“I want to expose a lie”. That is some great communication. It says ” this is what is going on in my head, but in my heart I know it’s not true about who you are. However, it’s what I’m thinking which is very well a thought planted by the enemy.” I’ll take this into my next relationship, the Lord grace me to have one…
Ladies I fought for mine once I was truly Saved about 15 yrs into a 27 yr marriage, and my hubby was far from.. I fought on my knees, studied and learned and got counseling for years. I could not save the relationship with the Enemy continually trying every way to divide. Criticism, alcohol, money, worldly things. I know God was/is for me, the Mother, worker, faithful wife, but I guess it wasn’t in HisWill that I stay with such a man who refused the Lord, tho the kids & I were baptized. He refused to go to counseling and just deserted me and left while we were at church. God hates divorce but also stiff neck atheists who lie, cheat and steal. I live happily single fully dedicated to God, no man.
The part about the husband spending time with the Master to get motivated then washing his wife with the Word and filling up her love tank… that made so much sense of the desires I’ve been having for my own marriage but I have totally come off as a nag. And we’ve been happily married for 11 years! Still figuring things out… Thank you for this!!! Improving marriages all over the place!
My wife and I had the privilege to attend a weekend to remember that was co-lead by the couple the Fabian’s are describing. When I tell you the humility they both walked in through the brokenness in their marriage convicted me deeply about my unforgiveness toward my bride. The couple mentioned they were writing a book about the experience hopefully you all have them on “With the Perry’s” when it drops. God is amazing!
I’m not married but I learned so much, I loved the practical technique of exposing the lies, recognising this feeling is not absolute truth but sometimes exaggerated seeds planted by the devil. Being able to say it loud releases the burden on you but gives your spouse a chance to tell you how they feel too. This conversation was really a blessing 💕🙏🏾
I’m a teenager but this really spoke to me. I realised that most of my generation’s expectations around marriage, sex, relationships, friendships, children and so much more, has stemed from secular ideologies because worldly people are leading these conversations. I’m very grateful for all the podcasts and shout out to the Fabians🥰, as soon as you said that you’re starting a podcast I searched it😹. I’m here for it… each and every second of it. God bless you all❤️👏🏽
I’m not religious, but I really enjoyed this talk from all of their perspectives! The last story about the AT&T guy got me! Melody was so funny, but that question, “are you happy,” really gets a lot of people. Often times marriage will come to many points when you ARENT happy, like CD and Melody were saying. Just because you arent happy in that current point of your relationship doesn’t mean you didn’t make an oath to work it out and do life with your partner. Beautiful stories!
I’m not married, but hearing Mrs. Fabien talk about how she needs multiple days to really internally process stuff makes me feel so seen!! It’s hard with my girlfriend since we’re opposites in that way and I feel a pressure as the man to resolve things, but to know that it’s actually okay to take time to be with God first is so encouraging 😖😭
I’m listening to the podcast now, and it’s soooo good! I love the part Melody mentions about recognising the devil was at work. At it is such a good handle for relationships even beyond marriages. Take every thought captive and present it before the Lord. Thank you so much for this, the Fabiens and The Perrys. It’s such a blessing. Shout out to you too Kim, we love you!❤
I had to listen to this in increments. There was so much emet (truth) that it forced me to have to pause and evaluate the actions or lack thereof in my marriage. I’m experiencing a separation from my husband that pushed me to look at previous abandonment I had undergone. Despite the separation, I still fight in prayer for my marriage against the enemy who I know only comes to kill, steal, and destroy.
As a newlywed (who’s approaching our first year!) THIS 🔥 This has been such a humble, encouraging and Spirit led conversation. We needed this both for perspective and for language to communicate to one another. This conversation is blessing marriages and families. Thank you for being real and sharing much needed wisdom 🤍
We do the hand on the arm with one “excuse me.” We always get complimented on our children’s manners but it’s because my mom’s wisdom was drilled into my head when I had kids. -She said, “how you allow them to act in your home, is how they will act in public.” So whenever addressing behavior I would ask, “do I want that behavior out there?” And that’s how we decided what was ok, and what wasn’t.
This episode is my favorite, not because the others lacked value but because it resonates with my Haitian heritage. I’m proud of Mr. Daniel’s wisdom, which has blessed my husband and me. It’s unfortunate that Haiti is often associated with mostly Voodoo, overlooking its strong Christian leaders. Melodie and Daniel serve as wonderful mentors, and their impact is significant. Thank you, Perry family, for your inspiring message.
I remember CD and Melody came out to Camden when I was in youth group and taught on purity. Their ministry is such a blessing. Now, being married, I appreciate this conversation so much. It’s crazy how the enemy does not have a new trick in his book! He uses the same tactics and honestly better for us identify and expose him. It had not been easy to always discern when spiritual ware fare is taking place in our marriage but we’ve recently been seeing how vital it is to be on guard. And to have friendships, accountability, mentors that love Jesus and are spirit led as we continue to mature spiritually. We have those people in our lives but I usually shy away from reaching out to them because of fear of sharing too much. But I’m SO grateful that you guys shared your stories because it helps me know, “oh it’s not just me” and to be bold enough to pray against the attacks and seek council. To the Perry’s and the Fabien’s, Thank you.
Wow, the fact that this speaks so much to my marriage!!! It’s literally as if I came to each couple and said “it’s ok to use my husband and I as examples for your show”; down to the dreams!!! My husband kept having dreams about me cheating (which I’ve never struggled with in any relationship…) and literally had to praaaaaaay against those thoughts of things that never happened… Wow, this confirmed that our marriage is definitely stressing the enemy out and he’s using the same tactics! NOTHING is new under the SUN.
I am single but try to prepare myself in case God had marriage in the plan for me. Recently I have undergone a level of warfare that I have only encountered 1 other time in my life. I was truly at a breaking point and listening to this helped me break out when she spoke about the enemy telling her to leave. So much of what they said shined light on things for me that helped me stand firm and fight! Thank you to all 4 of you for being faithful to God.
This episode was exactly what I needed to hear. Preston, Jackie, CD, and Melody, thank you so much for being vessels of ministry for the Lord. God used this episode to answer so many questions and to encourage both me and my husband. These written words don’t hold the weight of thankfulness I feel in my heart. Because you shared, we were finally able to have deeper communication and it definitely drew us closer.
This was SOOOO GOOOODDD! When y’all started talking about the devil trying to get us to leave our spouse!!!! I used to have those exact thoughts whenever I got upset with my husband. The only difference was the devil would tell me to leave and take the children. He would glamorize the idea of divorce and coparenting every other weekend because I would get more time to myself, and he would try to appeal to my ego by telling me that my husband doesn’t appreciate me but when I leave he’ll finally see what he had and constantly begging me to come back and I would be “the one that got away”. In my pursuit for Jesus and speaking the name of Jesus over my marriage God revealed to me that the Devil was trying to use me to bring my husband unimaginable emotional pain and send him in a downward spiral. God had to give me the tools and scripture to cast that enemy out of my mind. This past year God has truly transformed our marriage!
There are tears in my eyes listening to this conversation. I am a mom and a grandmother. I came from dysfunction.m, so needless to say some of that rubbed off on my oldest son. He is married in his early 30’s and their marriage is so sad to watch. They need help because I am now saved. I know their marriage can thrive and be good if they have the kind of ministry available to them that is being discussed here. Their hurt is valid but I would love to see them move from that camp ground of hurt and unforgiveness.
Very powerful and needed! Literally the words were taken from my brain today as a wife and conversations we’ve recently had!!! Love my Sister Melody Fabian, she’s the real deal! Went to school with her! ❤❤😊 Love the Perry’s always holds me accountable in my marriage and I’m 19 years in my marriage! I pray that God continues to bless you both & the Fabien’s and keeps your families and ministries!!! 🙏🙏🙏 The devil is definitely at war w/ our marriages…🤔🙌
This was one of the best conversations on marriage, EVER! It was just what I needed, when I needed to hear it. I took notes as if I were in a class. The notion of allowing your imagination to take you outside of where God has you was spot on! That convicted me to my core. Moving forward I will acknowledge it as the work of the devil. Thanks for sowing such a profound word into our hearts. May God continue to bless your ministries!
The devil doesn’t like Marriage… There’s power in unity. The people were in one accord when they received the Holy Ghost. The first humans were given dominion over the earth…together Unity tears down the gates of hell. When a husband and wife come together and pray, the devil has no stronghold. Expose the devil outside constantly, because that’s how he’s demolished
I was laying on my bed listening and singing this song and I placed my hand on the part of my body where I was sick and I called the name of Jesus and I believed he could heal me, once and for good and He Did, The name of JESUS is really powerful, it’s been given to us so that we may call his in front of any situation no matter how bad and big it seems, That name is above all….thank you Jesus. I love you Lord
Thank you so much for sharing this! I need you guys to know that this has really ministered to me! I am wide awake right now. Just crying like never before! Because marriage is sooo hard 🙁 and to hear that there are others going through it it helps. I’m so hurt so just feeling overwhelmed ! But sometimes you just got to listen. 🙁 thank you again .
Thank you all sooo very much, such sound words spoken from God’s Word from you alls mouths to my ears! Needed all that was expressed, really was blessed by all that was said through you alls transparency and vulnerability. Received so many answers and answers that I didn’t know were there that I needed, like those opportunities from God to be better!!! Thanks again and again and again, may God continue to increase your ministries with all of his power, love, and his strength!!! Stay Blessed!!!❤
WOW!!!!! this was full of wisdom and knowledge!!! This conversation was so much bigger then the title!!! Jewels!! Thanks so much for the ministry on both couples!!! Every time I thought of a question, In the next moment yall answered! The flow of the spirit was so beautiful! And can I just say the yall left no un answered questions! Yall covered so much about marriage and etc. Wow Am definitely sharing this! Thanks yall for letting God use u to bless us

Thank you guys thank you guys thank you. Continue to allow the Lord to use you. I got so much out of this article. It was much needed!
This session is so weighty in such a good way my oh my, this is something to always pull out when you need to massage your heart to get through difficulties in a marriage. I’m not even married yet or dating, but this is such a good conversation to equip yourself under along with the word of God to have in your tool box ❤🙏🏾
I have a wonderful beautiful marriage to my wife because we both went into it with humility and trust in God and we prayed everyday together before marriage that Jesus will be our cornerstone. 20 years later not only strong but we are even deeper in a unified marriage w Jesus as our cornerstone. I’m so thankful to God.
Unless one is humble and forgiving you cannot save your marriage. Sometimes you have to swallow your pride and forget past mistakes. Remember also to put GOD at the center of our marriage. I learn a lot from this talk. Very real and sensible. Thank you very much Mr and Mrs. Warren. May God bless your marriage with many years of happiness.
Please also pray for my marriage. I have a lot to work on myself and I need to be a better example to my wife and 1 year old daughter. I’m at the end of the road but with God all things are possible. I got kicked put my in laws and I’m sleeping on a coach with absolutely nothing, 2 pairs of boxers and socks. Haven’t seen my daughter in a week. Pray for all of us to soften our hearts and hear eachother out and be happy. Amen
My husband and I are not ok for the past 11 months now… despite the fact that i am 20 weeks preganant with our second child he still doesn’t show any signs of saving our marriage after everything i have done to keep us together… im very depressed but i have to take care of myself and the child inside of me… please pray for us… i want to stay married for my children and because i love my husband so much…
Please pray for me. My wife said she loves her siblings more than me. She has taken on thousands of dollars debt to help her mother and whose siblings have not and will not share. We have been married 20 years, separated off and on 11 yrs, and indefinitely separated for 9 of those 20 years. God bless those who pray for me.
“A great marriage is a union of two great for forgivers.” I love this! I’m not married, but I’m so happy to have found them. I’m studying to be a better person; and, hopefully, to be ready when God sends the right partner. I am trying to recover from a breakup right now that has me questioning everything. I was the forgiver and the compromiser throughout. I can’t always be the only one to give, forgive, and give in. I’m trusting God for great not good enough! 🙏🏽
First I would like to say congratulations on your marriage ❤️. Second I have been married for 25 years, I could not imagine being with everyone else. She’s the one thing in my life that I could not get threw my days without her. And I truly pray 🙏 that the rest of the world would wake up and see their lives would he so wonderful ❤️ with the right person. God bless you and your family 🙏. Greg.
God sure wanted me (and I am encouraging my wife to watch this as well) to see/hear this article. It is a very timely message (especially the second half) that is badly needed by my wife and me, and I thank you for it, from the depths of my soul. It will go a long way (after our 38 years of marriage) to helping my wife and I get through the “tunnel” we are currently going thru (our “Winter”).
I am so tired. I can’t see my marriage working without God. I will like to put God first, life our marriage is falling apart. But my husband doesn’t think it is necessary to do so. I am so tired physically and mentally. Our relationship is stuck! Stuck in hurt, stuck in criticism, stuck in the blame game. 💔😑 no room for errors no room for grace nor forgiveness, no room for improvement. I have voice to him that without God life doesn’t work atleast I can’t imagine it.
Rick you are awesome. We got married for 21 years till my husband passed away with a kidney failure. Now I’m a widow. I wish I found your teaching in our marriage life. I could use some of your advice. What survive our marriage is I joked a lot with closeness to our loving Heavenly Father in prayers.😇🎉🧡💞😇😚
That’s exactly my problem 😂. My husband never lock the doors and I thought he should because that’s what my father does and I grew up seeing my father do that. He on the other hand did not grow up that way. It was frustrating every night until I just decided to lock the doors myself and teach my 19 year old son to do it too. It feels good that there’s another wife in another country like that. Thanks to this message. I’m learning a lot. 😊
I am not a follower of pastor Rick Warren, Indeed, this may be the first time I have ever listened to one of his sermons. I actually woke up listening to his discussion of marriage and honoring and sustaining the same, on YouTube. A fortuitous accident indeed. A highly moving, informative and profound discussion, by Rick Warren and his lovely wife Kay, of the most important institution of mankind, the marriage of a man and a woman.
This entire message was and is a huge blessing. My pervious comment at the time and in perusal the entirety of this message highlighted the openness of their relationship vulnerabilities, true commitment, truth, humility and much more with such important subject about marriage today. I learned a lot from their openness with respect. Thank you.
My husband applied for a court order that I should leave our house by the 1 december 2016. I am in so much pain right now. I tried my very best to save our marriage but he said he had enough and wants to separate asap. I have been praying to God to give our marriage a chance but he doesn’t want to do it anymore. It breaks my heart more when my child ask me to draw a family and she was saying “one daddy, one mommy, one baby hushy”. :'( Just feeling hopeless at this moment. Please GOD save our family and our marriage in JESUS name Amen
You two are the most beautifulest people I’ve ever seen. Thank you for puting out all this info. I’ve sent forward this article & a few other articles to my grown children. I thank you both, for your knowledge, & sharing such personal information. I’ve been married 26 years, than divorced my husband for 8 years. Got invested in him again, but not a real union, for we only live with one another. I want marriage again, but he won’t agree, as hff e speaks it, but his actions speak louder, because he hasnt taken the action to do so. I’m ready to give up on him, which I know it isnt correct, but what else can I do. I dont want to continue in just as it is. It’s not fulfilling. I cant even get him to keep his words even on the smallest things, as example to go on a date. I’ve given my best to do & give him, what things I ask of him. I feel betrayed, uncared for, not respected, & an option. I’m hurt, so deeply, and its like my needs are not important. 😔😪 Sincerely tired! I’m so happy to see & hear that you two have over come lifes difficults. May God continue to keep you both together, as you both have worked very hard to reach 40 years. Congradulations. It is a very big accomplishment. God bless. 😇
Love this, everything thing that is said is what I have always thought A marriage so be. But what happens when you are the only one fight for the marriage and you don’t want to give up And the other person just can’t handle the hard times And keeps you at arms length and uses the reason for leaving is just not To try but give up. Walk away and just fix them self and not work as A team and fix the marriage as well. Or when your spouse doesn’t have faith Like you do.
Please pray for my marriage too as too much fighting going on because he wants to talk yo girls he says he isn’t but his ex has been talking to him and won’t leave him.alone or another girl and we fight over this all the time and then there is Spades if they on him he is verbally abusive yo me so restore this marriage. to being with each other Please Dear Lord Amen! I loved perusal this it hit to core of our marriage problems thank you Amen
I lost my first wife in and accident. Just lost my 2and wife to divorce. It’s been so much worse than my first lose andni have no words to Express the pain and suffering in my life now. I am praying for a complete marrige restoration and revival. Some may think I am crazy but with God all things are possible. He can do love than I can ever imagine or ask for. My heart is shattered and torn and only Jesus can heal it and mend what satan came to and did destroy. Tour wordsbhavenso much meaning Pastor Rick. Thank you for your words. Gos bless you.
i have this deep love and feeling in my body that God will help us restore our divorce. She matters to me and I am learning to love as you said you didn’t know how either.. She is a beautiful soul and Christian women and she forgot the commitment we made to another as i believe we can become stronger and more faithful with this winter season we went thru,,, Thank you to you Both
What if your marital problems are about jealousy and control? My husband and I have been separated for over 3 years now because of his controlling every single thing, I couldn’t hardly leave the house, plus he is an alcoholic. Those are not differences or simple problems that weren’t discussed on this article. We are both in other relationships now but God has been tugging at my heart and I’ve been feeling confused as to what to do.
Please pray for my marriage we are separated due to mistakes that i have made, im remorseful and convicted, and i changed my life, i walk with god and i understand marriage and family and what it should have been, my wife im sorry and i love you please forgive me, i pray its not to late to save my marriage
In the enneagram faith is represented by enneagram 6 (thoughts) which integrates into enneagram 9 (bodily actions) which represents love which integrates into enneagram 3 (positive feelings) which represents hope. So Pastor Warren is correct that love starts with a thought that leads to action that leads to positive feelings. In summary Faith = thought + action. Love = Action + feeling. Hope = feeling + thought.
It’s not what we think, it’s what God says. We are called to love God first, them one another without judgment. People know the answer to these questions because it’s written in there hearts. Stop putting people on the spot when you know the truth of God. Rick is a human like everyone. He is a man of God.
I worked the last 14 years. I’ve slowed down to try to get that family time back but get told go to work been trying to work on communication with her she doesn’t have time to talk or go out when I try to make time. Even bought self help books for both, been going to church on a regular with the kids, but can’t get the wife to go has faith but will not go. I’ve been learning lot more on the word and understanding where I want wrong but I’m not aloud to bring anything up about what I learned in reading the bible but we have scripture on the wall but can’t talk about it. Yes I wish I woke up earlier. She claim it’s not going to work I keep responding I have faith but still get told not going to work. I been trying to show love but get coldness back. I keep prying to turn around it sometime does for few days then back to cold.
You have solid reasoning and communicate well… I think your ideas and points are much better philosophy than other Christian Promotors of thinking ABOUT the Bible.. Thank you telling us your ideas … I think if you ever just interpret SCRIPTURE itself, that would be like Dynamite! And your ideas obviously come from years of loving God’s word… And NO ONE can honestly deny you scratch ears better than most TV evangelical Industrial 501C-3 NGO’s
my husband left and doesn’t show he loves me anymore he doesn’t live with me he doesn’t text me or call me, I never cheated.. he says he wants a divorce he is very very cold to me.. we had a rough patch because he had recently been found out about a few things.. and I became a bit paranoid so maybe I ran him off.. but I don’t deserve that I didnt deserve to be lied to or kept secrets from.. but I wanted to make my marriage work.. I tried everything I could .. I’m really hurting because we’ve known each other since grade school and he practically harrased me every year telling me that he would marry me some day, we finally did and for him to all of sudden just leave and not have any feeling for me at all hurts.. I dont know what to do..
Do you have any articles for adults who found the love of their life, but they died? My good friend was in Brazil visiting her family and her uncle stabbed her. Her husband was baptized moths before she left for Brazil, but he doesn’t know how to cope with the loss. They were members of saddleback church.
What do you do when you were willing to make that commitment but your spouse left you anyway? I want so desperately to have my wife and my children back…but she doesn’t even speak to me. I’m standing for my marriage even tho the divorce is already complete, I’m giving this to God, but the pain in waiting is unbearable. I don’t know what to do.
holy cow- light bulb ON! If you extrapolate from Ephesians 5:25-33 the metaphor of earthly marriage’s reflection of Christ’s marriage to the Church, would not then the issues of our marriages be the same issues we have in our relationship with God? Do we really trust God? Are we dissatisfied with the way God fulfills requests? Are we unsure what will anger God? Do we fear him more than love Him? Are we quicker to speak to Him than we are to listen? Are we ungrateful or resentful of Him? Do we “cheat” on Him with other Gods, like money, success, and putting others before Him? Do we doubt Him? Are we disrespectful to Him? We will treat our spouse the same way. Please pray for my marriage, my husband, and myself as we struggle to walk this out better, because we’re not doing it very well.
Marriages happen on earth and are meant to last for eternity. Just as baptism is to happen in this earth life (and not the next) and the effects of baptism is to last forever. Paul talks of baptisms for the dead because baptisms can’t happen in the next life, just like marriages can’t take place in the next life but in this life (or by proxy.) Although baptism and marriage happens on this earth they are eternal in duration.
Am asking for prayers for my husband and to be together. My husband has lied to me about filing a fake divorce because he get involved with a scammer who believes that she will marry him and there is no divorce filed and he knows this. But he wants to fight about it . But she take his money and run with his money and he making me pay for his mistakes but he told me give a week so he decided If we could get back together I know he still loves and I love him and want us back together
It wouldn’t be a good example or role model for a child to grow up in a home where the parents ” stayed together for the kids” but the parents commit adultery, show how much they hate each other, have an abusive relationship, and are miserable. It wouldn’t be good for a child to grow up being raised by a unrepentant sinner. There is no point in getting married if both people don’t obey God.
Sorry Pastor Rick, but to stay together for the sake of the kids? Unselfishness? Mature? Don’t do what is best for you? Narcissism? Let me ask you this….Would you preach the same thing to a woman with 2 small sons who is in an abusive relationship to “stay together for the sake of the kids”? Some times it takes a stronger love of those kids to leave than it does to stay.
