Its proximity to major cities makes the state park a popular weekend destination for both Florida locals and visitors.

Honeymoon Island State Park is part of a string of barrier islands sparkling in the Gulf of Mexico off Florida’s West Coast. It is a real gem, preserved in a natural state for everyone to enjoy. Unlike some similar parks that are accessible only by boat, Honeymoon Island State Park rewards its visitors with over four miles of pristine beaches and a three-mile trail through one of Florida’s only virgin slash pine forests.

The park is located on 350 acres of land in the city of Dunedin, Florida, about 30 minutes west of Tampa International Airport. Visitors can enjoy swimming, fishing, shelling, hiking, and bicycling while taking a casual walk along the new nature center trail and discovering native Florida plants and animals.
