How To Register Your Marriage In Philippines?

The process of getting married in the Philippines involves several steps. First, a marriage certificate is issued by the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) of the city or municipality where the wedding was celebrated, which is then endorsed by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). If parents are married, a Certificate of Marriage (if married in the Philippines) or Report of Marriage (issued by PSA or Foreign Service Post) or Marriage License (long) is required.

The bride and groom must then apply for a Marriage License Application Form, pay the marriage license fee, and obtain a Certificate of No Impediment from the Births, Deaths and Marriages office. In the United States, there is no National Registry or formal process for registering foreign marriages, but the U.S. government recognizes legally binding marriages in the country or state where they took place.

For online marriages between Filipinos or between a Filipino and a foreign national, it is essential to report and register the marriage with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) through the Philippine Embassy/Consulate General. If the marriage took place in an EU country, Turkey, USA, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, the documents listed above are sufficient for registration in the Civil Registration System (CPR).

Finally, Filipino citizens married outside the Philippines must register the marriage with the Philippine Foreign Service Post (Embassy or Consulate) of the country. Marriages occurring to Muslims are registered in place where there is a Muslim presence.
