Uma Thurman, known for her roles in Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, is often compared to the character of The Bride in the film. Tarantino has noted that he first thought of the premise and main character of Kill Bill during the writing and filming of Mia’s final scene. The Fox Force Five bears a connection to the Tarintino universe theory, as Mia Wallace was an actor in a TV show pilot.
In Kill Bill, Thurman plays Beatrix “The Bride” Kiddo, an ex-assassin who seeks revenge against those responsible. She is most recognized for her roles as Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction and Beatrix “The Bride” Kiddo in Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2.
The defining characteristic of Mia Wallace is her refusal to fall for anyone, which may parallel real-life situations involving substances. In Pulp Fiction, she shoots about five deadly female agents, including the blond leader, the deadliest woman with a knife, a Japanese kung-fu fighter, a black demolition expert, and a French femme fatale type.
Tarantino’s career began in 1992 with the crime movie Reservoir Dogs, and he almost didn’t play Mia Wallace in Kill Bill. Both Mia Wallace and The Bride have become icons, ranking as the two most beloved characters of Thurman’s career.

Did Vincent love Mia in Pulp Fiction?
It’s probably just friendship. Vincent and Mia had good chemistry. After dinner and dancing, he wanted to give her more than a foot massage. However, they knew that if they had sex, it would hurt Marsellus.
What happens to Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction?
Character analysis. Ivy O’Shannon says that Mia Wallace is not the real Mia. She thinks Mia moved to LA to be a badass. She wanted to be an actress and play Raven McCoy. However, it didn’t work out, so she married a wealthy man who was feared. This made her stay home and not be seen. She turned to drugs as a mask to play the badass she wanted to be on screen. She wears this mask with Vincent most of the evening. O’Shannon says we only see the real Mia after she overdoses and is saved by Vincent. She is resurrected with a new perspective, finally allowing the audience to see her unmasked. Jason Bailey saw Mia as someone who easily controlled men. He thought she was manipulative but also self-aware. He compared three other characters to Mia: Phyllis Dietrichson in Double Indemnity; Kitty Collins in The Killers; and Gilda Farrell in Gilda. Why did Marsellus ask Vincent to take Mia out?
A Reddit theory says Marsellus tested his workers by sending them to spend time with Mia. The author says that Jules told Vincent about Tony Rocky Horror to warn him about what was to come. This is shown when Vincent and Mia are together. Vincent talks to himself in the bathroom, trying to decide what to do next. Vincent says, “This is a test of loyalty. Being loyal is important.” Marsellus plans to test his men’s loyalty by using Mia. She “throws herself” at them because it’s part of the test. Mia’s reaction to Vincent questioning her about Tony at Jack Rabbit Slims is evidence of her lying and getting defensive. Mia was an actress, so she knew how to use her skills. She probably pretended to be offended by the foot massage story when she knew why it happened. Some fans have questioned the theory. They ask why Marsellus would put one of his trusted men through the “Mia test.” The author explains that Vincent had just returned from Amsterdam. He met Mia and married her while he was away. They worked in a business full of betrayals. Vincent had to undergo the test as soon as he came back. Another viewer said that a deleted scene showed Mia interviewing Vincent with a video camera. This could have been part of the test so Marsellus could see how things went. This fits with Pulp Fiction. It’s up to you if it works. Next: Tarantino Theory: Pulp Fiction is a prequel to Reservoir Dogs.

That year, she also starred in The Avengers, a financial and critical flop. In 1999, she performed in theater in an update of Molières The Misanthrope at the Classic Stage Company and portrayed a socialite in Woody Allens Sweet and Lowdown. Thurman was on a break from acting after having her daughter in 1998. She did a few small, low-budget projects after that. This scene makes me think that dancing is the only meaning of life.
So Quentin is from my hometown Knoxville Tn. In interviews he said he watched second rated or second run movies from hill behind South Clinton drive in theaters. He said he read the ads always for films shown at Knoxvilles Tennessee theater downtown which showed the best movies martial arts era but he couldnt get to Knoxville or afford to go to movies. So he sat behind drive in watched for free. As I got older my best friend got lisence at 16 and we did exact same thing no cash but riding in car out and about having fin as youngsters FREEDOM from adults rules etc…. Only did this few times as best friend became extremely aggressive driver I no longer rode with him. Later in life I served as pallbearer for my best friend after he involved in fatal accident he caused. Still great memories of best friend and Quentin story.at drive in.
I was wondering about Jimmy’s wife’s backstory. I mean, Jules and Vincent are these cold hearted hitmen working for the most badass mob boss in town. And Jimmy has the kind of relationship with Jules, that he screams at him. But Jimmy, is scared of his wife. And Jimmy, Jules, Vincent and wolf have to run around working, to hide something from Jimmy’s wife.
Why is Vincent the only single person in the movie? Think about it: -Marcellus and Mia are married. -Lance and Jody are married. -Jimmy is married to Bonnie. -Butch and Fabian are coupled. -Pumpkin and Honey-Bunny are coupled. -The Wolf and Raquel from Monster Joe’s share some implied relationship. -Jules says at one point he doesn’t eat cheeseburgers because of his vegetarian girlfriend. Is Vincent asexual? Is it meant to have some ambiguous-gay meaning?

Uma Thurman is beyond fabulous in this film. It’s not even a textbook showy performance but she’s so playful, enigmatic, and youthful. She drives it home with her solo dance concert in her living room. She was always one of my favorite characters, and I wish we had more of her in the following storylines.
For anyone who doesn’t know: earlier in the movie, when Vincent is buying the heroin from his dealer, his dealer mentions he’s out of balloons and only has baggies. Heroin is normally put in balloons, while coke is put in baggies. So Mia thinks it’s coke and doesn’t realize it’s heroin until after she snorts it, and that’s why she overdoses.
The masterpiece without a message One of the early scenes in “Pulp Fiction” features two hit-men discussing what a Big Mac is called in other countries. Their dialogue is witty and entertaining, and it’s also disarming, because it makes these two thugs seem all too normal. If you didn’t know better, you might assume these were regular guys having chit-chat on their way to work. Other than the comic payoff at the end of the scene, in which they use parts of this conversation to taunt their victims, their talk has no relevance to anything in the film, or to anything else, for that matter. Yet without such scenes, “Pulp Fiction” wouldn’t be “Pulp Fiction.” I get the sense that Tarantino put into the film whatever struck his fancy, and somehow the final product is not only coherent but wonderfully textured. It’s no wonder that fans spend so much time debating what was in the suitcase, reading far more into the story than Tarantino probably intended. The film is so intricately structured, with so many astonishing details, many of which you won’t pick up on the first viewing, that it seems to cry out for some deeper explanation. But there is no deeper explanation. “Pulp Fiction,” is, as the title indicates, purely an exercise in technique and style, albeit a brilliant and layered one. Containing numerous references to other films, it is like a great work of abstract art, or “art about art.” It has all the characteristics we associate with great movies: fine writing, first-rate acting, unforgettable characters, and one of the most well-constructed narratives I’ve ever seen in a film.
Every turn of this movie, it drags you down into a sickening and twisted situation. Here, you have a younger woman, that was getting ready to get laid by Vincent. If Vincent would have just got down on her right away, she never would have thought about getting high. But, in the sick and twisted mind of Quentin Tarantino, he leads the audience into one frustrating situation after another, so that you end up getting sickened.

Viewed this when it was released at the theatre. I thought the movie was fresh and innovative in ‘94. But as the years have gone by, and I’ve viewed more films, including foreign, I notice there’s a lot of high jacking by QT on earlier works of films made between the 60s-80s. QT may say those films were influential, some may say it’s copying. Imho Jackie Brown was his best, the rest particularly his last OUATIH were hollow, sprinkled in with his signature exploitive violence.
