How To Engage Students On Social Media?

Student engagement strategies for social media include creating hashtags to collect user-generated content, segmenting your audience with groups, selecting students to become brand ambassadors, sharing ephemeral content through stories, and always including a call to action. Higher education professionals can use social media to enhance student engagement in the classroom by incorporating AI and the LinkedIn community.

Social media provides opportunities for young people to discover new information, learn about current events, engage with issues, and have their voices heard. However, it is not an effective platform for productive discussions. Instead, it is recommended to engage in face-to-face conversations for more meaningful dialogue. Foster open and curious conversations with the person who posted or shared offensive content.

U.S. teens spend an average of 87% of their social media time using popular platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Social media can build communities and movements that can affect change, and schools can engage with their community via social media.

Students are the key players in social media campaigns due to their boundless energy and digital intuitiveness. High engagement rates are achieved when young users dominate platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat Storytelling. Virtual field trips can be organized through social media platforms like Facebook Live or Instagram Stories, allowing students to explore new places without physically leaving the classroom.

Creating opportunities for students to ask questions and provide feedback via social media helps build relationships and boosts content in social algorithms. Collaborating with students on social media in higher education and monitoring accounts for comments can help engage students in meaningful and authentic learning activities.

  • My mum promotes what I am doing on her Facebook etc and she has several producers/directors from large organisations who follow her. This only happened recently after I auditioned for a lead in a film and was shortlisted. I am a student and not ready to leave my studies and they don’t contact my mum but they do always view anything posted about me. Is this good?

  • Actors need all the help they can get. Asking for casting agents & directors to take notice is your right since this industry is so closed minded & exclusionary. I disagree with this message. Put yourself out there & believe in yourself! You are not asking for “a favor” you are asking for a chance to be seen – a tryout. We all deserve that!
