A White Brid Hanging Out With Black Crows?

The Nuttall’s Woodpecker, a widespread woodpecker in California, is known for its black and white plumage and white wing bands. The Rock Ptarmigan, a small omnivorous bird native to Illinois, is known for its white plumage and soaring flight. The American White Pelican, one of the largest North American birds, is majestic in the air with its broad, white-and-black wings. Black-and-white warblers, such as the Barnacle Goose, are medium-sized songbirds with a downcurved bill and flat, streamlined head. The Magpie, one of the most common black and white birds in the UK, is one of the most common birds overall. Cattle egrets, small herons that hang around cows, feed on insects and invertebrates stirred up by large herbivores. The Pied Bushchat is a small passerine bird with black plumage with hints of white on its wings and underneath its tail. The Clay-colored Thrush, Turdus grayi, Mute Swan, and Laughing Gull are common white birds in Mexico. The Western Cattle Egret spends most of its time in fields, feeding on grazing cattle and picking at ticks.

The Forster’s Tern, a medium-sized white tern, is a common breeding bird in the northern US and winters along the coast of southern states. Both sexes have a black cap on their heads, while females display a lighter, more gray crown. The Forster’s Tern is also known for its spiritual messages, and those who pay attention to the cawing of crows will reap the rewards. There are 21 types of beach birds commonly found in North America, including seagulls, terns, shorebirds, herons, ibises, spoonbills, flamingos, cormorants, pelicans, and skimmers. The Northwestern Crow, a rare leucistic variation on the uniform glossy black feathers of the crows, is a rare sight among the flock of crows. The belief that black creatures are always bad is not proof that they are intrinsically malevolent or dangerous.

  • I had to share this story. I had my African DNA done and learned my tribe. I went to Ghana in the area of my tribe. The crows would come up to me and would stare in my eyes. I found an African lady of my tribe and I asked her what was our totem and she said “oh it’s the crow.” I told her crows have been following me and she said “it’s your ancestors welcoming you home” exactly what you said!😮😊

  • My reason for perusal your article, was an experience I had this morning with a large black crow swooping down in front of my car while I was stopped at a traffic light. It seemed that it was attempting to eat something in the road. In about 15 seconds it took off. It scared me because it was raining and I was on my way to my job. I am currently about to close on my brand new home, and I have been feeling anxious about this because I have a deadline to get my finances for my closing. All day after seeing this bird I was leaving things behind at work, and even had to turn around to go back because I left my cellphone at work. I hope this is a good sign that everything is going to work out for my good.

  • I was prying about making changes in my life across, from job, husband and financial wealth, I was doing affirmation. When I saw all the crows all over the place, I immediately knew that that was a spiritual connection and letting me know that everything I prayed for and I repeated the affirmation on that God is telling me that it’s it’s it’s coming to pass.

  • Thank you for this article for 2 days now roughly 3 I’ve been seeing black birds, I seen one with orange and a little yellow wing, then I seen smaller black birds fly across me when driving then I seen a big black bird fly above my car and I just felt in shock because I never seen black birds before just geese or just regular birds but I’ve been praying a lot and asking god for protection, healing, guidance, strength and to remove any unclean or unpure spirit out of me and my family mind, body, soul . I also been asking him to rebuke and bind any monitoring force or demonic spirit and send it back to the pits of hell and allow to catch fire and burn !

  • Glad I found your article! 👋 I recently encountered a group of maybe 3-4 crows that flew low directly over my head while sitting on a park bench. This isn’t the first time this has happened, I usually don’t pay close attention to nature and animals. But I felt a strong presence above me this time, so I looked up to acknowledge the crows. They flew in formation together over my head, similar to the Military fly over during the Super Bowl pre-game ceremonies . My intuition told me that something was with me, it was a reassuring feeling to let me know I’m not alone, and I’m being watched over. 🙏🏿☮️

  • For the first time in my life I granted my ancestors the permission to contact me and within 10 minutes masses of crows accompanied me on my evening stroll outside. In my prayer I had requested multiple things so I didn’t know what this meant but I knew it meant something. This is the first article I came to and I started crying tears of joy. Ohhh and it’s holiday season so there were decor in front of people’s houses and there was one big sign that said “JOY” as well. Wow prayer truly does work, I’ve been receiving so many signs that I need to fast and pray so I’m starting that tomorrow and this was another on point confirmation. 🙏🏽❤️

  • What’s amazing is that it was about 60 of them and they came about 3pm and stayed and was talking so I went outside to be with them and what I got was that I have a tribe of my angles/ancestors is covering me letting me know that there’s a spiritual awakening happening within me, letting me know that I was OK and letting me know that it’s time to up my spirituality and that I have a team a major team covering me. I began to it was cry was a happy cry of joy of having support or something unseen covering me which I always felt, I’m so grateful, that’s what I walked away with. When I heard you begin to speak what you believe they mean it was exactly what I felt. To hear you say it I got super excited and knew I was on the right track!

  • What a great article! When you mentioned that the crow can get in your line of vision and really get your attention, that happened to me yesterday. It flew up and perched on a close by light pole and cawed. I noticed it right away. It sat there for a minute and cawed really loudly again and flew off. There was no way I could ignore it! I’m trying to figure out my next steps. Knowing I have support gives me so much peace!

  • Hello, I enjoyed your article, I had my first experience with black crows after my mother’s passing in 2017. Days after her passing I saw 3 black crows perfectly aligned on the front gate at the entrance of our property. In addition I saw one on the front lawn 2 weeks in a row. I felt peace each time I saw them.

  • I have been seeing a lot of crows hanging around by my trees. I have seen posts going into the symbolism of the crows but I still have ignored it. This article helped me because now the next time I see crows I want to take a step back and really begin observing my surroundings, rely more on my intuition and try processing what i was thinking in the moment of seeing those crows. Thank you for the article.

  • The crow has become my animal. When my child died they sent the crow as a reminder of their love and presence. “Black Bird Fly” triggered this powerful symbol after my loss of Chloe ❤ stumbling upon your article when I decided to look up watercolor articles is also a sign or ” hello” from Chloe, thank you 🙏

  • Thank you I’m really tuning into my intuition I’ve been doing lots of scary ( SCARRRRRY) shadow work 😅 and I’m in transition phase in many areas of my life I’m actually excited I saw a BIG one today as soon as I got to work and I was like What are you doing here ??! 😂😂 I just stopped and watched him he was the biggest most majestic bird on the lot says a lot I know they have an infamous reputation but so do I 😁 more so looking for a reason or the meaning I’m really trying tuning in and trusting thank you for this article subscribed!

  • Hi Brandy, So happy to come across your website today. I have to say that this morning on my walk, I heard a crow cawing and looked and there he was, I think on top of a building, I said to myself hmm, I wonder what that means. so maybe tomorrow, Ill see another one. Ill keep you posted . Hope it’s good luck

  • Mine started when a crow started pecking on and flying up against my glass door over and over for 5 minutiae and then when I walked to the other side of the house it flew round did it on the kitchen window while I was in there, again for 5 minutes or so. It hat a partner but just the one crow was doing it. It carried on for 4 days the same thing. Then a week later it did the same. It started when I was doing meditation and a new moon ritual. That was around 5 months ago and ever since there are crows around me everywhere I go. Even outside Halfords (car and bike shop) in the car park the other day. I was sitting checking my phone and around 8-10 small, young crows landed next to my door and were walking around for a while. I also feel a strong crow spirit with me now. I decided I wanted to find out more and this article is wonderful. Thank you so much! 🖤✨

  • I am definitely attracted to crows. I remember it was a black snake on my patio and I was in my back room working. I kept hearing a loud noise and I finally get up to look and see a snake moving backwards up in the crack of the wall. I took that as a sign the crow was warning me. It was so strange how everything happened!

  • hey girl 🙂 thanks for the article. I stumbled upon you cause i looked up the spiritual meaning of crow gatherings. There is a small playground right behind my house where i often take a walk. I think it was yesterday when i walked there…somehow i had the urge to and saw this huge gathering of atleast 60-70 crows. It kind of fascinated me and i stood there and just watched from afar. This place is normally visited by parents and children…ive never seen crows there…or anytime in the past have i encountered crows. But i needed to look it up now 🙂 Do huge crow gatherings have another specific meaning?

  • I have lived in the mnts forever. I’ve had a murder of crows in several places. One followed me when I moved to the suburbs. He comes a few times a year and caws until I go outside and give him a gift. He also once sat on my ledge and used his tail to knock. Kinda freaked me out but I knew it was saying something. I checked all my doors ect. My cat was missing and we never did find him. The crows knew my cat. I do believe he was letting me know he was gone.

  • This was very interesting. I had a dream with a crow in it just last night and this is the first time I’ve seen a crow in a dream in a long time. To summarize, I was visiting a woman healer who had her own group (and this did not feel like cult behavior but legit helping) and after leaving my boyfriend in the hut, I followed another person. A young black woman with a Jamaican accent led me down a dirt path as I talked to her about my feelings regarding the group. She just listened. When we got to the end of the path, she laid down on a stretcher, grabbed a long cord that I thought was a flamethrower and I got sad, assuming she was going to die but when the curtain was drawn, it was merely black paint but I still assumed she was dead. As I cried, her twin, told me to never stop crying, that it was a sign of my love for people and then a crow landed near the dead woman and the twin commanded it to caw 10 times and then I woke up. It really was the strangest dream I’ve had.

  • I really enjoyed perusal your article. I wanted to share my experience with you with the crows. I have been feeling for the last month that this one crow has been following me everywhere I go. Then today I went to the park and on my way home there were 2 crows there on the ground while I see a couple flying above. As I was walking they were cawing and swooping down at me as I walk. One or 2 of them did it all the way home. Coming close and swooping up. I certainly new they were trying to get my attention. As I never had them do that to me before. All I could say what are you trying to tell me. Are you able to pick up what they may have been wanting to say to me? Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you. Becky🌸

  • What about when you keep seeing an outcast. To explain: Crows flock together. When they light as a flock one crow lights in a tree as the lookout for the flock. When a member of the flock is taken by a predator and the lookout didn’t sound the alarm in time that lookout is cast from the flock. Thus the lone crow I keep seeing

  • I have been vaping and decided to stop, but it has been the hardest 5 days to do this. But this was something i needed to get rid of because i know my connection with God is more important. So, yesterday i was urging to vape but quit and i had a few vapes that were dead and i did not want to buy one. Which i was urged to buy one but did not so this evil thought of course the enemy was like u can charge the ones that arr dead so i found a article on how to do it and was unsuccessful the first time. So here were are today i tried it again and was successful. I was parked in front of my house when i did it, and i heard a cawing noise and got out of my car and saw a single black crow on the roof of my house cawing. I felt scared as every fear and meaning behind a crow means death. So, i thought omg i am going to die, so i had to look up the meaning, and this is where i researched it, and both positive and negative views about the crow were mentined.” Then i looked up on youtube and found this article that gives me a clear vision. Thank you for your knowledge and experience on this topic. I see differently, and i know now what direction i need to go. God bless you.

  • I love crows I have one tattooed on my neck an I’ve been going through a lot things finally feel like it’s getting better my first crow encounter the Crow woke me up cracking a nut outside my room window he was dropping the nut from the sky to the ground an he continued once I came out i just watched I had a major life shift after that happened a positive spiritual one

  • Hi I’m a new sub, I’m glad I found your article. I had a weird dream that I was somewhere (not sure where) but there was people in the room and a crow flew past me. I jumped up out of my chair and it perched on the back of the chair. I am on a spiritual journey and have elevated in some ways. What could this mean??

  • On november 14, I had a surger . The following day was Wednesday, and my sister passed away that morning. On Thursday morning, I stepped out on my porch, and my front yard was covered in crows. I’ve never had crows in my yard before I have lived here for 6 years.I’ve never seen so many of them. They all flew away when I stepped out. I wonder what it meant. I was wondering if you knew.

  • Wierd experince after 6 am this morning. Went outside to get a smoke. There were these 3 crows above the electrical line at the street light hanging on the lines. I diddnt notice them at all until… The one in the middle was the obly one facing me started to caw really loud. I look around thinking omg this is so annoying he can wake others and kinda catch me smoking in my underwear. So i reacted by picking up a rock and throwing it high towards him…of course i missed. Right after a cat came to peep at me to see who threw the rock and kitty was startled checked me out and then ran his way. After that i looked up and the three crows were gone.

  • re: my premonition of death and crow; – I wonder if someone can help me figure this out as I have been searching far and wide for a direction about this even though my intuition is telling me what I think it might be. I will try to make this very short and brief I will put it in point form;\r -after a life tragedy I’m coming into awareness in terms of my connection to the other worlds, psychic abilities and more specifically connection with Raven / crows but birds in general too.\r -in my 20s (I’m 40 now)-, I used to go sit at the cemetery when I had a lot of anxiety from school. It was a peaceful place and one day I was sitting in my car with the window down, noticed a crow or Raven that flew in front of the car and landed on the grass by a tombstone and I was just looking at it, and my mind literally just had a flash of thought across that that literally said “, Grandma is going to die tonight”. I thought it was so random and I just thought my mind was going to weird places because I saw a crow and I know that there’s a superstition about them. My grandmother was not sick and in fact did actually pass away that morning the next day. No one could get ahold of her and my uncle had to crawl in her bedroom window to find her having passed away in her sleep. I was really freaked out about this and never told anybody and they would think I was crazy or lying.\r \r 2.I am a highly sensitive person and I’m starting to realize it now but ever since I was a young child I’ve always been connected to animals in terms of teaching people to save them and not hurt bugs etc (scoop up spiders let them outside etc) .

  • So I always get signs before a bad event happens to someone close to me loved one of u will it started when a bird flew into my bedroom window I went downstairs and a bird hit the back yard living room window few weeks later my little brother and friend died then I kept seeing someone getting shot in the head it’ll come randomly few years ago my step brother got shot in his head he’s still learning how to walk now I keep seeing someone getting shot up and last year another bird hit a window I was working at a security booth but the crows have been showing up crazy lately and my intuition tells me it’s about me this time I was laying in a friends house there was a crow cawing so loud it woke us up and ik it wanted my attention but I’m also moving out of town soon and going to start classes to heal ppl the holistic way so idk if it’s support or signs of my demise but I’ve been seeing sign for two years of w.e is to come im hoping to support because there’s a lot of spiritual aspects going on actually can I contact and speak to u?

  • 8 The most advanced ancient Royal elite super superior ancient civilized nations. Made sure all their loyal subjects were able to live and die to the highest standards of quality that were available during that time. and they can do this without anyone overstepping their boundaries. Because the end result of such a lifestyle. Is constant consisting physical mental financial spiritual progress occurring within each and every moment of life. That Level of care to oneself and others results in a truly positive force that is self perpetuating continuously. S.R.F.

  • Very easy simple concept basic logic if life is not free why the hell would death be any cheaper it’s not. So the question one may wonder is the spiritual cost to one’s own soul and spirit for having lived and died only using the smallest percentage of A fraction of the true potential they were first born with equally as reckless neglectful at the same time to the lowest standards of quality for so many years now global pollution has diminished the quality of life to the point where today’s people are living, dying and yielding the worst spiritual kickback that has ever been manifested since the beginning of life only getting worse. The polar opposite extreme to that is today’s people should be living and dying to the highest standards of quality which would make each and every moment physically, mentally, financially and spiritually beneficial rewarding constantly consistently S.R.F.

  • I had a dream that a maybe 30 to 50 crows was attacking me a and some friends it was a bad storm strong enough to take us away I was trying to protect a girl It was almost as if the storm wanted her I was strong and managed to get inside a van 🚐 they then then broke the window and started attacking me really bad almost as if they was pissed I was protecting her Maybe they are trying to tell me she is no good idk but it was lucid and I felt the attacks

  • I rescued a crow with a broken wing and dislocated leg, we named her Sheryl. We kept her safe in our backyard for over a month while she healed. Her family (a family of crows is actually called a ‘murder’) visited her everyday. They would bring gifts, food, talk and just come check on her. One day she just flew away. It was such a sweet experience. After that, we still had crows come visit us and leave random trinkets in our backyard. Gifts? We’re not sure but we enjoyed it. Crows have the intelligence of young children and actually have names, or specific sounds they make for the members of their family. Really neat birds despite the bad rep they get.

  • I am 70 yrs young. I had pet crows on the Farm when I was a teenager. The first was out of the nest and fed it with a Eye dropper! I use to feed him ground meat, vegetables and even mice! He was loose and would fly out in the field with us as we picked the crops! Very, Very INTELLIGENT birds! Curious and very Mischievous and a lot of Fun to watch with the dogs and cats! They were all buddies! Would say HELLO and HAY JOE! I Really enjoyed them and LEARNED a lot from them about Nature!

  • Crows are incredibly intelligent. They can sense if you’re well intended. If you gift them food they will inform other crows about you. One woman developed a special relationship with a crow. One day she lost her ring in the garden. A few days later the crow found it and left it in the feeder for her. 👍💕

  • My mom brought home a crow that fell out of the nest one day after she walked the dogs. We raised it in the home. Imagine we had 2 huskies, and a crow in the house. The huskies first tried to test the crow, it immediately bit my hus in the nose and from that moment on they became friends. He became one of the dogs at some point it was hilarious, a flappy little black doggo imitator that ate cat food. We actually became close as it would be very clear in its communication using loud noises. and it would regularly want to sit on my shoulder when we went to play with our neighborhood friends outside. After some time I felt it was time to teach it to fly by spinning slowly while it was on my arm until it fell off, he would open his wings and he would try to remain seated on my arm while getting used to the wind under his wings. And after a few days of training we noticed that a murder of crows started gathering in the tree in the yard, I suspected with my childly imaginationit could be his family as the tree my mom found him under was closeto our house. As if they were warching our little crow from a distance until he was ready. When it could flap hard enough after days of practice, I lifted it up and boosted it into the air where it immediately spread its wings and flew to the tree and all the crows flew out. One of my most amazing childhood memories, I was proud as hell even tho I was kind of sad at the same time, my comfort was that I am sure he came back a day later with his flock.

  • As someone who raised two baby crows, this melts my heart. When I was about 9 yrs old my big male cat had gotten a hold of two baby crows that tried to either fly out of the nest or perhaps fell out. Anyhow, one had an injured wing and the other an injured leg. My neighbor who was a natural healer helped me put a poultice and splint the injured leg with a popsicle stick. 🥹 I was the momma to these two amazing creatures for over a year. I would help exercise their wings by having one in each hand holding their feet while raising them up and down. It was a sight to see. 😂 Then, one day after about a 18 months they flew off together. I was sad and worried but they would come back to be fed every day for several months. Then they just stopped coming, so I knew my job was complete. I feel so grateful for that experience. It is wonderful to have such an amazing connection with animals you wouldn’t expect to. Some people think that crows are a problem bird but they don’t know how incredibly smart, sensitive and loving they are. When they are in a flock and one of them is injured or killed, they grieve just like we do. Crows are very special. 🦅♥️🦅 Thank you for this lovely article. 😊🥰

  • I love that so many people in comments have had an experience with a crow. I did too. When I was a kid about 8 years old I was walking to school, and found a crow. He couldn’t get out of the bush on the ground. His wing was injured. I took him to school and asked a janitor to keep him until after school. I went and got him, and took care of him. Feeding him worms etc. He finally got ok. I did the right thing my parents taught me, and released him out in our backyard. He flew up on the wires. He watched me for a bit, and flew away. I really thought I’d never see him again. I only kept him a few days. Anyway, a day or two later I was out in our pool. The crow came to me, he landed on the head of my lounge chair. I must have frozen and stared at him with my mouth open in surprise! I was so excited! I said, Hiiii!! How are you?? He brought me shiny things too. Mostly pop tops from soda cans. ( 1973 ) He came a few more times and then I don’t believe he came back. I’m 58 now. I’ll never forget our friendship. Ever.

  • I totally love the crow family ❤ My Daughter was due to have the machine turned off that was keeping her alive. While I was outside waiting to be picked up a crow from the neighbourhood sat real close for over 25 minutes since then we have built a lovely relationship. I must say with him there took my mind slightly away from what was happening 😊

  • Crows are amazing.. in 2020 when I was homeless there were three crows that seemed to appear everywhere I went.. come to find out they were flying along perusal… Jokingly nicknamed them the jekylls.. cannot ignore their Craw.. Somehow they managed to help me pick my campsite by coming down to the ground in the areas where I was passing. Turn out to be good spots.. normally they stayed high up.. As I would walk along if they came to the ground to look for food.. I would look at the area they were at.. it would be perfect for a overnight camp. Started throw them bits of food each time I got something .. it was a bittersweet ending when I got a place to stay.. rabbits raccoons possums crows coyotes Hawks sparrows Cardinals even some of the lizards and a groundhog has come to visit me in my trailer.. I’ve had two praying mantis come to visit.. a fledgling sparrow mistakenly get into the trailer .. I just stood there waving my hand near the opening every few seconds and she figured it out.. My time on the street during the first covid shutdown was quite an experience to say the least… I come away with a different understanding of animals .. a form of communication I can’t quite explain any words. Crows are awesome. All animals are amazing even rattlesnakes.

  • When I was little, my grandma would pour just a little coffee into my milk when I’d visit her so we could sit and drink coffee together while we watched the birds in the morning. Coffee still makes me think about her, coffee was one of her favorite things lol she’d have loved this. RIP Grandma Florence

  • I lived in a small town in Tennessee for 34 yrs til I retired from the U of M. During those years I observed a family of crows and watched them become friends with a number of neighbors. We fed them when necessary and gave them shelters and water when they asked for it!! They would leave us little?gifts such as flowers and coins. The original parents mated and raised a family at least 5 times. when the “teenagers” grew up they would either leave or become babysitters for the elderly parents. So calm and peaceful. So caring. And funny! Great sense of humor! And such wise teachers! I loved them all!

  • Crows, ravens, etc. are so highly intelligent, and excellent parents. I once watched the adult crows teaching their baby to fly. It had gotten trapped in a gated parking lot. They stayed with their chick and “talked” to and encouraged it to fly. It took a few days, and finally, mom and dad and baby crow flew out of the parking lot. Very human like behavior, the way they take care of their young.

  • This article ist so special, it brings tears to my eyes, we really do miss out on sharing time with animals, I do with a birdie that comes to visit every morning at around the same time, it knocks on my window, flies in, has a quick peck at my keyboard, then spends a bit of time on my shoulder, then has a birdie bath in a tray with water. and then, swoosh, off it goes until the next day❤.

  • I love these articles! Back in the mid 90s i raised two crow chicks when their entire nest fell from a tree in my backyard. No feathers at the time of rescue and i hand fed them every two to four hours around the clock. So as they got bigger, feathers growing and really not knowing enough info about them i just kept them safe and fed. At the point where they close to flight i knew they were bonded with me and my 98lb pitbull. And when they did take flight that first spring and summer i could not go into the yard without them being wherever i was. Even when i was mowing they were on my head or shoulders helping or supervising🤣my work. They would ‘graze’ with my dog and if i was not around my wife said they always were on the deck complaining about my absense. That first winter they were gone and then when spring came back so did they….with friends lol. This went on for over a decade. Smart, affectionate, and just part of the family. I never knew if they were boys or girls but they were my friends😁

  • The crow very much looks at him as a parental figure. Look at them, all grown up and still calling him like a baby haha. I’m so glad his students too, perceived him as a caring figure, so the young crow ended up in his hands. Always glad to find kind person in a happy environment, they truly deserve it. Hope they are friends for decades to come.

  • This made my heart melt 🥺 I seen another article of a lady who’s toddler would feed crows her food. When the mom noticed her daughter wasn’t eating because she wanted to give her food to the crows, she bought food for them & they would feed them together. The crows kept coming back & basically watched the daughter grow up & would bring her gifts. Once she went somewhere & left her camera lens (or lost it) & one of the fellow crows brought it back to her 😭 crows are amazing, intelligent creatures. I want my own crow friend 😩

  • I rescued at raven at age 12. My mother was a wildlife rehab worker for the area, so it lived with us for about 6 months until it’s wing healed. Once it was released, it spent the next 8 years coming back to our house every day. We could call it by name and it would eventually fly right into our yard like it was waiting to be called.

  • We had a crow who hung about at our works yard. He was called Russell and he would appear every break time and join us for breakfast, lunch and then afternoon break too! This was a really smart bird who’d worked out we were friendly towards him and he got braver than the other crows and would allow himself to be hand fed. The other birds would not come that close so, he got all the goodies. We were rewarded by him in summer when he would act really nervous before calling into the bushes, whereupon his wee chicks would hop out. It was such a privilege to be part of this experience.

  • Cute. They’re highly intelligent. A friend shared a story of how he was stationed someplace (army) and was with one other guy as guards. He made friends with the local crows and they started sharing walnuts with him, the birds would fly high up and drop them, then proceeded to eating them once cracked. My friend took some and left the rest for them. They started bringing extra, to share. However! My friend’s buddy one day seemed worried that my friend isn’t wearing his helmet. “You must keep it on because these crows will drop the walnuts on you head and it huuurts!” Turns out this guy was taking the entire walnut after the crows had cracked it. They were simply retaliating. So, yeah, they can tell people apart, as well as their actions.

  • I raised a baby crow!! Same here, his name was ‘Buddy’ crow. He would wait for me to pull down our street each day after work and fly next to my truck. He would hop up on my shoulder or hop to the door of my house. He and my big Mastiff dog would put a hole in the dog bed if I was late. He stayed near and would sit on the porch with me or out in the garden. He saved things in the gutters on my home lol.. miss that crow.

  • My father was born in 1913 and was orphaned by age eight. He was raised by his maternal grandparents in a small Southern Indiana town and his grandfather was the town barber. He told me there was a tame crow that hung out on the shop front for several years and it could actually say “hello” as people passed. No one knew where it came from but people would look after it and feed it.

  • Klaus’ trust in his human friend speaks volumes for the bond between them. I feed about 3-4 crows at the kitchen window. They appear like clockwork for bf, lunch and in the evening. At times they’re perched on the window from before but start cawing at the exact right time – dunno how they figure that out! They can make a racket if meals are late. Am from India – they prefer cooked meals and fruits to seeds! Fish, chicken, yoghurt and desserts are ‘hot sellers’ !

  • I’ll never forget the time when my brother (about 8yrs old at the time) came home with a MASSIVE crow resting in his arms. We thought it was hurt but nope, the crow just let him carry him… 😂 when he put the crow down he flew away perfectly normal. I wish I actually got to witness how he managed to do that!

  • I had a crow experience many years ago. Found one stuck in some wires and her mate was trying to get her out. Coming out with some wire cutters it took a bit but she and he seem to understand I was there to help, first I cut the wire holding her and held in my hand as I slowly got the other part off her. Her mate on my shoulder seemly perusal. When done she tested her wing before they both flew off. Couple days later I’m on a park with my friends when both of them fkeee down and each landed on my knee.haven’t seen them in 5 years but it was still amazing

  • 💜! There is a mama crow I feed each day, who s bringing her baby. We are developing conversation. I give them walnut, peeled apple chunks, squares of suet, pitted cherries (in summer), and I finally broke down to give her a couple of pea sized buts of almond coconut macaroon, which she is crazy about. Now she comes within 3’ of me. We have been conversing, and she listrns, with her face feathers moving up and down. I wish I could cuddle her, but she is wild. I am happy to share these little times with her, and watch her poke food down her large baby’s throat.

  • I had a very similar thing happen to me as well. I once rescued this crow who had gotten electrocuted..luckily he was okay and with a week of medication, was all set to fly. This fellow would come up waddling to me every evening once i was back from work and drink chai right out of my cup while being perched on my shoulder. I was amazed by just how intelligent these birds are. He recovered fully and flew away..

  • I like crows too. Years ago, when I used to run at a nearby school track, about 20 black crows would come watch me run and come play in the grass nearby. When I would leave, they would leave. When I would arrive, they would all come to join me. I like the noises your little Klaus makes when he’s playing. So cute!

  • I had a magpie like this, he was so gentle, every morning he would fly over to me and pick the sleep out of the corner of my eyes and groom me, the 1st time he started sticking his sharp pointy beak around my eyes I was a little worried but he was so loving and gentle I knew he would never try to hurt me.

  • Oh my God We rescued a baby crow a few years ago and we called her Clarisse. She stay d with us for almost 2 years and the relationship we had with her was unforgettable. She joined the rookery near our house and still drops in for food seven years later. She had some unusual behaviours that only we recognise so we know it is Clarisse. She came while my daughter was going through chemo for breast cancer and provided her with such unconditional love we believe Clarisse was sent to us for that purpose. To all those who think that crows are vermin etc. you are so wrong. They are the most intelligent species in the bird world. Thank you for sharing the article🥰🧤

  • He really reminded a time I had a raven, I found it on the ground surrounded by cats, the other crows where fighting for him so I left, later I came back and he was still there but not other crows, but cats where near, so I took him home and remember him as the best pet I ever had, incredibly smart and fast learning, super social and sweet, he grew up and was visiting us as well

  • I get great pleasure from perusal articles with people who have been adopted by a covid. I like the fact that they have the freedom to be a free bird, but choose to return to their human for some fuss and food. They are such characters and their innate curiosity and intelligence is always fascinating to watch. We are learning so much about birds and other animals via these YouTube websites. They inform us that creatures we share the world with, but in reality not little about. They have the same capacity as humans for friendship, dedication and emotion. Hopefully this will lead to more kindness being shown to animals who are very much influenced by our actions. Thank you for sharing your experience with your covid friend…

  • 3 years ago the 2 Crows and squirrels that visit my garden used to squabble over food (I feed all the birds and squirrels) but I gradually taught them to get along using food and they both now eat their own food and leave each other alone, but the Crows went one better and actually defend the squirrels from cats they figured out it pleases me and they like to give something to you when you give food to them I’ve seen them dive-bombing a cat that had a squirrel cornered and as soon as a cat gets on my fence or shed roof the Crows (along with their crow friends sometimes) caw very loudly and repetitively until I hear them and go shoo the cat away, need to as they have killed birds feeding, did you know a female blackbird actually screams? (I did save her btw) it’s heart breaking to hear. I do love the cats too and they get fed if they come to the front of my house not the back where the birds/squirrel’s are Crow’s are amazing, intelligent and thoughtful birds

  • My son lives in a city and he walks around with a small pack that he keeps some cat food in. He calls to the crows and throws food out to them and an amazing number will come to him. He has a special whistling sound that they have come to recognize and all he has to do is make that noise and the power lines and trees will be filled with his friends, waiting on a treat from him. They even recognize him and some will get mad if they see him walking outside his apartment but not feed them!

  • Such a similar story to my own. Alex fell out of a tree and broke his wing .. he was also abandoned. We were friends throughout our childhoods to adulthood. His favorite breakfast was pancakes.. he could never fly with his wing so I would place him up high so that he could glide a good, long ways. He loved baths, as well. They’re very sweet, curious, and smart. You’re still loved Alex!

  • Watching this reminds me of when my father had rescued a baby pigeon from its nest after we found one of the parents dead and didn’t see the other parent. She was still a tiny thing and we gave her water through an eye dropper and gave her baby bird formula, she quickly got bigger and was a member of our family. We had a cage for her to stay in at night, during the day we let her out of the cage for a few hours, we also had 4 cats and 2 dogs, but the other animals knew she wasn’t to be hurt that she was part of the family. The cats still left gifts of dead birds out front of the house for us like cats tend to do, but they didn’t go after her. She bonded with me most of all, I spent the most time visiting with her, petting her, she liked to stay perched on one of my shoulders and I would carefully walk her around the house and say let’s go see what dad’s getting into or whoever I was going to interact with. Unfortunately she flew out of the house one day when I was at work and to my knowledge never came back, we had her for 6 months and I still miss her, I just hope she found a group of birds to call family and lived a good life.

  • When I was 15 years old I rescued a baby crow and fed him soft cat food from a stick. His name was Sydney. He would perch on my shoulder and snuggle up to me at night. He finally preened himself and learned to fly. One day a few crows came by and he flew up to greet them in the tree. He never returned. I called for him all that summer . I never saw him again but I think about him ‘till this day many years later. I am so jealous now! Not really…this article made my day! Thank you for reminding me about Sidney my summer pal!

  • I love this story! Have a 16 yr old Cockatoo, enjoys the coffee, snacks, HOARDS the shower (takes showers with me), LOVES to be blow dried, great companion and wonderful addition to my life! AND (btw) my Avian vet states “this is the best cared for and healthy bird I have ever cared for!” What’s different? My bird is fully flighted, lives among the family, eats what the family eats, and is part of all of our lives (only sleeps in her cage at night the rest of the time she is socializing with family and friends).

  • Sharing your life with a crow is a richly rewarding gift. The one I rescued and rehabilitated demanded a perching branch beside my bed. He would hop down the hall to the bathroom ahead of me, and I would fill the sink for him, and the tub for me. He splashed away, and hopped out when I did. They give you so many amazing moments, and are just so clever…you are very fortunate.🖤🇨🇦

  • I used to live in an apartment building that backed up to a big park with lots of crows. They absolutely knew faces and would go crazy if someone they didn’t recognize walked by. When i first moved in I noticed that they squawked at some people and not others, so I’d say hi and talk to them as i walked by. You needed to walk through part of the park to get to the bus stop. One day I was walking home and heard a bunch of them going nuts, turns out there was a guy yelling at his wife/ girlfriend and the crows were dive bombing him and making a ton of noise. After several minutes of him yelling and swearing at the crows, he got into his car and drove off. The crows flew around the parking lot a couple of times then went back to the trees. Totally guard birds!!!

  • When I was a child a magpie slammed into a glass door of our home at full speed, resulting in a KO. My dad picked him up and brought him round. He couldn’t fly for a while so stayed in dad’s lap. Dad fed him and let him loose once he had recovered. From then on every day the bird – named Pepik – would come to my dad on call and get water, a bath, or just a pat. Great memory for me, this article is another level!

  • Crows are super smart like an elephant they never ever 4gt I just watched this an started crying so special so many people wouldn’t even take the time to help an care 4 such an amazing loving ❤ living thing his crow will come everyday until the day he is ready to pass away and his crow will only pass away with him if something does not kill him ❤💙💖 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THAT POST MORE IF POSSIBLE AN GOD BLESS YOU ❤

  • I was reminded of our neighborhood crow named Joe. He didn’t belong to anyone that I know of but he visited quite regularly at our backyard neighborhood. He could say a few words his name for one but that was 64 years ago. He’s probably still alive. What a Kool animal now that I look back upon that Time.

  • They are incredible ! Particularly the New Caledonian ones who fashion sticks or bits of metal into hooked tools to dig out grubs from logs, and even open little door locks that researchers made for them as ‘ challenge ‘ to get at the food inside a box. I used to enjoy perusal here, in Japan, waiting until stall vendors were occupied with something to swoop down & pinch the food placed on display !

  • The father of my then-girl-friend was a teacher, too. His students brought him this tiny carrion crow chick, it was very small and entirely naked. So, my girl-friend and myself studying biology at the university of Aachen, took the little fellow in and raised him (or her, we never checked really). We called it Willy. Willy had a knee injury, which was a slight problem at the beginning. But he or she coped well and was otherwise healthy and strong. When Willy was grown up to a young adult, he just disappeared. But my girl-friend’s mother said, she saw Willy in a murder of crows near where they lived. That little fellow was very much fun and very cute. When Willy was still too small to spend the nights outside, he sat on the couch back in the living room with my girl-friend’s parents perusal TV 🙂

  • I found a grown crow just sitting on the ground next to a wall on my way to the station. I took him (by foot) to the vet and on the way I spoke to him (told him I was taking him to a place where people would look after him if he had an injury, I told him not to be worried, that we were nearly there, etc). When I got to the vet, I put him on the counter (between the receptionist and myself) to explain what happened. He came closer to me and jumped on my fingers. I was so surprised because he was a wild bird and I never expected that!! In the end the vet checked him up and he was not injured, probably more shell shocked than any anything else and he was taken to a sanctuary to be released.

  • When I was in the RAAF and lived on the base (in a house) I adopted, or he adopted me when the dog’s owner was posted to another base. Also had a resident magpie which always played chasers with our cat. As our house was the start of all the officers house, ie me LAC then on either side to the road going up to the base COs residence so there were about 6 to 8 dogs living in the top end of the road. My dog would go up the road and get involved with these dogs. The magpie would also get involved disappearing into the thick of the fight, get thrown out and would then go running back into the fight. Unfortunately, one day the dog disappeared. I had been warned that he had caused a sabre to have abort its land and had to go around again as the dog was chasing birds on the tarmac. No one ever told me what happened to the dog but I was certain that he had been shot. The magpie stayed with us until I was posted. Just on dusk he would arrive to be hand fed

  • Since dogs have been living with humans for a long time, they are said to be able to read our emotions. Many dog owners may have some idea of what they are feeling, such as going to the side of someone who is sad and comforting them with a lick, or wagging their tails vigorously when they are happy. Dogs have excellent senses and cognitive abilities, and can distinguish the slightest sounds of breathing, heartbeats, and tone of voice, and respond to human emotions

  • Very nice to see. My wife and I rescued two starving baby Jackdaws 3 years ago, they were much the same, landing on us and on our table pinching bits of food. Now though they have a youngster with them, so we have 3 around now, they are a bit more cautious, don’t land on us anymore, but still want feeding and will come within 6’ of us.

  • These stories are so beautiful. I really love how grownups (usually busy chasing materialistic stuff) have these lives of love and care for a tiny fella, having the idea and the will to go so far as to make decaf, prepare baths, etc. It’s so wholesome to watch a human having such a meaningful and special life and deciding to make an animal’s life so much better… I absolutely adore it. I also love the fact that when you give love and care so altruistically to another sentient being (animal or person), you also get to experience deep meaning, love & peace yourself.

  • I’ve never realized how smart crows were until I went to Boston, Mass…\r While walking down the road, I saw a chicken standing on the shoulder…just standing there…\r I wondered why it didn’t cross the road…and then I heard it…\r The crow, flying high above, crying out its warning: “Cah..! Cah..! Cah..!!!”

  • I’m struck by the closeness and tenderness the crow shows to the human. We don’t typically see them “in comfort zone” and with their guard down. So, this is really amazing. I’d have never expected to see this much affection from a bird of any kind. Truly remarkable! But LOL he named the crow “Klaus”.

  • When we were kids riding our bikes around, one day a crow flew down and landed on the ground beside us. He didn’t seem afraid but more curious. Then he jumped up on my handle bars. We were all very amazed by his behavior. We started riding our bikes and he flew along beside us. I put out my arm and he landed on my arm while i rode. He hung out with us for a while and then flew off. The next day we saw him again and he did exactly the same things he had done the day before. I guess he could feel we all had friendly energy. After 2 days of our crow encounter we never saw him again.
