  • Dude, as a guy I found it embarrassing, several dates out my ex would wear the most revealing clothing, when the setting we were in everyone else was dressed appropriately, I got tired of the amount of men would approach her and she would engage in conversation with complete strangers. Always men. I wasn’t jealous, I love it when your partner and we dress up to look good, but there’s a line and it’s just embarrassing…

  • I was never that into dressing really provocatively or “hot,” even though in my youth I did have a very nice figure. I dated a man who said he didn’t like women who dressed provocatively, who wore a lot of make up, he didn’t like red lipstick, etc. I didn’t mind that so much. But men, keep this in mind – what is really a kick in the teeth is when you pull that “I don’t like women with too much make up, who dress immodestly, blah blah blah,” then you slap your woman in the face. We were at a picnic in a public park with our friends, and a “Bud Girl” came by, you know, those young women in tight little white cotton dresses and work parks, night clubs, ball games, etc. to advertise Budweiser Beer. She strutted by, he dripped his hot dog, his eyes bugged and his tongue came out and said, in front of me and all our friends, “Oh my GOD, where did that come from???” That was almost 30 years ago and to this day I still regret not saying “why don’t you ask that where it came from. Maybe that brought its car and that can give you a ride home” and leaving. To tell your woman you like her to be modest, no make up, covered up, mousy, etc., and then drool all over the kind of woman you SAY you’re not attracted to, is just a crappy thing to do.

  • Maybe it can be easier to explain by saying, look, imagine you’re out with your boyfriend and he’s wearing tight pants, and girls keep staring at his junk. How would you feel? It’s not your boyfriend’s fault, but he would do something that causes you to be uncomfortable. It’s not controlling to then tell him how you feel about that.

  • Damn, four minutes of realness. Thanks dude, I needed to hear this. The extreme of your final point would be if they think you’re basically forcing them into a burka. Some women you can’t find common ground with. You boys keep your faculties in check and don’t let your hormones go wild n out on you. Respect and peace.

  • If I had revealing clothes, which I never have had, i definitely don’t like being watched or stared at by guys it makes me a very uncomfortable, it’s creepy don’t get me wrong not all guys are creepy but most of them I have met through the yrs were creepy or all they wanted was a piece of tail I don’t go out with girls either due to bad experiences i just stay home

  • Cap. Women are even more attuned to how they are perceived than we are. They might not want to get hit on, but that’s a straw man, most men do not like the idea that they will wear revealing clothing to get the attention of other men (and other women too because comparisons are constant). It’s for attention. If men started doing the equivalent things that get attention from women (you have to be in great shape obviously), then their GFs would not be too keen about that. Women are not these naive little flowers.

  • I always wondered why men were more clothes then women. Like if I go to stores to buy clothes I try to fine comfy clothes for me. But strange thing is yea women section has shirts of t shirt segment bit those are skinny! Those are shorter than men!!! Those are not full length like for arms it covered only half ! I wonder why!!! If I try to were shirt for comfort I had to buye them from mens section! Then people bully me for this!!!!. They say girl should dress like girls! Like I don’t feel comfortable showing my skin my body shape! I like dark color cloths but why they don’t sell it!! Even if they sell it it’s double than mens cloth!!! Why??

  • I’m getting a lot of mixed messages because it seems like some men these days are disappointed that girls don’t wear skirts or dresses anymore, and instead wide leg jeans and sneakers, but wearing dresses and skirts attracts attention and it doesn’t even have to be a tight dress. If it’s elegant, it can still be showy and attract attention. I’m just so confused. Like I don’t want a guy to think I’m trying to attract attention from other males other than himself, but then I’m hearing guys have those preferences where they think baggy jeans are unflattering so when I get ready I sometimes unconsciously put on baggier and more unflattering clothing pieces because I don’t want him to get the wrong idea.

  • Dress UP? Or DOWN? Lol. Genuine question. Also: FEELING sexy vs dressing sexy for the purpose of alluring men, are the SAME THING. They ‘feel’ sexy because they have control over whether a man looks at them. It’s “empowering” on an individual level purely because they now have sway over men’s attention. It’s never “for them” like a lot of girls like to claim.

  • Ok so IF I was single and evaluating prospects (Which Im not) but I speak from my perspective (years back) before I was in committed relationship. Many men will see too revealing clothing on a woman as well basically they dont respect themselves. I have been of the opinion so many years a woman does not even have to show much skin at all to be attractive. The woman Im engaged to now is very modest and honestly that was one of the things that attracted me to her. I felt she respected her body and she gave of good impression that she did not need to show off. To me she is just as beautiful fully covered as if she was not. I get irritated when I hear women complain their men get upset over how they dress as if its not a big deal. Well relationships do require mutual respect. Its healthy to foster relationships where you give thought to how your partner feels. If a woman intentionally for example dresses immodestly saying “He can get over it, I do what I want, Im a free person” (well yeah you can do what you want and are free but your husband is going to feel very disrespected and respect goes a long way with a man. Now image if roles were reversed and a man wanted to wear his dirty shirt out in public and well lets say it had stains, or few holes in it. It he said “well dear get over it, its not a big deal” she would perceive that as “he does not love me enough to do a simple thing for me and does not care if he embarrasses me in public” I do highly advise marriage or being in committed relationships are not for everyone.

  • It’s not a mind set. It’s biology baked into us by millions of years if evolution. Good men act, and even think in a civilized manner. But in doing so we are acting contrary to our physical and emotional biology. A beautiful 24 year old woman wearing a miniskirt to the office and expecting all the middle aged men to treat her, and even think about her in a professional way is like expecting a woman to behave professionally 5 minutes after finding out either her mother is in remission from cancer or that her husband just left her. Neither are reasonable things to put someone through. None the less, most middle aged men will act professionally in the first case. And whether intentional or not, yes when women dress sexually in public it is about biology. In her mind she just wants to feel good about herself, look cute, whatever, not try to land a man. But where does it come from that she has the urge to dress in a sexual way to feel good about herself? Biology. It doesn’t have to be intentional.

  • Thanks for sharing! For the most part, I agree and see the truth in this. But, as a woman, I feel strongly that a large amount of women know exactly what they’re doing, and are absolutely enjoying the attention from men. Part of the reason it makes them feel good about themselves, is bc of the way they’re being received and observed by men. These women may not even realize this consciously.

  • And tell the believing women to reduce (some) of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which (necessarily) appears thereof and to wrap (a portion of) their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment (i.e., beauty) except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers, their brothers’ sons, their sisters’ sons, their women, that which their right hands possess (i.e., slaves), or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allāh in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed. ( QURAN—24:31)

  • We can easily end this debate real quick with one scenario. If a man walks around everywhere in public in a speedo showing off his bulge and man butt, MOST people are going to feel offended. Some may even call the police on him. Especially if there are children around. Yet women and trans people do the same thing often and are PROTECTED from any backlash or ridicule from wearing similar scantily clad outfits in MANY places and situations. Including at schools and businesses. Whatever happened to TRUE EQUALITY that everyone keept talking about all these years huh? Smh 🤷‍♂️ PS Im not condoning either side exposing themselves in any way to the public. Some thing’s should stay private. (Like your actual “private” parts)

  • Okay maybe a long time ago this is how it was but now that people have been talking about it and the internet’s around and women can see all these articles they can’t play stupid no more. All the answers are out there so there’s no more excuses. If they’re still doing it at this point, then theyre just ho a hhh r z ! #SpreadTheWord !

  • I don’t care what the scenario is, if you wear revealing clothing, even leggings tighter then a bolt, I view you as a Demon. Using human’s and earths greatest sin against them. The beach and such excluded. Duh. Women don’t understand that those clothings make even young men stumble. The bible states whoever makes one of these little ones to stumble better it be they are drowned. Just because women find this “fun” doesn’t make it right in public. Same goes to all the simps that tolerate this behavior.

  • you got good intentions, the beggining of the article was great, but i lost you by the end.the reason why men view woman this way is because of the patriarchy, sexism, and misogony(hopefully i spelled right.). men view woman in a sexualized way, overly sexualized.everything we do in their opinion is in order to attract men,so much so that they have a hard time believing we actually dress sexy in order to feel good about ourselves. they view us as their posession.that is why i lost you in the end – cause you said you could ask your partner to not dress this way when she isnt with you/not all the time.and you said girls consider that to be a red flag, cause IT IS. i dont choose my partners clothes,so should he.i wss too nice when i loved someone,it started lightly.it started with requesting nicely.it didnt matter how nicely he asked because the way he viewd me was not healthy.the way someone who does that views woman is NOT HEALTHY.not human. it led me to being abused emotionally so much by him im messed up.no one will ever tell me how to dress.no one.im now allowing no men to tell me that, especially nice guys (like you) who say it kindly and express their opinion in a healthy way – because that opinion and world view IS STILL extremely damaging to woman no matter how nicely you put it and how you explain yourself.men need to do better.stop perusal *or(not talking to you, just in general) and learn how they sexualize woman, how society sexualizes woman, learn about the patriarchy and mysoginy and do better cause woman are suffering.
