The bride of Christ, the church, is prepared for her wedding feast and is clothed in white linen, representing her righteous acts. Getting ready, walking worthy, and overcoming are the righteous acts of the saints that prepare her to be His wife in the resurrection to the Kingdom of God. As the bride of Christ, we must prepare for a ceremony and feast, which will lead to the ultimate culmination and the true reward for us who are the bride of Christ.
The Bible describes the church as a bride preparing to appear in unblemished splendor before her loving Bridegroom Jesus. The bride is required to yield to God to be ready exactly when He is, but it does not specify how painful it is or what she has to go through to be ready.
In Revelation 19:7-9, the bride-Church makes herself ready for the wedding feast, with fine linen, bright, and clean given to her to wear. John saw the Bride of Christ’s preparation and fell down in worship of the angel who had shown him. Jesus said to the 5 unwise Virgins that He never knew them, and they didn’t have an intimate knowledge of Him.
To be ready for the wedding feast, we must say “yes” to the proposal, allow the Holy Spirit to transform us into a worthy bride, put on the dress, and spend time with the groom. It is very important that Jesus’ bride be “ready” for Him, trusting in and yielding to Him so that he can perfect us. We cannot make ourselves perfect, but we must trust in and yield to Jesus so that He can perfect us.

Be ready because the Son of Man will come at an unexpected time. (Matt. 24:42–44.) Let us heed this warning and prepare for the Lord’s coming. Would it not be strange if the Lord came and did not send messengers to prepare the way? Should we expect the Lord to come and judge the world without first warning us and preparing a way for those who repent? Noah warned the world of the flood. If they had listened, they would have escaped. Moses led Israel into the promised land. John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus. In each case, God spoke to them through the sky. Isaiah, Jeremiah, and other prophets warned Israel and Judah before they were scattered and captured. If they had listened, history would have been different. They had a chance to hear, but they were warned and had the chance to escape, but they didn’t.

As we approach this passage, let’s first remind ourselves that the primary purpose of the Bible’s teachings on end time events is not merely to satisfy our curiosity. Rather, it is to reveal how to live now in light of future events. *As you read through Mark 13, look for the exhortations—watch out, be on guard, stay awake! Note especially the final verse of the chapter, where Jesus said this: “And what I say to you, I say to everyone: Be alert!” (v. 37). The Greek word translated “be alert” (“stay awake,” “watch”) is the very last word of the chapter, and Jesus’ final word on this subject in Mark’s Gospel. It is where the emphasis lies in Mark 13.
