Why did the couple break up in the Marriage Story?
Baumbach doesn’t say what causes the divorce. Maybe it’s Charlie’s affair with the stage manager, or maybe it’s Nicole’s desire to rebuild his career in Los Angeles, or maybe it’s something that happens outside the film. Without knowing why they divorce, Marriage Story is a great example of how small things can hurt a marriage. The film raises questions about custody, living arrangements, and bank accounts to show how frustrating the legal process of divorce can be. The movie shows the technical mess of the divorce, but also the humane part. Marriage Story shows how keeping things friendly can be eroded by a legal process. Nora and Jay, two sharp lawyers, want to win no matter what.

Good grief. A) try it on. B) the dress she wants is out there…find a new wedding dress store…clearly what you want isn’t there and the saleswomen don’t care to put in the effort to find it. When I was looking from my dress I had an idea of what I wanted but my dress ended up being nothing like what I was thinking except for a bohemian feel. It was less than $500 and I absolutely loved it. 3rd I tried on but still tried on more. It was the one dress that gave me all the feels and that’s what is supposed to happen.
What blows my mind is the first guy claim that’s a 2,000 pound dress. He has to be lying because that’s too much for a dress like that. And those bridesmaids were completely justified in their opinions on the dresses. He did them dirty and it was disrespectful, they were cheap dresses and the drawings them put on them look like a joke. Meanwhile his groomsmen had pretty good suits and ties. If that was my bridesmaids I would be MAKING them go through their closets and find better dresses, it’s a joke. His own friends were awkward about it because even they knew that he messed up. He didn’t budget properly and cheap out on her bridesmaids, lets be real.
The last one with the bridesmaids is outrageous. If my man did that to my best friends, got a marker and drew on it like a drunken toddler I would consider it completely disrespectful and cancel. I know they have a contract which makes the women feel pressured to go through with it, but I’d rather cover the costs of half of the $12,000 not going through with the wedding and consider it a better price to pay than a divorce in a few years time.
I got news for those guys, those weddings would have been called off if it was me. I feel absolutely sorry for, and angry at, the women that allowed these guys to do this to them. I mean let’s be real here, there were numerous signs prior to the wedding day of the men’s total disregard and disrespect for their fiances.
It’s sad what happened to the bridesmaids. Even the said, “I want you to be comfortable.” She wasn’t happy with what they had, but at least they were better than cheap white t-shirts with drawings on them. I’d be furious if my bridesmaids were disrespected like that. Absolutely fuming. I would’ve driven us all to the closest mall and bought them all new dresses. Screw being late, the groom could tell them why. Or I’d just call off the wedding all together and pay the fine.
The thing is, it really seems like they don’t think about their partner at all. It’s not like you are marrying a stranger. You should have an idea of what the bride wants. There was an Irish one where the guy planned a full Harry Potter wedding when the partner had never seen a single one of the movies.
I really don’t get these women you know? They get money for their wedding and they may not necessarily get their ‘dream dress’ but they just come off as ungrateful, horrible, bratty and mean. I had to have my dress made by someone I knew and had the whole thing done, reception and all with £500. Fed thirty plus people and bought presents to say thanks to the people who you usually thank. Wasn’t asking people to donate to the wedding or outrageously priced gifts. Weddings are meant to be about joining two hearts and souls together and they ask those people to share in their special day because they love those people right?! Since when did it all become about getting like this when they are given thirteen grand free or exorbitant present requests or honeymoon donations?! Worlds gone crazy!! I may no longer be married but if I get married again I would still not act like this….
“Just girls I guess” bruh they were given cheap shit with stupid doodles all over it. Those girls and the bride have every right to react like that and saying something as stupid as “just girls I guess” is even more insulting and shows how little that groomsman takes the situation seriously (the groom was having a little giggle as well) what pricks lmao
These make me so happy that my Significant Other is so amazing and understands and supports me so much. They’re so amazing and so so handsome. God, just, I love my Significant Other more than ever right now. Edit: that last man needs to keep both eyes open when he sleeps. I know the bride must be livid
This seems so fake. Don’t couples COMMUNICATE? Is it only physical? No sharing of likes/dislikes, hopes, dreams, fears? No paying attention when deep, personal things are shared? These grooms are strangers even though they have been dating their brides for years. That’s so sad. Better to be alone than unknown by your partner.
The bridesmaids do know the day isnt about them dont they all the groom cares about is his future wife looking perfect no ones going to be focusing on the bridesmaids yes the dresses were horrid but i would of just rang him and rather then have a temper tantrum i would of calmly suggested can we all just wear our own dresses then slap him around the head once the cameras are gone
It’s really telling how brides being rightfully upset or sad they’re having a “meltdown”, meanwhile the bar for these men is basically underground. “At least he tried”, “what did she expect?” Like – as if she shouldn’t be able to trust him. Stop expecting less than the bare minimum of men, its exhausting. They’re not infants. If they’re being this selfish they’re in the wrong, not the women getting rightfully upset.
The problem is not wich this guys don’t know buy or pick up a dress but the fact them just don’t care! For them is just a joke or they don’t really care about he’s girlfriend being a joke in front of her family I mean is not possible they don’t know pick a simple dress. I hope no one of this girls married with this “boys” look them laughing they know that it is horrible … girl come on, have some self esteem please if want marry do with a real man not a boy.
For me the dress is really important. Because it is what makes you confident. Some people may not agree, but if it’s your day, of course you would want to feel confident. Some people might think that’s shallow, because it’s just a dress but what you wear can really affect your mindset. If it what makes you happy then fight for it.
If there is such a show in Canada I sure fucking hope none of my friend or close family would try this kind of thing for a marriage when clearly the producer must be/are subtly pushing behind the man to fuck up in some way. (tho I’d also hope they have a partner that as some common sense and wouldn’t pull shit like this and being 100% inconsiderate of them.) But as much fakeness is put in that, there’s no way there isn’t some kind of truth behind the dickness some of those guys have. I get it, it a show, but being that amused and delighted by your soon to be wife being this upset over what you picked for her and her bride maid is just horrible and I hope those ladies found someone better. Clearly to react in such a way you don’t deserve a wife.
I just don’t understand that the GROOM chooses (being given a BUDGET or the MONEY to pay)the bride’s and bridesmaid’s dresses and groom just pay mean the groom could choose ALL the “other stuff” if it’s the tradition the groom pay for the WHOLE wedding; another thing that errks me is the BRIDE TO BE has NOT the least idea of her husband to be? I mean do they NOT talk about the wedding, like theme, dresses (size, type, color, fabrics, etc, etc, plus accessories) venues, bachelorette and bachelor parties, you know things you talk about with your future husband SPECIALLY if he is going to pick, select and pay and YOU WILL NOT GET TO SEE OR KNOW OF ANYTHING WILL THE DAY OF?? Just saying Please Take Care Be Safe 🙂
1:35 the lady in the black dress shouldn’t be mad for getting chewed out by the bride’s mother because a bride can’t go to her wedding in a dress that’s see through, tacky, with beading that falls off when you barely pull on it and the only thing nice about it is the flowers on it but other than that it’s an awfully disgusting dress for any bride to wear on her wedding day
If he was on budget on something and could only afford t-shirts, I think there could’ve been a way to make them work. 1. Don’t buy white. 2. Don’t draw on them. 3. Pair it with a nice skirt or jewelry pieces or something to take away from the fact it’s a t-shirt. I completely understand their anger and frustration. Had they not drawn on them, it could’ve been manageable.
Long story short… This why the bride. Plan the wedding . She puts everyone in consideration.. Every color piece of fabric down the to the flavor of the cake.. Is very important.. It all suppose to mean something suppose to come together like a puzzle… It’s not an insult to men.. But to y’all it’s important but not that important.. To us.. Our life is changing and we wanna make an grand ass entrance into that new life… Periodt
This programme is a massive example of women with such low self esteem that they’ll go through with a wedding to men who are selfish, uncaring and prioritises them after their mates. It’s also a massive example of men who do not have a clue! The one where the bridesmaids are in tacky t shirts and the men are suit and booted – and the men STILL say the women are annoying! Ridiculous!
Is it customary for the grooms in England to handle the wedding planning? I’ve never seen this show until this, my second youtube article. They seem pretty bad at it. I guess that they aren’t all bad. But I definitely wouldn’t trust any man that I have ever dated or encountered with the details of wedding planning.
Okay these are all ridiculous, but the last one? Holy shit. First off, only the bride is supposed to wear white at the wedding. That’s kind of common logic that everyone and their brother should know. Also, you’re telling me that as Bridesmade dresses you bought white tanktop dresses, drew on them, and expected your future wife and bridesmaids to be happy with that? Especially while you and your groomsmen all have nice suits? And then you say “it’s annoying”? Dude, she needs to leave him. Honestly, if this happened to me I would’ve left him. It’s not about the material aspects of it, it’s about the blatent disregard for her feelings/doing something for the bridesmaids last minute and making sure your groomsmen look 100 times better than the bridesmaids.
Seriously. I’m really confused. These brides are crying about their dresses like, are they getting married tomorrow? Why is the husband picking out the dress? Why isn’t there a fitting? How is someone else picking out a dress that isn’t anywhere near your size? That shouldn’t even matter! “Ok. I like this dress, now can we find one in my size, or closer to my size? That way we can get it tailored because we actually still have a couple of months before the wedding?” What kind of madness is this? Edit: Wait…Did she just say it’s 3 hours until the wedding? And their just figuring out what the bridesmaids are wearing? WTF is this up to the husbands??? Edit: Edit: Ok. I just googled the name of the show. Letting the husband plan the wedding is the theme of the show. You all are bonkers! X-D
The first groom needs to start as he means to continue with the mother-in-law and not let her ruel hsi relationship with his wife. What si wrong wth the groom who got a dress whcih is too big and too small at the same time? Aren´t they given measurements? Those last bridesmaids need to get over themselves… especially Purpley. Their own dresses looked worse.
