It’s absolutely amazing how YoutTube suggestions work. I’m an IT professional in India, and I got a chance to grow my hair during the lockdown, working from home. And the stereotypes are pretty strong here as well. So I was a little worried about it when the office reopens because I’m not too keen on cutting my hair short. Then I came across this article, and it’s really helpful.
My work normal work environment would not be considered business casual as dress code is either company provided tshirts or polos with blue jeans and steel toes. However since growing my hair out, I find that I often will put my hair up to keep it out of my face while working. My go toes tend to be either a simply ponytail or loose bun if I want to get it off my neck or a half up ponytail if I want to wear my hair down but keep it out of my face as I work. Just want to say I’m glad I found this website as it has provided a lot of inspiration and a boost to my selfconfidance. Keep up all the good work.
Low-ball bun style works with the Triangle shaped face. Another is a partial ponytail, for an extra bit of style is to pull through the ponytail either under or overhand. Make three partial ponytails and do a underhand pull through for a polished professional look. One thing I’ll add is use a small three strand braid or rope braid to cover the lowest elastic tie to cover it.
Here where I live Monterrey Mexico it is super strange that a man bring long hair I bring long long hair I am lucky to work in an American company and my boss also has long hair. Formal meetings with clients a man bum style is the advantage Thanks Trav for sharing your ideas and style very good article Regards
I’ve been growing my hair for the past 8 years. I have worked mostly in manufacturing but just got a desk job at a High School and trying to figure out the best way to keep my long curly hair presentable. I was interviewed and had my hiring process through zoom and over the phone, so they don’t know that I have super long hair. I do remember having a long hair male teacher in college.
Great article new sub! Because I was in the military for so long I refuse to cut my hair or beard. Thanks COVID 😂 currently in the ugly stage now. My only issue now is because I can’t really pull it back like fore because of my hairline that ran away 😂. Most people I’m seeing current don’t have this issue with long hair. Any recommendations? I mean my hairline is there just not all the way and I have pulled it back and I’m not feeling it. FML 🤦♂️ what to do what to do?
New buddy here! I love your website, not to mention your hair! It’s great! I was wondering something. Have you got any tips on eliminating these like “beans” or loops of hair that form on your head when you tie your hair? They’re especially visible on the first hairstyle. I’m 15 months into growing mine and it’s almost down to my shoulders so I rock a man bun 90% of the time.
I’m going for a friend’s wedding and my hair is not as long as yours, It’s 9month growth from a fade haircut, most of the hair do fit in a bun but the bun itself is really small so it doesn’t look as good as yours. And my hair is wavy so I’m not sure if I should consider straightening it or not. honestly want to cut it cause of all this worry but i really don’t want to. I also have a beard a bit similar to yours it’s not shaped, I’m not sure if I should get it trimmed or shaped it might look too clean cut with the hair. any suggestions? ( i would be wearing a suit)
I had hair down to my waist. I was looking upgrade my career as it got to point I realized there was no growth where I was working. A head hunter contacted me and we met for an interview. He told me it’s a Japanese company and they are very strict. I had to cut my hair…just to get interviewed!!! Anyways, next day at work I got the scissors, grabbed my hair at the top like if I was going to put in ponytail and snipped it off. Thankfully, after 3 interviews I was offered the job. 💪🏻🤓😎🤓😎🤓😎🤓😎🤓😎🤓👍🏻
I’m totally agree I really don’t understand why having long hair for some people isn’t. Masculine or that having hair make you gay I really don’t understand that people . And you now the truth is that many years ago (I mean to many ) the long hair in man was considered a sign of power in some cultures And If someone say that is a new trend to have long hair … I mean the reality is that having short hair is a new trend compared with the long hair (This are just history facts,I’m not inventing nothing hahaha 😂)
3 years growing and about to go buzzcut. 🤦🏼♂️😱Honestly as much as i love my long hair it’s a social and professional handicap regardless of how you view it or wear it. The average dating game, work situation and basic interactions are all governed by the hardwired views on long haired men. The pro and con is that we are viewed as a wild lawless bunch. Short hair frames a mans face better and gives an immediate clean manicured look. It pains to cut, but i’ve done it twice before and it feels completely liberating and transformative. I might add that i’d also add a drop of gel and splash of water to to your finished 5 looks to stick all the rebellious hairs in place. Peace brother, you look like a pro in all 5. 😉
Before this article i had no idea how to put my hair in a bun! (i know basic lol, but first time with long hair). I think the high bun or low bun looks the most professional. Its ironic, like someone said in another comment, that it looks most professional when it imitates short hair. Before this i was just wearing my hair in a ponytail! thanks so much!
I notice that your hair, pulled back, isn’t perfectly neat as a woman’s long hair would be at the part/top/sides. Is this standard for men, or for a particular type of look? If a man is styling his long hair in a professional environment, should he have it perfectly pulled back and gelled with not one flyaway, or is it acceptable for there to be a few bumps and wisps?
“Long” hair. That’s cute. XD But seriously, where was this four years ago?! My hair’s a lot longer now though, so I’m either rocking a massive hairclip in the summer, or braiding straight down the back in the winter. Highballs are just impossible with the weight, and even lowballs are painful after a couple of hours. These look great though if your hair’s shorter and thinner than mine!
Thanks for sharing this. I’ve been growing my hair out since the pandemic began and it’s very long…though I don’t have the heart to cut it just yet. I like the messy buns, but sometimes I need a more cleaner hairstyle and I don’t always want to keep it in a ponytail. The problem with me is that I HATE putting hair products in my hair. But I discovered that using natural unscented aloe vera gel is just as useful, if not better, as hair gel/spray for anchoring down all my baby and rogue hairs.
Manoj bhaiya mere hairs bhi aapke hairs jitne hi lambe h lekin thin h, Mujhe thick and bouncy hairs chahiye. Please tips btaiye. Kaunsa product use Karu aur hair care kaise karu !
