Is it OK to say no to a wedding?
We live in a world of social pressure and are programmed to say “yes” to most events. This is especially true for weddings. “As humans, we don’t want to let our friends and family down. We think the person who invited us will be sad or angry if we don’t come to their event,” says Thomas P. Farley, etiquette expert and founder of Mister Manners. If you don’t have a good reason to say no to a close friend or family member’s wedding, it’s poor etiquette. If the person inviting you isn’t important to you, it’s fine to decline without a good reason. Sometimes we want to go to a wedding, but it’s not the right time, place, or situation for us. This can be because of distance, money, a conflicting event, or health. “We may want to be all things to all people, so any of those reasons would be a good excuse to say you can’t come,” says Farley.

I liked his choice of dress muuuuuch more. So rude of her to keep showing that she don’t think he’s good enough. Why the hell did she do this if she knew she won’t be able nor happy for someone else to take part in the decision making. I can’t see that this marriage will prosper. I feel so sorry for the chap. Same, his self esteem and worth must be so low.
This groom did pretty well, except for the fact that he left his wife to go change into a scarecrow. He could’ve traveled there with his bride and just the groomsmen could’ve met them dressed in overalls. He really did well considering he’s never planned anything on his own before. The bride should be kinder.
She was trying to be a snob, but all she was, was in overall control freak, she only wanted the sleek looking dress to show off her figure….well she would have been better with the one he chose!!! Why did she go on this show…..oh yeh….she didn’t have to pay for anything! The guy was so nice…..poor him, wonder how long it is till they are in court!
I don’t understand why she did this if she had to have so much control over everything. I’m a complete control freak too, but that is why I would never dream of setting my poor fiancee up for a fall by asking him to pick the exact dress, venue etc that I want. And the way she spoke to that shop assistant was rather impolite.
This was a horrible idea for this couple. She said that she was using this an the ultimate test for him to see how well he knew her. She expected to show up and have everything she wanted and perfect. He’s a guy that you’ve been controlling his life for the last 10 years, why would she think he would know anything?
She chose a much more flattering dress. But honestly, 3/4 of the dresses in the shops are strapless, and so many of us just hate strapless dresses. I think he did TRY to choose a nice dress, and he did quite well with the bridesmaids’ dresses. Thank heavens he chose to marry in a church, given the “down home” reception.
Just one question: why everybody keeps saying ‘I fear my day Will be ruined if I don’t get this or that’… if that is so, do not take part in this show, you know the rules and how it works! If you are not willing to take the risk… then you can always organize a standard weeding where you too have decisional power! I just don’t get what these brides are complaining of…
What a horrible woman. Imagine living with that year after year. No respect no appreciation no compassion… Just me my way me my way me me me damn it me. I hate it all plain and simple… So you better get me my perfect dress that i will love even though I hate it all. No sweetie he got it wrong once… Proposing to you.
I hate how horrible people always are towards the brides in the comment sections of these things, how many guys do you know who start planning their entire wedding via Pinterest boards at 16, girls are obsessed with this stuff and if for whatever reason they do hand the task over to their finances, I thing the have the right to complain about some things I mean isn’t that why we watch the show, admit it, it makes it a hell of a lot more entertaining. And you’re all perusal, so obviously you’re entertained but do you have to be self-righteous asses about it at the same time. I mean if you wanna judge so badly I think the Mark guy was selfish for not considering that she might not want such a boyish, farm theme.
Dont know why some of you are saying she is controlling and when exactly was she rude to the assistant i dont think she is or was at all, and the dress, she chose that she would wear had she been in charge of her wedding was beautiful and elegant although i wouldn’t have had the veil as it hides too much of the beautiful back of the dress, the dress he chose looked cheap and tacky if anything he should have chosen the dress on the right definitely not the left. So pleased she was able to change the dress and the one from the window was also beautiful….
