How To Write The Time On Wedding Invitation?

Wedding invitations should include the date, time, and location of the event. The traditional way to write the date is to spell it out completely, rather than using numerals. For example, if your wedding will take place on Saturday, October 26th, 2024, you would write: Saturday, the twenty-sixth of October two thousand twenty-four.

The time on your wedding invitation should be written out in words rather than numbers, with the hour followed by “o’clock.” If your wedding is taking place on the half hour, you can use the phrase “half after” followed by the hour. Some informal invitation designs allow the date to be written out completely numerically, but only if your invitation design permits.

In terms of stating the time of your event, you have a lot of options in terms of wedding invitation wording. If you prefer to go by a nickname, use it on the save date or other, less formal pieces of the invitation suite. Drop the bride’s and/or groom’s middle names if they become too long to fit on one line.

For evening invitations, you will need to slightly amend the wording to reflect that by changing the start time, venue (if necessary), and making sure to include the words “Evening Reception” in the wording to avoid confusion and make it clear that this is an invitation to the evening only.

For formal weddings, everything is written out in full (no numerals), and the year is optional. Writing the time informally on your invite as “7:30 pm” is fine for more casual weddings or modern invitations.
