A Bride Missed Her Own Wedding?

A bride named Katie Demko missed her destination wedding in Belize after Southwest Airlines cancelled her flight to the city. The cancellation left her stranded, causing financial losses of thousands of dollars. Demko had been planning her wedding with her fiancé Michael and was supposed to fly out of St. Louis, Missouri on December 27th. However, she was unable to make it due to the cancellation.

Mistry, a former bride, had to individually call over 500 people for her own wedding and thought this would be an alternative. She shared her experience on Instagram, where she asked others to weigh in on the etiquette issue. She mentioned that she had to individually call all 550 of her invited guests to ask if they were coming, which was “such a waste of time.”

A bride’s maid of honor had to miss her wedding, so she pre-recorded a viral speech that brought the house down. Another bride, billionaire tech CEO Ankur Jain and his bride Erika Hammond, didn’t arrive. Demko also shared a video showing how she crocheted her own wedding dress, saving money and even buying the needed yarn.

One of the girls in the bridal party didn’t drink because of her religion, and Dana accused her of being pregnant in front of her parents. She dropped out of the bridal party but was not pregnant. Demko said she cried all morning on her wedding day after missing the event because of a canceled Southwest flight.

In conclusion, Katie Demko’s experience highlights the importance of proper etiquette and the consequences of being late to a wedding.

Don’t Tell the Bride is a British reality show. The series is about couples getting money to pay for their wedding. The groom has to plan the wedding without the bride’s help. On September 29, 2023, it was announced that the series would not return.

Why can’t you see the bride on her wedding day?

This practice started before the 18th century, when arranged marriages were common. It was unlucky for the bride and groom to see each other. This was to stop the groom from backing out of the wedding before the ceremony. Many couples today take a first look instead of waiting to see each other down the aisle. Knowing the history of not seeing each other before the wedding has helped couples decide to have a first look. Wedding Planning Tips: Not sure if a first look is for you? What to do if you miss a wedding?

Make it up to the couple. You may have a good reason for missing the wedding, but you may still feel guilty. Call or write to say you’re sorry. Apologize and don’t make excuses. Lam says you should still send a wedding gift to the couple. Send it as soon as you can!

How late can a bride be?

Actually, it’s late. Your guests will get bored if you leave them waiting more than 20 to 30 minutes. If you’re more than 20 minutes late, it’s inconsiderate to your guests, your fiancée, and your officiant. If you were a guest, would you want to wait 20 to 30 minutes for the bride? What if it’s a hot day? Think about how your guests will feel if you arrive late. When should you arrive? Your ceremony should start at the time on your invitation. Your invitations should say when to arrive so guests don’t arrive at the same time you start walking down the aisle.

You can’t always guarantee you’ll arrive on time, but you should at least make the ceremony start time specific on your invitation. Venues often have weddings on the same day, so you’re running on their schedule too! If you’re late to your ceremony, it will be shorter.

Is it a big deal to miss a wedding?

Is it normal for a bride to be late?

There was no tradition of a bride being late for her wedding. It was made up and has been given much credence as “fashionably late.” I’m talking mainly about brides, but this also applies to grooms, couples, and even mothers-in-law. I’ve had experience with all of them! I think it’s fashionable to be on time for your wedding.

  • I think it’s very odd and someone creepy the best man has been all over this guy from the beginning of this episode and not just this article clip for perusal but the whole episode kissing him constantly even as she was walking up to him at the altar he couldn’t keep his hands off of him had to touch his back grabbing by the arm kiss him it seems to me the best man might have a secret cry on his best friend and it goes by how he tried to control the wedding plans even down to and throw in a big bit being drunk and I guess it’s called The Bachelor night and just screams weird

  • I’m a recovering alcoholic who got behind the wheel and rear-ended someone else. Luckily we both walked away with minor cuts and bruises, and I was initially charged with a felony. NEVER did I EVER wonder “why me?” or wonder why THIS was happening TO ME. All I felt was guilt for traumatizing the person I rear-ended and others on the road, all I could think about was how easily I could have killed her and how horrifying it must have been for her family members to hear their loved one was in a crash. I got extremely lucky in my case, luckier than I deserved. When someone tried to comfort me telling me I made a mistake, my response was always, “No, I made a decision.” I thank my lucky stars every day that no one got seriously hurt or worse. No, Jamie. This isn’t happening to you. YOU are what happened. Learn some fucking empathy and accountability.

  • As a former bartender those bars should definitely be liable too. Her BAC was crazy high!! When you see someone getting sloshed you always ask how they are getting home. Yes, they can lie. Ive cut plenty of people off who get ao mad they want to fight. It doesnt matter. This is what happens when you over serve and over drink. Jamie is a disgusting person and needs to be finally held accountable for her actions.

  • Update: The bride’s mother is questioning the validity of the marriage in order to inherit her daughter million dollar estate + a huge sum of money. This poor girl, perusal clips of her mother and you just tell how much of a narcissist she is!!! Even during the trial she refused to acknowledge her husband’s last name and instead insisted her maiden name is used. Poor guy, going through one of the most traumatic things you can go through and you MIL turns around and stabs you in the back.

  • My uncle was cut in half by a drunk driver while he was on the side of the road changing a spare tire on his truck. He left behind a wife and two very very young kids. The driver (mid 20s) was so full of guilt that he killed himself in his jail cell before the trial ended. He left behind a very distraught mother and siblings. I wish the driver didn’t end his life. My uncles death was enough. Please don’t drink and drive. It ruins so many lives.

  • Alcohol addiction doesn’t make you the most selfish person in the world. That is just her personality through and through. It disgust me to hear her talk just about herself in such a situation. And what absolutely terrible parents. It’s cases like these where I kind of wish there was a parent test before people are allowed to procreate. 😒

  • She is such a whiny brat. She’s like a child throwing a tantrum because their ice cream fell on the floor. The fact that her parents are babying her and enabling this reaction is beyond me. You chose to drink and drive. “Why me?” Because you made a really stupid decision. You didn’t know your limitations. You didn’t even care. You didn’t care about your safety or anyone else’s. Even after she got out of her drunken stupor and realized she killed a person and injured 3 others….no remorse. She is a selfish mean brat who can’t take accountability. Can’t even show respect to the victim’s family. Instead she thinks the world is out to get her. No you made a stupid mistake. This is what happens when you make dumb decisions like drinking and driving. She should have known better. You drink. You don’t drive. Period. You call an uber or your parents or your bf you were begging for. So self centered. No remorse is what really makes my blood boil. I feel so bad for Sam and her family. The best night instantly becomes the worse. Heartbreaking

  • Just saw a news article that the brides mom is now suing the husband for the financial compensation he received from the bars, claiming the marriage wasn’t valid because it was not consummated. Which is wild to me. And such an offense to the husband. A claim that the love of his life was not his wife. And now that’s gonna be remembered as part of her case instead of the needless death. Rip Samantha 🕊️

  • Samantha mother is fighting Aric in court over the estate settlement he received from two of the bars that he sued. Aric has offered to give Samantha’s mother a portion of the settlement, she wants the whole sum. She is arguing the validity of their marriage, as it was not consummated. People grieve differently, but this is a whole other level of greed. Her main concern should be keeping Jamie Komoroski in jail.

  • My daughter went to college with this trash. She knew of her bc they were in the same sorority, but she didn’t really know her. But the stories I’ve heard from her of her behavior back then is disgusting. This isn’t a one off. She just never got caught or actually hurt anyone prior to this. I was hoping Stephanie would cover this. Bc her perspective is always very interesting.

  • Former bartender here, waaayyy old, i bartendered back in the 80’s….we were taught and threatened if we served an obviously drunk person, WE were gonna be held responsible for whatever they did. I got cussed out, threatened, you name it, when i cut people off. Didnt care, and youd be amazed at how many people threatened to hurt me when i took their plates to call the police if they went to drive off….designated drivers are the way to go if you decide you need to get blotto. Ive been a designated driver for decades…those poor familes of the victims…that girl…no shame and as a grandma, the entitlement and the stupidity of those disgusting “parents”, makes me sick…

  • This is so INFURIATING. it wasnt just an “accident” she took the decision of driving while being drunk, she KNEW she wanted to get drunk and still decided to drive instead of getting an uber or calling her stupid parents to pick her up. she’s so self centered, selfish and cruel i cant believe someone raised this person to be so evil and disgusting

  • This case hit harder for me due to the fact that my boyfriend (21 y/o) was killed by a reckless driver just over a month ago. Of course the kid that hit him is claiming he was scared for his life because my boyfriend and his friends were riding motorcycles. How does that defense even make sense? I don’t know, but the victim complex reaches far. The sheer audacity to kill another person and then make it about yourself is so disgusting. I’m so disturbed by the driver that killed my boyfriend and I hope we get justice in the upcoming trial.

  • If you’re an alcoholic just sell your car. It’s what I did. I’ve never drunk driven but I thought about it. And the day I thought about it – sold the car within the same week. Destroying my life is one thing but putting others in danger, no way. Even after I quit drinking, sober for 3 years, I didn’t buy a new one, just in case.

  • I’ve been in recovery for 30 years this June . I truly believed that things just ” happened ” to me . Life back then was different – 5 year olds weren’t taught about CHOICES & CONSEQUENCES . I was 32 before I realized that my life was a mess BECAUSE of the choices I made . I thank God daily for the opportunity to start over — with more knowledge and a completely different mindset . Jaime will NEVER change as long as her parents continue to coddle her & don’t make her take responsibility . A VERY VERY SAD & COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY situation !!!

  • The thing that sickens me the most, is that they advocate for her to not to apologize to them, because it’s an admission of guilt, and that hurts the court case, and negates the money they’ve spent on their expensive attorney. They aren’t even parents that save the day. They’re just parents that pay expensive janitors.

  • i can’t imagine how hard it is to get a wheelchair onto a beach. getting a man in a wheelchair onto the beach, where he was just married, to grieve his wife in her favorite place on earth………sounds deeply painful. the sight of the vigil is absolutely devastating, knowing all those mourners were just recently there to celebrate.

  • I love the way you talk about cases and really paint a picture of who the victims were. Other True Crime websites do tell you a little bit about the victim typically but the way that you tell their story you really make me feel what they were like, to the point that sometimes I forget that I’m perusal a true crime article, it makes the gravity of the tragedy so much heavier but I think its really important when talking about cases; you clearly have so much respect for the victims and their families and it doesn’t feel like you’re telling their story for cheap shock. I love true crime, but the community definitely has its problems in these areas (never really been a big fan of people that are like giggling and doing their makeup while talking about these terrible cases) but you are truly one of the best websites in this regard, not to mention all the information and research that you put into this, not just talking about the event itself but things leading up to the event, the psychology of the killer, I can see you put a lot of respect and thought into this keep doing what you’re doing. ❤

  • My favorite thing about learning these things through this website is the empathy, and delicate nature she talks about these events… especially the heart breaking details…. It really gives you a more humane look into terrible events and actions of terrible people. Jamie is a rancid person with main character syndrome… I hope she’s never allowed another drop of alcohol or gets the opportunity to drive another car. Disgusting actions, whining like a toddler over something that could “happen to anyone”? Ma’am not everybody is stupid enough to drive impaired and cause vehicular man slaughter! Ridiculous…. And those parents need to get a grip, their child murdered someone and it was just “a tragic accident”?

  • i heard about this case from others but there wasn’t a lot of detail about it. people need to stop coddling their children because they never learn not to invade other people’s boundaries, they never learn to respect other people’s “no,” and they never learn the concept of “consequences.” like if my kid were a bully, i would be absolutely heartbroken. i can’t imagine continuously babying someone after they’ve wronged so many people. drunk drivers have no regard for life and this girl caring about her own welfare vs the fact that she murdered someone—absolutely abhorrent behavior.

  • I used to bartend and was always so worried about anything like this. We were a dive bar so had a lot of regulars. Took many keys away many times and our male staff would give the guys rides home. Us girls would take the female patrons home. Our small town didn’t have a taxi service and this was before Uber and Lyft. Drunk driving scares the crap out of me.

  • I, too, find the addiction angle offensive. Also, 4-6 weeks in rehab? I overdosed and went for 4 months. My ex stole out of a few cars and had to go for a year . And I better not see ANYONE talk about alcoholism as an excuse in this. I’m a heroin and meth addict in recovery with a family of alcoholics. Even if she is an alcoholic, IT IS NEVER AN EXCUSE. You can be high or drunk in your own home. This woman makes me blood boil

  • This is my first time listening to this and I want to say that I really appreciate the takes. Lately it feels like everyone wants to make excuses for horrible people and justify some serious evil with the most bizarre “logic”. I’ve had some heated discussions with people over this, or like the case of the guy that drove the red van into a parade, that make me wonder if this is real life. Thank you for the sane commentary 🙏

  • Imagine having to celebrate one of the happiest days of your lives with the person you love just to face tragedy of somebody’s carelessness and no sense or remorse or guilt but rather selfishness. Pure evil and the parents being enabling her and pampering her is disgusting!!!!! My heart breaks for the victims.

  • This tragedy happened down the street from my parents house.. the total disregard for literally everyone but herself is astounding..How can you ruin so many lives and yet you see the way she still acts.. she deserves the worst idc, going that fast down pitch black small residential streets even while drunk is just.. unreal dude. Complete negligence. She’s a murderer.

  • whenever i hear such horrible things u tell us for these articles, I always wonder how u can get through it without breaking down in tears. Im only listening in silence, knowing if i spoeak, i might cry… thanks for the banger but I hope ur doing ok! also, the date scares me. Just a year ago, the day right before my birthday, two ppl were killed after their wedding day….

  • this reminds me of a 24yr old woman who killed my friend’s friend who was riding his bike home from work. she left him for dead on the side of the road and tried to hide from the cops. she eventually was caught and only got 2 years in prison. her dad posted on his facebook something along the lines of “thank you all for the support as something really bad happened to our family” she’s already out after 1yr and partying with her dad. it’s so infuriating

  • If she gets convicted to the highest degree, she can get 100 years in prison. She’s on trial for one count of reckless vehicular homicide and three counts of driving under the influence causing death. Each of these counts is up to 25 years. If she doesn’t get the highest, then she is still not going to be going ANYWHERE anytime soon. And I hope she never gets out.

  • Honestly, I’m surprised more people don’t include the hell that Samantha’s mother has put Eric through. While everyone can be exceptionally understanding and empathetic to the trauma of mother’s loss (including the toxic behaviors that can oftentimes result from it)… it seems like people just ignore the absolute devastation that this newlywed husband has gone through and has only been exacerbated by his mother in law. However, what she’s been doing is on an entirely different level of awful. This includes trying to essentially erase his existence from her, trying to remove his last name from Samantha, trying to take their money, trying to suggest he’s out for money when he hasn’t done anything that she has (including trying to take all of her daughter’s money), putting out awful suggestions about him, trying to make him out as though he’s not a victim, making him out to be a terrible person for giving a single interview – far after others went on a long media tour and implied he wasn’t actually important in this story, and so much more. There is so much more trauma and disgusting behavior involved this. I feel absolutely horrible for everyone involved, but especially her widowed husband. I hope in time, he will feel seen and is getting all the support for the immense life long trauma and physical damage he will have to cope with.

  • I got a DUI when I was 18 and have driven drunk multiple times in my life. (Never again!) Thankfully no one was ever hurt. But my parents made me pay the bail, lawyer fees, etc and made it clear that it was unacceptable. I felt sooo much shame and I didn’t hurt anybody. It’s so terrifying thinking about easily this can happen. But if I had taken someone’s life I wouldn’t have been saying why me? I don’t think I could live with myself with the knowledge that I took a life. Jamie is a spoiled brat and her parents are just as bad. Currently sober btw ✌🏼😊 Edit: the reason I said any of that is to say that Jamie is exactly where she belongs. Yes it’s everyone’s responsibility to make good choices, follow the law, obviously don’t drive while intoxicated! And own your shit, take responsibility and do better. But this is not just a case about alcohol use, or even addiction. Most people who struggle with addiction are caring, loving people, who DO feel shame and empathy. The way she was raised it kinda seems like she would eventually end up harming others whether or not substances were involved because she only cares about herself.

  • growing up in South Carolina ( ive only been out of south carolina since last july) it was unfortunately almost an everyday thing to hear that someone had been killed by a drunk driver near by a family member of mine was killed a few streets away by a drunk driver that never got any jail time or anything i didnt even know him but it still hit hard with this happening so close to home but i cant imagine what the brides husband felt especially with how the mother in law treated him after

  • The way she’s so sure she’s getting out, and her concern ONLY for herself about how “people will be mean to (her)” The fit she threw too, this is just someone who is extremely entitled and has had everything handed to her and doesn’t care about anyone else but herself. It’s unbelievable how much she DOESN’T care that she KILLED someone

  • In Australia there are legal requirements to stop serving alcohol to guests they have reason to believe is drunk, so I am sympathetic to legal action against the restaurants. Ultimately the responsibility for the action belongs to the individual, but their actions do not occur in a vacuum and the decisions of others allowed them to occur.

  • Wow, this is hard. My boyfriends mother was killed by a drunk driver two years ago and we have been in court for over a year and a half finally going to trial next month. The guy that hit her has a very similar attitude and lack of compassion with the same. I did nothing wrong response. 😢 I wish we were able to get more news coverage but we do have a mothers against drunk driving representative.

  • Her family is definitely partially to blame for not teaching her right from wrong and they seem to be feeding her “oh you’re so innocent.” If they knew she was an alcoholic they should have taken steps to make sure she didn’t have access to a vehicle. She IS a threat to everyone because she drinks and drives. Shes going to get out and drink and drive. I get it’s their child but she was recklessly endangering more than just those she injured. Addiction isn’t to blame because addiction doesn’t say “hey drink and drive.” Alcoholics need to want to change in order to change, I’ve found this to be the hard truth, myself having been sober for almost 5 years.

  • 2 years sober since January (YES!!! idc if that doesn’t seem awesome to anyone else but after 2 relapses after 11 months, then 10 months, I’m STOKED) I was a horrendous alcoholic. I drank all day long, most people didn’t know unless they were super close to me because they saw how it all accumulated at night, and I can safely say, even at my worst, I wasn’t hurting anyone but myself. To put it into perspective: I have cirrhosis, I’ve been hours away from death from blood loss, my whole body is still affected and always will be, I drank half a handle each day of gin and at my least was half a pint every 18 hrs or so. That’s horrific. Even then, I wouldn’t effing DARE get behind the wheel of a car. Also, if she was really dependent on alcohol: she’d be in a hospital, not jail. She’d be in the hospital at least for a few days so she doesn’t seize out in jail. If she didn’t disclose alcohol addiction, she may not have been sent to a hospital, but she would have been in horrible shape. I dunno 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m just not going to be on her side like many internet contrarians because you can hear in her voice, her VALUES, etc. that she doesn’t give a damn about what hell she has put 2 families through. P.s. I just realized this sounds like I’m gatekeeping alcoholism, but that’s not what I meant 😅 I meant more that you can be a raging addict but it doesn’t automatically equal her attitude/actions.

  • I’m glad the bars are being held accountable too. I have my TABC license (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) you’re required to be licensed in Texas to serve alcohol which includes KNOWING WHEN SOMEONE HAS HAD TOO MUCH. Edit: Btw if the bartenders are licensed they can have a civil suit and criminal charges raised, however if the bartender isn’t licensed the bar is entirely responsible.

  • As someone who works in bars, it is indeed the law that bars are held liable if someone is clearly way too wasted and they continue to serve them just so they can make the money. If something is to happen it is something they can legally be sued for. She was visibly drunk. They knew they shouldn’t have served her anymore and they did it anyway.

  • Sam is my husband’s first cousin. My mother in law was at the wedding. We got married 3 months after this and some of the family at the wedding were at Sam’s wedding. We were absolutely crushed and couldn’t believe the news when we heard. It was unreal. My husband and I don’t drink so this was particularly heartbreaking. I didn’t know a lot about Jamie until this podcast was sent to me by my sister. I hope that Jamie finally takes accountability for her actions. “Why me?” Jamie was driving drunk over 65 mph in an island where the whole speed limit is 25mph. I hope that she serves prison time and finds justice for her action.

  • God bless Samantha’s family & loved ones.. God bless her husband Eric.. I can only imagine what he went thru and is STILL going thru, and Will be going thru for the rest of his life.. it’s so unfair.. he lost the love of his life, on what was supposed to be the most magical day of their lives.. ugh.. it’s heartbreaking.. 💔..plz post an update if possible.. ty for sharing this case. Stay safe fam ♥️🙏🥲✌️

  • Thank you for pointing out the difference between alcohol addiction and how it does not equal drunk driver… I’ve lived with an alcoholic most of my life – he won’t drive because he knows he needs to drink or will only drive in the morning – he’s aware how dangerous and has chosen to keep drinking so he doesn’t really drive – this girl is the worst!!! I also suffer from depression/anxiety (wonder why huh) and wouldn’t make the choices or act how she did… She is so narcissistic she doesn’t just have depression and anxiety she’s got mental illness like borderline personality or something she just doesn’t get it and it’s so pathetic an adult is acting like that…- but she needs a rude awakening cuz this wasn’t enough! Unbelievable

  • Drunk driving aside Jamie sounds like a horrible person. I think a person with normal feelings would be distraught after what they did. Samantha rest in peace sweet Angel. I hope her love ones and her husband find the healing they need to get through this. I hope Jamie realizes to the full extent of what she done. She took a life and changed many lives forever for the worse.

  • I don’t know if this is narcissism where you feel like you’re going through the worse when you’ve literally ruined someone else’s life even if you didnt intend it. What bothers me is her parents reaction that instead of teaching her to be sorry and realizing that the damage done to the victims families is nothing compared to her suffering and that she must be sorry and if she gets out she must sincerely apologize to them they tell to not be sorry. Imo the parents failed her.

  • As someone who has gotten absolutely shitfaced, you would have to have the utmost determination to get behind the wheel of a car. When you’re that drunk, it almost feels like all of your limbs have weights on them and you are just flailing around essentially. The lack of accountability is what make this case so infuriating. The fact that she keeps lying to everyone and herself about how many drinks she had just adds another layer of anger and disgust.

  • I once knew a narcissist that would always put his hands on his face and exclaim, “WHYY MMEEEEE???” I never answered but I really wanted to respond, “YOU! You are the answer. You are ALWAYS asking that question and the answer is ALWAYS YOU! YOU are the reason “bad” things always happen to you. YOU bring ALL of this on ALL by YOURSELF! YOU are always the answer to ALL of your problems!!!”

  • I remember when I first heard about this! It is absolutely heart wrenching. Seeing how happy they all were, just minutes before. On what was the happiest day of their lives. They were so in love. So blessed. So happy. What this person did to them is beyond reprehensible! Her attitude, behavior and demeanor is REPULSIVE & inexcusable!!!! ALL SHE CARES ABOUT IS HERSELF!! And that is clearly ALL her parents care about too!! I hope she spends the rest of her life in prison! Because she definitely has no remorse for what devastation she caused

  • You are living the dream though Mrs. Rotten Mango.. I’m a 50 yr old man who dresses like a gangster still in his 20s. • 32:20 Unfortunately I can relate to these parents in that regard. My daughter has BPD and she has moments of intense emotion like that. Once you’ve dealt with it for a long time it doesn’t surprise you and you just try to deescalate the emotion. But my daughter would never act so remorseless and self-centered as this girl in a situation where a woman was killed by her actions. Hurting someone else like that would devastate her.

  • I knew the story you were going to talk about within the first 30 seconds of describing this killer. I’m from SC and this was so heartbreaking. 😢 I also want to make it clear that this wasn’t just a golf cart. It was an LSV, which has a higher top speed, seat belts, and other features that make it road-legal, such as a windshield made of auto safety glass, turn lights, head- and taillights.

  • I had a coworker who would drive drunk. She would say she’s going out but her boyfriend will driver after because he drives better drunk than she does. She just brushed me off when I said neither of them should be driving drunk. Smh so many people think it’s not a big deal and everyone will be fine. It’s beyond sad that so many willingly make such a poor decision.

  • That’s absolutely true… I’m a recovering addict of almost 9 years.. I was an addict for 20 years. Its absolute bullshit that they are using addiction like that… These ppl blow me away… Wtf? Talk about entitled, nasty, ignorant ppl!…. She needs to do time. She is a danger drunk or sober because SHE DOESN’T GIVE A F ABOUT ANYONE BUT HERSELF. TY STEPHANIE!!💜💜🙋🏻‍♀️

  • I wanted to add something about serving alcohol at restaurants. I’ve been in the hospitality industry over 25 years and have specifically been in the bar industry for 21 years. I started bartending when I was 19. Some states will hold the bartender liable if the restaurant has done proper training to their staff to recognize signs of intoxication. I hope any bartender reading this is aware. As someone that’s been in the industry that long I absolutely agree that the restaurant should be held liable. I have had so many intoxicated guests show up at my bar from another bar and I have to do the damage control. It’s frustrating. I care about my guests. I care that they make it home safely and that everyone around them is safe. I also don’t think it’s that difficult to prove that someone was over served. If the restaurants have cameras then that’s even better. I have a Mart certification and I also have a certification nationally with helping places get liquor licensing and I will tell you that those restaurants either had to pay a big fine not only to the husband but also to the government. It is a privilege to serve alcohol hands down. You have to pay a lot to get your liquor license. There are two different kinds of licenses. One is beer and wine and one is liquor. Either way, both are extremely valuable. In the State of Florida there are some places that actually have to auction off the liquor licensing because of how expensive it is. The fact that the restaurants would even question that someone was over served tells me that they have done proper training and that the bartender should be held liable.

  • I’m not sure if you’ll see this, but this woman’s “fanclub” reception by some reminds me of a girl I went to school with. Look into Shayna Hubers, killed her lawyer boyfriend. We went to Paul Laurence Dunbar High together in Lexington, KY. The footage of her in custody? LAUGHING as she said “I gave him the nose job he always wanted” is absolutely chilling. It was the total opposite of how she was, and was received, in high school. Now, behind bars, she’s gone even crazier AND posts ‘cute’ and ‘sexy’ pose pictures FROM INSIDE PRISON, to a facebook page for her FANS.

  • During the pandemic I had a roommate much like jaime. Self-centered, rude, uncouth, Tantrums on the phone to mom and dad (including a bunch of offensive racial slurs,) emotionally stunted for age 26 and to top it off she’d go through my things when I wasn’t home. After I noticed stuff missing/moved around + overheard her tantrums, I made it known i didn’t like her- but she’d still refer to me in passing as her “best friend.” After about a week of her being there, she’d come home literally sweating liquor. Thank God she didn’t have a car. Histrionic Personality Disorder is real and it sounds like Jaime and my roomate had that in common.

  • The way she is acting is as if she doesn’t realize she took someone’s life ??? It’s honestly mind blowing how detached from reality she seems to be. Her parents are a huge part of the problem. All they’re doing is enabling her to never take accountability even if she’s taken a life and ruined others.

  • Lisa and her attorneys threaten to challenge the validity of Sam and Aric’s marriage on the basis that the couple did not spend the night together after the wedding, court documents state. After counsel, Hutchinson offered to give Lisa half of the recovery in the wrongful death suits in exchange for Lisa to stop attempting to prove Aric and Sam’s marriage was invalid. Through counsel, Lisa denied this request say court records.

  • Jamie honestly sounds like a spoilt child. She has 0 empathy and is only worried for herself. Her parents make it worse, as soon as she doesn’t get her way she throws a fit and that’s it, her parents are coddling her again. I feel like if she’d been sober she would have most certainly fled the crime scene.

  • Such a tragic story, my heart aches for Eric. It’s bad enough that the best day of his life turns into a horrific nightmare, but then the person responsible turns out to be an entitled self centered spoiled brat with zero remorse. Her parents should be ashamed of themselves. I’ve never wanted justice to be served more than I do in this case. She belongs in prison. Justice for Samantha and Eric!

  • The biggest problem is that she does not think that she has a problem at all. She believed she’s the victim to terrible circumstances that she had no fault in. If she doesn’t go to jail, and whether she goes to rehab or not, she will go straight back to drinking and end up hurting/killing someone else.

  • My mom’s sister was killed by a 17yo drive while drunk and high. The cops in Bakersfield CA released the kid into the custody of the grandparents instead of arresting him and making him do a sobriety test. I lost an aunt that I hadn’t seen since I was 4yo and my hubby and I were making plans to go see her and catch up on things and for her to get to know my hubby. The kid had a history of this and was a bad kid. He was never prosecuted. My aunt and family never got justice. I feel for this family as I have personal experience.

  • 40:27 I am 25 and if I pulled this shit my parents would (rightfully) disown me. If I was throwing tantrums in jail after I LITERALLY KILLED AN INNOCENT PERSON, SEVERELY INJURED 3 OTHERS, AND ALTERED THE LIVES OF HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE AND SHOWED ZERO REMORSE AND COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF SELF PITY I would have to change my last name because my family would say that I do not deserve to carry my families name, and they would be completely correct. How DARE Jamie act like that?

  • This is so horrifically sad. That young lady has ruined her life because she’s too selfish for her own good or anyone else’s. I can’t imagine how Samantha’s family and friends must feel. This is just heartbreaking. Don’t drink and drive, people. Ubers and Lyfts are a thing that could save you a very long prison sentence and a lifetime of regret.

  • It’s sickening. A 59 yo drunk in a truck hit my fiance and I and our two good friends that were on motorcycles. My fiance and the other man died and me and the other woman were severely injured. I lost everything, my job of 30 years, my health completely, my finances, mental health and the love of by life and our friend. It was his 13th DUI and was out on bail with no license from the last one. No insurance, so I didn’t even have that help. His dad always bailed him out. Sickening. They are not helping her!

  • “You have nothing to be sorry for.” WHAT?!?!?!?! I DARE her parents to say that while holding the crime scene photos in front of the victim’s friend’s and family’s faces in court! If I was the judge I would make them do that. And then I would tell her parents that they are the most disgusting excuses for human beings I have ever come across and no wonder they raised a spoiled, entitled brat.

  • My cousin has passed away, and Antie has also felt the gut feeling that you were talking about. She was crying for more than two days and she is still crying to this day. He was just on his way to deliver a Amazon package because he’s a delivery guy and two SUVs hit him from the front and the back and yeah she got severely damage that we can’t even see the body for the funeral. It was that bad and thank you Stephanie, panda and your rest of your family for helping me through hard hard times.

  • I’m a recovering addict. At times when people are in active addiction a person makes incredibly self centered decisions BUT when clean and sober realize how bad those decisions were. She’s completely sober in jail. The problem is Jamie, not the alcohol. Not the addiction. She is so self centered it’s alarming. The world will be better off with her in prison.

  • I feel so horrible for Samantha’s family and husband. I hope they have enough strength in them to see this to the end and get justice for such a careless crime… This crime brings up really eye opening points for society, bars over serving, parental choices, unchecked personality traits… Samantha looked beautiful and happy and i hope she gets justice.

  • Jamie’s screaming fits-I had a friend that would do the same exact thing, for literally 24 hours straight, sometimes more. It always happened when she believed things weren’t going her way. And she would do this over the tiniest issue. 1 time she completely lost it because the $1.00 lamp she bought at Dollar Tree didn’t work right. Most people wouldn’t even act like that if the lamp cost $1000. I think the reason she got like that was from her feelings of entitlement. Growing up, her mother did absolutely everything for her. She literally expected her mother to drop whatever she was doing & make her priority #1. She grew into a monster. Dealing with that kind of behavior can suck the soul right out of you.

  • I hope the victims family are doing good. For the women who made everyone’s life worse, why couldn’t you just get a Uber? It would have been so much cheaper than the crime you committed. You should feel ashamed of yourself for hurting other people, you’re not hurting just the family but everyone who knew the bride. Thank you bringing this story into the light, I really enjoy your articles Steph. Rest well Sam 🕊️💗

  • Alcohol brings out the worst in people — and we know this DUI girl is definitely one of the most privileged, spoiled, selfish, and PoS person. Thinking about her cat first before the people she actually hit. She’s also definitely created by parents that coddle her and don’t know how to teach their child what responsibility and being a good human being is.

  • “If it helps the case then I’ll do it.” (Discussing the rehab) That will be the key phrase the court needs to hear in the trial. Her “addiction” defense out the window. Her “remorse” out the window. Hope she goes out the window with it all. Let her have the chance to have rehab but not if it means nothing to her. Jaimie wants to be all “what good does prison do. It won’t bring the victim back” and she feels totally fine in believing that. She is such a shallow heartless bratty person. Her parents …. They’ve enabled this behavior but she’s an adult now. She should know better and at least have a soul. But I see nothing in her that’s redeeming.

  • I cried as i heard this story because this hit me hard by personal experience. I also lost a family member close to me by alleged drunk driver. And the worst part is thar these driver’s would be completely fine with minor injuries while the other person who was just minding their own business will suffer huge injuries or even death. This is why I don’t feel as bad when drunk drivers get injured by an accident. Condolences to the victims family ❤️‍🩹

  • I hate the fact she does the same thing I do when I’m having an episode or anxiety attack, which is consistently repeat the same word over and over. I hate when I do it because it’s habitual and almost like a nervous tick. One that I feel makes me sound obnoxious and annoying. And this murderer isn’t making me feel any better about having it.

  • Even though I don’t know them personally, my heart aches for Samanta’s family and husband. Samanta’s mother lost her babygirl and almost lost her son and grandson on one of the happiest days of her life when her daughter had just gotten married. Rip beautiful angel. I whish her family peace and calm. 🙏🏻 I can’t believe how the person who caused the accident only thinks about herself and, as far as what has been shown here, shows no remorse or insight. It’s like you said. Alcohol addiction is a sad thing but don’t get behind the wheel when you’re drunk. It’s a choice. Even an idiot, knows what can happen when you drive when you’re drunk.

  • I love how her parents are so involved in supporting her in her trial and for the time being in jail, but seemingly couldn’t care less to get their daughter a goddamn Uber, taxi or pick her up themselves instead of letting her drunk drive. As much as she is not aware that she killed someone, her parents seemingly fail to realize that their own child could’ve easily died that night too.

  • Mother’s intuition is a strong thing. When my daughter was around a year old I was sound asleep and my gut told me to get up and check on my baby… I’m glad I followed that guy feeling because I would have lost her had I not. She had come down with a virus and became badly dehydrated in her sleep to the point where her eyes looked sunken in. She had vomited in her crib and was laying face down in it and didn’t have the strength to roll out of it because of illness and dehydration weakening her. It was terrifying to say in the least. I feel so bad for that mom…we aren’t supposed to bury our babies, no matter their age. 😭 Super insanely sad story.

  • I grew up in the south near a popular beach and wedding destination where golf carts are street legal and that’s why the speed limit is like 25 mph everywhere you go. Yeah it’s super annoying and the residents complain about it during spring break when we are trying to get to work and school but it’s a small place and the idea of driving 65 down one of those roads even if it was seemingly empty makes my heart rate go up because I know that the moment my eye clocks a biker or golf cart ahead and if I’m going that fast I would have no time to stop. If you live in one of those areas you just have to drive slow and in FACT they make the golf carts legal some places because they know so many people WILL be drunk coming off the beaches, and they’d rather someone be in a tiny golf cart that goes 30 and barely fits 2 than a closed vehicle that goes 100 and weighs 2 tons. You can’t live in a small coastal area like that and not know this stuff

  • As someone who worked in the restaurant industry and worked along side many amazing bartenders someone that night should have told her here have some water and and something to eat it it’s on the house and called her a taxi this makes so so sad that she bar hopped 7 bars that night and “no one noticed” someone noticed and chose to not make it their problem. They have all the right to deny someone a drink and I have seen many employees do it in real time. A caring responsible bartender would feel guilt hearing this, knowing they could have prevented it if they had tried

  • I live 30 min from where she was killed, and I work in the wedding industry (I’ve done catering, and do floral now) it was such a huge story— people all around town spoke about it. Speeding down the road is a HUGE problem in that area, and there are so many bars near there. My boyfriend is within a bike ride away…. Whole city of locals were shocked. Absolutely tragic.

  • Why are DUIs a misdemeanor in all but three states? I worked in local news for three years, and currently I work as a legal secretary for my county’s District Court. I have written about countless fatal, near-fatal, and downright frickin’ lucky idiots who “just had a beer or two” and got behind the wheel. I have built the case files and sorted discovery for hundreds of DUIs that didn’t end in a multiple-vehicle accident. One notable dumbass had a BAC of .422. Yeah. I know. They didn’t even book him. The transported him immediately to the ER to make sure he didn’t die, why is he getting a misdemeanor?! I’ve seen idiots speeding 100 mph the wrong way down the highway with their lights off and a BAC of .21 get off with a deal to plea guilty to reckless driving and only have to do some community service. Someone could have died, what are we doing?! This case shows the “multiple DUIs” quota to qualify for a felony charge is stupid. She didn’t have any priors, and now a young bride is dead, two young men nearly died, and the lives of hundreds of people are reeling from the impact If you (collective You) ever drink and drive, or get high and drive, I wish you all the worst. I don’t believe in Hell. But I hope there’s a terrible eternity waiting for anyone dumb enough to roll the dice. You’re not just gambling your monstrous life, but others’ too. Shame on you.

  • UPDATES PLEASE ASAP!! I just read the most terrible thing…. I read an article stating that the mother of the deceased bride and the groom are fighting because the mother wants to gain Financial benefit from the lawsuits against the bar, by the way have been settled with three of the establishments the drunk girl visited on the night she killed murdered in Cold Blood this lovely lady on her wedding night! Anyway the mother wants to declare that the wedding wasn’t official since the marriage certificate wasn’t filed etcetera etcetera claiming that she has a right to the estate and money which I think looks awful why are these two fighting they should be coming closer together in a time of awful tragedy for their family. This man not only lost his wife he lost his quality of life and is undergoing numerous horrendous surgeries only to regain the faculties he had before the accident. To me the money shouldn’t be an issue I think it’s great that they’re getting something from the bars and possibly from the family of the perpetrator however I don’t think it should be a factor and they certainly shouldn’t be fighting to annul the wedding or fighting over who should be in charge of the estate this is just another tragedy on top of a horrible tragedy. You did such a great job with the story can you please do an update as soon as possible ❤

  • As someone who has drank and gotten behind the wheel, I crashed my moms car going 50 on a curb with my boyfriend and I’ve never done it again. All I cared about was my boyfriend and how my mom would feel about the car, I felt so bad and nobody was even hurt. To sit there and cry about how your life is over when you literally killed someone is so gut wrenching.

  • Does anybody want to get angry? I just googled this case and guess what, Samantha’s mother has challenged her son-in-law asking the companion money go to her instead of Aric! 😳😳😳 she has claimed they were never legally married so she should receive the money and not him. I don’t understand people anymore… How can a mother worry about money after her daughter’s tragic death? Ppl are disgusting.

  • My cousin was riding his bike at night when a car hit him and dragged him across the road. The driver then pulled back and did it again before fully driving off. The sad part about that was he was gonna come home after celebrating his promotion and said a few days ago that he was gonna finally have his life turned around after struggling financially for so long. I feel for Sam’s husband and family. I hope Jamie Komoroski rots in prison and in hell.

  • Addiction is an excuse for drinking but IS NOT an excuse for driving. Some people may hurt others in an effort to access their addiction but once you feed that addiction, even if your judgement is impared, any decisions you make are not because you have an addiction. It is because you are impaired not because you’re an addict. And you are responsible for everything that happens because of your decision.

  • I battled my addiction for years and years…I was NEVER as entitled as this girl. I was arrested several times and every time I accepted my actions and consequences. She does not have an addiction problem…she may like to drink a little too much but i don’t think it’s an addiction. They are using addiction as their way out of this and are making a mockery of addiction itself when it is one of the worst and hardest thing someone who struggles with it experiences in t heir life. She is just a whiny, insufferable little brat who deserves everything she has comimg….I don’t feel an ounce of sympathy for her….why should anyone feel sorry for her when she doesn’t have an ounce of sympathy for Samantha or her family

  • I heard about this when it first happened because I live near Folly Beach. Since I listen to your articles while I do other stuff idk if you said it was Folly or not and I don’t feel like checking but yeah. This was a very bad case. I feel for the husband and I’m glad he’s getting help from everyone he loves 🙂

  • not even 20 minutes in and i am holding back tears listening to this. life is so so cruel. how have the scales of our universe justified someone being able to have their happiest moment and then to have that exact moment devastatingly ripped away from them seconds later? i’m already such a paranoid person but my anxiety around this possibility grows the more time goes on. constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop whenever i’m just a little bit too happy. holding myself back for years of experiencing things i have dreamed about in fear of life simply deciding at any point to cut everything short. how are we expected to live happily when any and everything positive we experience in life can be taken away from us at any second?

  • My golden child sister and my mom have a messed up golden child and mommy dearest narcissistic dynamic between them just like this. Both me and my other sister, who are no contact with them, think that it will end with one of them killing each other or killing someone else. They just have no sense of responsibility. No sense of accountability. Yet feel entitled to everything. When you tell them no you would think that the world is ending or something. Beyond glad to have those crazy people out of my life.
