Del Rey finished the recording of her third studio album, Ultraviolence, in March 2014, and by June of the same year she had begun working on a follow-up idea stating that the process was growing into something I really like. Im kind of enjoying sinking into this more noirish sic feel for this one. Its been good.3In a December 2014 interview with Galore Magazine, Del Rey revealed she had begun working on a new album.4In January 2015, Lana Del Rey announced via Billboard that she had begun work on her fourth studio album, announcing she was going to release an album entitled Honeymoon sometime that same year.3During the time of the announcement, Del Rey also said that she had written and recorded nine songs that could possibly be featured on the album and stated that she was covering Nina Simones Dont Let Me Be Misunderstood.3 During the interview with Billboard, Del Rey stated that the album would be different from her previous release, Ultraviolence, but similar to her first major release, Born to Die, and the extended play Paradise.3 *During the albums recording process it was reported that producer Mark Ronson had collaborated with Del Rey for Honeymoon, but their writing sessions did not produce any material for the album.5In December 2014, Del Rey stated to Grazia magazine that she wanted to introduce orchestrations with monumental choruses with a touch of subdued grunge for the album, during the recording sessions she played ten songs to Mark Ronson and stated that the album would be exploring a sound close to the golden age of jazz.6Besides working with Ronson, Del Rey also worked with Dan Heath and Rick Nowels, with the pair Del Rey began writing small pieces for independent films continuing to state that Dan Heath and Rick Nowels are two of my dearest friends and producers and we are always up to something.7 Heath would eventually not feature on the album; however, Rick Nowels went on to co-produce and co-write each song with Del Rey.In January 2015, Del Rey confirmed the song Music to Watch Boys To which was initially intended to be the title for the whole album, she also revealed that she wrote it in a visual, noirish way saying the title (of the song) lends itself to a visual of shadows of men passing by, this girls eyes, her face. I can definitely see things.8 The same month, Del Rey stated she was aiming to record a few more songs to tie the project together.9 High by the Beach was recorded as one of the last tracks for the album. Its development started with its chorus, which was inspired by a period when Lana Del Rey frequently drove by the beach.10.
Why is it called honeymoon?
The word “honeymoon” comes from the Middle Ages. The word “honeymoon” comes from the Middle Ages. At that time, newlywed couples drank mead for a month after their wedding. This tradition was believed to bring good luck and fertility to the couple. A honeymoon is now seen as a romantic vacation for newlyweds. It’s a chance for the couple to spend time together and make memories. Make your honeymoon everything you dreamed of!
The Modern Honeymoon. Today, the term “honeymoon” is used in two ways. If you’re newly married, it’s your first vacation with your spouse. If you’re in a new relationship, it’s a happy time when everything is new, love is love, and you and your partner are perfect.

Why does Lana Del Rey call herself Lana Del Rey?
She chose a stage name for her first album. I wanted a name that would fit the music. I was in Miami a lot at the time, speaking Spanish with friends from Cuba. Lana Del Rey reminded us of the glamour of the seaside. It sounded great. The name was inspired by actress Lana Turner and the Ford Del Rey sedan, produced and sold in Brazil in the 1980s. She used the alternate spelling Lana Del Rey for her self-titled debut album, released in January 2010. Her father helped with the marketing. It was available for purchase on iTunes for a brief period before being withdrawn in April 2010. Kahne and Nichtern said that Del Rey bought the rights back from 5 Points, as she wanted it out of circulation. This was part of a calculated strategy. Three months after Lana Del Rey’s album came out, she met her managers, Ben Mawson and Ed Millett. They helped her leave her contract with 5 Points Records, which she felt wasn’t doing anything. She moved to London and lived with Mawson for a few years. On September 1, 2010, Del Rey was featured by Mando Diao in its MTV Unplugged concert at Union Film-Studios in Berlin. She also acted in a short film, Poolside, which she made with friends. Her breakthrough came with Born to Die and Paradise. In 2011, Del Rey uploaded self-made music videos for her songs “Video Games” and “Blue Jeans” to YouTube. The “Video Games” video became a viral internet sensation, leading to Del Rey being signed by Stranger Records to release the song as her debut single. She told The Observer: I put that song online a few months ago because I loved it. The song was not going to be the single, but people liked it. She won a Q award for Next Big Thing in October 2011 and an Ivor Novello for Best Contemporary Song in 2012. She signed a deal with Interscope Records and Polydor to release her second album, Born to Die, in the same month. She started dating Barrie-James ONeill that year. The couple split in 2014 after three years together. On January 14, 2012, Del Rey performed two songs from the album on Saturday Night Live. She received a negative response from critics and the public. She had earlier defended her spot on the program. I’m a good musician. I’ve been singing for a long time. Lorne Michaels knows that. It wasn’t a fluke.

Is Honeymoon Lana’s real account?
Why did Lana Del Rey make a private Instagram page? Some socialites use social media to have fun, but Del Rey’s pages are an extension of her music. Her @Honeymoon Instagram page was created to promote her album of the same name. The private account’s bio says, “Honeymoon is alive and breathing.” It’s been that way since Del Rey opened the account in 2015. The expression suggests that Del Rey was preparing fans for the album’s release. Now, it seems to be more than that. It shows that Del Rey is still active and upright, no matter what controversy may come her way. It’s likely that Del Rey’s Instagram account is private because she wants some privacy on social media. But that doesn’t mean she only follows family and close friends. Two million people can still follow her. After saying she was going to deactivate most of her socials in September 2021, @Honeymoon is still one of her only accounts that’s still up. That leaves me with one question: How do I get her to follow me?

📹 LANA DEL REY – HONEYMOON
New album ‘Chemtrails Over The Country Club’ out Mar. 19th! Pre-Order: https://Lana.lnk.to/ChemtrailsOverTheCountryClub …
Lana Del Rey has a great merit: she brought back real instruments in music, every song presents a multi-layered arrangement that makes musicians crazy; she brought back that “hollywood diva” music, with its contradictions, melancholy and immorality; she preserves her nature, yet she’s always fresh. Ok, i can say i love her.
I love how haunting this song is. It uses horror instruments and it’s production gives you an eerie feel, and the vocals contrast it with an angelic heavenly voice. It makes it feel as if this song has a dark undertone, which I mean you can see by the lyrics, but the production tells you everything without saying a word.
It’s disappointing how others don’t appreciate and like honeymoon as much as the other Lana Era’s. Don’t get me wrong, I love Born to Die and Ultraviolence but honeymoon is just as good as any other Lana album. Hopefully after making an album with more Born to Die vibes, Lana tries to create something similar to Honeymoon because it’s beautiful.
This song actually used to make me emotional when it got to the “Dreamin’ away your life” part, because I realized that that was exactly what I was doing. I wanted to do a lot of good, but didn’t now where to start, and my social anxiety was a big hindrance. But I sucked it up, got my GED, went to community college, and actually just received an offer to be in an honor society, because of maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Things are looking up!
I hate it when people dismiss a song because it isn’t “exciting” or “too slow” or doesn’t build up when this is a really beautiful haunting song. I can imagine myself lying down next to my boyfriend just relaxing by the beach in Malibu. It’s such a romantic, peaceful breath of fresh air (idk if that makes sense). I really need this. Lmao I guess you can’t please everyone. But I think this is amazing.
Lana’s lover in this song is described to be trapped and said to be surrounded by violence, guns, and fire. If we take these lyrics literally, I think her lover is stuck in a bad situation. Or figuratively, they are trapped within their own depression. The “honeymoon” Lana descrives is everything they could have if her lover’s circumstances were different. Lana is her lover’s closest way out, “but you dont go because, truly, there’s nobody for you but me”
I’ve listened to Honeymoon thousands of times over the years and it absolutely fucking destroys me every single time. I feel love and loss and longing and melancholia. It’s beautiful, it’s emotional, it’s haunting, it’s somber, it’s insanely atmospheric, it’s captivating. It’s one of the most powerful songs I’ve ever heard. Her voice just enraptures me. Still my favourite album of hers, and still my favourite song. The Honeymoon album was just perfection.
Back in the day people said this type of music was boring, but in the long run it aged like fine wine and its influence it’s undeniable. Nowadays more artists try to make calming music, with less melodies, less noise and more moments of silence (the biggest examples of this are Rosalia and Billie right now).
Honestly, I feel like Lana Del Rey is a writer. She’s a poet who makes music out of her poems because music is more popular than poems nowadays and it reaches more people. I feel like that’s her intention. She’s a natural poet and I love the music she makes. She just sings her poems and it’s great and smart.
I just realized that I’ve been listening to her album honeymoon for a year now. Every single day, every month since it came out. I’d tried to get into other artist, but I always come back here.(i’ve been doing that for the past 4 years now) It’s such a masterpiece, such an angelic voice, I don’t even have words to describe Lana’s songs and how beautiful they are. I love them so much that I even started writing books based on the 14 songs in the honeymoon album
This is her best album. I can’t believe people put this at the bottom when it comes to ranking her discography. Is it because it doesn’t have beats and the attention span of zoomers is that limited to the point where if “dumdumdum” cannot be heard they get bored? I was amazed at how cinematic this album sounds the first time I’ve heard it. That intro gives me shivers everytime.
We both know that it’s not fashionable to love me But you don’t go ’cause truly there’s nobody for you but me We could cruise to the blues Wilshire Boulevard if we choose Or whatever you want to do We make the rules Our honeymoon Our honeymoon Our honeymoon Say you want me too Say you want me too Dark blue Dark blue We both know the history of violence that surrounds you But I’m not scared, there’s nothing to lose now that I’ve found you And we could cruise to the news Pico Boulevard in your used Little bullet car if we choose Mr. born to lose Our honeymoon Our honeymoon Our honeymoon Say you want me too Say you want me too Dark blue Dark blue There are violets in your eyes There are guns that blaze around you There are roses in between my thighs And a fire that surrounds you It’s no wonder every man in town Had neither fought nor found you Everything you do is elusive To even your honey dew Our honeymoon Our honeymoon Our honeymoon Dreaming away your life Dreaming away your life Dreaming away your life Dreaming away your life Dreaming away your life Dreaming away your life
It’s not the voice, not the lyrics nor the pace but the fucking balance, the orgasmic aesthetic that marks Del Rey’s work, every single piece. You won’t understand or appreciate it while driving your car or doing chores. The music demands your complete attention, giving in return an escape from reality, a trip to heaven, a belief in love and all things metaphysical. This is art! For an agnostic I feel blessed.
Though everyone is entitled to their own opinion, those who say this song and Lana’s new music in general are “lazy” don’t realize that this is poetry. No song is lazy. A singer can repeat the same exact sentence 25 times, add music, and release the song, and it wouldn’t be lazy at all. Because that singer felt that sentence 25 different times. It means something to them even if it doesn’t even make sense to you. Just enjoy the sound, the way it makes you feel, the haunting music, and the way her voice flows. There’s really nothing lazy about it.
There are violets in your eyes, there are guns that blaze around you. There are roses in between my thighs, fire that surrounds you. It’s no wonder every man in town had neither fought nor found, everything you do is elusive too, even your honeydew. This bridge has some of the most beautiful sounds and lyrics i’ve ever heard.
Lana Del Rey don’t sing for others. Those who don’t like her song please ignore it. She don’t give the shit on your repulsive comments. She once said “I’m very selfish. I make everything for me, kind of… It’s just for me… I don’t want them to hear it and think about it. It’s none of their business!” Queen forever <3
It’s so amazing how so many people just find the perfect words and descriptions of what they feel about Lana’s music, I love each and every comment section of her articles. I sadly don’t know anyone here around me who ships her music the way I do, it is nice to see others feeling what I’m feeling. I hope you’re all fine by the way. Let’s stay enchanted by Lana, especially around 2 or 3 AM, when no one is around and music sounds as real as ever.
A Youtuber that was featured on Youtubers React once said, “Make what whatever content works for you because the ones that are innovative will break through and be remembered forever.” This really applies to the case of Lana Del Rey’s music. It doesn’t matter if she gets an award for anything or not but what really matters most is while other more popular music in the mainstream Hollywood fades overtime Lana Del Rey’s music will always be remember because it has a special meaning in fans hearts all over the world. To add to that Lana Del Rey is not afraid to take risks get her hands dirty and do something different that goes against what the Pop Culture is trying to sell.
I applaud her for releasing this as the first taste of Honeymoon. There’ll definitely be more “single-worthy” songs on the album but it’s clear that she’s not aiming to be a pop star. She’s releasing a song that she appreciates and not one that the mainstream world will be into– not every song of hers (or anyone) has to be dramatic and grand, it’s refreshing to hear something like this… It’s so great to see her so happy and proud of the rest of the album, and I can’t wait to hear it.
I think the beginning of that song is just fantastic, oh my god it sounds so well and nice and so satisfying, you can feel the lyrics inside your body, your head, and every part of you, it’s poetic. ( I’m not an native English speaker, so excuse me if I make some mistakes, it’s just that I want to express what i feel in English
I love how everyone is saying that this is boring, and repetitive. Y’all complain about the dumbest things. Have you heard the songs that play on radio stations? Repetitive crap that is so overplayed, that I don’t even bother turning on the radio when I drive anymore. Lana makes beautiful music for people who appreciate a different taste in music. Everyone complained about her not releasing new songs, but she’s a busy woman who just wants to make beautiful art, like she’s been doing for so long. But some people are so ignorant and ungrateful that even when she does release a masterpiece like this song, everyone feels the need to compare it. Shut up, and go listen to something you do like, and quit wasting your time commenting on this beautiful woman’s art. 🙂
listening to this album was literally my high school life, six years later i am here and i got reminded of how weak, lonely, and broken hearted i was, as well as destroyed by the person i have loved the most, i do not think i will love somebody this way again. ahh brings back so much memories, i am happy i grew out of it.
I am currently reading The Road to Paradise Island, a book she is shown holding in the other music article. Haven’t reached that far, maybe first 15 pages I think, but after the 2024 Grammys I can see so much of her in the book’s protagonist Annalice Mallory. Annalice seems to lover her hobby of painting maps not for any social recognition or fame. She doesn’t do it for any kind of financial independence either, but purely for the love of the art and the wild and interesting places it takes her mind to. Kinda reminds me of the 2012 interview of Lana where she said that she made music for herself mainly, because she simply loves writing music and had been doing so for a long time. Another way that Annalice reminds me of Lana is the way she contemplates on people and lives in a way nobody around her in her time does. It’s a characteristic that I believe lends the complexity and layers of meaning in Lana’s music.
I have been listening to this all day, and during some of that time I’ve been reading the comments and I just want to say that I think this is who Lana truly is right now. I don’t think we will ever get a record like BTD or PD ever again, because that isn’t who she is anymore. She’s grown as a person and a musician so of course her sound is going to change. She even said in her ‘Ride’ article that she has a “chameleon soul”. Not to mean she isn’t showing us her authentic self, just that she is constantly changing and growing. Maybe when she was writing BTD that was her true self in the moment, but we can all see that that isn’t the case anymore. I think any real fan can still find the essence of her in whatever she does. Love you, Lana, and I’m so deliriously excited for Honeymoon!
It seems like a lot (not all) of the people who find this boring don’t really appreciate or listen to jazz. And that’s fine if jazz isn’t someone’s thing as we all have different tastes and preferences. However, lana grew up listening to jazz so a lot (not all) of her music has tons of jazz undertones and influences to it. So if jazz isn’t something that one likes, they may find this quite dull. However, I love it. And i love that she is incorporating that sound into the song 🙂
This song has James Bond written all over it. Feels like it belongs to the scene when Vesper and Bond are sailing to Venice in Casino Royale. By the way, the best of all Bond films by far. It has all the elements a perfect movie must have, but anyway, This song or something as dark would fit in just perfect. Sounds dangerous, mysterious, dark and shouts an impossible love story. There are violets in your eyes. – There is violence in your eyes
It all started on our “HONEYMOON” when I told “SALVATORE” that I still loved my ex. Even after all these years, I couldn’t get him off my mind. He was my “RELIGION”. I was “24” years old when I had met him at an “ART DECO” show where he was reading the poem “BURNT NORTON”. I went over and asked him if he would be my “FREAK” so that we could get “HIGH BY THE BEACH”. He immediately agreed and somewhere along the way we fell in love. But as fate would have it our relationship started to sour soon after. Then one day me and my girls were in a record store searching for some “MUSIC TO WATCH BOYS TO” when suddenly he entered the store and told me “TERRENCE LOVES YOU” no more. I swear that was “THE BLACKEST DAY” of my life!!! “GOD KNOWS I TRIED” to save what was left of our relationship. “DON’T LET ME BE MISUNDERSTOOD” but this was a once in a lifetime love affair that I couldn’t sing a “SWAN SONG” to.
Mind-blowing melody on the background, beautiful unique lyrics, and the most amazing voice…Lana just keeps getting better and better, she went beyond my expectations with this song. I cannot wait to see what other master pieces she will include in her album. Truly one of the most amazing artists of this time. I love her.
I clearly have the unpopular opinion that Ultraviolence was a masterpiece, I enjoyed every song on that album…BTD not so much. BTD is far more commercialized, which is why the masses loved it. She definitely had beautiful songs on BTD, but from a truly musical/artistic stand point it doesn’t hold a candle to Ultraviolence. The instrumentation alone on that record was crazy. I will admit that I’m not fond of Honeymoon and it’s definitely not the most exciting song, it’s got to grow on me. However I really do have to ask why everyone hated Ultraviolence…that record made me love Lana.
If a beautiful song like this, or all of Ultraviolence wasn’t good enough for you, THEN GTFO AND LEAVE LANA AND HER FANS ALONE. I mean for god sakes she doesn’t live to please you. This is her art, HER music. We’re lucky enough to even be able to hear it. The born to die era is over. Like, WAY over. Get over it. Grow with Lana or go listen to the trash broadcasted over the airways.
There is a word, which is used, to describe the feelings and emotions stirred, inside the listener, whilst experiencing music such as this album but especially the song Honeymoon. That word is ‘saudade’. This is my first experience of Lana del Rey’s music (outside the mainstream hits) – I know, where have I been? Anyway, look up ‘saudade’, this is the reason that, everyone, here loves this track and album but you don’t, yet realise it.
We both know that it’s not fashionable to love me But you don’t go cause truly there’s nobody for you but me We could cruise to the blues Wilshire Boulevard if we choose Or whatever you want to do We make the rules Our honeymoon Our honeymoon Our honeymoon Say you want me too Say you want me too Dark blue Dark blue We both know the history of violence that surrounds you But I’m not scared, there’s nothing to lose now that I’ve found you We could cruise to the news Pico blvd in you used little bullet car if we choose Mr. Born to lose Our honeymoon Our honeymoon Our honeymoon Say you want me too Say you want me too Dark blue Dark blue There are violets in your eyes There are guns that blaze around you There are roses in between my thighs and fire that surrounds you It’s no wonder every man in town had neither fought nor found you Everything you do is elusive to even your honey dew Our honeymoon Our honeymoon Our honeymoon Dreaming away your life Dreaming away your life Dreaming away your life
I love Lana but I want music not anesthesia. I can hear the hints of Born To Die towards the end of the song but that’s it. Hints. Judging by the intro the articles for this album will probably be as lazy as they were for Ultraviolence. What happened after Born To Die/Paradise? Everything since then has been so lazy. The articles, the music is subpar and the whole aesthetic of the Lana Del Rey alter ego have disappeared. Her music and articles used to be filled with so much effort and you could tell she had such wonderful imagery to share with the grand productions of articles like Born To Die, Tropico, National Anthem, Summertime Sadness, etc. Now it’s just lazy because she’s hit it big and knows for a fact her loyal fans will worship anything she puts out. I really hope the albums great but for now I’m not expecting much. This is all my opinion and if you don’t agree with it or like that’s fine. Agree to disagree.
