  • After hearing the Red Pill websites screaming their reasons why they don’t want to be married (money, fear of being finessed, lack of sex, trauma, etc), hearing a female perspective of why they don’t want to marry is an eyebrow raiser. I knew about the possibility of shorting of a lifespan, but this has my attention. Kudos for this article, Ms. Karine.

  • People have judged me a lot for not being married since 26 years old, Im 30 now. Ive been proposed to 3 times and said no each time because they didnt meet my standards- he didnt contribute enough in the relationship. I too often felt I gave 10x more. Financially especially. Im now learning to be totally self sufficient and Im the happiest, most capable, more money and the most single Ive ever been. I know the drain marraige has on women. But the biggest drain is that asking for equality and respect in the relationship is seen as the ‘nagging wife’. ‘The ol’ ball and chain’ Its unreasonable. Women give so much and its taken for granted. If I can become my whole happy self and be happy on my own AND find a man who does the same- great. But I will not settle. I will never marry if thats what it takes to be fulfilled. You are whole on your own, your best self is acheivable. Thank you for another beautiful, empowering article.

  • I hear this so often that men want a women to bring peace but there is no bringing peace to a woman. If you have a bad day at work as a man it’s expected that your wife will go above and beyond for you but as a woman if you have a bad day with the kids or a bad day at work it’s still expected of you to go above and beyond for him.

  • Okay, as a happy, healthy, physically fit (buff & toned) 60 something woman who has never been married and chose not to have children, I feel compelled to share my experience with younger women. I don’t believe that trauma is the primary reason for many women today choosing not to marry. Some of us simply realize that “our lives belong to us exclusively” and we do not “owe” others nor society to conform to their expectations. Education is another factor. The more education a woman has, the more exposure she has to the many options available to her in the world. With exposure to more options, comes exposure to more income generating opportunities and more self-development opportunities and more personal growth and enriching life experiences. When I speak with many women who have divorced their husbands, the number one complaint was that he didn’t want to try new things, travel to new places or invest in personal growth. One reason for this is that men are not socialized to compromise. They are socialized to lead, to compete, to have power and to win accolades. While women are socialized to sacrifice and be the supporters and cheerleaders for men and expect very little in return. This is one reason why many married women feel under appreciated. The society tells us we should be grateful just to have a man and we don’t need our needs met. But now women are waking up. Whatever brings you happiness and peace of mind, should be your choice. It’s YOUR life and you don’t need to compromise for anyone.

  • I love the companionship of my marriage most. The quality of the man must be good…or yes, it will be stressful. I’ve been blessed with a husband who loves me beyond my looks. I can look terrible and he is still attracted to me. My first husband was horrible and told me (after I had gained a lot of weight when pregnant) anyway, he told me he was totally turned off by the weight and admitted he had only married me for my looks. Wow….that was the beginning of the end. He called me 12 years later to apologize…..I was long over it, but that was nice. My new husband is kind….sweet….funny and to top it all off movie star handsome. I was really blessed. I prayed hard for a good man. I got more than I prayed for…..

  • You can also break your sacrum coccyx (tail bone) during labor. I am 27 years old still learning about pregnancy and child labor! I was a c-section baby because I was making my mom’s blood pressure too high. It could have lead to her having a stroke in labor. That is soo mind boggling! I can’t imagine myself being a mother honestly.. I’ve never been in a relationship longer than 3 months because I’m not about to raise a man into what I expect him to be. It’s really gonna take someone special to impress me, I wish society wouldn’t put such a rush on everything to be something by a certain age. I’ve also heard the whole ” you don’t move out until you’re married” within the Hispanic community as well. I’m African American and my mom always told us to get an education, she never pushed dating or whatnot.

  • I’m newly single with 2 young girls and I was so afraid of them being raised in a home where it’s “broken” but I just realized if the mother is happy in her single and is thriving then the home is not broken it’s still beautiful and filled with love. I can’t be with their father anymore I’m so tired of being paranoid every single day can’t focus on me too focused on him and what he doing smh it’s my time now!

  • The only way that a single woman cannot be happy is if she is comparing herself to relationships that she sees on social media which is usually fake anyway. That’s why it’s important to tailor what you watch. As single child free women. We literally only have ourself to control and look after. If we are feeling sad. At least we know it’s from things that are within our control.

  • Yes make sure you’re good spiritually, financially, emotionally, etc before marriage👈🏾that part❤️. I had a friend who’s parents got a divorce while she was in college and she was like I wish they did it way sooner. Many couples “stay for the kids” while the children are suffering in the crossfire of all the drama🤔

  • Hi Karine, I like that you included men in this conversation. Also men marry for the wrong reasons – and some women need to know about that in advance to save themselves from a toxic marriage. I see my married friends, one is in therapy and the other one is constantly tired and stressed, even if she is actually happy of her life. I personally don’t envy their lives. I send you a kiss and I thank you for this beautiful article 🙏♥️
