Kudo is more interesting than your typical stoic prince. Next, we have Miyo. She has been through a lot. The first few chapters of this book put her back into the hands of her sister and stepmother. But here, even though she’s physically weak, she’s mentally strong. She’s changed. She has a reason to fight. When the family asks her to marry Kudo instead of Kaya, Miyo says no for the first time. Even though her family is far away, she still has trouble moving on. She has trouble sleeping and still has nightmares about the abuse she suffered. This affects her daily life. As others have said, I’m glad the author didn’t make her trauma go away just because her family did. She needs to work through her self-doubt and hatred. She also needs to find her own worth outside of Kudo.
