Marriage can influence a woman’s menstrual cycle and increase symptoms such as cramps and headaches. This can be due to stress, emotional adjustments, weight fluctuation, and certain health conditions. Moderate to intense pain is more common 2 to 3 years after the first menarche and usually gets better after age 20 or after pregnancy and birth. Period pain can be heavier than usual and can occur during the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle.
Marriage may also increase the risk of weight gain, as women are highly susceptible to gain weight after marriage. Factors such as lack of desire to find a new partner, marital satisfaction, and changes in dietary habits are believed to contribute to this. Physical changes in the female body after marriage, such as increased levels of estrogen and cortisol, can lead to skin and hair problems. Disrupted menstrual cycles can also result in reduced or even disappearing menstrual pain.
Sexual intercourse can reduce pain due to endorphins, which are released during menstruation. Rest and heating bags can help relieve pain during menstruation, but a sonogram (usg) is advised when the pain is severe. Some research has shown that having intercourse can reduce period cramps on multiple levels.
Approximately 80% of women experience menstrual pain and premenstrual syndrome (PMS), which decrease a woman’s quality of life. Some believe that period pains are normal and go away on their own after marriage, while others believe they are inherited.

What hormonal changes occur after marriage?
This study is cross-sectional, so we can’t say if there’s a cause-and-effect relationship. But there are some interesting possibilities. One possibility is that marriage or pair-bonding changes hormones, so that after pair-bonding, estrogen and progesterone levels go up. This could be adaptive if pair-bonding signals more stable access to resources, including more care for children. The hormonal changes in women who are in a relationship could make it more likely that they will get pregnant. Previous studies have shown that women in relationships have lower testosterone levels. This could mean that they are more interested in having children than in finding a mate.
It is also possible that a woman’s levels of estradiol and progesterone affect her chances of getting married. Our results could be explained by women with high estradiol and progesterone being more likely to be in romantic relationships. If ovarian steroid profiles stay the same and show how fertile a woman is, they may be linked to how attractive she is. In a group of Polish women of reproductive age, those with narrow waists and large breasts had 37% higher midcycle salivary estradiol levels than women with other body types. This suggests that body shape may be a sign of reproductive fitness (Jasienska et al., 2004). In a British study, women with higher levels of estradiol and progesterone in their urine were rated as more attractive, feminine, and healthy than women with lower levels (Smith et al., 2006). It seems that ovarian hormone levels affect how attractive women are. However, we don’t know if women with higher hormone levels are more likely to be in a relationship. Further research is needed to answer this question.
We can’t rule out other factors that may affect this relationship. These results need to be confirmed in a different group of women. To understand the cause and how things change over time, we need to follow a group of women who naturally cycle over time. It would be hard to do this in a Western population, but it might be possible in a traditional population (where there is little or no use of hormonal contraception). Examining divorced/separated women may show how pair-bonding affects ovarian function. The number of divorced/separated women in our study was too small to draw conclusions (n = 7). However, their mean ovarian hormone levels were between those of married and single women. If other studies confirm our results, we may find that marital status affects health and disease, not only through psychological well-being, but also through its effects on hormone production. Some illnesses are more likely to occur in people who are married. It is possible that differences in lifetime exposure to ovarian steroids may contribute to some of these relationships.
Do period cramps get worse in your 30s?
Even if you haven’t had children, your periods might be heavier or more painful in your 30s because of gynecological conditions. That’s why cramps are most common in your 30s and 40s. Period in your 40s and 50s. As women enter their 40s, they may start to have irregular periods again, says Dr. Sublette.
At what age is period pain worse?
As women get older, their periods can get worse, especially in their 30s and 40s. The pain can come with other symptoms like irregular periods, pain during sex, and smelly vaginal discharge. Some conditions need medical attention. If you have bad period pain or any of these symptoms, see your doctor. They can help you. Why does period pain get worse with age? 1. Adenomyosis. Adenomyosis is when the tissue in the uterus grows in the muscle wall. This tissue thickens and sheds during a menstrual cycle. This can make your uterus swollen and cause heavier bleeding. This can cause severe pain during periods.
2. Fibroids. Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus during childbearing years. They usually develop because of high estrogen levels. Fibroids can cause pain in the abdomen or lower back. They can also make your periods heavier. Fibroids usually shrink after menopause.
At what age do periods get worse?
In your 40s and 30s, fluctuating estrogen and progesterone can make periods unpredictable. They could come more often. Or they might happen less often. The flow might be heavy or light. Before your periods stop, your body goes through a transition called perimenopause, which can last 2 to 10 years. During this time, your cycle can change a lot. In your 40s and maybe even in your late 30s, fluctuating estrogen and progesterone can make periods unpredictable. They could come more often. Or they might happen less often. The flow might be heavy or light. Sometimes you’ll skip a period or two. (But you haven’t reached menopause until you go 12 months without a period.) Other period symptoms, like cramps and mood swings, could get worse. You may not get the pain and moodiness that mean your period is on the way. Because it’s unpredictable, it can be hard for women to know when their period will come.
Why are periods disturbed after marriage?
Your menstrual cycle can be irregular if your hormones are out of balance. If you’re sure there was no condom leakage, there’s little chance of pregnancy.
📹 Menstrual Pain? How to Manage Period Pain?
Oh, it’s that time of the month again! Period pain can drag you down. Hansama sheds some light on various measures one can …
The few seconds when the cramp just go away it feels like feeling of heaven on earth🙂 but…when it comes back with another wave it feels like I’m in hell and I feel irritated with whatever goes around.Especially I feel like I’m dying when we have to stand after every hour to wish the teacher in school and sitting straight with that killing cramps.Hats off to us who bear this pain every month
I know women who miss school, college, work due to extreme vomitting, pain, cramps, clots, heavy bleeding, palpitations, breathlessness, heaviness in legs, backache, sleeplessness, indigestion, constipation or diarrhea during periods. They are irritable and unable to sleep or eat or even drink water properly and feel weak even after periods are over. No medicine helps them. They get more pain if they try to exercise or exert physically too much
I used to get periods pain so often that sometimes I wanted to die. But once I ate fruits, vegetables and avoided junk food and did exercise daily and maintained good sleep then magically i didn’t even feel a little pain in that month. Maybe our lifestyle is also a very important thing to be changed.
Whatever measures you have told here is undoubtedly helpful and good. But, my pain is so severe that these measures, even after trying was not helpful for me, since it was a dying experience. I know there’s no such thing in universe which can overcome huge pain a woman undergoes during that time. I pray for all the women there❤️❤️ But ma’am, undoubtedly you are the best speaker and a caring woman like our mother🥰❤️
I’m scrolling thru internet as I’m going thru the pain but it is you who gave me a big relief not just by physical techniques but your words. I was just frustrating about why this is happening but your words made me realise the beauty of being a woman. Your words are so precise, calm and modest, straight to the point that ACTUALLY work !!! I honestly love your website, so natural and down to earth <3 Keep going Dr Hansa and team.
If you are suffering from period pain then follow these tips 1) after your periods are over start exercise or yoga for about 15-20 minutes, ( min 5 days a week) 2) avoid junk as much as possible 3) don’t take mental stress, avoid talking to negative people around you. 4) during morning take 5 minutes of sun bath. I followed these tips for a month and this time my periods were less painful than last month.
I’m kind of speechless right now…I go through the worst period cramps you can imagine and that’s why whenever I get on my period I just take a complete bed rest for 5 days but the thing is that I’m on it right now and I have an examination today as well that too offline and I’m like panicking that how will I manage to go through that 2 hours of time and how am I even gonna solve the papers I wish if it was allowed to carry hot water bag to school for the sake of women but sadly it’s not and we all have to go through all these anxious stuff on our own I mean can’t the system show a bit of respect and consent to us 😑
My first period was when iam at 5th class I don’t know anything in that time after that so many months I suffered a lot because of periods more bleeding and health problems changing doctors at last I over come over bleeding but I am always getting stomach pain now iam btech 3rd year I feel so bad during periods I am at bed only whole day because of pain If I eat anything I got vomitings
No aunty no body understands till date the pain which a girl goes through light pain medium pain is manageable and it relieves from a painkiller rest and exercise hot water bag but acute pain no tablet helps no diet helps and it’s my own experience I used to beg God for death it’s almost a labour pain which a woman goes in a life 1cr or twice but I used to get it every month
These are great tips. But the theory that menstrual cramps are created due to bad lifestyle habits alone is debatable. A lot has to do with individual anatomy. My mother was raised in a village surrounded by a forest, with ample sunlight and she did not consume any junk food, infact they probably consumed the healthiest available food, fresh from their backyard. Also, she was very active, walked to school every day, and lived amidst nature and yet she experienced very severe cramps! So did my grandmother… and now me. I’d probably buy this theory if I was the only one in the last 3 generations who experienced this. Because I admit I follow a very urban and somewhat unhealthy lifestyle. Let’s make room for the fact that some things could be genetic. I simply don’t like the judgement around menstrual cramps. Its unfair. We all are built differently!
I always suffer stomach upset (sour mouth/bloating/indigest etc all) and headache when it’s time of menstrual period. It’s every month I suffer very bad about 3 to 5 days. What should I do to cure that hormonal stomach upset and what yoga routine. Thanks a lot in advance. I’m really appreciate this website and teachers.
0:08 Thank you ji 😫. Honestly after 10 years old, we got the gist that it’s “a natrual phenomenon”. 💁♀️ Please aunty, just cut straight to the Aryvedic plant wisdom. 🙏😭 The outro, was eye-opening though. You’re so right. I’m guilty of letting my stress get to me, which is a no-go during my “friend’s visit”.
Yes boys can help us ; as if he’s a brother not to fight or argue on those days, a boyfriend can take care of her and pet her head or can talk about something that impress him towards you or something you like, a father can provide her medical help if she want or not to shy to talk about this matter if hes not comfortable than he can simply treat her well like a 5 years old girl, a husband can cook food for her if he knows how to cook otherwise make tea/coffee for her( don’t tell me you don’t know how to make tea/coffee,like seriously bro !! She also didn’t know anything about cooking when she was in her Dad’s house and she was a princess, but she became a cook for you and your family, a nanny for your kids, maid for everyone.) She deserves a leave from everything at least on this day when she’s going through this pain and she also deserves love .💞
One advice for everyone to start using menstrual cups after the age of 20. Guys tumlog ko realise nahi hota hoga but due our huge population of women, the amount of pad waste generated is also huge. And plastic is used in both pads and tampons so it cant degenerate easily. Menstrual cups are reusable, comfortable and very safe. U can use the same one for months! We as young girls could atleast do this for the environment 😊✌
1. Apply heat pad or hot water pad in stomach 2. Dietary remedies like anti inflammatory, anti spasmodic herbs. Fennel seeds, saunf, cinnamon and ginger boil these things in water and drink, or a peppermint tea 3. Food rich in boron (avocado, Banana, chickpeas and peanuts) Minimize dairy products and processed foods, Increase of plant base unsaturated fats (almond, flax seeds, walnut, sunflower seeds) 4. Yoga techniques like Supta bhadrasana, matsyasana(Fish pose), Supta Vakrasana, Setu Bandhasana, Ushtrasana(Camel pose), makrasana and shavasana
Mam, all these techniques which you taught here, I practice regularly, I don’t even eat junk food. But after that I got painful cramps . I can’t even explain, stomach pain, back pain, legs pain and vomiting, infact sometimes it becomes so hard to breathe 😣 these all sucks my energy for whole day. I can’t even come out from my bed for one day. I try so hard not to cry but unable to tolerate anymore. It just scare the hell out of me, whenever they start, coz I know that phase. It’s so bad 😭.I try everything but nothing helps. Plz someone tell me something magical 🥺 which can help me 😶. Plzzz god don’t give that pain to anyone, i request you. It’s unbearable.
My periods are so heavy that I can’t eat during periods. This is because I took birth control and it only made periods worse. It’s not very painful but it dictates alot of things. Because of heavy periods I’m scared to do horse riding, can’t eat wheat or gluten, I have to avoid dairy, can’t do sex and can’t ride bysicles. It’s Ok for me but science and medicine is failing women. Till this day they cannot give us proper medication for periods. The only thing that works is to fast during periods and to pray to Jesus Christ.
Dr Asiakale you are indeed God sent, I usually have a very painful flow ever since I was 17years old, I have tried using different drugs but the pains doesn’t stop nor go, I have been living with it and managing with the pain each time my monthly circle comes but ever since last year December when I started using your herb the pains has been subsided and I feel better and comfortable each time my flows comes now. Thank you, am grateful and may God continue to bless and increase you. Amen!!!
Are there any lady’s who’ve tried everything to stop period pain, and control their mood but havent had any success? I’m 23 and just now in the last year have learned how to completely remove my pain love my period & manage my mood without treatments pills, dieting, etc. I’m going to be making a course on how I accomplished this and a few other areas of womanhood. I have adenomyosis, I am in excruciating pain every month I feel like punching out windows ects these doctors dont know what to prescribe due to my chronic kidney disease but Im suffering now as she speaks but I have taken some Tylenol which doesn’t help much, I feel like pulling out my uterus and fallopian tubes, I’m not having anymore kids. This feels like I’m having tripplettes this pain is unbearable but I have no choice but to deal with this pain, at this point I’m used to pain, nothing helps but crying or going to the e. R, on my way now.
Dying seems soooo close and a better option than to tolerate this breathtaking cramps, backache, vomiting, constipation not able to either pass it or come out of the washroom, restlessness and can’t ask for any help because, nobody can help and having painkillers gives the other side effects. A non treatable disease for lifetime. Due to the medicines, I’ve started getting periods in 5th class & today I’m a Graduate 23 years ongoing nothing improved. Can’t do any asana it increases the flow & destroys the clothes. Atleast, in 5th I was unaware what was happening to me which was relaxing but the torture due to the leakage & destroyed clothes everybody even the teachers used to see me as a garbage. A never ending pain.
I litreally have to, on days get painkillers injected because my periods hurt that bad, even medicines have stopped working for me. There’s vomiting, pain like someone is killing me with a knife slowly, there’s body ache, mood swings, extreme chills and non-stop crying. Dear Universe, periods are a blessing, but on days like i explained above, they seem more like a punishment.
Hii I used all natural remedies but it doesn’t work.some time so it’s okk to take mild painkillers. I m also MBBS of final year I have studied from multiple articles and it safe.. and of course you should drink fennel seed eat banana and control sugar consumption.. weight control and and healthy eating specially before 10 days it will take time but it will work and do not hesitate to take mild pain killers like ibuprofen

If sb would come with a remedy to solve this pain(issue), he would get a millionaire. I am trying also everything to release the pain. Hot pillow helps but sometimes…u know what I mean. When I have my days, I’d need help to prepare a food for me cos I’m not able to move. In the past, it was better. I just need to figure it out. There must be a solution!!!!!🙏🏻
These helps reduce the pain based on my own experience: Banana, Hot Cocoa Drink with Vit B, tea like Lipton,I especially drink these before my period starts. During my period I drink fresh basil tea, boil the basil leaves. As soon as my period star I drink 1/2 cup of basil tea and when it started to feel uncomfortable I take 1 cup. Also massage your abdomen with warm oil, hot compress can help. Foods to avoid, dairy prouducts like milk, lemon and cold drinks or foods. My cousin who drink hot cocoa rich in Vit B everyday never gets cramps, as well as my friend who always drink tea. So I tried and it works. And some yoga position is also helpful. My dysmenorrhea is not as painful as before, I do not vomit anymore. I tried many methods before but these are the most effective for me.
