Can you use an Airbnb to get ready for a wedding?
Some local wedding venues in Grand Junction don’t have a getting-ready space or the right size. Many couples I work with book an Airbnb for getting ready on their wedding day. Browsing Airbnbs for your wedding day prep can be overwhelming. Today, I’ll show you what to look for in an Airbnb for your wedding day prep! Space. One of the main concerns with a getting-ready space is how much space you’ll have. Your dresses and tuxes will take up space. Will your wedding party or family stay the night? How many bedrooms? Make sure there are enough outlets for curling irons and room for mirrors if you’ll be doing your hair and makeup in the home.
Light. Good light is important for photographers. Makeup artists love natural light too! Look for a rental with lots of windows and curtains. A big open space for getting ready photos helps if we need to use a flash. It makes your photos look better and more airy if you don’t all cram into a small room (and it’s nicer for your wedding party too!).
Can you book an Airbnb and have a wedding?
If you’re planning a wedding, consider renting instead of a traditional venue. Not all Airbnb rentals allow events, but many do. They often cater to elopements, small weddings, or smaller-scale receptions. Some couples rent an Airbnb near their venue to get ready for the ceremony. This is a great opportunity for photos!
Choosing an Airbnb wedding venue. Airbnbs offer more than just a venue to tie the knot. “Airbnbs feel more intimate and there are many unique options,” says Erika Hernandez, owner of The Greatest Adventure Weddings. Where is the best place to get ready for a wedding?
The most common question I get is about bridal prep photos. I’m going to write a blog post about it. I think the best place to get ready is at home or at the venue if they have a big bridal suite. If you can’t use a home or bridal suite, a hotel room is the last choice. I’ll explain each option in detail. 1. A house: Homes usually have a living room with lots of natural light. I suggest the bride gets dressed in the living room because it provides space and light. If you have a room with lots of natural light, make sure it’s clean on the morning of the wedding. Ask your bridesmaids to put their bags in another room. Ask the hair and makeup team to use another room with window light. Keep the room clear and clean until it’s time to get dressed. A messy room won’t look good in photos. If your room has lots of furniture and not much space, clear it before the wedding. This will save time on the wedding day. You might have a better-lit bedroom than the living room. If it’s a small room, remove some furniture, especially the bed. A small bedroom makes it hard to get a good full-length shot of the bride getting ready. Photos usually end up with the bed in them, blocking the bottom of the gown. Choose a neutral-colored room with few pictures on the walls. Also, dressers are often cluttered with perfume, deodorant, and other items. Clear them off the day before. (Do you see a pattern?) Many couples use a friend or family member’s house to get ready in. People are happy to lend you their home to use the morning of the wedding. It makes them feel involved. If you don’t know anyone near the venue, you can rent a house. Some couples have rented houses for this. They are clean and ready for you!
2. Another great option is the bridal suite at the venue. The location is key! Most weddings are at the venue, so if you’re getting ready there too, you can save time and money! (Double whammy!) I’ve seen good and bad bridal suites, so don’t use your venue’s just because it has one! Check it out to see if you can fit everyone in. Make sure it’s well lit and looks good in pictures. Most are great, but a few are dark. If you use the bridal suite, make sure the bridesmaids keep their things to one side of the room and the bed is made, dishes are cleared, and it looks ready when the photographer arrives. 🙂

Where does a wedding party get ready?
It can be hard to find a good place to get ready on your wedding morning. The top three easy choices are usually your venue, a nearby hotel, or your house. If these options don’t work, you can try another place. Maybe you can’t get to your venue early, or the hotels nearby don’t fit with your vision, or your parents’ house is too far away. I recommend my couples check out Airbnb! Airbnb is the answer! Couples have used Airbnbs for getting ready locations on their wedding days. I really appreciate how straightforward and honest you are with your advice! Sometimes with wedding planning, we can develop a bit of tunnel vision. Along similar lines of Airbnb weddings, would you be able to do a article on weddings at public parks (likely you need a city permit, consider weather, where to do your reception or alternate reception ideas)? Thank you!
I don’t understand why anyone would try and trick a host?! Your most important day and you’re starting off on a bad foot by doing such a deceitful thing and could be memorable for all of the wrong reasons!!! Thank you for this article as you have mentioned things that people may not have considered. ☺️
We’re doing an Airbnb wedding. Just 15 people. It’s a decent sized house with great outdoor space. So we can do the ceremony outside or in. Doesn’t matter. We’re doing this on a really low budget so we’re going to do some table top card games between the ceremony and dinner. And for dinner its just pizza. Then there’s the cake and ice cream like a birthday. Small, simple, but we’re happy with it.
I love budget friendly small wedding ideas. I’m having my wedding at an airbnb lakefront million dollar house for $3200.00 for a 2 night stay, 25 ppl max – I can have up to 16 overnight guests & 9 daytime visitors according to the host. I’m super happy I didn’t go with the conventional option, a venue or community center and church for the ceremony. I can have the ceremony and reception at the same house. People are spending up to $12000 for a one day reception party and ceremony, idk how anyone can be ok with such a ripoff😭
