A New York Christmas Wedding Ending?

Netflix’s A New York Christmas Wedding is a romantic comedy film directed by Otoja Abit, featuring an ethnically diverse leading cast. The film follows the story of Jennifer, a high school girl who gets engaged to her fiancé David on Christmas Eve. As the wedding approaches, Jennifer encounters a Christmas angel who shows her what could have happened if she had followed her secret feelings for her best friend, Gabrielle.

As the film progresses, it feels low budget and lacks stakes at the end for her “choice.” The film features an ethnically diverse leading cast and a guardian angel, Azrael, who takes Jennifer into an alternate universe where she is engaged to her dead childhood friend, Gabrielle. The film manages to beat Happiest Season by a few weeks, and people have been waiting for an LGBTQ holiday romance.

As the film progresses, shallowness becomes more depth, with some fantasy aspects seeming too farfetched. However, A New York Christmas Wedding is finally giving a queer Afro-Latina her very own Christmas Love Story. As the wedding approaches, Jennifer encounters a Christmas angel who gives her the chance to see what would have happened if she pursued her.

Despite its many flaws, A New York Christmas Wedding is a wild and howlingly bad queer holiday movie for the ages.

What is the plot of the magical New York Christmas?

A Magical New York Christmas is a great Christmas read. Sabrina gets a writing job for Christmas. She gets a suite at The Plaza Hotel for the week to work on her memoir for Grayson Prescott, a well-known art dealer. The story is sweet and well-organized. It shows how relationships grow even though they take place sixty years apart. A sweet, happy surprise. If you’ve ever stayed at the Plaza Hotel, this book will make you want to stay there again. It describes the restaurants, shops, decorations, and suites. The area around the Plaza and other famous locations plus holiday activities make it a romantic interlude with a magical feel to the city.

Excerpt: Sabrina stepped into the lobby. Every time she saw the Christmas tree, she wanted to prove she wasn’t dreaming. “She was staying at the Plaza Hotel over Christmas.” Excerpt from A Magical New York Christmas by Anita Hughes.

What happens at the end of a wedding?

When does the bride and groom leave? A “send-off” happens right after the ceremony. Guests go through a line and wait outside the church or away from the ceremony site for the bride and groom. Then, guests throw things like rice, birdseed, confetti, petals, bubbles, etc. at the bride and groom.

A “Formal Exit” happens at the end of the reception. After the last song, guests take the bride and groom off on their honeymoon. Since it is at night, sparklers, glow sticks, lanterns, and fireworks are popular for a more formal and grand exit. How does a fake send-off work on a wedding day? A “fake send-off” happens midway through the reception. It’s just a fake! The couple doesn’t actually leave! Why would a bride and groom do this? If they have a fun exit planned and want most of their guests to be there, a “fake send-off” can be a great option (especially if the reception is late). Pausing the reception to “fake” a grand exit lets you take great pictures with your guests and lets those who need to leave feel like they’ve completed the day. You don’t have to book your photographer until the end of your reception. This saves money! Having an outline of events in your ceremony program or at your reception will entice people to stay until it’s time for the formal exit. If guests don’t know about the formal exit, they might leave.

What is the ending scene of Last Christmas?

Many Twitter guesses were right. Tom died in a bike accident last Christmas. Kate needed a heart transplant and got his heart. In their last scene, Tom says Kate will always have his heart. I cried! Kate was alone in London throughout the movie. (She also broke into an abandoned apartment by herself, but I’ll explain that later.) If you guessed this from the start, congratulations!

How does Christmas Wedding Planner end?

Before the wedding, Connor tricks Kelsey into meeting. He tells her he took the money to help his friend George (Joey Fatone) keep his restaurant. He can’t explain the money, so Kelsey leaves. At the end of the movie, Connor crashes the wedding and reveals that Todd got a servant pregnant. The movie ends with Connor and Kelsey getting married.

Reception Christmas Wedding Planner was panned by Pajiba, Common Sense Media, and others. It’s a bland, cookie-cutter, made-for-TV fluff that will neither satisfy nor delight anyone who has ever seen a movie before. Jocelyn Hudon as Kelsey; Stephen Huszar as Connor; Kelly Rutherford as Aunt Olivia; Rebecca Dalton as Emily; Eric Hicks as Todd; Joey Fatone as George.

Who is the angel in a New York Christmas wedding?

Jennifer and Gabby are friends in high school. It’s Christmas 1999, and Jennifer is about to tell her friend she loves her. They fight on the phone and both say they’ll never speak again. This leads Gabby to have sex with a bad boyfriend, which leads to pregnancy and suicide. As Jennifer is about to marry David, the son of two wealthy entrepreneurs, David’s mother’s bossiness forces Jennifer out of the house to clear her head. Her doubts about the wedding have more to do with her first love than her mother-in-law. Azrael (Cooper Koch) is Jennifer’s guardian angel. He sends Jennifer to a universe where David is married with kids and doing fine without her. In this universe, Jennifer lives with Gabby and they’re planning a wedding. They need the priest to marry them in the church they’ve attended all their lives. He performs the rite anyway, and the angel Azrael shows up again, offering Jennifer a choice. The movie A Christmas Wedding in New York is all over the place, making so many arguments that it’s difficult to identify the messages and appreciate them all. A priest makes an argument late in the action. He quotes a passage from Corinthians that denounces fornicators, adulterers, male prostitutes, and sodomites. He calls it one of the most damning, hurtful, and misused Christian passages in the Bible. He sees a direct correlation between those words and the rise of gay Catholic suicides. Writer-director Otoja Abit likes religious traditions, but thinks the church is hypocritical. The movie makes other value judgments, too. This movie says it’s better to be with your gay, middle-class love than with your rich hetero boyfriend and his parents. The movie mixes social commentary with a fantasy about a woman still yearning for her dead first love. The movie is likeable and makes love and inclusion look good.

  • I’m glad I’m not the only one who saw the dead dog move lol. I loved the movie and bawled like a baby, probably because I related so much to it! It took me right back to 8th grade and having a crush on this girl for the first time and not really realizing it(or perhaps just not accepting it…). It’s cheesy and I agree that ornament was so creepy! But it struck a cord with me.

  • The movie’s name definitely didn’t fit… it certainly didn’t have anything to do with a Christmas wedding in New York… being that I’m a straight guy and know little about the LBGTQ way of life, I wonder was this an accurate portrayal of their lives… it was kind of weird for the main character about to be married to a man only for her to go back in time to realize she was lesbian… I mean shouldn’t she have realized that without the guardian angel…
