Kidada Jones, daughter of producer Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton, was romantically involved with rapper Tupac Shakur for months prior to his traumatic death on September 7, 1996. The two were engaged and living together at the time of his death. Kidada was among the last people to speak with Tupac just moments before his death.
Kidada was raised in Bel Air, where her home was frequented by celebrities like Michael Jackson and Kareem Abdul. Her father, Quincy Jones, was famously protective of his daughter and reportedly disapproved of her relationship with Tupac. Jones, who was a close friend of Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, was concerned about Tupac’s reputation as a controversial figure in the music industry and feared for Kidada’s safety and well-being.
The Tupac biopic All Eyez on Me has cast Kidada Jones as the character. She was initially not to speak with Tupac because he dissed her father, Quincy Jones, for being with white women (her mother was a white woman). They met again soon after and Tupac apologized. Kidada Jones and Tupac Shakur were engaged to be married at the time of his death.
In conclusion, Kidada Jones and Tupac Shakur’s romance was a significant aspect of their lives, and their relationship was a source of anger and frustration for both parties.

📹 The Untold Truth About Kidada Jones: an unsung IT Girl
… producer quincy jones and quincy’s daughter cadada nearly every magazine wants michael on its cover but quincy says it took …
This is crazy Never knew she was at The Vibe party But I know that Quincy Jones her father is the one who invited puff and biggie there … So I thinks This party was his and She said for 8 or 9-month she could not our did not go out is definitely not true because Biggie died 6 month after pac and he died that dayy .. so she is not clear !
Well, if Pac really wanted to marry her, he would’ve done so before he died. He knew death was fastly approaching. I don’t think he was engaged to her at all. Another thing; if Pac was so in love with Kidada, why in the hell did he spend the night with his ex wife Keisha Shakur, a couple of nights before he was shot in Vegas?? Keisha also claimed that Pac told her they would try their marriage again after he straightened some things in his life out. Kidada never HAD A 💍 ON WHILE PAC WAS ALIVE NOR AFTER HIS DEATH. Keisha Shakur said that Pac told her that he was USING Kidada for her father’s connections. The end. RIP PAC 🙏
I think it’s nobodies business if she covered her tat but also I couldn’t imagine haveing a 24-7 constant reminder of the most horrible loss any one can imagine wheather they were together 3months or 3 years that wouldn’t change the love she probably had for Tupac and covering a tattoo maybe was for her own sanity and not because she stopped caring!
she was at a huge party which also happened to be attended by Puffy, Biggie and Bad Boy. where is the footage of her actually with them? DJ Quik was at the same party. was he partying with Puffy too? all i see is a clip of Puffy dancing with a group of people and another of Kidada Jones dancing by herself throwing up the war sign most likely in memory of 2Pac. i dont trust a word out of Reggie Wrights mouth either. The head of security that let them roll up and shoot 2pac that night. maybe she blamed him for what happened that night and that was his way of getting back at her. In regards the tattoo, she moved on and found someone else after years past and she is entitled to do that.
I feel it’s her business but if he’s the love of your life like you say he is,why would you want to cover the tattoo? Even if you’re now husband felt a way about it and I believe that’s why she got it covered, why would you not keep it even just as a memorial? That’s not love. He was someone well known at the time and she felt extra comfortable being with him but out of sight out of mind. He’s unforgettable. We can never forget him so,her being in a relationship with him,I know she will never forget him. The tattoo probably embarrassed her husband to his peoples.
It’s common for women to play up their relationship with a man after his death for sympathy, really disgusting. I was friends with a lot of bikers through my ex and a lot of them would die in the summer. Women would come out the wood works deciding to announce their “relationship” or “engagement” after their death. People are so weird and have no respect for the dead. Shame on Kidada.
I think she and her dad along with Puffy who is very close to QUINCY, had something to do with PAC’s demise. They all had a grudge with him and this woman according to LL Cool J, who she dated before PAC, was into some strange “spiritual” practices. There are a few rumours about many celebs and their bizarre rituals etc. Not only that her so called best friend Aaliyah died under questionable circumstances, remember Aaliyah was moving with Jay-Z and Dame who are known to be dodgy characters … Aaliyah wasn’t doing something somebody wanted her to do and some how this Kidada is in the mix . Yet again.
Okay imma say this, I use to be on the edge about kidada as well, but think logically y’all, y’all trash this girl so much, without knowing much about her, her father owns vibe, she is tend to attend a party her father is throwing, plus she is also a host, why should she feel uncomfortable in her home, because puffy and biggie was there. It not like she got out of bed and said “ooo puffy and big gon be at vibe let me attend as well”, and secondly her TATTOO, she had that tattoo for years, if she was finally ready to let go and move on, she had the right to. None of us truly know the nature of they relationship only pac and her, until she speaks for herself don’t judge her.
LIFE GOES ON FOR SOME…..IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT…I THINK LOVE WAS IN THE AIR! WE WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN FOR PAC AND KIDADA…JUST IMAGINE IF THEY HAD KIDS…THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN MUSICAL GENIUS,WITH THAT PEDIGREE,BLOODLINE AND GUIDANCE…. YOUNG HEARTS BE FREE….JUST THINK ABOUT THAT!…. NOT AFRAID OR ASHAME TO SAY IT!!!I KNOW FOR ME…I HAVE LOVED MANY WOMEN…YES,LOVED! ITS A BEAUTIFUL AND POWERFUL THING…..
She was in the backseat of that bmw which was supposed to be bulletproof so the only way u could get him is u had to shoot him in the head. So it makes sense how people came across that last photo of Pac inside the car turned around looking at the camera from behind him because someone else was in that car which was Kidada.
Tupac was real through and through. He would not waste time with someone if he didn’t love her. He most definitely loved her. I watched a interview he said straight up he wanted to marry her and have a family, he wanted to take his time making the relationship the best he’s had, not rush anything! Tupac didn’t mess around 🤷 he was a real dude
Kidada Replaced The Tattoo With A Rose And A Poem Meaning When Both Were Together He Would Send Her A Rose And A Hand Written Poem Every Day In His Own Words Still On Her Arm Now It Took Her A Long Time Before She Removed His Face She Supposed 2 Go On With Her Life Pac Not Here For Her Love Anymore She Got Married Few Years After Pac Death But It Didn’t Work Out Leave The Woman Alone I’m Sure Pac Wouldn’t Want Her 2 Be Alone Back Then Big And Puff Had A Party At Her Daddy Vibe Event He Own Vibe Magazine So That’s Why She Was There Pac Had The Name Dada On His Shoulder That’s Kidada Nick Name
I have a lot of respect for Kidada because she’s not out here doing interviews about Aaliyah and her personal life unlike Dame Dash and her uncle Barry Hankerson. When that Surviving RKelly documentary came out and his trial Dame and Aaliyah’s uncle was out here doing interviews running their mouth. I could tell that Kidada was a good friend to Aaliyah and she cherish their friendship. I give her props for keeping quiet and staying out the spot light and just living her life in private now.
You should do Christina Milian next, she was an IT girl of the early 2000s. The last time I’ve seen Kidada was when she in the On The Run trailer for Beyoncé and Jay Z tour. While she had an amazing life then most, I can’t imagine losing loved ones back to back the way she did. It’s also about time someone did a article on her. Thank you black femininity.
i so admired Kidada, Aaliyah and Bijou as a squad in the early 2000’s. i didn’t know that much about them, but i loved how attractive and stylish they were. They just looked so good together. i never forgot that Vibe magazine spread which featured the three of them and a fourth girl who i could never remember.
I find Rashida quite naive, possibly disingenuous about her passing. That girl has been a indie cinema darling for 2 decades, She played white, in each role including when She was involved in the financing and producing of the movie. Her character’s parents were systematically white. To the point that journalist on the Oscar red carpet telling her She looked healthy because She was tanned and Rashida had to correct her. Even then She said She was “ethnic”, whatever TF that means. Comparatively Megan Markhle, in Suits, was a nobody then, fought hard with the production and network to include her character being a biracial black women. Her dad is notorious misogynoirist in the industry, that’s what Tupac had an issue with.
This is so fascinating, I didn’t know about the different experiences she and Rashida had. It’s almost crazy how Rashida is on the screen, this perfect but “real” girl next door yet she grew up so fancy. I love that Kidada was friends with Aaliyah! I thought she looked like Aaliyah a bit and had that same laid back, confident vibe. Another amazing article essay, thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️🤟🏼
At first I was hesitant to click the vid but I am so happy I did.. this woman made a impact in three iconic people lives before their death and shifted the fashion industry. Crazy to know I’ve never heard of her back story till today because I only recognized her from being the eye candy with Tupac. 💜
It’s so interesting to see the drastic difference from the 90/00 to the 2010s && how celebrities looked before the boom of extensive plastic surgery. Kidada was just a beautiful girl w/a great sense of fashion. In today’s world she would have needed to have a nose job, fillers, Botox, BBL, Boob implants … just to pull a modem day rapper of fame like Tupac & LL Cool J. That’s a damn shame 😞 I’m sorry for this generation.
I always wanted to know more about her relationship with Aaliyah. Inlove with the respect that she always kept for Aaliyah. I wonder what boundaries were crossed & why her chaperoning, the ICONIC Aaliyah, was a “nightmare”. Always loved them together. It was always said that Kidada was this big, bad influence on Aaliyah. Who knows but may Sweet Aaliyah, rest in heavenly peace. ❤️
Thank you for making this article showcasing her contribution to the culture cause before this all I knew was that she was with pac and who her dad was this was really really good andi didn’t even know she and Aaliyah was so close and for her to get a style icon like The King of Pop MJ to wear stuff that he had nothing to do with is genius 👏👏👏👏
When I say I Still have those VIBES… If there is any magazine I miss.. It’s Vibe… Kidada is definitely the original Lori Harvey… I think you’re being nice and respectful because the stories of these relationships being on break isn’t what others say.. But it is what it is… She is definitely the blueprint of an IT girl for those who have come after her.
Thank you for making a positive article about Kidada. Seems like a lot Youtubers focus on the negative hearsays about her. I feel like a lot of Tupac friends who did interviews about her hated her because they didn’t understand her & felt that her & Tupac were an odd couple. People tend to hate what they don’t understand or see as different and that’s sad.
I love ❤️ Kidada! She has such wonderful style! I remember the magazine she styled for Michael Jackson! I bought the magazine because I was and still a big fan of Michael Jackson! She did a wonderful job styling him! I’m a Fashionista myself and I love her 90’s looks! Thanks for the article! I truly loved it! Bye for now!
Kidada is true definition of using her last name to UP herself. She had amazing opportunities, met awesome ppl, dated fine men, styled and damn near related to michal fkn Jackson lmao 🤣! But I will say maybe because of her upbringing, she prob felt lonely a lot and turned to those spiritual people as a way to vent. Her dad was always busy, her mom was there when she needed her most which I loved, and her and her sis couldn’t relate as much cause of the racial divide within the moms side of the family. I’m sure she had good intentions.
Great great article girl!! 🔥I would love to see more black IT girls from the 90’s to now if possible. I appreciate kidada. It was nice to “get to know her” a bit since I’ve never really heard of her before or knew what she did besides being associated with Aaliyah and 2pac.. I appreciate her loyalty on not trying to make money off of doing interviews and talking to every interviewer about Aaliyah and pac.
Kidada was so pretty. Its werid how times are still the same. Its sad how she went through colorism when she was little especially by her own family members. If I was her mother I would of called out my own parents about it and wouldn’t let my parents see their grandkids anymore🤷🏾♀️. Her and sister should both be treated equally by both grandparents. But anyway she was dating everyone in the 90s 😆 🤣 but to me something is off with her vibe… I cant pinpoint it… Edit: I need a friend like Aaliyah 🥺😭❤ that was friendship goals that they had.
Thank you so much for doing this. It is so much I learned about Kidada in this article. She was always marching to her own beat. Everyone was wearing Tommy Hilfiger in the 90s in the streets in all the music articles. Thanks for clearing up the rumor about the brand that wasn’t true. She got to be around major music giants and influential people like Michael Jackson. I enjoyed this so much. Keep up the excellent through research on your topics.
Love love love… So positive an beautiful. My son is called Koda. Tupac is my favorite brother from another mother I Neva met. But I loved the story. Aliyah was us an always will be beautiful as rishida, kidada aliyah and pack. Honestly iv a huge smile and going threw some ATM. Much love respect. I’d love Nicki Minaj story.IM PART OF THE NEW FAM . I subbed
Very interesting story, used to watch her mom on her tv show before her marriage to Quincy… learned a lot about KJ today didn’t know she had a sister .. As far as schooling goes some kids are just not intellectual but more artistic as was my daughter… new sub because of this article which I plan on perusal again . It’s crazy how racism permeates in Evan the highest levels of income brackets, which is another reason it is so hard to defeat this stuff is in the very hearts and minds of certain people.!
I had never heard of her until now. So she is the one who brought the street look to Thommy Hilfiger. Wow, never knew that. What a creative eye she had. She basically helped his company grow and become what it is today. I hope he gave her stock options in his company. Money is nice, but stock is better.
thank you so much. I’m a huge fan of Aaliyah and by extension her friendship with Aaliyah but i never realised she was the pioneer of Tommy Hilfiger tapping into the “urban” market and the success of it. the tommy Hilfiger brand has completely erased her from their history. any mention of that era in TH history they always make it seem as Tommy himself was the innovator behind it all. again thanks for this.
The only reason she was an ‘IT’ girl was because of her father. Period. She didn’t even make it in school and yes she had an eye for fashion but so did many others her age. She got her foot in the door at age 19 and was put in an impressionable position at her father’s magazine ‘Vibe’ so what do you expect would happen? She doesn’t impress me she was just born under the right parents and in the industry at the right time (launching of Tom. Hil.) Give me an IT girl who didn’t have handouts please.
I’m gonna keep it 💯I’m 49 yrs old so I was around in the 90s at the peak of Tupac and Aaliyah and this was before the internet this girl was not a “it girl” in the form of today’s so called “socialites”. People are fascinated with her cause she was with Tupac and friends with Aaliyah. Before Lori Harvey it was Jada Pinkett not Kadida Jones!
It’s absolutely baffling to me that people will feel sympathetic to those who come from quite honestly a life of luxury saying the deaths they experience at early age or the troubles they have gone through make them endearing but look past people in their community people a few miles away that have gone through and continue to go through much much worse and have nothing positive to say will call those people out of their names but glorify people who were and always be rich famous and indifferent to you as a person regardless how you feel about them it absolutely amazes me lol black people in particular
First off: Tupac and Kidada met Feb 1996. Secondly: There’s absolutely no proof that he ever proposed to her, she never had a ring. Thirdly: Tupac and Keisha Morris Shakur were still sleeping together, spending time and saying I love yous and he was financially providing for her. According to Keisha, Tupac said he was only USING KIDADA for Quincy’s connections. He spent the night with Keisha Shakur two nights before he was shot in Vegas. He also was sleeping with THOUSANDS of other women and writing music for Keisha Morris Shakur while he was ” with” Kidada. Tupac was not as serious about as you would like to frame him to be. He was YOUNG and WILD. Also, Kidada was out partying with Bad Boy 6 months after Pac died, she lied about being unable to speak for 9 months. She’s a phony, like her phony father.
I use to have A record deal with A guy name Mark Gordon and “QDIII” Quincy Jones 3rd. Bossman Records/ Jungle Records. Located Between MLK and Buckingham around the Crenshaw Baldwin Hills Area of Los Angeles. Although I Saw Kadada Frequently in the building, she never spoke to me. I agree with tupacs quote on his kids.
Not a particular fan of Kidada Jones at all and I wouldn’t particularly consider her as an IT girl because she wasn’t high in demand, even during that time. All I recall from her is her transactional ties with superstars like Aliyah and Tupac. I believe her relationship with Tupac was grossly exaggerated to make it seem more than what it what at the time. I also read that she was very rude and cold to Tupac’s family members. She was said to had been very stuck-up and snobbish and just generally very unlikable.
There has always been talk about famous people sacrificing their family for fame and fortune or you hear about a famous person being sacrificed for whatever reason and for the most part talk like this would go in one ear and come out the other, but when I heard what LL Cool J said about Kidada I didn’t think it was to far fetched to think that Kidada was somehow someway linked to Tupacs untimely demise since she was involved in witchcraft
So let me get this straight LL Cool J broke up with her because she was doing chants and spells on his behalf. Then she falls in love with Tupac and let me guess she did chants and spell on his behalf too? He dies and then she get a best friend “Aaliyah” and let me guess did she do chanting spells on her behalf too? I think LL Cool J dodged a bullet.
I remember Kidada and she was the it girl I guess. No Lori Harvey though. Sorry, Lori comes off as thirsty. At least Kidada worked. Anyway she is beautiful. Even though Rasheda is more fair, in Hollywood she is Black. And because of her race her acting career never went far. Same with Maya Rudolph. Both were too fair for Hollywood in the late 90s early 2000s. They ran so Zandaya could walk.
And of course… my girl SADE. Still flawless.. “No Ordinary Love”.. “Kiss Of Life”… “Is It A Crime”. and on and on. I was blessed to meet her once.. they let my friend in a wheelchair and me, go up closer at amazing concert and then go to her after party, (which didn’t see her at) but then I got to meet her face to face as she was about to wisk away in her limo. she was so sweet, beautiful and classy. I love to hear memories like that… so please anyone tell yours… of her… or anyone!
She is a distant relative of my husband, a ginger man with big lips and an Afro lol. Her dad is related to the Lanier’s, a family that goes back to royal courts of France and England around the time of Queen Elizabeth I. The Lanier family was known for art and music. Emilia Lanier, a courtesan, definitely influenced William Shakespeare and possibly wrote a few things in his name. She was the first female published poet in England. Pretty interesting history.
I never knew of her. This was nice to see.. I must really just mind my business cause I didn’t know Rashida was Quincy Jones daughter 😂 or Quincy was married to a white woman 🤦🏾♀️ I really like this! You should do more.. SideNote: she didn’t have to use Quincy name to get stuff, but let’s be real a lot of doors were easily assessable to her because Quincy was her dad 🤷🏾♀️ let’s be real,
This was interesting. I knew a lot of this stuff about Kidada. The only two things I didn’t know is her work with Tommy Hilfiger and about that Michael Jackson shoot. Also, ppl need to remember Kidada was super young when she was dating all those rappers. Yes, it’s unfortunate she was dating LL after he had his baby and Tupac when he was legally married BUT she was just a young girl in Hollywood having fun. She probably wouldn’t make some of those same choices today that she did back when she was 19 and 20. I know I did a lot of stuff that I’m not proud of that wasn’t under a microscope like her. Don’t know the woman personally, I’m just saying. Also, this is just speculation but it would make sense that Tupac was just with Kidada for the connections. I remember hearing a rumor where Tupac initially said he couldn’t get down with Quincy because he asked him if he could sleep with him for lack of a better phrase. If that really happened I can’t see Tupac actually wanting to be with Quincy’s daughter genuinely. But who knows. Just an observation. Thanks for the article. It entertained me this morning. ❤️
How can her grand parents have the audacity to treat her less due to her black features, because as far as I know her mother and her grandparents are Jewish so the grandparents should know about being dehumanized, also I felt that the lifestyle fell in kiddada’s lap effortlessly due to her father having a magazine called “Vibe” as far as talent, it’s her dad and mom who had the talent and due to being born into that it allowed her to dress in the latest hip designs, but overall I wouldn’t say she’s like specifically any more talented than anyone else, heck in 1999 I thought that women’s clothing stores should carry nail polish and guess what, now they do,just saying anyone could have done the same thing and I think her success was due to a prosperous association and having a popular father name Quincy Jones
Apart from her alleged Idolatry this Ms Jones seems to be a very positive influence. I wish she did come out into the limelight a bit more to give many of the youths a good role model. People like Cardi-B, Nikki Minaj and Megan the stallion are always in front of our TV screens but they never portray anything positive to the young woman of these days. But I appreciate her loving her privacy and maybe that is what she is a well-balanced human being.Despite her losses I pray that the Lord may continue to strengthen her. And most importantly she gives her life to Him
2 pack n kidada where not engaged. she was hanging out with biggie n puffy 6 months after he died at the vibe party and dancing like everything was all good. when 2 pac was in the hospital on life support fighting flrhis life she told his family she was carrying his child. giving those people false hope that there might still be a part of pack still on earth.
funny that it surprises people that she was best friends with michael. with michael and quincy being so close since mike’s thriller era, he essentially saw kidada grow up. I read that they would spend hours on the phone at times. definitely a big brother little sister type relationship. she has lost so many people close to her and it’s sad.
I love how I read nothing but positive things about Kidada. But it makes me wonder, how come she can practice spiritism, two people she was extremely close to died young, LLCoolJ admitted he was uncomfortable with her spiritual rituals and she still isn’t vilified like Beyoncé who did none of those things but was still called a demon for so long and is often connected to Aaliyah’s death for no reason at all?
