  • My wife’s Thai I met her when I was living in Thailand. We’ve been together 10 years, with two children. My son came home crying from school one day, because they said his mum was here for a visa. It’s not fair to judge people from these countries as mail order brides because of their race and what the media says. We are just a guy and a girl who met when working in Thailand together. I was the one who needed a visa when I was there.

  • I read a book about mail order brides in New Zealand for more than 100 years ago. Many brave men went there from Ireland, UK, Scandinavia, but not so many young women. So they had adds in British church newsletters go get “good” girls who could work hard. Fascinating story. The exchange of letter took months, since they were transportet on sail ships.

  • I want a 53 year old Russian woman who is poor to marry me and let me move to Russia with her, I’m 53 and poor myself from the state’s. But they’re not easy to find. I can’t get a US passport but am willing to renounce my citizenship if Russia would aloud me to do so through marriage. I can teach English and work in the calling centers in Russia and just finally enjoy myself from capitalism once and for all. I have always lived a poor Life and would adapt easy. I prefer her to be my age in her 50′ s.

  • list25 here are the ways you have messed up. #1 25 facts is a lot for any topic, so sometimes your content can be weak. #2 people are getting tired of just 25 fact articles, for one you post too often and to you need some variety. look at Matthew Santoro, he only posts twice a week and rotates between three topics and his views have not dropped he still averages over a mil a article. Just some tips, but what do I know I’m not a YouTuber

  • I’ll tell you a story. I met a Russian girl back in the late 80’s, she was a friend of a co-worker who came over when they started letting the Jewish people emigrate. She knew this girl from Moscow and invited her to come on a tourist visa. This girl overstayed her visa, she didn’t want to go back. The USSR was falling apart and it wasn’t the best of times. Anyway, this girl, she asked if I would marry her so she could get a green card. I said sure, what did I care. Wasn’t any skin off my nose. So we went and got married at the court house and together we filed the paperwork for her to get a Green Card. She was living with her girl friend and I was living by myself. I went over to her apartment to have her sign something from Immigration and we drank some wine and somehow we ended up sleeping together. She was working as an au pair, making good money, enough to more than keep her half of the place up. Next thing I know she moved in with me. We’d already been married almost 18 months. It was funny. When she got the Green card I said,’ well, that’s done, whatcha gonna do?’ She just smiled and said, ” have some children”. Lol! That was 30 years ago. Both kids graduated from college and are working and have left home. But we’re still here, kicking it…….

  • heads up, at 18:49 when the cleaner says you look nice, she is the one you should be looking for, closer to your age, hardworking, friendly. She isnt 26 and a model, take a reality check, get naked and stand in front of a mirror, what would a 26 year old want with you? You would have walked past dozens of possible partners, but because they work in shops/hotels you prob dismissed them.

  • I watched this documentary a long time ago and just stumbled upon it again tonight. I find this so sad. These men seem to have such insane standards for the women they think they want and that’s why they’re single. I don’t know if it’s something to do with wanting to be like other guys and prove their worth or what, but if they’d just be open to dating a normal, average woman, then maybe a lot of them wouldn’t be single.

  • I’m from Ukraine, from one of those cities mentioned in the film, and of course I’m excited to watch it 😂😂😂. This “dating industry” was very common 10-15 years ago. In my city there were many agencies that recruit girls or guys (who pretend to be girls) to work on these dating sites. I want to draw your attention to “work”, not to finding love. Men, let’s face it, if you are not successful in your country, then why will you be successful in Eastern Europe? Do you really think that a 20-30 year old girl will fall in love with a 50-60 year old American man because you are so good, this is funny. And now is no longer the time when brides were ordered by mail and when women were ready to marry their grandfather in order to go to the West. But there are exceptions to all rules, which allows you to always hope that you will be the lucky one.

  • Lisa Ling did a grea Our America episode on these tours but it was focused in Columbia, there was one man named Dave who was actually a wonderful catch for any woman. He was polite, respectful and was there for all the right reasons He met a woman who was age appropriate and they are happily married now over 15 years.

  • I’m from Odessa and I worked for one of such agencies… Remember the guy saying he wrote to 10 girls and they all replied? That’s because it’s a rule, a message from a man cannot be left unresponded. But in most cases it’s not the girl herself replying but someone like me, a “translator” that has several girls to write instead of. The women are mostly there for money because they get paid for messages, chat time, and any presents are converted into money by the agency itself. Even the date, if there is one, is a cash grab and both the girl and the translator get money from like the restaurant that has special menus with higher prices for that. Women will have lied on the website about their age, occupation, family. They’d have children and a husband who knows about this side hustle. I went there trying to do some honest work and there was none… I didn’t last long, it is all such a scam.

  • It’s all fishy… A distant family member did this & what a huge mistake. She was Slavic, what these girls are, he was in the military. He brought her to the U.S. & were married. He went off to war & she went off looking for someone else while he was gone. She did become a citizen then went to school free, to become a nurse. A few years later she broke it to him his child wasn’t his & that it was all just to come over to the U.S. to start a new life. They divorced & she took the 6yr old child he though was his. Trust me when I say- this broke him. These are just scams & many want to become citizens to bring their family to the U.S. A good 70% are buying their time till they get citizenship & can figure a way out, but until then, they will make do. The man will pay for his decision with his wallet & his heart, sad they believe it’s real.

  • I felt so sorry for some of these men, especially the heavy set gentleman who was in “love” with the woman who was Angelina Jolie’s double and the young man from Wisconsin. They should have taken a page from Mel Gibson’s book and his experience with his Ukrainian bride. This was very interesting, and thanks for sharing. 😊😊❤❤👍👍

  • Very obvious this an older article. Eric going on about Uvalde sent chills down my spine at the first mention of the name. Wonder what his wife thinks of the town now, if they’re still together. Poor Travis got caught up in a shake down scheme (happens too often in that region) but was smart enough to get out. I really hope he finds a good, rural girl. Bobby grossly overreaches and, no surprise, fails. Unless he resets his expectations I foresee cats and article games as his life companions. Ron initially came off as a jerk but ended up being the most levelheaded. Having lived overseas myself, he’s right when he says you gain a greater appreciation of what is available at home. Also, having been married for 35+ years, he is also correct when he says after rekindling his former relationship with the US woman that both she and he have areas to give on. I think he has the best chance in the group of a successful marriage.

  • Sad and funny at the same time! That these men think their inability to have a relationship with an American woman is the fault of the woman -blaming someone else, and not just someone else but an entire demographic comprising over 100 million people – should make every American woman breathe a sigh of relief that they’ve gone in search of true love through the mail lol. Best selling point in the docu: “It’s like dating a woman from the 50’s. It’s like dating my mom!”

  • To the sweet large size man… Use some of your money to get the gastric bypass surgery. It will help you lose a lot of weight. When you start losing weight, you will feel better about yourself and you will have more energy. That energy will get you outdoors playing in the park tossing the ball around building a shed… All those activities will build your muscle. Once you start feeling better about yourself, your love will shine through beautifully! Like attracts like. I wish you the best of luck, and I would love to see your before and after and hear about your success, because you are going to be a success in love!💕

  • Don’t blame the girl, don’t blame the company. If you want a 7, you need to raise yourself up as high as you can to get her. Lose weight, work out, work on yourself. Instead of wasting the next $10,000, put it to use on yourself first. You have to keep it real if you want a relationship to become a reality.

  • I’m so glad they decided to put ordinary looking women at the end because even that one guy who kept choosing gorgeous models to e-mail had a woman give him a real compliment in the hotel, but he ignored her because she wasn’t hot in his opinion. If every guy is only attracted to models, and expects to end up with one, then they will stay lonely and so will the women they could have dated.

  • My brother married a girl from the Ukraine and she ended up being so crazy! She found out all Americans aren’t in fact rich. She turned his life upside down. I just don’t understand how someone who came from nothing can be so entitled. We loved her at one point and she has done nothing but cause problems and havoc for 14 years. Even her teen children can’t stand her.

  • The sad thing is, most of these men talk about how they tire of “american women” and want the traditional women that come from these countries… the ones that cook, clean, prioritize family, have children, play a traditional role… they become quite upset when they’re expected to provide for that lifestyle. They want a traditional wife, without being traditional husbands. When that one man said “It’s like getting a woman from the 50’s, a woman just like my mom” that said everything right there… These men want their mothers, they want a woman to take care of them; not to be men taking care of women.

  • I don’t understand this mind blowing deep seated want for another human being to “fill” your emotional voids. People who are putting all of their emotional responsibility and ownership on someone else. Their time & money could have been invested in discovering more about themselves. No one person should ever have to shoulder the responsibility for making and keeping another person happy. Why aren’t they focused on their inability to keep themselves happy? With the language barrier alone how are they even able to effectively communicate their true needs & wants??? “Language is the blood of the soul into which thoughts run and out of which they grow.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes

  • I’m sorry to be so direct and Harsh. I really am but anyway anyway, buddy, I love the shake your hand give you a big hug and actually help you in your quest to find love. I have done many things in my life I have promoted I have managed. I have made many things happen for many people. Anyway, I’m going to stop. I don’t want to sound arrogant. I don’t want to sound pompous even though I realize I already have. All I can say is good luck. I have my fingers crossed and I am praying for you buddy.

  • Inna seems like a great catch, a really genuine, compassionate and easygoing person, the way her new hubby kissed her when they were getting married was nauseating. He also seemed to be performing looking directly at the camera a lot but I can also see that he really wanted to meet someone. I also think she realises her options are limited at home, and wants to go to America for better opportunities. I read she is a nurse now, good for her.

  • While I was in a long line for check ins at my local airport, I met a middle-aged man who told me he was going to Odessa to meet “his love”. He showed me some pictures of a model looking young lady, and I started to feel a little suspicious. I asked for his phone and explained to him that he needed to do at least a reverse image search before committing to travelling like this. And of course, the girl in the image came up on Google’s reverse image search. The guy was so disappointed and so sad, I think I saw him tear up a little. He thanked me and ripped through the line backwards to go back home. I can’t imagine what would have happened to him in Odessa if he didn’t strike up a conversation with me.

  • This reminds me of how I met my wife 43 years ago when I was a young Army officer stationed in Germany. In high school and college, the women I ran across either said they just wanted to be friends or treated me with a cold, cruel contempt. One night I went into a local disco and I looked across the dance floor and locked eyes with Marion, the love of my life. She spoke no English and I spoke almost no German, but I could feel the surge of excitement go through me as we danced for the next four hours. I walked her to her home and kept coming back. Fifteen months later on 28 April 1979, we wed and have been on our way to “Happily Ever After” since then. We have had some hard times and heart breaks over the years, but are still very much in love.

  • I so loved that Texas Mamma in Uvalde. She was smart, yet simple. I loved how she put things into perspective about people are the same pretty much wherever you go. To the one dude with the cat, you are trying to date playboy models that are way out of your league. Try going for the girl next door and be true to yourself.

  • I’m the other side of the story. My dad went to the Philippines and married a woman he only knew a week. She is a year older than me. She got over here and made sure my dad bought house’s in the Philippines which he never had legal rights too. She then started telling him lies about me. I’m an only child. He believed her the last time I talked to him I was 29 or 30. I’m 59. I tried talking to him. She blocked my phone calls and letters. My Aunt his sister told me he had cancer and was dying. That was this year. His wife wouldn’t even let me tell him one last time I loved him. He died in March. I believe she will reap what she sowed.

  • I traveled to Russia because I’m fascinated with Russian history and art. Before I went I got some books and watched some articles and learned about 30 phrases. None of these guys even made the slightest effort in that direction. Unbelievable! BTW, I now speak Russian quite passably and read it quite well.

  • What kind of kiss was that? I found a girl from the Ukraine on a Ukraine sight and had some fun with her. Of course after some time I got lots of messages and only interacted with a few more. 2 of them were different for sure as one asked me to come to the Ukraine and the other ask me to help her get to my country. This all changed as the war in Ukraine started to kick in and then I got flooded with messaged from woman, first with long messages and next asking me if they could come to my country to get away from the war. I didn’t know what to say but since then I have been speaking with the same girl as she tells me what Ukraine has been through but thankfully she is okay and now she really wants to come to my country to be my wife.

  • There is a Turkish comedy movie about a chartered trip to Ukraine from a small town in Turkey. It was based on exactly this scenario made around the same time as this documentary. I’ll link it here if I find it. Of course there is nothing funny about poverty and desperation, so the movie is bittersweet.

  • Im dying 😂 As the gentleman is describing these “210 beautiful women” and how they all believe that “family is first”, and goes on to describe how dating these women, is like “dating a woman from the 60’s” because again, “they all (list ethical values & morals here)….”, they are flashing clips of women and men interacting as if they were in a strip club. If that’s not a contradiction, then I don’t know what is 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

  • Well, I have an american friend who imported an modest girl from Thailand… Everybody’s have your own ideal of “beautifulness”… And I known in any relationship we’re supposed to look more than superficial aspects of our partners… But, a beautiful partner helps a lot in a relationship! American women in general are very beautiful, and I don’t understand why American male have to import a girlfriend?… And we know a lot of cases in what was only a scam to migrate to USA in the easy way!

  • The man who runs Foreign Affair seemed pretty cool about the possible “fraudster” who was taken off including the thousands of dollars the man spent on emails, photos etc. Just goes to show that most purchases are fuelled by emotions and sites like these definitely take advantage of this. Having said all of this, where there is supply, there is always demand too.

  • Great movie. Thank you. I am from Russia and my man is latino from USA. We met when I come to USA for vacation. But before meeting him, I had feeling during many months before coming, that i NEED to go there. Here we are. I don’t need green card I don’t need American citizenship, I am OK with living in Russia, I don’t need his money, I have my own. This is pure love, without any conditions. It happens. Keep looking ♥️

  • I strongly believe we need old fashioned match making services that know people’s families, investigate people, and then have a series of interviews and meetings for family and prospective married people to see if it is a good match. Internet dating is just not working for a lot of people. It’s confusing and being genuine is 100% not rewarded. I do not blame men for doing this at all.

  • Back in the 1990s a good friend of mine lost his wife to cancer. He was about 40 years old. He was an engineer and a couple of years later the company he worked for had him fly to China. While there he met a BEAUTIFUL woman who was about 20 years younger than he. After a year or so they married. The US rules in place at that time said that if they divorced before two years of marriage the bride would be sent back to her original country. Two years and one day after their marriage he came home and found divorce papers. He was absolutely crushed.

  • It keeps telling me to keep my comments friendlier. Whatever I guess I’ve said some bad things. And I apologize about that. I’m just trying to be real. And I want to save this guy. I don’t want his heart to be broken. Meanwhile, as I think about that and say that I realized that he’s never had a relationship from what I remember and that just kills me. It really does I can’t imagine. I just had a friend pass away that I’ve known since I was in grade 5. And he had never had a girlfriend in his entire life. Not one girlfriend and I can’t even begin to think what that would be like.

  • Buddy you just blew it. I just watched everything that you were doing and saying, and the truth is now that I see her she’s not who I thought she was. She’s gonna be trouble for you. I can tell you that right now. Exactly, and that’s exactly what you’re doing is overthinking. It do not overthink you’re just being like a little boy and you have to man up. This woman is not for you. I can tell you that focus somewhere else. I swear to God pow, i, she’s not sincere. She’s not real. Okay, there’s underlying motives. And I don’t know what they are. But I’ve been around the block. I’m 63 years old. I know what I’m talking about..

  • I used to work with a mail order bride. Until then I didn’t think about them getting a job when they get to the states. She told me she send the money she makes to her family in the Philippines. She told me her husband was disgusting and if he goes to sleep before her, she sleeps in the guest room. She told me she can only be here for 8 years then she has to pay for her citizenship. She made me think I wouldn’t want a mail order bride or any bride if they will be repulsed by me

  • These guys who got scammed, they all admitted in the article that “something didn’t seem right” or “something didn’t quite feel right” or “things just felt kind of fishy” or something to that effect. Yet they ignored their better judgement and went and did it anyway. Lesson learned here people! When your sixth sense tells you something isn’t right…LISTEN! There is a reason for that!

  • I have to stop talking because if I keep going. I’m just gonna keep saying things that are going to emasculate. You need every bit of strength that you can muster up to give yourself confidence to do what you need to do I just hope that you make the right choices. Forgive me if I’ve said anything drug ator or wrong that makes you feel uncomfortable. Sometimes my truth to myself is very direct and Harsh. But I try to be real. And as I said we all deserve love.

  • This was interesting to me because I had a friend who was sending money and roses to Russia because he said he was tired of dating American women. He asked my ex and I if she could stay with us for a few days when she got here because he was living at his business (he is a dog trainer). We said we’d get back to him because we had to discuss it first and then said ok. I had the guest room all ready for her but he stopped hearing from her. So I got online and did some searching. Low and behold, there was her picture and she wasn’t real as far as being who he thought. It was really MEN putting pictures of beautiful women from magazines. One of the victims who lost thousands literally went to the address in Russia where he’d been sending roses and it was an office with men on computers and taking the flowers home to their wives. When I told my friend and he literally asked me if I thought she’d still come. SMH

  • This is more of a commercial than a documentary. I tried the whole mail-order bride thing, went to Ukraine by myself, very eye opening. People are people, you can’t expect women to just be ready to pick up and move to the U.S. They have jobs, lives and family there. I went to meet 3 I had been exchanging emails with. Most of them didn’t even write the emails, there were professionals who did that for them…I went for a week and by then I couldn’t wait to get home. I found a nice wife here at work. The only way I could see it working was like the one guy who got married in this article, he spend 7 years and made several trips to get to actually know the woman, most guys don’t have the time, energy or money for that.

  • Sometimes it can happen the other way around, my brother traveled to Czech R. with friends and met his gorgeous wife literally on the streets. After skyping for few months he mover her to Canada, she didn’t like it. We all thought she was probably after the North American life-style. She did not like North America, so she moved back to the Czech Republic but not without my brother, now fast forward 9 years they are still together and have 3 kids.

  • To be an option as a mate you’ve got to at LEAST have 1 of the 3: 1) physical attractiveness 2) wealth/resources 3) personality/character Having 3/3 of these qualities and you’ll have to keep people away with a baseball bat. Have 2/3 and you’ll still be sitting pretty and deemed a catch. Having 1/3 is minimum for someone to want to tolerate you. These guys have 0.5/3 at best and that’s being generous …

  • Just perusal this was painful. It was so blatantly obviously a scam. But men (losers) desperate for love will do just about anything if you convince them to ‘have faith’. The level of extortion is insane. And it’s still going on. $10 a message, and you could see he was straight lieing and knew it was a scam. He’s a terrible lier. Sadest part here is there is men and women on both sides legitimately looking for love.

  • I was wondering what the “kiss” was all about…and upon seeing it, I’m as flabbergasted and grossed out as the rest. I feel sorry for his guy (Eric) and the others. They seem like intelligent men but they are so naive, immature and soo far removed from reality. I’d be Eric (who got really dressed up for his wedding) never kissed a woman (or man) before. So sad. and what’s that one guy doing, grabbing his GF’s crotch in public-with a camera crew following them!!!?

  • 33:00 Got scammed/lost money for sure. Who pocketed that money?? What guarantees does the foreign bride company offer to the customer if it doesn’t work out (marriage/move to the US)? I once heard a story of russian women divorcing, getting the house, and moving their family into the house. I’m 41 and have talked to women in various countries. Never send money. The best piece of advice and common sense is go yourself in person to the city/country you want to find a woman in. Of course if helps if you speak some of their language. A lot of countries speak English, including Asian countries. A lot of countries speak Spanish, thankfully I’m fluent in both. Still, the best thing is to go in person and spend a week or two and mingle with the locals. Doing that will save hundreds & thousands as opposed to paying these foreign bride companies. They’re obviously in it to make a profit!

  • There is a big difference between mail order brides and just going to another country and learning another language. I lived in Taiwan for a few years studying Chinese and I met my Taiwanese fiancee there, but I would never think of doing anything like this. These guys should have at least learned Ukrainian or Russian first.

  • Superficial judgments abound here. Yet, none of them can come even remotely close to the complexity of human relationships. It is hard to share a life, and we are growing into merciless, self-centered narcissists. Men and women from the West are increasingly looking elsewhere for love. An attempt to escape the vacuity of their empty selves. Don’t judge them; you are them.

  • I traveled to the Philippines to check it out as a retirement option. The women there of all ages would like to be with a Western man. I also studied some psychology around dating and have come to this conclusion. Women will marry or be in a relationship with a guy to fulfill her requirements. If she is in poverty AND there are no other resources, meaning a local guy that can provide the same solution then she will pick the best candidate. If she had other and better choices, she would not pick someone 30 years older and 200 lbs heavier. Just like a man that has lets say millions of dollars (this is a recourses) why would he select someone unattractive, ill, needy.. etc. …. because he has options! The person with the most options, female or male gets to choose, the other has to settle. If he brings a beautiful young woman to the US and she determines she has other available resources, she may very well leave him.

  • One thing I think this missed and one reason why so many Eastern European women look for love overseas: spousal abuse is not tolerated in the West like it is in Russia and surrounding Eastern Europe. Many women who meet Western men will say that they never expected to be treated the way they are treated by our men. I find it just tragic that the bar is set so low, i.e. if he doesn’t beat her, she’s happy because she doesn’t expect anything better.

  • This is like a showcase of different types of scams. – One found nothing, so he got off easy by just being out the money for the trip. – One obviously wasn’t talking to the girl he thought he was at all, and just got an awkward date with a stock photo model who knew nothing about him. – Another was actually talking to a real person, but was being shook down for money by her and her associates. – One was actually a real person who was genuinely interested – but they’re divorced now and she has a child that roots her in the United States forever, so perhaps it was just a long con for her.

  • The bigger older guy who said “she wouldnt answer personal questions” is not someone who should be married to ANYONE. The way he would respond whenever something didnt go his way was so cringe. I jave a feeling of a women ever said no to him he would just throw a temper tantrum. He needs to mature more before he starts talking about marrying anyone.

  • What these guys need to come to terms with is that when you “go overseas to find a bride” you are by definition, getting married for the legal contract. It’s not a 21st century love story. It’s a man in need of a wife, a woman in need of a husband. The man is hoping for an attractive woman and the woman is hoping for a man with enough money to take care of her. If you are poor/low income, you don’t get the most attractive female! If you say “I may not be Brad Pitt, or have a ton of money, but I’m a nice guy!” You gotta be fair and say “she may not be Angelina Jolie but she’s a nice girl!” In return! 😂

  • I feel for these men that have such a genuine need for companionship. Not everyone in this documentary were seeking an equal, as far as companionship and mutual respect. My heart goes out to the actual truly just introverted and socially awkward men that don’t see a future with a lifelong partner as being possible.

  • @46:16 is the most pathetic thing i’ve ever seen. She’s in her stripper heels and a tight dress walking through the HEB picking up BudLight. AND THEN…she’s pregnant with a child to anchor her to his wallet. This is far too desperate and predatory. It sucks to be older and single, but you can meet women in your own country, in your own community without this kind of personal risk
