Do You Need A Garter For Wedding?

A wedding garter is a piece of bridal lingerie worn under a wedding dress, and it is a tradition during the reception. Many brides choose to wear two garters: one to toss and one to keep. The garter is accessible to anyone, as no specific individual is designated to purchase it. It can be chosen by the bride to complement her wedding attire or bought as a keepsake.

The garter toss tradition originated from the belief that the bride’s attire would bring good luck. Instead of tossing anything, use the bouquet as a prize, give it to your grandmother or a friend who was a huge help during the planning process, or have your DJ play a “married-only” song.

There are five reasons why you should wear a wedding garter immediately:

1. Wearing a gift card: Attach a gift card for a restaurant, store, or any other service to a small bouquet and toss it to the crowd of single people on the dance floor. They can use the gift card to treat themselves or take a partner out on a date.

2. Tossing the bouquet: If you’re wearing an A-line or ball gown, the garter can be worn as high as you want, but if your dress is more fitted through the thighs, it might be better to place it just above the knee. If the garter still shows through the gown and will be tossed during the reception, you may want to sneak out to put it on right.

There is no reason to wear a wedding garter if you don’t want to. It’s up to you which traditions you include in your wedding and if you want to replace the old garter toss tradition, there are several options available.

If a lady catches the bouquet and a man catches the garter, they will be the next to get married. The man who catches the garter puts it on the lady who caught the bouquet. The couple must dance together.

Use at high school proms in the United States. Prom garters were common in the 1960s and 1970s. They often served as souvenirs. If the date got the garter, it was usually hung from the rear-view mirror.
