One should prepare a set of detailed questions to ask the wedding venue coordinator before signing any binding contract. It is crucial to thoroughly consider the various accommodations different wedding venues offer. Before committing to a location, take note of these 10 questions to ask the venue coordinator.
Will catering be provided?
Everyone loves food, and one shouldn’t let any of their guests become hangry on their special day. Make sure the venue has adequate kitchen space for catering, or ask if they provide their own catering team. If not, then one needs to hire a catering company as well as servers that can be restocking food at all times.
Will chairs and tables be provided? Or do we have to rent our own through another company?
Most likely, the event space will have chairs and tables that come with the venue. However, if not, one needs to find an event company to provide furniture.
Does the venue have an alcohol license?
Bars are a central part of the reception party at most weddings. Make sure the guests have not only all the food they need, but drinks too. If having a wedding at a winery, check that the company is also able to serve other varieties of liquors, same with breweries.
Is the venue handicap accessible?
Ask the venue if they have handicap accessible restrooms and entrances to avoid any problems on the day of the wedding. Everyone should feel comfortable!
What is the venue’s capacity?
Small or large, one needs to know how many people the event space can hold. If making last minute adjustments to the wedding guest list, it is imperative to be confident that the new number of guests will not exceed the event’s capacity limits.
Is the deposit on the venue refundable?
With such unprecedented times, it is financially a good decision to make sure the down payment on the event or any other services are refundable.
In the chance of rain, will the venue have other options put in place?
It is hard to predict the weather, and thus it is essential to plan ahead and make sure there is a “plan B” put in place. Whether it involves tents, another venue location, or providing umbrellas- be prepared!
Is the venue available on my desired date?
Don’t settle for anything less than the date you had originally planned for! Go with your intuition and schedule your dream wedding on the day that you choose.
Is there a band/DJ the venue provides or recommends? If not, is there a suitable sound system?
Good music is a way in which individuals can let loose and celebrate the newly-weds after the ceremony. A live band is a great option, and also consider having a DJ to take-over when the band is on a break.
If having out of town guests, does the venue offer hotel room blocks?
If inviting guests and family from out of town, make sure they have a place to lay their head at night that is a convenient distance from the wedding venue. Also, consider providing transportation to and from the event to the hotel.
