He asked Michael if he wanted to go home, but Michael said no. Michael was confused about why no one told him sooner, but didn’t say more. He pushed his feelings down where his other memories were. After a few more moments, Michael stood up and kept practicing. That night, Leigh Anne tried to help Michael deal with this loss. She told him he didn’t know his father. She said it might be cold, but he might be better off. Michael would make a lot of money playing football, and his dad would probably try to claim some of it. Michael agreed. Now 37, Oher says he was disheartened to learn he wasn’t formally adopted by the Touhys. “This is hard for my family and me,” he said. People are saying he is wrong. The Tuohys say the allegations are false and that Oher’s lawsuit is a “shakedown.” Author Michael Lewis, who wrote the book and is a friend of Sean Tuohys, told the Washington Post that it was easier for the Tuohys to become his legal guardians than to adopt him. “They gave him lots of love and resources,” Lewis said. “He’s suspicious of them. That’s incredible.” “I feel sad for him.” For Angela Tucker, who is Black and was adopted by a white couple, it has been hard to hear people question Oher’s claims or suggest he should be grateful for the Tuohys’ support. Tucker, author of You Should Be Grateful: Stories of Race, Identity, and Transracial Adoption offers mentoring for adoptees of color who have struggled with sharing their feelings about being adopted. “What do Black and brown people have to do to be seen as fully human?” she asks. Black adoptees don’t get the benefit of the doubt. People always defend white people first. They look at us sideways and think, “There must be more to the story.” Maybe they’re lying.

📹 ‘In a Heartbeat’: The Tuohy Family Story
The family behind “The Blind Side” has written a book about its experiences.
The father Sean Touhy initially claimed they only received proceeds from the book and it was split $14,000 each, nothing from the movie. Then the biological son SJ here is admitting he received $60 – $70K from the movie. This is not adding up. The main character portrayed in the movie Michael Oher stated he received $0 from the movie.
Sean Tuohy: “I was five days from bankruptcy twice,” he said, in the year 2001″ “I think we started out negative,” he said, referring to cash on hand, and money stayed tight most of his career as he poured back equity into buying more restaurants, and adding debt with each transaction.” Article: Auspex Capital unwinds RGT Management with dose of philosophy Franchise Times
Wow, if Michael was really a part of their family, why isn’t he on the board of directors of their family foundation, but their lawyer Debbie, who helped file the conservatorship is? Why do they call him their son and not allow him to be a part of any inheritance? Why do they take speaking engagements advocating for adoption and promote it? Why is adoption a platform for them when they didn’t actually adopt? Why did they never correct the countless interviews and stories that stated they adopted Michael? Adoption would grant someone rights in the even of inheritance. I get that movie never actually said they adopted him. I get that their website never says they adopted him, but they definitely used this little white lie to their advantage to promote themselves in the name of charity. They used Michael’s image, his name, his person. I am horrified. It’s a lie by omission. They let everyone think Michael was adopted…as in full family rights. And they used that for their foundation, speaking engagements, clout in the community, a platform for adoption which they never did, and to sell t-shirts about how families don’t have to match. My gosh, this man has been through horrendous trauma and this family has no problem with the damage they have done in continuing to portray this image that they are some model adoption story. If you never correct a lie, is it still a lie? Yep. Especially, when you use it to bank off of. How many interviews and speaking engagements has Michael done? What is his story?
This case should go to court. A conservatorship lasting this long is ridiculous. Why did Michael take so long to figure out he is not adopted? Michael should get that conservatorship stopped. Why it wasn’t stopped sooner by the Tuohy’s and Michael is very odd. And he has every right to get a breakdown of where the monies went. It sounds like Michael has had hard feelings for a long while about everything and the family may have ignored his signals about this.
If he texted that back then, did they give him money? Obviously they knew he knew something. I wonder if they brushed him off and acted like they didn’t know what he was talking about. And I see nothing wrong with the timing of his book. It’s perfect timing. He gave them a chance to come clean….they didn’t.
Nothing these ppl say justifies what they did. How dare you even show your face. I understand why it took him a minute to come forward and sue,”love” he still is grateful for what they did and probably was trying to just let it go, imaging for yrs you know you never received money for a movie about your life, while the family that adopted you they and their children are, but you say nothing. You still go out and help sell the movie by doing interviews. Man that’s got to hurt, and than you find out they never really loved you, you were just an investment.
This saddens me because he should just be glad and greatful that those people took him in!!!!!!! Talk about ungreatful!!! You reap what you sow!! Lord have mercy!!! This is shameful and embarrassing!! Someone needs to tell him or explain to him that if it wasn’t for Jesus touching those people hearts then he would have NOTHING! Im going to pray that God convicts him and that he will apologize to those people who loved him unconditionally and without judgement. Smh
Did anyone watched the movie at least. It was not about adoption but about legal side. It was done for paperwork. He wanted a driver license, he wanted to go to college… They took advantage of him!? Well he obviously took advantage of them too. He got the supplies for his success and now in his interview he is claiming he got everting himself… Listen his recent interview. They are lots of athletic kids with no means that won’t be able to release their potential. He is not one in millions. He reached a level due to the support so he could concentrate on his career and not on financial side… I guess he worked hard but it is easier to work hard when you have home, food, nice car, all the supplies and somebody who cares.
These ppl didn’t need money they are millionaires. I find it very hard to believe that they would give him everything and then steal from him. Bottom line without the that family taking him in his life would of turned out way different they did what they did bc they loved him. This entire situation is heartbreaking.
This really breaks my heart 💔 this was my favorite movie. How can a movie like this makes millions off of his life and he didn’t receive money, plain and simple. This wasn’t about love this was about profiting off Micheal. To think that I got angry with the lady in the movie who implied it makes me really angry now 😡
They treated him with so much love. I can’t think of anyone who would bring in a grown ass stranger into the family when you have a younger daughter, and help him through so much, and be accused of “using him” for his money when your worth is many times what he’s earned as a star football player. I would say, Sean and SJ, just forget this person. You should have your love and affection for the people who are worth it.
Absolutely none of us are on their side. They literally exploited and knowingly took advantage of him This didn’t happen because he stopped playing. He retired. This happened because he just found out about his adoption lie and this is how long it took for his legal advisors to research what happened. Screw those people.
Just the fact that he CAN sue his adoptive family for that kinda money goes to show how blessed he was to even be rescued and taken care of by them. I wonder if he has any gratitude for that fact alone. Has he even stopped to think that his chances of ever being close to being as successful as he was professionally were amplified by the type of family that helped him? They had only been around each other less than two years when the conservatorship was presented as an option, it was totally fair for the family to have reservations of adopting him. They chose the closest option to and continued to love and support him financially. Looking back at it now, great thing they didn’t or else he would have expected for a lot more!
Read the book. The one that he said he liked. He knew of the conservatorship for a LONG time. He also makes it sound like he was an all American before the Tuohy’s, that is not true. Says, that he could read before the Tuohy’s, not true. Again, read the book (the original) that he endorses. It is all in there. This is sad… on Michael’s part.
Of course they are upset! After they took Michael’s money and keep using his name profiting from him, sure they’re going to keep loving him until the court breaks that contract and he gets the money that he deserves, right there their love for Michael it’s going to end because they’re not going to profit from him anymore!!
I wonder what the details really are. I do remember Michael apparently had some learning issues so maybe that comes into play. This story comes with more unknowns and high emotion than anything thing else. I do figure asking for a breakdown of the movie earnings is reasonable if he was promised proceeds and depending on what contracts were signed of course they should be honored. Now do they owe him money for their story of helping a young man or will he owe them money for sales of his book that tells his story of adversity, hard to say. I do hope that a family problem can be resolved within the family and that it is fair to all.
I watch the movie and I saw everything that happened. When you watch the movie you need to read between the lines…….. They asked him if he wanted to be part of their in his mind he already was a part of their family. They have conservative papers over. 37 years old that should have ended the day he turned 21 years old. If this actually goes to court then they are just in it for money 🤑 nothing else.
The Touy’s book and movie deals are on record. The movie alone paid them 2.5% of the $333 million profit, plus an initial payment of $225,000. Notice how the Touy’s claim to have made $40,000 “over the past 4 or 5 years.” The movie came out 20 years ago! They made millions! They’re only quoting recent streaming payments. Look, the Touy’s lied about him not knowing how to play football until Leann taught him the game (he was All State before they ever met), lied to Oher and the Public about the adoption, and lied that he was illiterate. The Touy’s are the proven liars, and ALL their comments merit extreme scrutiny and suspicion. Oher went to them PRIVATELY first, and offered them the chance to make things right OUT OF THE PUBLIC EYE. He asked them for his fair share of the profits from HIS story, and they told him to kick rocks. It’s not a shakedown by Oher. It’s a moral and likely legal failing on the part of the Touy’s.
First they say they only got 14k each now SJ is saying he received 70k in the last three years. How much did you receive in the first 3 years? They know they took advantage and attached themselves to someone they knew was about to come into money. never saw the movie something about it was always off to me.
The parents are RIGHTFULLY SCREWED…they gave the illusion a conservatorship… a conservators manages the person’s estate and finances. The duties of a conservator for a minor include the following: protecting the estate until the child reaches adulthood… prudently investing the estate as a reasonable investor would under the circumstances… maintaining loyalty to the child while administering the estate… keeping records, including receipts reporting to the court when needed… A conservator could become legally liable for mismanaging the estate of the children. Mixing estate and personal assets could become grounds for removal by a court….they breached their fiduciary duty…they did things not “IN THE BEST INTEREST OF MR OHER”…they are screwed…they did it…it’s an easy case to prove…
I would ask myself, “Where would I be without the Touys in my life?” But I chose to embrace a life of gratitude over a life of who used my talents and abilities to their advantage. Plenty did, family and friends, but their contributions to my happiness and who I am as a person is what I will remember. No one owes me a damn thing more, and I got much better than I always deserved. I’ll do me, it leaves me much happier, content, and after all- Forgiveness is for us, not the one we have to forgive. Forgiveness frees us.
Usually in a movie contract you get a lump sum at the signing. Then there’s a royalty payment around 5 percent of benefits. The company owns the royalties for a period of theme maybe 30 years then it’s pass to the creator and descendants. There’s 4 payments a year. Someone has to pay taxes in this and declare to IRS so checking their tax returns. If not there’s a crime for not reporting income. Etcetc
I’m sorry, I think it’s unbelievable to sue these people. He wasn’t abused he was loved and accepted when he was lost. These ppl used their money to care for him and raised him as their own. Money is the root of all evil. I don’t care what they made off a movie of a wonderful story of ppl with a good heart. It was those ppl helping him reach his goal and living a better life. He is older now and can do things on his own as he been doing. But I believe someone is in his ear! I say tell them ppl thank you for loving him! Thank them for helping u advance and do what they needed to do to get u a better life. I don’t care about what he could Hv gotten! Move on and apologize to this wonderful family for giving u a life! Thanks too them u flourished, u had a hot meal, u felt loved and never lonely or starving. With their money b4 u made any money. Did he not think of how he was b4 these ppl took him in? Maybe he should hv gotten more money, but remember where u came from b4 these ppl put their heart in u. Especially as a black man with a white family doing good b4 they met u! They didn’t need u, u needed them and they treated u as their own.with no I’ll will and no type of abuse. Gv u a difference in life. God! U know how many poor unwanted black kids are out here wishing they had just a little better life? U hv parents not loving their kids or going out their way for their own kids . I say let go and let god.remember the love and dedication these ppl put towards u b4 u made it anywhere.
I think what Michael is upset with is that they did not adopt him. You can adopt anyone even if they are over eighteen so they clearly lied to him and went out of their way with this conservatorship which was not in his best interest and it was just created so he could play at their alma mater and it was a deceitful way to get around the rules because they were sponsors and donated so much money to the university. They did not end the conservatorship or even bother to file reports which you are required to do and they clearly, despite being multimillionaires with access to the best lawyers, did not even make sure he was protected and financially cared for during the movie negotiations!!!! There is no excuse. I also found it strange in the movie despite their enormous wealth that they never helped his mother or other brothers. Is that what Jesus would do? Just be concerned about football at your college? They could of done SO much more EASILY and he is not one of their kids so has no inheritance like the other two. People without means adopt every day and are true heroes. The Touhy adults were not good parents in that sense and why didn’t ALL of the movie profits go to Michael???? They don’t need any of it. They used their money to skirt the rules and mislead a young boy already traumatized and lied to him breaking his heart and didn’t even bother to execute their fiduciary duties THEY paid to set up. That’s what happens when you lie or do unethical things. It will come back to haunt you.
That one movie that represented so much, had to be torn by politics. I don’t believe for just one second that the liberals got into Michael’s head and are stirring him into turning against the few people that helped him at one point of his life – no one is disputing his talent but for him to turn his back to a family that welcomed him when the same system that is encouraging now failed him, is just plain disgusting. The Tuohys don’t need his money nor intended to legally adopt a child they barely knew within the first few years of knowing knowing exactly the legal implications of it. And sadly, Michael and that system are proving them right.
How can a person who was assisted out of a hell of a situation turn around and so ungratefully sue the people that helped you. If it was not for them this young man would not be where he is today. Out of all the avenues available to make money. I see an ungrateful person. I hope he reconsiders and possibly talk to them and work this out.
If a movie is about somebody and you use that person’s name, in the movie and their life story they should get something out of the deal. Even if it is a book and that person name or photo is used they should get something out of that too. It should have been talked over by them and settled among them, this would have never happened, may be they could have made another movie about his life and theirs.
Michael Oher i have a question. Were would you be today without there help. Yes the movie was about you. But im pretty sure you had lawyers right. Didn’t they explained things to you. But from the story they took you in. They feed clothed and gave you shelter. They paid for your schooling tutors etc. They consider you part of the family. And if thats the case what more do you want from this family.
So this guy has ‘only’ made $60/$70 thousand off his non adopted brother… Yet Michael got $0? This guy is going to back his parents and if this is all true that he wasn’t adopted and they pocketed the millions in percentage profits from the movie… I hope they have to pay back every cent with interest!
Both sides are in the wrong if everything on the table is true. I mean the statement saying theybearned millioms on royalties from the film were proven to ve false, if Sean Jr can get those text it is considered blackmail, but on the other hand to have someone sign a conservatorship without thier complete knowledge of what that entails is wrong as well. But the statement Oher makes go back and forth, saying he didnt know it was a conservatorship and sometimes he said he knew, but they said it was similar to an adoption. It just one of those things where it just has to sort itself out. Once the cards are laid out in court, it will open our eyes who were wrong and who is right or even if they are both wrong or right. Curious for results amd hope they all can reconcile.
I dont get how they used him ? are they saying that he was already a rising star and they just hoped on but the dude needed a family, he needed the dynamic to succeed, yes he though he was adopted but in the movie they said legal guardians and they “treated him” like a son so he wont feel excluded, arent they already wealthy i dont think a couple of thousands would have been worth raising a kid who went through hardships . This story is weird but he shouldnt have had the conservatorship this long thats the only bad part of this, once he became an adult and was able to know what he was signing it should have only been him and the $ only goes to him or the contract he knew he signed.
So I’m not sure if I got this correct. This family took this kid in. They fed him. They clothed him. They put him through a great school and helped him. They treated him as a family member when he could have been lost as another great player in the ghetto with no guidance and there never would have been any NFL and this Michael Oer stabs them in the back ? What a POS !!!
I don’t know if Michael really didn’t know he was not adopted (well, it was revealed in the movie by they way, on the restaurant table), but still they took him in their family and made him a family member. A total stranger became a family member. Otherwise, Michael would not have become what he is now. How much money did he make in his career? I absolutely agree he said he was depicted stupid in the movie and he didn’t like it. I would be very upset, too. But, the care, the love, embracing a total stranger in their family was true. Michael might have lost some money, some reputation from the movie, but he became a superstar and made money ordinary people can’t even imagine. I think he is doing absolutely wrong. Would he be able to be a fraction as generous as Touhy in his remaining life ever? I would suggest this. Let Michael Oher decided whether to become Touhy’sh family in the past and doesn’t get a cent from this movie, or he continues to live on the street under drug addicted mother.
I live in Memphis here are the facts ! The Tuohy lady is FEDEX BILLIONAIRE FRED SMITH’S DAUGHTER ! HER HUSBAND WHEN SHE MARRIED HIM = HE ALREADY OWNED over 300 franchised Restaurant’s his net worth is 180-250 million dollars . They were worth this when she first met Oher who was 18 at the time, folks you cannot adopt and 18 yr old . Oher was at best and avg NFL player, his earnings for his entire career was 16 million gross and then 33/13 to the agent federal and local taxes= he is now broke because he was to ignorant to keep the 8 million he had left ! So now this ! Had it not been for these folks he would I never made it to NFL they sent him to schools where he could . The Tuohy’s got just 100k for the movie . He is hoping for a settlement but Tuohy lawyers say no way = good for them .
They should have left him on the street back then, i’m sure he would be doing better today . What ever happen the only thing sure is that a familly saved a kids life and now people are shitting on them for helping that kid that had no futur. So thank you for saving him but it wasn’t enough. You should have done more than saving his life and giving him a bright futur🙄
They never even adopted him. They saw where he was going and had a future ahead of him. They may have been nice and treated him well but it was all for a higher purpose. And from what I see it was for the money. They had him sign a conservatorship in belief it was to adopt him. In the end they never adopted him and took control of all the money. That says enough on its own. If they really cared they should have adopted him for real. Sounds to me it was a money play.
This is modern day slavery!!!!!! Why is this even legal???? I could see if he was handicapped where he needed help but outside of that there is no way this should be legal!!!!!!!! This would be a easy fix. Show him all the bank statement’s and make this right!!!!!!! If you love this man than make his mind at ease by showing him he was not just a way to use him for money.
He really is not the sharpest tool on the shed…. As it was portrayed in This movie….. I’m actually embarrassed for him. Hes obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed. And hes actually biting the hand that fed him. What a joke, I’m just disgusted.. To michael oher you should be ashamed of yourself
If you look at his comments and interviews on this it’s not about MONEY like y’all are making it seem, y’all think he’s doing this for money smh he was lied to, he thought he signed adoption papers but he never was adopted he was uneducated enough to know he signed power of attorney papers. Actually think about that, he THOUGHT those were his real parents until he probably had to provide documents to something and got them and read over it and saw the docs had NOTHING to do with adoption. . .just think about that y’all, they never adopted adopted him and they could’ve LEGALLY became his parents but they didn’t want adoption documents because they didn’t want to deal with the actual financial responsibilities of having another kid, if they passed away he could’ve got paid but instead when he passes away they will get paid. He’s making the right decision by filing that lawsuit and y’all know it. They knew he wasn’t as educated and shorted him of knowledge, it isn’t about money the main thing he’s asking for isn’t money, the main thing he’s doing is making those documents illegitimate which they are no matter if he signed or couldn’t read the fine print the moral constitution still plays a part in this. They were smart enough to know they made him sign power of attorney docs rather than adoption docs.
Omg, there care new stuff coming out, they all made the same about of movie from the film, those people took him in, he had a home, food and even a truck…he gets married and they go through all their money….plus if it wasn’t for this family he would never got to play real football and made a lot of money…he probably would have been in a gang, or dead..it blew his money and now he is claiming all this stuff….he was blackmailing this family…so I hope he loses everything….he already is getting blasted by his friends and others…that tells you a lot
I’m sorry but this just proves that greed destroys all. It’s a movie not a documentary. Movies are embellished for entertainment what’s the big deal. Nobody would know who Michael Oher is if it weren’t for the movie and the family that took care of him. He wants to take away everything they did for him because of money and his ego. It just sounds ungrateful.
He seen this coming?!?! Course he did!!! And why is he seeing anything. You don’t get paid to be a brother do you? Who was he in the movie? Was he a great moving figure other than the illusion of a lil brother? And again, conservatorships are to help the one put in one not the people surrounding the one in a conservatorship. If people couldn’t abuse this then less people would be willing to be conservators if all they really were aloud to do is help the person make day to day decisions about how to spend their own money. People that race to take up these responsibilities largely do so because of what the can get away with financially and then what really gives them away is that it lasts long long loooooong into or past what was agreed if there was a natural agreement with no threats made if they don’t sign. They said they would let him out if that’s what he really wants. The man is a father and almost 40 years old and the conservatorship is long past what was even written. What? It was to end on his 25th birthday? 18-25? He’s almost 40 and he’s a father. One black male stuck in one of these by 2 white people or 4 if you count the adult kids. Get out of her. The feel good movie only helps to cover their butts that their association with the star player was nothing but good and for him.

Losing your interest doesn’t hurt my feelings. I was a big fan of the Blindside movie. And even more so the book. But I remember thinking Oher is going to be a basic cry baby kneegrow, not any different from Caepernick when he gets older. In the book, towards the end he makes disparaging remarks about the people from his kneegrow past who are hitting him up for money. “What do I owe them,” was his basic comment. And he was correct. He owed those kneegrows nothing. But to so boldly saw it. I imagine the bottom line is Oher is broke and wants more from the Touhy’s than they gave him. I hope they cut him a check for $15 mill. Half will go to the federal government in taxes. 30% will go to his attorneys. The remaining 20% will be pissed away in 2 years and he will be flipping burgers like he would have been had the Touhy’s not picked him out of the gutter where they found him and given him a life.
🗣then give back all the royalties they took from that movie deal. The movie deal that does not include Micheal Ohr in any royalties. However, that contract and royalties conveniently includes their two children in. Now that’s how the Touy’s illustrate love. Hollywood knew real story, that’s why they have that seen the movie where they coheres him to sign the contract in the movie😂✅
For everyone saying, he made all this money in the NFL, yes all the checks from the NFL would go to him but he could not legally control it. Whoever is in charge of his conservatorship is who has legal authority and control over his finances. That’s literally the whole point of a conservatorship for someone to control the finances and physical well-being of another adult. I’m assuming they did give him money but he has no idea if they gave him the right amount if they made deals, using his name and likeness behind his back and didn’t pay him for it, all he’s trying to do is end his conservatorship and get a detailed record of all the money that came in and all the money that was spent.
Tuohy’s did nothing wrong took him they paid for tutors the his private school land he went to a university Matthew 20:9 “Friend I do you no wrong. You agreed with me for a de·narʹi·us, did you not?c 14 Take what is yours and go. I want to give to this last one the same as to you. 15 Do I not have the right to do what I want with my own things? Or is your eye envious because I am good?’d 16 In this way, the last ones will be first, and the first ones last.”
I bet it’s true the family didn’t make all that much off the film — we’ve heard many similiar stories about the entertainment industry. No one knew who they were until the movie; even MO would’ve just been another NFL player — maybe die hard NFL fans would’ve known who he was, but he certainly wasn’t a “Tom Brady” or anything. So a production company comes to your family and asks to make a movie about your life story & offers you $200k. ..none of you are famous, & u take the deal excitedly…the movies released, and your family is catapulted into fame, & it wins an oscar — suddenly u realize how much money the movie grossed & u were “ripped off”. The production company takes all the risk on the film though .. lots of times (in fact most of the time), they end up in “the negative” when the film doesn’t do well… films are so $$$ to make, esp. w/a name like “sandra bullock”. So ya, i don’t think they were lying about the $$ they got from the film, but perhaps he didn’t know he wasn’t actually adopted. They will have to prove he really didn’t know, which could be hard.
Michael – don’t just got for a “share” – get ALL of “your” money back. Someone I know, after they saw the movie, started to (inappropriately) joke around “I should adopt a black kid and turn him into a famous soccer player”. This is MORE than just about money – teach people about these issues through all this, right from wrong. My adoptive mother also used to say creepy stuff like “I birthed you” (like it says in this clip) – this is weird behaviour that many adoptive parents display – their boundaries and reality becomes blurred. NO, our real mothers gave birth to us, anything else is just “creepy”. Our real mothers were victims of “the system” – we don’t have to be thankful to any of these creepy “social” parents. Bust the myths.
S j is awesome….. While the whole situation may have not been on the up and up, What is wrong with Michael? He Would have NEVER had reached the point to where he is now….. Without these people, and it’s just simple as that. I truly am disappointed in him…. Maybe he should have stayed home with his crackhead mother
That movie seemed like, and forgive me because it’s harsh, white savior porn. That movie really played up the story that this black kid was stupid and desperate from a broken home and these wonderful white ppl came and gave him opportunity he never had. Which was a lie. This black teen was never slow and was incredibly successful before they met him.
I don’t understand why he didn’t know and why it took him so long to dispute this! BUT, having said that…just the fact that he is 37, has kids and seems competent, AND yet they still have a conservativship on him is crazy and highly suspicious! Why is the purpose of them having it? Other than their personal gain?
I hate to break this to Mr. Oher, & maybe he has figured this out by now? but those PPL never saw him for anything other than their Meal Ticket. They were the worst kind of disgusting, for taking advantage of his heart, AND, his physical skills! But i look at especially these 2 things: 1) which race has generally taken major advantage of the other Race for Centuries & with the full backing of the law? And 2) Who’s banks is all that $$ currently in? Because if you’re the ones with the $$ bags in your hands, its a pretty good hat trick, to even find a free finger to point at another while insisting that you are their Victim!?!
Leigh Ann fails to correct Stephanopoulos when he refers to Michael as her adopted son and she goes on to mention her “three children.” Her webstite still refers to him in two places as her “adopted son.” Nah, Leigh Ann, if he were adopted he would have the same legal rights to inheritance as your two actual children, unless you cut Michael out of your will, of course. But no need to do that, since Michael never had any legal rights as “family member.” Only you had rights over your ward–a one way street. Totally illegal under Tennessee law to impose a conservatorship on an adult who has no mental or physical disability. Can’t wait to hear more about how they pulled that off.
THIS REMINDS ME OF THE STORY OF THE GOOD SAMARITAN. THE TOUHYS DID SOMETHING NOT EVEN BIGTIME PREACHER DO. THEY REACHED OUT AND HELPED SOMEONE WHO WAS HOPELESS. THIS STORY BRINGS ME TO TEARS EVERYTIME I WATCH IT. I KNOW NOW WHAT JESUS MEANT WHEN HE SAID WE MUST USE OUR WEALTH TO HELP OTHERS. GOD BLESS THE TOUHYS, MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU.
As a black male, I kind of related to the people who felt they’ve seen enough of the “white savior” movie. However, that’s what it is! So what! I’m more happy that this loving family opened their doors and their hearts and helped to save this man’s life. I love this story and I love the family. They’re all very special people that all can learn from.
Amazing story and very touchable. These type of stories are everywhere, we might hear some and might not hear the others but for sure they are lots of people who are like this. And oh yes sometimes meeting one person can change your whole life to either bad or good. And Micheal deserves to have a good life and I am happy she turned around to the right person and changed his life and instead of staying homless ending up in streets, now he has a warm home with a family that loved him not for money (coz he had nothing) but for him!!
This doesn’t seem to be a story of a family taking in a kid just out of the goodness of their heart, it seems it was more a story of an Ole Miss booster taking in a top recruit for his senior year to get him to Ole Miss. I ask myself if they would have taken him in if he had 0 athletic talent and I honestly don’t think they would have.
Michael said the movie was a lie when it came out and I never trusted the Tuohys. They’re sitting there patting themselves on the back when Michael was already doing good in school, was an All American high school player. All Michael need was a place to sleep. He couch surfed. He would’ve made it without these predators.
Thank God for this family from embracing encouraging nurturing and give him stability and guidance I truly thank God for that congratulations Michael you’re very wonderful person even though your mother’s passed is just like that her past don’t lose sight of the fact that that’s your biological mother no matter how things may seem you might say oh she wasn’t there for me she didn’t bother but God puts people in your life for a reason you’re blessed to have two mothers your biological mother and the mother that gave you a new beginning Michael give your mother a new beginning God is still in the blessing business and he’s going to repair the damaged and heal the broken hearted congratulations once again your inspiration to a lot of people
Lol, turns out “nobody would believe it, if it wasn’t true.” Welp… it wasn’t true… Micheal was an elite football player who had scouts following him around telling this family he had massive potential before he was adopted by this family. They did a good thing, I give them credit. But you know they don’t need credit… cuz they got all that cash boyyy 💰 💵.
What a family!!! I can say that Michael was lucky, but that same luck goes for the Tuohy too, not for the mony, or a roof, but yes, the love of a good son and goos parents. Those people are incredible, It’s a family that millions of other families just wish to have that love. Even Sandra Bullock cried in the oscars 2010, i also cried perusal The Blind Side!! I’m just really happy for the whole family, they really deserve it.
No, I wasn’t raised this way. It’s a miracle I found Jesus with how badly religion(s) and my parents spiritually abused me for 44 years. I found a Higher Power via Alcoholics Anonymous, started reading the Bible for myself and met God and accepted Jesus in my sinful place. The two most important books I read to unlearn what I was taught were “The Road Less Traveled” by M. Scott Peck and “Mere Christianity” by C. S. Lewis. I’ve been awakened for seventeen years! Thank you Jesus.
The movie was amazing and inspirational. But it is the families motto from Corinthians that has turned my life around and I am looking at christianity for a path. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Amen
🤑6:00 Oh yeah you thought Michael was sent to you alright, you most have thought you won the lottery! The whole thing is a joke now, especially with the title, because clearly Michael was so blind he couldn’t see the side business the Tuohy’s were running. IMAO if they can do this then really a lot of taboo things that came in the movie is the real reality of what the family really thought of Michael.
And I choose to believe the truth of the Bible because it says God’s Word is truth, and I spent 44 years being led astray from abusive people who told me they were speaking what was true. We all have a story to tell. I believe there is a reason to believe such a God exists because His word says there will be a judgment day–a day of wrath–and being the one on the side of what you speak of (physical, emotional, and verbal abuse), I find comfort in a just and loving God who will settle things.
I’m not a religious person. I don’t believe in it. But Leigh Anne and Sean are my role models in life. I’ve been pretty lucky in life. My life wasn’t raised around drug addicts. I wasn’t in a bad area growing up. I can’t IMAGINE the hardships Michael went through ( mind you my life wasn’t EASY. Just not as bad as his) and there’s Leigh Anne. “Turn around” and those two words changed that boys life. They are beautiful people honestly and my love for them and their family is endless. They are absolute angels. I know the movie itself has its downsides ( on michaels side in his own opinion) but it’s still my go to movie and book❤️
I can’t stand these people who notice their financial benefit. Do you really think the Tuohy’s set out with that goal?! Who knew that this story would be made into a movie? Who knew that these people would be asked to do talk shows and things?! The Tuohy’s are good people, they helped this boy out of the goodness of their heart! More people need to follow their example…
This is a real true Christian family. Not a phony like most we see these days. They don’t do the the talk they do the walk. And they love Michael as if he was their blood. I am sure he feels the same about them. After all he could be somewhere else if it was not for them. Like in prison or still homeless on the streets. For sure the World needs more people like this family.
@KaptKan1 Plenty. I devout my time to ending racism by letting people know of past and present injustices. I cannot afford to give to charity at the moment, but I support countless charities nonetheless through activism. All the Tuohy family did was take in Michael Oher and sell their charitable act for more money they were already making. It jsut so happens that Leigh Ann was already an interior decorator for Extreme Home Makeover before a movie was made, & Michael Lewis is a family friend.
My New King James Version states, “Psalm 116:11 I said in my haste, “All men are liars.” Hence, I would say I would be leery about believing what you wrote. Although, it’s neat that you journal. Finding God takes heart knowledge–not head knowledge– as you said I was lacking. Jesus said (Amp) Luke 10:21 …that You have concealed these things (relating to salvation) from the wise and understanding and learned, and revealed them to babes (the childish, unskilled, and untaught). I’m a babe! 🙂
@KaptKan1 Also, it says in the Bible that those with wealth should give back to their community. Just because I don’t have more money than God like the Tuohys doesn’t mean that they should be less charitable just because they horde. Also, just because someone has lots of money doesn’t make them better than me in any way, shape, or form. It just means that they have more money. America is not an oligarchy.
The only family in the word who hasnt been corrupted by money. Considering the fact that they were extremely rich. Their humanity stayed strong in their hearts. Take notes niggas, next person who walks pass you can change your life. Just make sure nigga dont carry guns or drugs. Cause the change ull have is you dead XD.
How about you let the family believe in what ever they want to believe in. They aren’t hurting anyone and did an amazing thing for a kid that they could have easily turned their backs on. Please don’t make this comment section into some debate. They believe in God and as long as that isn’t hurting you or anyone you love, it shouldn’t matter to you.
micheal was sent to this family. micheal realize this and the farther nit the mpm think she was his savior. not true lady. Micheal lnew he was to ne great,he knew from inside,he knew this. He speak truthfully about his situation and life without wasting his time on untures. He is super focus and awares of thing. The interveiw ia constant trying to get him yo say bad thing about his mother. Why ? what really happened. why did yhe movie mention he play football before the family met him. The father mention in interveiw that he told his wife about this child. It seem like they was looking for a savior for them selves.Listen to micheal in an interveiw he states he knew he was not going be on street.micheal knew he was talent and would be very sucessful. the husband knew this too. The wife had the talent and the back up to get what she wanted. she is gifted influencing people. how was they able to adopt this teenager. why didn,t they help the sisters. Why in the interveiws they act as if they are talking about a child instead a grown man. somthing wrong in this family.micheal is a great person always has beem with or without the so call adopted family. did he get money from the money, who handling his finance. the movie was made more about the mother than the football player, micheal. He know this. The writers of the movie was clever and deceiving at the same time. watch the movie again, you see it for what it is. Micheal is a black man from tennesse went college in mississippi yet where is the picture of him with blacks?
Michael was definitely not sent to you. You guys decided to stop, get out of the car, talk to him, take him home, and then ultimately adopt him. Those were all decisions you guys made, take credit for them. Don’t say dumb shit like he was sent to us. No one was sent anywhere, that’s what makes this a cool story.
I Loved the Movie 📽! I Wanna know the truth! Also worth mentioning, IMHO,…. Seriously, Where would Michael Oher life have ended up if they Didn’t Pick him up that night? Intervene/ Take him in and provide him with all those resources!? Hey, I’m just saying! Again, On the intelligence thing, we have a responsibility to know Right. He did have a tutor, Ms. Sue Right? Again, If you understand the lesson(s) why would you need a Tutor In Highshool and College? WAS THAT TRUE?, Give me the 4-1-1!!? Again, I’m not Bashing the Brotha At All, I’m looking at it from a Overrall Not one side over the other Prospective. Also, I take issue with the Timing⏰ of this all This?! 🤔 All these years don transpired! Even in his book📔 he stated he knew they were his “Conservators” back in 2011 believe?? See article ⬇️ (GO TO @1:40 INTO THIS article) youtu.be/O42pxP3qVnc We gotta find out the true! That’s My 2 💰’s
My journal said “let us not be fooled into believing in supernatural things.” then it goes on to say “let false holy books not deceive us, for religions like christianity and islam are complete jokes.” I’m gonna bury this book in my backyard, and hopefully someone will dig it up in 100 years and consider it some kind of ultimate truth lol.
you should go to NA, where they don’t force jesus on you, and instead they refer to a higher power. For most people, that higher power is the power of others believing in you, a support group, the program itself, etc. Its nothing supernatural. Sounds like you took that ball and ran with it all the way to the bible sylvie
