Wearing glasses or contact lenses can be a great way to enhance and define your eyes, especially when you wear makeup. To create a unique look, follow these tips:
1. Prep your face by preparing your face and avoiding the bridge of the nose.
2. Keep the lenses clean by wiping them with a microfiber cloth and using water to remove stains.
3. Adjust your eyeliner based on the style of your glasses, as thicker frames can carry more makeup.
4. Keep dark makeup on top and use a nude or white color.
5. Apply concealer to help your eyes shine, and if you don’t wear much makeup, a simple swipe of lipstick or lip gloss might be enough.
6. Finish off your makeup routine with powder and a setting spray.
7. Use makeup readers that allow you to apply eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadow while still being able to wear your makeup.
8. Add color to your eyes and cheeks by keeping the eyeshadow subtle and focusing on the eyeliner instead.
In summary, makeup is a great way to enhance and define your eyes, especially when you wear glasses or contact lenses.

Think about your eyeshadow. Wearing glasses makes your eyes a focal point. “When your eyes are magnified, your makeup skills are on show,” says celebrity makeup artist Lisa Eldridge. “Make sure everything is applied well and looks good.” You also need to think about how your eyes will look through your lenses. “If you’re far-sighted, your glasses will make your eyes look bigger,” says Eldridge. And if you’re nearsighted? The opposite is true. Your glasses will make your eyes look smaller. Use makeup to make your eyes look bigger. If you’re near-sighted, use a light, flesh-toned or white pencil along the waterline to make your eyes look bigger. Avoid black lines along the waterline or anything that closes the eye, especially with the shadow that the lenses cast. Less is more for lashes. Long lashes that hit your lenses can be annoying. Avoid super-lengthening formulas and use a brush for fanning out lashes. Curling your lashes before you apply mascara will help them look better. The type of mascara you use is also important. “When your eyes are magnified, you’ll want a mascara that separates your lashes,” adds Eldridge. If you don’t want mascara on your top lashes, use it on your lower lashes instead. It’ll make your eyes look wide and pretty. With black liner on the upper lash line, it’ll look like you have layered lashes. Choose powdered foundation. If you wear glasses all day, you know the patches under your frames where your foundation has worn thin. “People complain that their foundation makes ridges on their nose and dents in the foundation where it comes off,” says Eldridge. Don’t put too much foundation on your nose. If you wear thick foundation and glasses, it will make marks. If you need more coverage, follow her lead and use concealer to cover the area where your glasses rest. Then, use your brush to apply the concealer to your glasses.

What moisturizer can I wear under eye then use a concealer that will not look bad. I get a bit dry under my eyes and concealer or makeup show the dry flakes. I have started to exfoliate gently to remove dry skin but I really need something to use under the eyes to give moisture. I see you use gels but I cannot find what brands you use.
Thanks for this! I’m a 34-year-old Millennial and although everyone says I look better with contact lenses because they can see my blue eyes, I prefer glasses because they’re easy to throw on on a busy day and I can wear long nails with them. But this gives me ideas for how to highlight my face with glasses.
Thanks for the tips, I do wear glasses. I would LOVE IT if you would do a article on brushes. Which brush you use for which product (show the brushes please) and the method in which you use them. I can’t help but think there are more women out there that could benefit from that article. There are articles out there but I feel you do the best and accurate articles. Please help this 71 year old woman.
Thank you so much for making this article. I have been hoping you would update that one from a few years ago. That’s actually the first article of yours I ever watched. I was starting my own YouTube website and needed makeup advice. I’m a (now) 52 year old woman who wears glasses, so that article was perfect. The only thing I have to disagree with on this article, though, is for me personally, when I watch my articles, I think my eyes looked washed out if I don’t put some darker shade in the crease (like how you normally do your crease). But I definitely agree that the eye liner needs to be definitive, and I have to try that white eye liner on the lower water line. I’m always afraid to line the water line—worried that it will irritate my eye—but when you demonstrate it in this article, I can see a big difference.
I really enjoyed perusal this tutorial. I wasn’t sure about the white waterline eyeliner, because I use a taupe color everyday, but I see how it really did make your eyes pop. Your eyelashes are long naturally, and adding the eyelash primer and mascara makes them look even longer. I love this look. I use lipstick as my blush sometimes too, and this color looks great both as a blush, and as your lipstick. All in all, GREAT LOOK!
Wow, what an eye opener for me! I let my hair go gray, which I love but stopped with the makeup. My husband has been so ill for 3 years, caretaking just didn’t motivate me to look good, we go nowhere except to doctors and hospitals. This motivates me to look good behind my glasses, for me! Thank you!!
Thank you for the tips and inspiration ((as always💖)! I’m going to get glasses (ugh) since my eyes seem to be getting irritated after wearing my contacts for a few hours. I still can’t figure out my face shape though even after measuring …😄 I love your larger and bolder frames! You always look so chic and gorgeous!
Thxs so much! I’ve been stuck wearing glasses for a long time, in spite of my pic. The shadowing makes me crazy. (not helped by the natural darkness) If I don’t use concealer, I can count on my boss asking me if I’m okay😂Nice that he cares though. I’m looking forward to giving the techniques a try. ❤
I have to wear self-darkening glasses because I spend so much time outdoors. And basic neutrals in eye makeup just can’t be seen on my deep-set eyes. Also, I need a sturdy frame on my glasses. So my approach to eye makeup is quite different than what you’re showing here. But I thank you for at least bringing attention to the different circumstances we nearly blind girls have to deal with! And thanks for your energy and focus!
Gorgeous, your eyes look so pretty . have to wear glasses full tiime now until I can get a decent eye check, contacts etc ( not where I live, so ‘behind the rest if the world . No actual lens tests as I had in UK along with eye health care checks .Was recommended a precription of 4.5, the 4 yr old ones I have are 4.85 !When the optitian asks if you feel dizzy in the glasses recommended & if you don’t: ‘they’ll do ‘ at 10x the price I used to pay ) Will give this a try as I’ve noticed my eyes are disappearing .
Here is a something to try! My glasses always wants to travel a little on the nose how ever I fit them. Then I got a little “wow” moment today when i was using my 👍🏼eyeshadow primer and put some in my problem area with the glasse and they have not moved a bit in 3 hours after that. Will see how long they will stay in place
Oh dear! I had frames like that, but I’m 70 now and so I switched to gold wire frames thinking it would help me look younger, what do I know? But my white hair I blended with light brown. So that’s kind of dishwater blonde/ gold, with gold wire frames. Now I’m really puzzled. What frames help with older women who don’t want to look old? I love your website, by the way😊❤️
I NEED YOUR HELP! Mother of the bride here, next October. Was a medium auburn most of my life. Have now gone grey (half white/silver in front) with medium brown hair the rest. Not sure which way to go? Full coloring? What color? Would like to keep my grey. Was thinking navy dress; but am open to suggestions. Wedding colors are maroon, turquoise, and cream. HELP!!!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone address this issue. I can’t wear contacts (long story short; my eyes are fucked😂). My glasses can get pretty gross if I wear makeup, along with messing up the foundation. Thank you for this tip!!! Love you, girl🤓💛 PS: WHAT IS ON HER LIDS??? DOES ANYONE KNOW BECAUSE OMG😍🔥🔥
I have a problem. I live in Florida and its hot and humid. I did my makeup and put on false lashes; which I’m new at, and they melted off and one was stuck to my sunglasses by the time I headed out on a girls weekend getaway. So, is there anything I can do to keep that from happening and how can I keep my eyes from sweating and pooling up where my sunglasses rest on my cheeks? Any good opinions would be greatly appreciated.
