Who walks out the mother of the bride?
If the mother of the bride is in the wedding procession, she is usually escorted by a close male relative. She can also enter alone. If the parents are divorced, she may be escorted by her partner. Sometimes, the groomsman or best man will walk her down the aisle.
Processional traditions go back a long time. In arranged marriages, fathers would bring their daughters to the wedding and walk them down the aisle to meet their husbands. The bridesmaids helped the bride get ready for the wedding and walked with her in the procession. You can make your processional unique in many ways. You can have different family members or wedding party members walk in the processional ahead of or with you. Don’t limit the procession to only family members.
What should the mother of the bride wear when wedding dress shopping?
Match the wedding party. The mother of the bride’s dress should match the color of the wedding party’s attire, but not exactly. Fashion expert Shea Jensen says mothers of the bride should wait until their daughters have chosen their bridesmaids’ dresses before shopping. If the bridal party is wearing black cocktail dresses, you might want to choose something in silver or grey. If the bridesmaids are wearing cobalt blue, a navy dress would match.
Look at the venue. While you can wear almost anything as a mother-of-the-bride, it’s important to follow the venue’s rules. For a beach wedding, wear a strapless dress. Consider the weather and cultural or religious customs when choosing a mother-of-the-bride outfit. Look for something elegant, understated, and appropriate.
Plan ahead and tell your choice. Jensen says moms should start looking for a dress three months before the wedding. This gives time for special orders and alterations. Also, it’s traditional for the mother of the bride to buy her dress first and then share it with the mother of the groom. Planning ahead ensures everyone has time to coordinate their looks.

My mom and dad had a 16 years gap. They had a loving solid marriage. He left way too soon. She widowed at 46 and never dated ever!. When I asked her 10 years after his passing why she didn’t date and got a new husband, she answered me “I have my love, I know we will meet again, then how will I explain to him that I got another man when he left?, besides I have no desire to share the rest of my life with another man”. So yeah true genuine love does exist, it doesn’t matter the age gap between a couple.
My late husband was 23 years older than me! After he passed away, (about a year later) I found a basket in the top of his closet, it had every card, note, letter and scrap piece of paper, that I had ever given him in chronological order dating back to 1995. He even scrap pieces of paper that he had written my Hotel phone numbers on, after he received the information from dispatch depending on which City I was dispatched in with the City’s name, Hotel name and room number. I can estimate a date based on the piece above and below it. That really blew my mind. I will never ever love anything more than this newfound treasure left to me. RIP Gene 7 23 2020 ❤
26 year age gap here… we have been married 23 years now! It’s rare and has it’s challenges… but it CAN work! Also not a money or daddy issue thing. 😂 I was born to older parents who had older parents and am the last of 6 kids with a 20 year age gap between oldest and youngest siblings, I’m the youngest. I guess I grew up more comfortable around older generations. Also had a short first marriage to a man close to my own age who was irresponsible and abusive. Mature husband was like a dream after that nightmare!
I think some of the comments are unfair. Imagine her marrying someone the same age as her who does not respect her and beats her .. As long as the man loves her and she loves him and they are ready to make commitments for marriage, she is happy. What prevents that? I wish some people would be logical and mind their own business .. Words are like weapons, they hurt and wound hearts❤.. My respect to everyone.
Years ago I bought a cargo van from a man for $300. It was beat to shit but ran like champ even with 200k miles on it. When I showed up, he was damn near in tears. He did not want to sell his van that he loved, but, as he put it, ” I am 48 and got my 24 year old girlfriend pregnant, and now I gotta get a minivan” …Never saw a man so sad in my life honestly.
Good for you! We have 19 years difference and doing great. I also love having the financial comfort of a 40 year old married woman without waiting for it years and years. What’s wrong with that? We have a great relationship, child and have been 11 years together already. Yes, I had daddy issues, so what? It’s also great to say that I was able to afford all the therapy I needed to mature, which probably wouldn’t have happened if I married someone young and broke, which would make our relationship very hard. I love my husband and we are both insanely lucky to have each other. It was love at first sight and I don’t care etat anyone thinks. The older you both get the less visible the difference is, anyway.
My wife is 20 years younger and the difference reduces with time. A 69yo with a 49yo is viewed very differently to a 38yo with an 18yo. And mostly it’s the older women who have a problem with it, largely because their pool of men are fishing down stream age wise not upstream and the younger girls are looking for what women have always looked for, a good stable caring provider for them and their children, not a guy thats playing the field like they do in the crazy American dating scene. Older guys tick a lot of boxes for younger girls.
When I was 13, my mother (re)married a man 21 years her senior. She was in her mid 30s at the time and he was in his mid 50s and very young looking. She is now 75 and he just turned 97 and has been on his deathbed. She has been struggling at her age to take care of him for the last few years. She has some help from us and from his veterans benefits but she’s still 75. These marriages with big age gaps might seem cute right now, but they aren’t when you are old, sick, and decrepit. That’s when the rubber really meets the road.
I am 10.5 years older than my wife, at 23 and 34 is doesn’t seem like much, nor at 44 or 55. But what happens when I am 81 and she’s 70. That’s the problem. And we’re only 10 years. It has also created all kinds of financial issues you don’t think of. You can’t make certain investments that carry over to a surviving spouse is there is 10 years or more between you. Insurance is much more complicated. It takes a decade (in my case) to get full retirement benefits. We’re neither wealthy nor poor. But our age difference has health, wellness and financial complications you don’t think of in your 20s or 30s.
18 years is not that bad, especially she is already an adult when she met him. There are men at the same age or just few years older but they don’t treat you right and are abusive… vice versa. Age is not the issue, it’s respect, understanding and compromise between two people. Not everyone’s cup of tea but doesn’t make it wrong… it’s depends on individual.
My wife is 11 yrs older than me, but I actually look older at 44 than she does at 55. I didn’t marry her for her money. She’s a stay at home mom and proud trad wife. We’ve been married 17 yrs. I was originally attracted to her beauty, but fell in love with her practicality and maturity. The girls I dated in my 20s were immature, high maintenance and dramatic. She was down to earth and no BS. It was refreshing. She had a career for 27 yrs with the same company, but gave it up to raise our son. She’s amazing.
My mom married my stepdad whos 21 yrs older but issue is that he never did anything. She did all the indoor and outdoor chores. She always said he was old and also because he literally smoked for 35 yrs he messed up his lungs so much that he didnt mow grass because its bad for his lungs. He also cheated on her multiple times while she was pregnant with my younger sister. Age is a factor but how the person decides to lead a healthy and active lifestyle is important. And she still loved him despite everything. When you marry someone, LOVE is not the sole reason you should marry them. If they take advantage of you, disrespect you, make you care for them and clean while they never do anything in return but say they pay for stuff. You will be a slave to that marriage. She wanted to leave him but doesnt because she wouldnt get much money from divorcing him. He wasnt rich and he has an awful conceited personality. People say theyre in love with spouse but if your spouse doesnt care for you when your sick its not an equal marriage. My mom is depressed, always exhausted and has bad health because of it. He doesnt care. Age matters, she has had to literally wipe his nasty butt when he crapped his pants because hes old. If you wana date someone much older and be a caregiver just know thats a possibility. And when they pass, you wont have a spouse to grow old with unless you decide to get married. Shes too jaded to want to get married, she suffered enough taking care of him for 20 so years while he acts like a pampered princess.
In case anyone needs to know, she’s 33, born in 1990. He’s currently 51. They married when she was about 21-23, and he was 40-42 according to her math. Yeah the age gap is kinda strange, but they are both adults, and they share 3 biological children together so. Idk why people care about a marriage that’s not their own.🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
My husband and I have a 27 yr age gap and have been married for 15 yrs and God willing we will make it to our 50th. I love him, plain and simple. Not every age gap marriage is about money. Sometimes we go through things and are more mature than guys our own age or guys our own age have traumatized us. As ling as God is your foundation then you will survive.
This is honestly something that is so common and at the end of the day it is not a good idea due to the differences and the experience that each person has had. Usually it’s just the heat of the moment and then trying to have everybody believe that it can work out, and will work out which very few times it can, and does, but all in all there is always such a huge difference in so many ways….It’s not only the age.
You have never seen a rich 18-year-old and a broke older man. So please, they didn’t get with each other because of love. She’s with him because of the lust of money and him lust of sexual lust. They might grow to love each other later, but they were not drawn to each other because of love. Unless he was just too fine. That’s rare, though…
My husband and I have a 24 year age gap. 100% daddy issues (in my case) 🤷🏼♀️ My actual dad has more money than my husband, I have a career, and my ex (who I dumped) was a millionaire. People can think what they want, but never underestimate the dysfunctional power of growing up with a dad who was not nice.
If you look at statistics, these types of relationships are extremely rare, because most women do not want an old man (when she’s 50, he’ll be 68!!). Typically the women that choose this do so believing the man will never leave them. I think super model Paulina Porizkova did this (seems obvious from her interviews), and look what it resulted in for her. 🙁 So women in these relationships typically have abandonment issues—or, they’re just a gold digger.
Y’all a bunch of haters. She was independent BEFORE meeting her husband. She’s a super model and nutritionist. She’s also 33 & they have 3 kids together. she just looks young. And they’ve been together a while. And he actually respects her as a human being (which is more than a lot of you women can say about your age appropriate men) and treats her well. This article is literally just them joking about the assumptions people make about them and your responses just exposes your hate and jealousy.
Everytime I see this dynamic I always wonder what would happen if the older individual couldn’t work and be a provider anymore? What happens when their health declines and they need you to be their full time Home Health Aide? What if someone younger tries to go after him? What if he’s considered the poor one in his friend/business circle and you want more than what he can give you? What happens when your kids try and emulate your relationship? Look at Kimora Lee Simmons daughter. Harvard graduate with a modeling career throwing ass at a 65 year old man in the Bahamas, just for him to break up with her once the vacation was over. Man doesn’t even look happy back there.
For all the people out there talking out their asses… She’s 32. She has 3 children (presumably with him). She was a model. She’s now into holistic health and works as a nutritionist. She has a whole website devoted to sharing life in her family. This article is just the two of them making a joke and having some fun (although it is hilarious to think of a guy in his late 40’s being roped into making a TikTok article by his younger wife). They’re clearly happy together. I cannot stand the term “hater” and make a point of not using it, but this comments section is full of them. And BTW, it took me about 10 seconds to find out who she was.
My wife was beautiful in her 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. We are now in our 70s, and I can get up 7 days a week, but my wife can’t accept inside her anymore. We are just 4 years apart. She is still beautiful and the love of my life. So let’s just say she’s learned how to toss a salad real well, and it’s all fine for me.
Easy to backtrack and read her about page and watch a few other shorts. They say a whirlwind decade. And she stated 32 in bio. With 18 year age diff he is 50 now. I looked at wedding pic and she hardly seens different…meaning you all still think she is 20! Another short has 3 kids looking under 10. All people age in looks quite a bit from 40 to 50 but to me just letting his gray beard grow out makes him look older. As far as age differences all Harlequin romances were pushing the hardly 18 year old at 40 plus rich men! No one said eww then! Also when suddenly realizing they are mortal and dont have a family yet do look for younger and women want stability to raise a family! Nothing wrong with that. Women date younger these days too. After my divirce at 47 i refused to date anyone my age. I only dated 10 years younger with no kids. I was from yuppie era and married one when I was basically a nerd hippie. Later I met a slightly older 60s eral guy. We matched pretty much. Both diy and down to earth. We were both in late 50s when we met. Best guy on the planet. Dont judge! You never know.
LMAO My husband and I are only five years apart but he looks 70 and I look 30. We get a LOT of dirty looks, especially from old ladies, when I’m dressed up on a date. Their mom instincts kick in when they see you together. It isn’t malicious. It is a protective, positive instinct… Just misdirected. So your response is wonderful. It keeps you and your hubby unbothered while not being wrong to old grannies who care. Diffuse with humor. Love it.
My man was 17 yrs older than me and he was the kindest person I ever met in my life. Yes, I had daddy issues and he was the one who pointed it out to me and insisted we go to couples therapy right from the start before any problems had even cropped up. I miss him so much. I hope he’s happy wherever he is. RIP Stasiku.
We have a 20 year gap. Hes white Im asian. People think its money, i get that comment a lot. Yes but not entirely. Older men are more likely to be more stable emotionally and mentally. Not easily getting swayed by the outside. They know what they want and what they don’t. I also learn a lot about life and career wise because he has gone through enough experience to guide me through. It was the smartest decision I ever did in my life.
Grandfather was 32, she was 19. They had 5 kids and remained together for 50+ years. Dad was 36 and mom was 21, they had 4 kids and were married 26 years until Dad passed away. I’m dating someone 9 years younger and I think it will be perfect. As long as both are adults and consenting, all is good. Newer generations are mentally challenged in their thinking. Not only was this super common prior to the 80s, this is actually still super common in most parts of the world.
My father was 20 years older than my mother. They had 4 boys together all with an IQ over 130 and extremely strong physically… They were happily married for 25 years before my father died. He was one of the most respected men in the neighbourhood because of his vast life experience and knowledge. Seemingly when growing up whilst all the other young same age parents were getting drunk and fighting neglecting their kids… Myself and my 3 brothers were actually looked after and guided on the right path. For anyone saying there is anything wrong with this… I am certainly glad that he was my farther and none of the other kids dads, that’s for sure.
Never dated an older man but I’m recently divorced. I’m 49 and I was very surprised that men in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s want to take me out. I’ve been out with younger but I’m currently dating in the 30-40’s range. It’s all personal preference. When there’s a connection, there’s no need to deny it
gary is super nice and a great dad to his kids. valeria herself is somewhat rich before she met gary as she was already earning her money as a model. most guys younger are irresponsible, adulterers, wife beaters, children abusers… SO dont hate on Gary when he is a terrific husband and father. He seems very respectful to both valeria and her mother.
What’s so sad is that no matter how old she gets people will always look at her as a child simply because of the age gap. For the love of everything they are both adults it doesn’t matter if there is an age gap if people would stop being so focused on immediately going to the negative learn to see the good and things and if you feel like she’s trapped in a manipulative destructive relationship pray for her don’t talk about her.
People are so rude. Who cares if they’re a alot of years apart. Everyone here are dating people their own age and still can’t make it last. If you find someone you connect with and can make it last for more than 7 years or you can solve your issue in a healthy way then that’s a blessing people make people give up on each other and say their the problem and find someone new. Finding learning to be in a healthy relationship is hard because you have but if someone is willing to do it with someone they think they love then we should hope they spread a little of the patience to the works
I was engaged to someone 38 years older than me. I think what this girl is doing is great because it seems like thery’re both happy and pleased so it isn’t really anyones business who she wants to marry. I love how unapologetic she is about marrying for money 💗 that’s awesome. Because it’s not like love is gonna feed your baby and romance would pay the rent. 😉
Do you have content warning younger viewers that large age gaps could potentially lead to abuse and manipulation or whatever? Idk maybe I’m just cynical but younger people are not the smartest Edit: looking back on this comment I could be perceived as a Karen. I made it as someone who thought they were mature at 18 and got involved with a 30 year old, and I thought it was exciting so I went along with whatever they said. Edit: wording
I’m 28 my fiance is 58. I lost the love of my life at 19. I was lucky enough to find love, safety and security again. You can’t help who you love. Screw what people think you only live once. (BTW I’ve been with him since I was 22, we live in a small town and everyone talks crap. Oh he’s just your ‘sugar daddy’ let them think what they want. 100-150 years ago it’d be fine but suddenly it’s all taboo or you have to have some sort of daddy issue….no it’d just rather be with a man than have to spend years breaking in a wandering boy…)
I remembered my schoolmate when we were 17 years old, she asked me, is it really weird that she only like old guy like 10 and more years older than her? Given to her personality, i said, not many like much older people but it is not strange if u are a mature thinking person, like the way you carry urself is more mature than average person. Like ur seriousness, not wanting to play around….joking around… adore family life.
What kind Shamelessness is this ? Has the womens in today’s time have gone so low for Money that they have lost All kind moral learnings. . Marriage is still considered a sacred bond in our culture between two person build on Lots of love, Equal Respect and Mutual Understanding. Why call this a marriage… Better Call it a deal of selling young body for money.
Well i don’t care… if they are happy that’s what counts.. The only condition for me personally is that..WHEN they MET she must have been +18 so that he didn’t groom her! and also that he WASNT cheating on his wife with her nor left her for this kid! Apart from that if those conditions are met.. then it’s not our business & i wish them a happy life!
