Hey guys! we are in aruba! we were there for 8 days, this is day 1-3. I took a lot of random footage, with some talking in between …
I really appreciate that you chose to stay in accommodations that were locally owned. I’ve been to Aruba five times and I’ve always stayed in local b&b’s/guesthouses/hostels. Taking the bus is not so bad, but it is much easier if you do rent a car. Your article shots were amazing! It makes me miss the island so much! My favorite beaches are Baby, Rodgers, and Arashi. One place to visit if you’re on the island is the Museum of Industry in San Nicolas. It takes you through the industries that helped shape Aruba and provides a lot of history.
You can stay for free at the donkey sanctuary in exchange for 20 hours of work per week. Super nice apartments and a nice way to get in touch with other tourists and locals, you also get to borrow a car from the sanctuary to use whenever you like! Most importantly, you get to spend time and cuddle with the donkeys:)
Love this informative article. I’ll be going with my friends in June 2024. She has a timeshare we’ll be staying with for the first week. The next 3 days we’ll be staying in the E Solo apts. We’ll rent a car which is nice as this is my 1st time there! Very expensive so that’s why we’ll be taking some food with us to cook. And save eating out on occasions or when we’re snorkeling.
Heading to Aruba on 12 Feb 2022 with my wife, son, and his girlfriend. Been there 9 times previous. Love Baby Beach, downtown, and the California lighthouse. Also, Boca Catalina and Antilla wreck for snorkeling. We will be staying at LaCabana Beach and Racquet Club. Love, love, love Aruba. People are super nice!
It must be ten years ago now but we stayed at Divi Beach and had a wonderful time there. Like you our fave place was also Baby beach as it wasn’t so busy being a little out of the way, but perfect for just chillin and playing with the kids. Nice to hear that Big Mamas is still going strong, though I must admit, the prices were a tad on the high side which I guess is only to be expected when most produce is imported. Thanks for the lovely trip down memory lane.
I’ve been to Aruba twice and going back again this year, we stay at bucuti and Tara it’s our favorite place in the world honestly. We tell ourselves we are going there to relax and eat good. So I wouldn’t say it’s not expensive but it truly is one happy island . Also fine dining is obviously gonna be expensive but you can find meals from 10-20$ all around the island.
I’ll be back in April!!! 🇦🇼 Renting a car definitely is the way to go on the Island. My favorite beaches are Rodgers, Eagle and Arashi. Sites to see: Hooiberg, Sereo Colorado Natural Bridge, Casbari Rock Formation, Tanki de Alto Vista and exploring the north coast with a 4×4 vehicle. Also, effective February 3rd, 2022 visitors to the island no longer need to test if they are fully vaccinated (Initial shot or shots along with a booster is considered fully vaccinated). Of course that could change depending on future developments and you still need to test on your return home depending what destination it is.
Our favorite place, we have been there about 10 times. Very low crime rate, you are not getting hounded by vendors on the beach and the people are very friendly. Groceries are a little expensive but as you said, dinners are comparable to other places. Make sure to wear plenty of sunscreen as the breeze makes it seem cooler.
We really enjoyed Aruba in the weeks just before COVID hit in early 2020. During that trip we went over the neighboring Bonaire. There we found even better beaches and it was twice as clean. The downtown area much more interesting if you are interested in meeting the residents. The only real issues with the ABC islands is cost. Expensive to get there and affordable accommodations really tough to find. An adventure all the same.
Hi, Jumping Places. Interesting information about Aruba. I like Aruba for one go away of eight days. I have a special interest in the Flamingos place is like more relaxed. Even though The Eagle beach is also very good. The simple and comfortable hotel is not expensive. Thanks and happy days and rejoice Aruba.
This article was posted 4 hours ago so either the article was shot pre-haircut or Chris’ hair grows incredibly fast…I also found the price of the fish dishes surprisingly higher than the others. It seems there would be an abundance of fish available at a cheaper price. I always enjoy what you produce. Thank you for sharing.
These are not dutch all dutch buildings. The earliest settlers to Aruba built their houses with ‘caliche’, a substance found on the island, or with interlocking coral rocks, found on its shores. The shape was a simple room with small windows and a roof that rose to a peak in the center to allow heat to rise and help keep the space cool. Additions were often built side by side with similar shapes.
😘↗ I’ve been to Aruba a few times; between fifteen and twenty years ago.↗The beach waters in Aruba’s sooo beautiful.👌↗Between thirty and forty dollars a night for decent clean room in Aruba is good.↗ So right 👉 if person’s not a good swimmer or not a confident swimmer they can stay close along the wet and dry sands to not go in waters above their waist or shoulders; plus, they had floats with ankers attached to place in beach waters to assist the float to stay in place to lay on close to dry and wet sand.↗Also in the main attraction areas were a lot of 🚌buses and 🚕 Taxi transportation.
Aruba does have good beaches, but when the cruise ships come it’s a bit chaotic. It’s a windy desert island, so if you prefer tropical foliage this isn’t the place. I much prefer you narrating on camera, if felt a bit wooden this way, almost like you were making a travel guide for someone, but still it’s nice to see. Hope ur on your way to Argentina 🙂
Aruba is one big tourist trap. Albeit an amazing beautiful and fun island, still a tourist trap. We rented a car, UTV and went to some popular places to eat. Also did a snorkelling tour and some other tours. Everything was even more expensive than anywhere we’ve ever been. Definitely budget for expensive food in “inexpensive” places.
This place had the worst customer service everywhere we went! You will pay the same price for everything equal to the US and more. You do not get complimentary anything or free refills of coffee anywhere you go. Long wait for your food when you order it, bartenders ignored you when waiting to buy drinks.
