Turning an ordinary barn into a stunning wedding venue involves several steps, including decluttering the space, dividing it inside the barn, ensuring maximum comfort, considering the number of invitees, choosing the right type of decor, and creating more intimate spaces with barrels. Barns can be styled for sophisticated events or laid-back ones, making them an ideal choice for any bride. However, turning a farm into a wedding venue requires different planning and considerations compared to a hall or function room.
To determine if a barn is right for you, reach out to local wedding vendors, create social media accounts, list your barn on websites, and consider lighting as a key component. Combining rustic decorations with vintage elements like antique chandeliers can give your barn venue a cozy vibe.
Rezoning your agricultural land for use as a wedding venue is only the start. Before you can host events, you may have to consider the advantages of your location, such as having ample on-site parking and zoning laws. If you want to turn your barn into a commercial event space, you will likely need to apply for rezoned building permission.
The costs for turning your land into a wedding venue when you already have existing structures will vary, so it’s important to research and understand the regulations before advertising your barn as a dream wedding venue. Once you’ve determined that the barn is suitable and started the permit process, you can think about turning your property into a wedding venue.

📹 Transforming A 100+ Year Old Barn Into A Wedding Venue
Hannah’s sister, Leah had the idea of getting married on the family farm and have the reception in the working barn that was filled …
Oh man, I can sympathise with all of the emotions in this article! We had a 200 person wedding in a friend’s backyard (and it poured most of the day), and we asked allll of the same questions about water and bathrooms and electricity. The day before was also the most hectic day of my life, and a very small part of me wishes we had just done a venue that took care of everything, but then the day of the wedding was so so so worth it! Getting to celebrate exactly how you want in the venue you created is beyond words! The biggest perk for us was getting to be as loud as we wanted for as long as we wanted. I’ve been to so many weddings where you get kicked out way too early or only get to dance for an hour, and it’s just not worth the time, money, and hassle of planning a wedding if you don’t get to fully enjoy it
The humble country farmers who love each other and prove it with hardwork for family! This article is a true joy! The barn and your property is like a piece of heaven on earth. You are blessed! I agree with mom and dad though, it’s time for another union to continue family legacy on this beautiful piece of land.
Square bales..the bane of my existence to this day at at 24…”Yeah dad, I have a few hours free on Saturday to come help out” and that turns into an entire weekend lol. Oh well, it’s fun to spend some time with my dad and to catch up. You all did beautiful work turning the barn into a fantastic wedding venue, the creativity never ceases to amaze.
So many of these old barns are in ruins now with their roofs caved in, amazing this barn is in the great shape that it’s in, but then to make it wedding ready is a whole new level, congrats on all the hard work, family that pulled together to make this dream a reality and to the newly weds, God Bless you all!
I don’t know how I stumbled onto your website but your articles have been fantastic inspiration for us to update our home. perusal every episode has provided great distraction in these scary days of quarantine. You have no idea the comfort you have given me in recent weeks and for that I sent sincere thanks. We love our neighbors to the north!
This was in my recommendation, clicked on it and #1)editing skills🔥#2)soooo much work#3)love the girls just kicked that wood outa there#4)saw the vision and went for it…this is soooo special and romantic✨❤️that’s sooo epic..use the barn and rent it out!could be a new business?!?!You2 are such a cute couple..Congratulations on your Wedding✨❤️🙏👰🤵🥂🍾
Fucking Amazing!! Sorry for the language but fuck it looks fantastic. Well done AGAIN for the editing. I have watched you two renovate your house for the last eighteen months and perusal you work with your sister and bring a wedding reception to life was awesome. Thumbs up thumbs up. I’m will not be surprised if this doesn’t go viral because its so unique….
Haahahahhaa! 🤣 this is like looking at a near exact version of me and my husbands wedding! We got married 2016 in a church and had the venue in a barn on my husbands family farm. In Finland though. We didn’t really understand the amount of work it would need, and we worked so much. We were so lucky to have a great group of friends and family helping out. A lot of work, but it was worth it!
This is just so beautiful. Thinking how it adds to the charm and history of the farm: it’s been in Hanna’s family, seen the hard work of a barn and now how the family continues around it, getting married in a place that feels like home.Loved the transformation (so much work, but it was so worth it!) also, gorgeous pictures of the wedding (and some more to add to the farm history!)
By far one of my favorite YouTube articles! You do such an amazing job sharing a story from beginning to end. From the before and after pictures of the barn, the interview with Leah and Ryan and Leah’s parents, footage of all the hard work it took to get the barn clean, the drone footage of the entire farm……….it’s perfect! Thank you so much for good old fashion wholesome articles!
PURE JOY!!!! Congrats to the happy couple, but come on, your editing, the kind of shots you took, the music, did I mention THE MUSIC? That alone is its own character in your magical world you create. The drone shot rising up and over the hill revealing the house…I don’t know where to stop so just know how much JOY you really bring to us. I want to be first in line at the movie you someday shoot, people would pay to see that. Love you guys, until the next masterpiece you reveal…
Wow! That was a LOT of work, but so much fun to watch. No wonder we had to wait so long for another reno article. lol You’re a great storyteller. The wedding was beautiful! That barn turned out so perfect – the floor was amazing! Who knew it would be in such good shape under all that dust, dirt, and hay?! I sure hope you get to use it again before dad fills it back up. 🤭 If you can rent it out even for one full wedding season (spring/summer/fall) you could probably cover all your expenses to do so AND pay for the rest of your home renovations. And maybe an engagement ring, too. No pressure at all from your 147K subscribers. 🤣😂🤣😂
So hi you lovely two! You’re having one of my most loved websites here on YT and since I come back to your website every few months and basically watch the whole website over and over again i thought why not let you know. You are such a lovely couple – I mean small family by now, hope there will be new articles soon!!! 💛💛💛
What a fabulous job. Such a huge undertaking! Fair play to all the support team as well. I’m sure tempers got frayed with wedding nerves and all. Well done everyone and congratulations to the newly weds. Here’s to a long, happy life together. May the happiest day of your past be the saddest day of your future. Nice wee hint there at the end. Love it.
I would have put a rail, mattresses, lots of blankets and string lights in the loft space so kids could go up there and nap when they’re tired. I would have put up a lot of string lights too, even in the drapes. Beautiful job though, such a great venue. That was so much work. If you keep using it as a vending venue, it might be good to put white milk paint on the floor or something, still let the wood show through. Gorgeous barn red!
