THEIR LOVE STORY
Heather and Josh met in January of 2012 at Valdosta State University when she was a sophomore and he was a freshman. They had always known of each other but had never really spoken. Josh was working as a bouncer at a local bar, and a mutual friend introduced them one night. “Meeting your other half in a bar sounds sort of sketchy. And I think I did 99.9% of the talking during our conversation…pretty sure all he ever said was “Can I have your number?”,” Heather jokes, “but it was just meant to be I guess.” When Heather met Josh, she said she knew something between them was special and unlike any other connection she’d had before. The two started dating soon after on February 3, 2012, and they’ve been inseparable ever since.
THE PROPOSAL AND WEDDING PLANS
Heather comes from a very big and very Disney-obsessed family (she has two younger sisters, two older brothers, a sister-in-law, and a niece), so when Josh planned his proposal he made sure to orient it around her family and “The Happiest Place on Earth.” The entire Hathcock clan was going on a vacation down to Disney World for Christmas break, and Josh was of course invited, so he figured what better time to propose? He chose to pop the question at the Grand Floridian’s Wedding Pavilion on December 26th.
With an audience of 40+ people, including Heather’s best friends who were in hiding, Heather made her way down a candle lit walkway to Josh waiting at a wedding arch surrounded with roses and a beautiful view of the Seven Seas Lagoon. As fireworks exploded in the distance, he knelt to one knee and began his proposal with, “. Afterwards was a reception filled with champagne, cake, dancing, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and Heather’s favorite Disney couple; Beauty and the Beast.
Josh and Heather plan to tie the knot in February of 2017 around their four year anniversary and exactly where they got engaged; at Disney’s Grand Floridian. Heather says they,”… love Disney’s “happily ever after” theme, and we are definitely little kids at heart, so this really will be a fairytale wedding.”
