Do Instagram Stories Help Engagement?

Instagram Stories are a fun and effective way to engage with your audience, even if they aren’t seeing your posts in their feed. With over 500 million people watching Instagram Stories every day, it’s essential to get them involved and engaged with your business. Stories help you connect and engage with your target audience in an authentic way, building relationships that increase customer loyalty.

Instagram Stories work by adding stickers, time stamps, and doodles to each Story and applying certain tips to win engagement. There’s no better way to get into video marketing than with Instagram Stories, as they take minutes to make, boost brand recognition, and their engagement rate is calculated by dividing the total number of engagements with a post by your follower count.

The Instagram Stories algorithm typically prioritizes content from accounts you interact with the most, rather than the specific content of a story. To increase engagement on Instagram Stories, review your Instagram Story habits, make some changes, and create engaging content that people would want to save.

One of the most important things to get more engagement on Instagram Stories is to show up consistently. Share stories on a consistent basis, and use features like geolocation and location hashtags, creating a poll for your story, and adding a quiz sticker.

It’s important to remember that too many stories can lead to decreased engagement, so it’s crucial to maintain a consistent approach to engagement. Additionally, Instagram Stories can be used to boost reach and engagement, influence purchasing behavior, and even make sales.

  • Hey Jade! 😊 I discovered your website a couple of months ago and love, Love, LOVE your content! Your articles are so helpful, plus you deliver them in that beautiful British accent! (That’s really engaging when you have a boring American accent like me. 🙄) I also love how you’ve been switching up the background in your articles lately. It’s like a glimpse into Jade World! I had a point. What was it? 🤔 Oh yeah! It’s a question actually. So I use Stories A LOT. I add entertaining stuff to my stories probably half a dozen times a day. Said stuff generates tons of DMs which I LOVE (although it’s time-consuming) because I get to actually bond with people! 😊 But it’s reached the point where a bunch of my followers expect new content in my stories every few hours. So how do I let my stories expire? That’s 24 whole hours where I’m not as engaged with people! Shudder Is it really necessary to wait for my stories to expire? I’m guessing that yes, yes it is ’cause A) you suggested it and B) it probably has to do with That Enigma Known As The Algorithm. Also (sorry – longest comment ever), I’ve never taken a masterclass before and am interested in the one you pinned to your Comments section. Does being in this class mean I hafta actually look presentable because it’s like a Zoom kind of situation or would I just be perusal you teach and therefore avoiding things like, ya know, a comb?

  • Hi Jade! I’m following you for a while, I like your content, and it helps me a lot, but sometimes, as a non-English native speaker, I find hard to understand you due to a “not completely” clear voice, but in this last article your voice sounds perfect clear compared to the other ones and it was no problem to understand you. So, I don’t know if you changed your microphone or the conditions of recording in the room, but if so, continue like this, please! It’s just a very tiny difference, but it changes a lot!

  • Hi Jade, Can you please do a tutorial on how to use/add/save music for Instagram story. A lot of features related to that are missing on my Instagram. So any hacks/tips for that please. I have been trying to use saved music from reels on my stories and I am not able to use those saved ones for my stories unless it’s a reel. Help!!

  • Hi Jade, I’ve updated my Instagram app, so basically I’ve got two accounts. One personal. This one has the like option for stories but my main content creator account doesn’t have any option like that. I’m also not still able to reply directly to specific messages in a chat and reply to a message with different emojis. I only have the like option. Please let me know if you know anything.

  • If we have learnt anything from the current situation, it is the realization that everything around us is so temporary… Life is so fragile.. The material activities we were attached to, like going to a movie, dining at a favorite restaurant, shopping, socializing with friends, fun outings have become far-fetched now.. All this makes us realize the value of life, our time with our loved ones and the preciousness of the current moment! We should emerge out of this wiser, kinder, loving and being more in the moment! Make the best of every living moment! Spread love and kindness always! Touch as many hearts as possible with your kindness and love! That’s all that matters in this life!

  • Vanessa, I love how you emphasized that it’s not necessary to have the stories super planned out. I think some people teach this and although it is smart to have a certain strategy behind the stories we share, it’s important not to overcomplicate things and curate our stories so much. Love your method. I’ve been doing this too more or less, I just hadn’t put a name to it 🤪

  • Love the acronym KCR, already in the back of my head for my stories coming this week. It’s also refreshing to hear you say that for the most part your stories are very go with the flow for the day. I’ve seen many others discuss strategic ways to create stories and while in theory they aren’t wrong and will probably generate great results, in my experience it feels inauthentic to my brand personally and the planned stories look very forced/lack personality.

  • 💯💯💯🎯🎯🎯🎯 Ayyyye!!! I love this article, because I post what I want, when I want in my stories AND THEY ALL GIVE VALUE in someway. .. Bts, repost, quotes, my.dog lol! 😇 THANK YOU for reassuring me. I’m sure we all wonder if our stories matter and/or helping someone, which in exchange GAIN A NEW CLIENT 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

  • Hi Vanessa, I am SMGHULAM from India. First of all, I would like to thank you, after perusal your articles on Instagram, and implementing the technique that you shared was very helpful and it really helped me grow me a lot. You have really inspired me a lot and now I am also thinking of starting my youtube website as my niche is too the people who have zero ideas about being fit. As they think that hitting the gym is the only way to stay in shape. Once again “THANK YOU SO MUCH”.

  • I want to say thank you so much for you. I’m starting my business instagram account. I’m a writer and I don’t have any ideas how to make my instagram account could help me to sell my book. Then, I found you. I try to follow every step you teach here. And, guess what? I got 1000 followers only in one month! I’m continuing this journey and can’t wait what else you teach me (or us). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Thanks for the vid. I just stumbled on it and may have only seen one or two of your other articles. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the KCR method is. Not sure if it’s something specific with your tribe or something more widespread. Wish there was a quick high-level primer in this article to help me follow along a bit more.

  • Hi Vanessa, I didn’t think I would get much out of this article since I don’t use Instagram as a source of traffic for business. However, I ended up finding it helpful because I don’t usually have any call to action in most of my stories. I think that is something I could improve upon. Also, for most of my networking, I use linked in and networking organizations. It seems to work out well for me. Do you have any networking groups you are a part of? Or do you ever use linked in as an outreach platform for new business? If so, I would love to see articles on that. Enjoy the rest of your day 🙂

  • Another great article! And love your KCR and solid your best practices. Historically taxes does blind side a lot of first time independent contractors and small business owners (especially consultants and influencers, etc.). However, just note paying taxes isn’t a debit to your profit. It’s a debit to your overall balance sheet and cashflow, but not your profits (i.e. 2019 taxes does not count as an expense to lower your 2020 profits). You probably want to ask your bookkeeper to check how you classified the expenses and how to read the statements. So definitely a good point in terms of cash flow and saving for taxes, but just that one small point is a bit off in terms of profits related to tax expenses. btw. In all other regards, keep up the great work!

  • Hey Vanessa, I am not an IG fan, but your tips are good for my YouTube website or FB too.💡💡 Always have a KEY take away is SOOOO important and I always do that on my YOuTube. I stick to the point, have a clear message and a clear CTA and make sure it’s about my audience, and they understand it and can USE it! I want to be clear in my message so my viewers who are stuck in a 9-5 can finally START taking action to create the life they want. Same for FB, I will often post value, just like my Youtube, but also often have a post or quote or pic and then there’s no really key take away. I will remember this Thanks!

  • Great website Vanessa. I learned so much already and just started to watch your articles. I am growing my cooking website and would looove your shout out on your article. Would really appreciate your help on this. Thank you! I am going to watch your articles from start to the end. Thank you for sharing all experiences with you. Even though your content belongs to completely differrnt category, I am still able to addapt all your advices to my YouTube website. For example the advise on making mistakes: my next article will be: DON’T MAKE THIS Mistake while baking! Thank you again! Sharing your website on my Instagram too.

  • hey vanessa..i have an instagram account which contains lots of fake followers..but ive been using it for a couple of years now and hopefully i am not shadowbanned..i removed a ton of ghost followers recently and i wanna revive my account..so the question is can i still use this account and make it grow or should i start a new page?

  • Thanks for the article! So let’s say that I want to be verified on Instagram and my Instagram account name is jarrettmatthewsofficial. But I don’t want to list my true last name and instead I have my acting name on there. Would I have any difficulty getting verification even though I’ve explained to Instagram?

  • Yaah KCR I used it in @clonitez that’s why it was such a successful page 😄, sometimes I think of changing niche of that page from programming to social media, because I haven’t posted anything on that page from last 5 months because of getting clear of what is my niche, what i like to do, and I used VRIN in posts of it 😁, it literally build so much trust of them in mine, one time one person also started stealing my content because of no trademark, but my followers reported and banned him from instagram, omg I’m getting old memories back 😂 listen guys if I can grow theme page with real 6000+ followers and more than 10% engagement rate by KCR in stories and valuable posts, then you can too, all the best everyone, just be you and be unique 😉
