I do apologise for asking a question from a negative angle, but in your example you make reference to the fact that you approached a venue where you actually got married some weeks earlier. So I’m guessing you knew them, they knew you, and probably already had a mutual liking. I got married 20 years ago. And the last two weddings I shot were friend and family gigs abroad (destination weddings) in 2016 and 2018. So in my case, literally, it would be a case of finding local venues near me that shoot weddings and cold calling them (or e-mailing, or visiting) them saying “Hi, how can I help your business….etc” and as you allude, they’re going to see right through it and ignore me. So I need to think of a way of doing as you suggest, making it seem authentic, but from the angle of a total stranger.
