The perfect engagement ring can be described as a recipe, with different ingredients making different rings. The center stone refers to the diamond or gemstone that sits at the center of the ring. Different diamond shapes are often referred to interchangeably with their cut, but they are actually two different things.
An ancient method of setting gems, flush setting or hammer setting, provides great protection for the gemstone. Thin bands have drawbacks such as overall security and lifetime wear, as well as comfort. A symmetrical emerald shape is crucial for cut quality and will greatly impact the appearance of the ring once completed.
Vintage jewelry boxes can be made of various materials, including porcelain, ivory, wood, and paper mache. Traditional engagement rings often feature open galleries, allowing the bottom part of the center stone to be visible. A solitaire setting is simple and timeless, while a basket setting is a type of prong setting that features a center stone held by many prongs that come down under the diamond to form a basket of prongs.
The common definition of an engagement ring is a ring with a center gemstone, usually somewhat taller and often with a very narrow shank or band. Some people choose to wear both rings on their left hand from the start, while others transfer the engagement ring over from their right hand to their left one.
In summary, understanding the different ingredients and styles of engagement rings can help you make important style decisions and make your shopping experience more enjoyable.

What are the 5 C’s of engagement rings?
Each diamond is different. These qualities are the 5 Cs: carat, cut, color, clarity, and confidence. Knowing the 5 Cs helps you choose a diamond that’s beautiful and fits you or your loved one.
Carat: The weight of the diamond. A carat is 200 milligrams or 0.2 grams. Diamonds under 1 carat are expressed as points. A half-carat is 50 points, or 0.50ct. A diamond doesn’t have to be twice as heavy to look twice as large. A half-carat diamond is about 5 mm in diameter, while a one-carat diamond is about 6.5 mm.

Side and accent gemstones can also affect how big a diamond looks. They make a smaller diamond look bigger, make colors more intense, and make rings more personal. Accent gemstones are like makeup because they make the main features stand out and look elegant.
Deep cuts make diamonds shine and reflect light. The pavilion makes the diamond look smaller. Shallow cuts make diamonds look bigger. They don’t reflect light well and look dull.

A feeling of passion and commitment towards work. We give our all to our work. You know when you see engagement. But it’s hard to explain. When Douglas Conant became CEO of Campbell’s Soup in 2001, he called it a “bad” company. The company’s products were losing market share, and 62% of managers didn’t feel engaged at work. By 2009, 68% of employees were engaged, while only 3% were disengaged. How did Conant do it? He made employees feel valued in return. He removed the barbed wire fence around the offices and focused on improving manager communication. Conant also celebrated individual success. He sent thank-you notes and had lunch with employees. Conant’s success at Campbell’s Soup shows that creating an engaged workforce is more than just offering perks like air hockey tables or on-site clinics. It’s about creating an environment where employees feel valued. When employees are empowered, they become passionate, energetic, and committed to their jobs.

📹 Ring Styles for engagement rings and other casual ring: Pros, Cons, names. What is a good ring? 2022
When you think of ring styles for engagement rings or other rings styles there are many to choose from. You may have one ring …
I love your articles but would love a article about how mass produced rings are actually made. When advertising the companies stress that all stones like in a cubic zirconia ring are made exactly the same way a bespoke jeweler would make. They cut the stones and individually set each and every stone. This is so deceptive. If it was done that way, you could not sell a ring for $69.99. Thank you ☺️
Great explanation of the possibilities of longevity & style verses risk & repair or replacement of each of the design aspects. I occasionally design mens rings because…… well, almost no-one does. I designed my self a 2.6ct Asscher cut Santa Maria de Itabira Aquamarine ring in .950 Platinum. Because I dislike big, chunky rings, I had 6 VS1 E 2mm diamonds (representing my 6 Grandkids ) offset to one side @ about 35* into 2 rows of 3 from the table of the feature stone to reduce surface area. The Aqua was “End-set” in the mentioned tension setting to afford maximum light play but was also secured at each corner of the stone by a minute drop of crystal UV activated glue to stop the risk of ANY loosening or movement. It has worked beautifully & everyone remarks on the design & of course, the colour of the Aquamarine itself. Wish I could show it off here… very proud of the finished product.

Your Average Jeweler, I have a question. Can a jeweler tell a real stone from a fake by looking at it in the shop? I’m not interested in how much, how clear.. only in things like: “Yes, it’s a real stone/gem” maybe even being able to say it’s a garnet, amethyst, aquamarine,… . I’m not really that interested in a full analysis and only a rough idea as to value.
