  • As happy as this is, he is extremely lucky that she took this joke so well. I know people who would understandably get sick of their emotions being played with. I knew a guy who would make this same joke with his girlfriend, my friend. Except with him, he would never actually propose after 6 years. It kind of became clear he was never going to commit, and this was his way of mocking her. Again, I’m glad that it is different for this couple, and that they are happy. But because of my experience with my friend being hurt this way, I can’t see a fake joke proposal as anything but a red flag.

  • If I fake proposed to my girlfriend, it would hurt her feelings and she would probably seriously consider how serious I was about the relationship and if it’s actually something she wants to invest more time into. I hope people don’t try to replicate this because it’s going to hurt feelings and I doubt it will be interpreted as cute especially if she’s expecting a proposal

  • No. Don’t do this. Don’t fake a proposal. Ever. Especially if you haven’t had a deep discussion about marriage at some point beforehand. Most people wouldn’t find pranking a proposal funny. The timescale doesn’t look long and they’re both G E N U I N E L Y laughing, that’s the key here. But there was an edge of ‘I’m tolerating your BS for now’ about her expression.

  • There’s no such a thing like fake proposal. If you intend to get married, the couple need to talk about it and together decide that they’re going to get married. The proposal is just a romantic act. There’s no way that it’s out of surprise. If a guy propose and receive a solid No, it’s because he deserves it, it means they never accorded to grow a life together before.

  • My advice to younger people as mid 30s male. Marry young, decide before marriage what your core beliefs are, find that spouse that shares that and grow together. All marriage is, is realizing you are constantly changing and growing and you must be willing to share that with another human being. Going on year 12 in October and married in my early 20s. Be faithful
