Did The Crown Use Diana’S Wedding Dress?

The Crown’s fourth season trailers teased Princess Diana’s wedding dress for months, so it came as a surprise when the show skipped her extravagant wedding to Prince Charles. Diana’s dress was valued at $115,000 in 1981 ($342,803 in 2020), compared to the $5,610 value of an average Emanuel wedding dress. In season 4, which will be released on Netflix, Emma Corrin plays Lady Diana on her wedding day. The dress was meticulously recreated, with dressmakers working for six hundred hours to create the exact replica of Diana’s wedding gown.

Diana’s wedding dress was designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel and was valued at £9000 in 1981. However, it was valued at a whopping £151,000 in 2019, making it one of the most expensive royal wedding dresses. The original designers of Diana’s gown, David and Elizabeth Emanuel, lent their patterns to the Crown production crew, and the dress was made using ivory silk taffeta with lace flounces.

The moment Emma Corrin appeared in Diana’s wedding dress in Season 4 was almost theatrical, as two doors were opened. The gown Emma Corrin wore in Season 4 episode 3, Fairytale, took 14 weeks to make and employed the same lace company that worked on the original dress. The Crown producers felt that the best rendition of Charles and Diana’s wedding would pale in comparison to the actual event.

I knew it wasn’t what Diana would have wanted. Her brother took away her proper status. Lord Spencer called Burrell’s comments lies and said in a statement: The Queen’s standard was removed by her own officer during the ceremony. Corrin says the wedding wasn’t important to the plot. “We don’t recreate things just for the sake of it,” she said. • Princess Diana had a heart of gold. She was happy and mischievous, that’s why children loved her so much and why she loved them right back. When she was sad, it was because Charles beat her down emotionally and that’s what people with low self esteem do to their partners, in order to project that onto them. She had no one to turn to in the royal family, but when her children came along, she lit up again.

  • I love Diana’s fashion sense as she got older but when she got married she was ONLY 19 Y.O. and probably wasn’t aware of good designers out there so this fashion designer got lucky……I think Diana’s wedding dresss was very ordinary and the designer has been doing well ever since because everyone wants to go to a ROYAL fashion designer. Thankfully Princess Kate was a bit older when she married William so she had time to work out her fashion style…….Her Steve McQueen wedding dress was simple and elegant and that is why Kate nailed it when it came to her wedding.

  • For anyone suffering from depression or lonely Do not give up on life I repeat do not give up on life if you want to experience extreme happiness and a desire to live do the right thing right now and just simply ask God this right now just “ask God to give you an extreme desire to love God more than anything in this world” I promise if you do that and you take the necessary steps like reading your Bible everyday, praying to God everyday and watch Christian sermons on YouTube everyday but most importantly devote your time and attention to God everyday by praying to God everyday for his help in every decision of your life everyday and in every situation of your life everyday for I guarantee if you do this everyday then your life will get better, you will have more peace, you will be more successful, you will have more happiness, and all your dreams will come true that’s because when you pray to God then God will make all good things possible for you and you must not forget to read the “Holy Bible” everyday and a great place for you to start in the holy Bible is (Psalms 1) and everyday after that read a chapter in Psalms till you finish all the chapters in Psalms then after that start on (Proverbs 1) then everyday after that read a chapter in Proverbs till you finish all the chapters in Proverbs and after that read every chapter of the Holy Bible until you finish it for it will change your life in the most amazing way

  • I’m actually making the dress for my own wedding but the train is detachable for dancing but not made of silk taffeta but of a lightweight neoprene and cotton spandex for me being able to eat at the reception and to be able to lift my arms up which I couldn’t do in silk taffeta with a fitted armhole and a giant mass on each arm which were the sleeves (believe me. I tried to dance in it and the sleeve seam ripped apart when I had to raise my arms up.)

  • The dress overpowered her. Those horrid sleeves, that awful ruffle and the bodice did not fit her across her bustline. The silk taffeta wrinkled easily, and the dress and train were so over done it barely fit in the carriage. It was just too much. She was tall, slim, nice figure, with all the money in the world at her disposal, the possibilities were endless for a gorgeous gown. She needed guidance.
