Clickbait. I watched the article. All the host said was, there was a no filming policy in their restaurant. I have never known any restaurant, especially a fancy one, to allow random people to come in, not order anything, loiter around and start filming. Please use common sense instead of reacting to the title. The hostess was so polite! To Tranos, I would say, stop being so entitled. No one owes you anything. When someone says, no filming it means no filming, their restaurant, their rules.
The way the subtitles read, the worker questioned them as they just walked in on their own.. He then says theyre looking at the place and the menu and LATER they would eat and she basically said no because they have guests there.. They were pulling up the blinds like they owned the place. I don’t understand how this works in China, but here in Los Angeles it would be very unusual for a person to walk into a restaurant filming a article just to look around without sitting down and having a meal. Frankly, I think the racism card is being pulled out too quickly here.The fault is more with your friend than with you or with the staff. Being a local he should’ve known better. We deal with this on almost daily. It’s called micro-aggression. Much of it is subconscious and the people doing it ‘sometimes’ don’t realize it. Sometimes they do. For example: you’re in line and the person in front of you receives a friendly smile, warm conversation etc..then you step up and all of a sudden the person behind the counter frowns or stop smiling, talk to you in short terms (if they talk to you at all), try to rush you etc etc. Yep! Constantly know the feeling.

There are people of good will and heart anywhere, spiritual and human despite it is not a common thing to find, but there are. I may be wrong and I’m sure there’s racism in every country including China…..but in this case, the lady was saying they don’t allow “anybody” (any non-customer, not just this young man) to just walk into the restaurant to look see, unless you’re a customer. I think thee problem is that you came in without a dinner reservation or intending to eat. The place literally looks like you have to wait to be seated. I am Chinese, and there is no racial discrimination in the article from beginning to end. On the contrary, it is the Asian guy who is really rude. Because Chinese hotel restaurants (especially high-end hotels) are relatively private places, most of them are only allowed to be entered by hotel guests. It is inappropriate for them to enter without the permission of the waiter, especially when there are guests eating, and it is very impolite to shoot without permission. When he talked to 2 chefs who were foreigners, they confirmed the policy and gave an explanation. One of the biggest take away’s in this should be that in observing this lady’s behavior, we also have to observe his friend who’s also Chinese setting her straight and calling her out. The lesson is that there is good and evil everywhere whether location wise or group wise. She’s Chinese but she’s an evil person given how she conducts herself and her mindset. She said it is the company policy. The waitress is protecting the restaurant customers privacy and apply the restaurant no filming policy if you are not the restaurant customers. These two guys without respect of the restaurant filming policy and accuse of racism. Don’t pull out the racist card as an excuse to abused the restaurant policy- NO filming allowed in the restaurant unless you are the customer. The waitress ( lady) is a good employee. Shame of these two guys not only not admitted their mistakes and accused others are racist.

That is where it hurts the most and you start to really hate being part chinese but now I am older I make sure to teach them a thing or two to broaden their narrow mind. This usually happens because they are not exposed enough or they live in a bubble.
