  • I think couples therapy can work. I think one of the built in flaws is that one person has already checked out of the relationship and the other is only finally agreeing to go to therapy out of desperation. I also believe the person who already checked out will use couples therapy as a means to signal to everyone that they did everything they could to save the relationship. There will be a lot of fall out after the breakup / divorce and everyone wants to make themselves look good after the dust has settled.
