  • I totally agree with you about being friends with the photographer. My first wedding shoot was done with a gentleman I went to high school with and is friends with my cousin. We were in tune with each other, and barely had to speak, and just knew what we needed to get and stay out of each others way. My question is how willing are couples to “redo” things? I know the day is often hectic and there is a time crunch. When you ask them to read the note again (if they have one of course) or anything along those lines, have you ever had any push back? Or are they so excited, in your experience, that they don’t mind contributing to a great wedding article. Keep up the great stuff Kraig!

  • Hey man, love your work. Been following for about a month now and you have inspired me to shoot a wedding. I usually shoot docos for work or sketches for fun, but seeing how well and elegant you tell the story of a wedding made me want to try one. On that note, I was wondering if you have a template you use or a generic shot list that guides your shoots? Keep it up man!

  • Hi Kraig, First of all, i love your work. You are an inspiration to me and i am trying to get my footage to look closer to yours. Its the image that i am looking for but i cant seem to get it right now. One question, beside the highlight article, what else do you offer to your clients ? Short film edited ( like half an hour ? ) or like 2-3 hours of article from the wedding ? I am really curious. Best regards and keep up the good work.

  • What is the import process for the A7s II? I just pop the card in, open fcpx and import it in there. I want to make a cleaner backup process of my wedding article files and feels like I’m doing it wrong. I pretty much import the footage in fcpx then to back it up I navigate to my fcpx library.. And find that wedding and copy the “original” file with the clips inside it. Yes…no?

  • Hi Kraig, I like what you said about saying no to gigs. This is my first year as a professional wedding articlegrapher, and it is going great. I turned down my first client, she just didn’t trust me, and I had this bad gut feeling. So I politely walked without any unnecessary explanation, before contracts or deposits ever got involved. Felt good, it was the right call. So my question is, what red-flags do you look for to tell you a client is not a good fit for your services? Cause I want to be able to work with difficult clients, I think that is a skill I should develop, but I would love to hear some stories or examples of telling the difference between a difficult but worthwhile client, and a dead-end cut and run client.

  • Hi Kraig! Have you ever made SDE for birthdays or other event? how would you shoot SDE if you will make a long version (full edit) after for this kind of event? I am working with 2 shooters plus myself as shooter & editor. I find it difficult to make long edit after as our footages are 10sec or shorter only. shall I tell one of my shooter to record longer? thanks in advance! 😊

  • How would i go about learning filmmaking in my high school years (currently in last marking period of 8th grade) and then applying the filmmaking skills to weddings. I want to get a feel around the industry so I will do short films along with weddings and promotional articles for money and experience. And do you think making a joint YouTube website for the whole film club to post our work and make a website would be a good idea? Love the content, hope to see this answered, or at least one of these questions.

  • Question I left on another one of your articles I’d like addressed… When shooting solo, for the ceremony, and say you have 3 cameras, 2 on tripods, 1 on monopod. You mentioned you just keep footage rolling. However, most cameras have a 20 or 30 minute limit. Besides hacking it with magic latern, how do you go about that? Since most cameras, at least mine, will stop and won’t start a new clip.

  • What is included in your wedding packages? I see you produce cinematic 5 minute articles but what about the speeches and the ceremony? Do you have a separate price for both? Do people always want a full length article with all speeches or could you just sell separate packages? Thanks for yet another insightful vlog.

  • How not to be awkward and just get into the shots in the wedding? I want to be able to just go for the shots but I’m afraid to intervene with other people, stick out, or ask the couple to do certain shots? I’m filming my first wedding on Saturday and I’m more used to filming things that can be reshot.

  • I have had 6 wedding since I started in the last few months. The last was for £600 pound for a full day and I’ve got great reviews and recommendations with one referral. I was advised to just accept any priced weddings until I started getting more weddings and higher the price. However yesterday I had a client who wanted two days, full 6 hour party with highlights reel and 1 hour article. Then the second day 12 hour with highlights reel and 1 hour article. And they wanted it for £500 which I didn’t accept and offered £750 instead for the two days. I was advised to take weddings for £350 but I can’t accept constant offers of that low as it tags you as that person is cheap

  • Hey I was wondering if I could have some advice, I’ve recently filmed a wedding and the edit was a total of 8 mins. I was really impressed with the outcome as I thought it was shot really well. When I handed it to the client she was really angry because she wanted the article to last an hour. Now I showed her examples of wedding articles that were between 5-10 mins and she said she liked the style. So that’s what I did. I don’t really know what to do now as she’s refusing to pay. I’m only charging £100

  • New York City! That’s how you can claim the high price! I realize the cost of living there is high. I’m in South Florida and am lucky to get $500 out of clients–it sucks. The common saying is “We’ve already spent all our money on flowers and decorations–we can’t afford you”, to which I’m thinking “Then why are you contacting me?”.

  • This is just about pricing…? What about tips for booking these clients? How to advertise, where to advertise, etc… I want more articles for the business side of wedding filmmaking! Form Facebook ads (how much do you need to invest, promo article or just advertising one wedding film) to using Instagram to reach potential clients!
