This is the norm in countries like Pakistan; I even read that in the United Kingdom the norm among those of Pakistani-origin background is still cousin marriage. Marriage between first cousins is not the same as brother and sister, or parent and child. In fact, not all states consider it incest for that reason. However, with that being said, yes it’s odd. It’s not generally something most people would entertain or pursue. It’s certainly not something I would ever want to do, and wouldn’t want my son doing it either. My great-grandparents…first cousins. Had 8 surviving children. 6 with varying degrees of mental illness. Mental illness does not show up in any fancy test. There was a family up the road from where I grew up that has a situation like this. Twin brothers married Twin sisters and bought a plot of land to put IDENTICAL houses on (they were mirror images of each other) the women became pregnant at the same time and each gave birth to twin boys, so 4 kids in total. I came from a small town so it was the talk of the town.
Makes you wonder how they decided who to date/marry. Did one girl twin and one boy twin like each other so the other two dated because they then “had to?” Did both girls twins like the same boy twin and one ended up with the other boy twin as a consolation prize or vice versa? So many questions. All so odd.
This story went weird quick. I have twins marrying twins within my extended family but they aren’t like them plus Vietnamese. Also, don’t live together and just close by. They do a lot of stuff together but have private time too. My dad has a set of twins as his cousins. His moms had 8 siblings so he has many cousins.
I’ve heard that the bond between twins is a very special thing impossible for everyone else who don’t have them to comprehend. It makes sense that a pair of twins will be completely okay with the thought of sharing their life like that. Plus, it does make economic sense. In asian cultures, it’s pretty normal for siblings to continue living together with their own families as long as there’s room for them to use. The idea of sharing their life together with their twin might actually be a comfort for all parties involved.
I’m all for siblings and family being close, its nothing wrong with that, but with everyone living under the same roof and planning on having babies at the same time it’s a little weird. It may seem cute but there’s something unhealthy about this whole situation! I hope this is just a phase they’re going through and each family realized they need to be in their own individual homes!!

I know of identical twin sisters that married brothers, but the brothers weren’t twins. They were a year apart in age. No double wedding, they married 2 years apart with the couple that married first match making the other couple. The first couple had a child with Downs about 6 months after the second couple married. They never had any more and the other couple decided not to have kids since the parents were told they were both carriers of DS and a 25 % chance with each pregnancy of it happening again. The second couple tested the brother, and he was a carrier too. anyway, you would see both couples with the child at different times, and if you did not know them you would have no idea whom her parents were. The aunt and uncle loved her like she was theirs too.
I’m usually all about “do whatever you want inside your own house” but that doesn’t doesn’t stop me from thinking it is freaking weird!!!
