📹 Prince Edward addresses royal rift with Harry and Meghan
Prince Edward, Queen Elizabeth’s youngest child, speaks to CNN on what would have been the 100th birthday of his father Prince …
The Earl and Countess of Wessex may have started their married life as members of the “firm” with a bit of difficulties but that made them strong, admirable and brilliant at present in their own ways. People stumbled and fell in the past but that’s part of learning and becoming into better personas. I appreciate them for doing their duties very well under the radar, their patronages and advocacies are significant and relatable and they are always present to help and care for Her Majesty, the Queen. It’s lovely that they’ll be celebrating their 23rd Wedding Anniversary on the 19th of June this year🥂🍾
I love a couple that only come out into the limelight when doing their duties but then live a private life, not getting themselves into the headlines 10 times a day about how wonderful they are, not about who they are suing this week, not trying to stop free speech, not trying to cause a divide between races, not lying about who said what, we can actually see Sophie & Edwards gorgeous children, Sophie’s not trying to break the internet & become the most famous “it” on the planet as well as the biggest humanitarian & standing up for women’s rights & giving them a voice, which is hilarious since a certain someone doesn’t draw breath or let anyone else get a word in…..no the last 2, especially women’s rights all over the world in every country 1st or developing, white, black, brown, pink, purple or green with Blue polka dots, Sophie was doing along time before someone decided she needed to do that to be noticed, which she made on & speech & hasn’t done sweet F A since. Also Sophie is down to earth, she seems like someone like Anne & Zara that u wouldn’t wanna cross & i think the filthy death stare at the Commonwealth Service shows exactly how Sophie feels herself but also feels about how a certain spoilt missy upset her family….i could see Sophie swinging fists along with Zara lol
Prince Edward is the answer for longevity for the monarch. The monarch is religious I think the crown should skip all the queens divorced children and flow to Edward. It only make’s sense. That way the crown (head of the church) flows to riotous royal. And avoids divorce and broken homes. That would be the most ethical and biblical thing in today’s society. I do believe as it stands currently we are witnessing the end of the British monarchy. Shameful! Just a disgrace. Really people are going to address Charles and Camilla your royal majesty and highness and sir and mame fiddlesticks that makes me sick. And really if you think about it what’s England without a monarch. Not much at all they should put all their eggs on PRINCE EDWARD, just saying! They say the crown always finds its way to the correct person. I think that would and should be prince Edward or bye bye British monarchy. God bless the queen!
The Guardian 2001 The Earl and Countess of Wessex, furious over scrutiny of their finances, have boycotted public duties for the rest of the year. The latest Court Circular, the official diary of the royal family, shows no confirmed engagement for the controversial youngest son of the Queen and his wife between 1 September and the end of 2001. Prince Edward and the countess receive £141,000 a year from the public purse. Their apparent reluctance to carry out royal duties will reopen controversy over the role of the younger royals.
Oh my goodness, does the narrator of these articles ever give up on mispronouncing words? This time, the first error occurs at 1:29 in which she refers to “rows” between the couple. The problem is that the narrator pronounces it “rose” almost like “they came to blows.” The correct pronunciation is “rowse” to rhyme with “cows.”
I just like how he just stood silently on the background, and step up when asked. He and his family are winning my heart. Even his comments about the Harry and Megan issue. The way he even clarified which royal family rift the interviewer is referring to, he is adorable. He is like telling the interviewer, we have a huge family, be specific 😂
Met Prince Edward, strolling through Yarra park in melbourne during the commonwealth games prior to the opening ceremony. Just him and his bodyguard. No VIP entrance, no entourage, no one noticed him. Was lovely to my wife and I as we managed to chat for maybe 30 seconds. Moment in time I’ll always be grateful of.
Very well said and diplomatic from Prince Edward who until recently we haven’t heard much from. Good on him. Love Sophie Wessex also. I think she is a great help to the Queen. This couple had minor issues with the family years ago but managed to resolve them privately and without any criticism of the family.
The only thing we ever hear about Edward is his dreadful faux pas with the Royal It’s a Knockout. Well it’s taken a long time but he has definitely redeemed himself with this lovely interview. I always liked Edward and am very pleased to see he is finally being given a more important role in what the Duke of Edinburgh fondly referred to as ‘the Firm’. Respectful interviewer too who knew when not to push the point.
I’ve always been fond of Prince Edward, who was born on the same day as my brother….I think he favours his grandfather George VI more than any of his siblings but also, I’ve always thought he looks a lot like Art Garfunkle without the curly hair……At any rate, I think he’s delightful, very honest and classy in his answers to the questions. A real sweetheart.
Prince Edward looks so much like his mother. A wise choice to do an interview on behalf of the family. Excellent communicator, cautious, thoughtful but clear message – There was no “we love harry and Meghan kiss kiss kiss family Kumbaya” at all. Which is honest. He wishes them well, basically see you later, in the nicest way.
Your Royal Highness, Prince Edward, sorry you had to endure this interview as part of your responsibilities as a member of a royal family. However, I want you to know I believe you did an excellent and fabulous job in this interview! Your family and nation should be proud of you!!! I hope people listened to what you actually said versus what they wanted to hear you say. Thank you for making sacrifices and showing in this interview how human beings should behave with one another.
Of all the negatives that one may say about the Royal family in and amongst all the scandals and upheavals then Prince Edward certainly comes across as a rather down to earth chap that nobody can really say a bad word about, the bloke is sound! A really nice charming fella by humble distinction who doesn’t take himself too seriously which is always a positive trait!
Prince Edward you are the best public speaker after Her Majesty in the Royal Family; articulate confident at ease with yourself and coherent without script. Wow. DO MORE!!!!! Massive respect. Damn shame you or Anne weren’t first in line. Hey ho. And Lady Louise Windsor was the most impressive Royal in the PP doc. So charming sweet and sincere. Wanting to make PP proud was a lovely thing to say. A lovely warm family.
Although I’m trying not to read too much into what Prince Edward said; I found it interesting regarding H & M he said “great news about the baby, hopefully they’ll be happy about that”. This implies they’re not happy about much… Many of us think it but to hear someone from the RF say it is telling! I just hope H & M are DONE attacking the RF and the country and get on with it… I loved the very human part of him admitting he’d forgotten what was said by the next day 😂. Anyone over 50 can relate to that! 😉.
Yes I really enjoyed this interview with Prince Edward. What a lovely gentleman. He really made me laugh. And he’s right..a family is a family is a family is a family and will always be “family”. So we should not judge too harshly anything. I hope that the family will all mend their relationships soon.. Wishing them the best.
Always liked Edward. He had a hard time growing up as he was so different from the rest of his siblings as he was much more creative, not so sporty and didn’t like military life – for the longest time ppl thought he was gay, he wasn’t so csn you imagine how difficult it was for him. And then he met his wife Sophie and they had two lovely children and have ended up being the longest marriage save for the Queen. I do like how he didn’t get defensive, he was gracious any he responded as one wld normally to anyone. That is the way to respond without giving anything away 🙂
Very underrated is Prince Edward…..he’s always walked in the shadows of his siblings and got on with it! Supports many charities and his lovely wife and children are a ‘asset to our Royal family…… Very down to earth…hasn’t got that silver spoon in his mouth either! He will take on the role of his grandfather Duke of Edinburgh, and will do his best to carry on his role with pride and dignity.
Prince Edward, I am an American but I love the RF. Prince Philip was one of a kind – we will never see the likes of him again. So glad to see you and your beautiful wife and children supporting the most gracious, noble woman in the world. Please convey this most heartfelt message to Her Majesty The Queen. Love and Blessings to you and the entire RF. Praying for you all. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!
I’m not the biggest RF fam but Edward and Sophie have always seemed like a genuine and humble couple. They’ve also raised their children, Lady Louise and James Viscount Seven extremely well. The other family who I don’t mind was Anne and her two children, her declining their Prince/Princess or any titles, so they could grow up more normal and away from the spotlight which shaped them into a nice pair of adults
Awwww Edward seems so lovely. lucky wife bet he treats her extremely well. Sad that Markle tries to bring them down and made poor Harry get on board i cannot believe the gall of that woman. They embraced her and she spit on them. Prince Charles walked her down tbe aisle! He didn’t have to do that. What more did she possibly want?? I’m an American and just ashamed that Markle is an American and did what she did.
👩💻Wowzas! Prince Edward!! My favorite!!! He will make a very excellent Senior Royal with wife Sophie by his side. I have kept my eye on them since their marriage and their beautiful children. When things get hot and difficult the dross burns away and you are left with real solid gold. All impurities by trial and fire evaporates and what is left is, Prince Edward. I am so excited to see him grow in stature by his service to the Crown & Country. Much love and peace; from an American watcher.🇬🇧🇺🇲🙋♀️🪔🌠🖖🐞🔆🔆🔆🥰 The Earl of Wessex; a diamond in the rough. !!!>>>HOOAH<<
Prince Edward and I are the same age. I recall, when I was 12 and living in Australia, I sent him a letter asking him to be a pen-pal. Later when I was 21, I worked at Ruben’s Hotel in Buckingham Palace Road, opposite the Royal Mews, I considered applying for a job as his valet. (without having any experience). I have long admired him and always thought that we would have been terrific friends. Alas, it was never to be.
I like the fact Prince Edward & the Countess of Wessex chose more informal titles for their children. Lady Louise Windsor & James Viscount Severn, I believe these titles were selected because they were more befitting titles for the children of an Earl. They could have had the titles Prince & Princess.
Wow! What a well-handled interview. If this was William talking it would have been such headline news, and it’s a shame it wasn’t as he came across so well. Royal Family need to let him be seen doing more talking and meeting people. Impressed how he immediately asked if it was Meghan and Harry without pusys-footing around the issue. He remembered to congratulate them on the baby, and used general phrases – “it’s difficult for everyone” – to answer without divulging anything specific. I think he comes across as the most likeable of the Royals.
I’m really sorry, but Prince Edward’s completely ironic and even cynical laugh, when the CNN journalist spoke about Prince Harry and Meghan speaks volumes. In fact he explained and comprove all about the Wessex couple ‘s lack of support for the Dukes of Sussex, and the eagerness the Sussex couple had enjoyed seeing Prince Harry removed from the British Royal Family, not least because the Wessex have the opportunity to occupy the place that was destined, in its own right to Prince Harry . Very sad . We can really conclude that the devastating smear campaign mounted in the British Media, in U.K., against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, without any visible valid reason that justified it, had a clear aim, and with commitment and will of some members of the British Royal Family, except the Queen Elizabeth II, to diminish and destroy the public image of Prince Harry and Meghan to forced them to abandon the British Royal Work. An atitude totally unacceptable and inappropriate for Good Families, with Democratic Values, and which purpose and the reason of their existence ( Monarchy’s Families who rules a Country) is to give good examples for their populations and Country.
Thank you for your humility Prince Edward. My daughter received her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. It is a marvellous award. Very grateful to your Father for starting it and for you carrying it on. My condolences to you and your wife and 2 beautiful children, at the loss of both your parents. I wish your family only the very best.
This is what you call Royalty – Prince Edward❤️that hearty laugh! When He said you mean Harry & Meghan” lol that laugh says it all like a subtle way to say “you mean those two fools” 🤣🤣 …. Prince Edward made a solid point about FAMILY, And he’s honest to say that Meghan & Harry made it difficult for everyone – can’t lie or cover it up
He said “the baby”, he can’t bring himself to refer to the baby as Lillibet because I think to him, that name is what he has always associated with his mother. It’s just odd to say the name publicly when it’s a private name for the most respected member of UK and his family. Now the queen’s private name will be used by Haz and his PR team. 🙄 to me, it feels disrespectful to call well respected public figures Haz or Lilibet. His wife calls him Haz in a public tv show… 😵
If someone could convincingly explain to me why a group of people should be privileged above all others because of what…because they were born into a royal family? And what about the poor Yemeni born into a family in Yemen…! No…no…no! No one should have this privilege bestowed upon them…they should do like most other people on earth…they should earn it! So obviously, I’d say down with any type of royalty or privilege!
It’s difficult indeed. They’ve all been there. However non of them was subjected to persistent verbal and both subtle and open racial abuse for 4 years. Edward’s problem was self inflicted when he fell victim of scandalous stings unlike Harry and Meghan whose only problem is the skin color of his wife.
