawgs!
