Andy Garcia as Billy, the titular father of the bride, seems to have been taken by surprise when his daughter Sofia (Arjona) visits and tells him she proposed and is now engaged to Adan (Boneta). The initial confusion and disapproval give way to more chaos as an over-the-top, eccentric wedding planner is introduced to the girls family. If you have seen the 1991 adaptation, then you will surely relate this character to Martin Shorts Franck Eggelhoffer.
this movie i fell in love and along with part 1 because this tells you that fathers are afraid to let their little girl’s go. and with this part 2 it tells you that the new chapter of your life is about to change with a different aspect of what’s going to happened in your life. and that’s why i love father of the bride 1 and 2. this is what i always watch over and over again.
You know a movie with Steve Martin is good when it’s a comedy, and when his old pal Martin Short is also in it. 🙂 They don’t make movies like these anymore, and it’s a bit of a shame. They say that the first one is the best, but I have to disagree… the first one makes me laugh lke crazy, but this one make me laugh like crazy and cry like a little girl. A powerful combo. Also, the last scene is beautiful.
Blessings in abundance. 😘 I salute you. Grace and peace be unto you and to this place. Will you believe and receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal savior??? Thank you Father God that you chose me to be your bride. I accept it again and again and again and again and again and again and again. ❤❤❤ I love you too. 💒💕
Part 2 was way better than the first one. I didn’t like the first one like the 2nd one. I have never seen these movies until last night and I binge watched the 1st and 2nd one. The 2nd one was so good and funny. I love Martin short was in more epic scenes. Like the car scene and him running back and forth in the hospital. It was so funny. Lol
Thank you for posting this! A classic and amazing film that I have loved since childhood. Now, as a father it hits harder emotionally. Steve Martin, and Martin Short are both effing MAGICAL. Everything about them individually is great, but together they are truly unstoppable. A terrific supporting cast make this film ALMOST as good as the first. If I had a criticism, (and I always do) it’s the ridiculous and contrived way that they shoehorned Franck and Howard in to the film. I get it… they stole the show in the first film, and I absolutely think they needed to be included. But this whole “Franck and his assistant just love to hang around hospitals for no reason” thing is just lazy. They could have done literally ANYTHING else. Have them run into each other at the supermarket… shopping for baby clothes, taking in a Nadal match… I mean ANYTHING other than a chance encounter at an OBGYNs office. Then, they should have been used sparingly. Again, I LOVE them. But they did WAY too much to force feed the audience the character. In the first film, the amount of time they spent together made sense. Large weddings do require a lot of meetings. Especially since they were doing in their home. The one SEMI-logical thing was the pair planning the baby shower. But that was only a throwaway moment of like 25 seconds. Having Franck suddenly turn into an interior decorator, hanging out at the house all hours teaching jazzercize, and then accompanying the family on the cliched rush to the hospital?
If they were to make a third and Megan & George were all grown up, what actors would play them? I nominate Saorsie Ronan & Tom Holland. Saorsie since she has a lot of Diane Keaton features to her face & bright eyes like Steve Martin & Diane. Tom Holland cause he looks like he could be related to Kimberly Williams Paisley in the mouth & face shape. Plus Saorsie & Tom both match the ages Megan & George would be (1995 was 26yrs ago, even though Saorsie is 27 & Tom is 25)
LMFAO at 33:38!!!!!!!!! And at the scene beginning at 42:52 where George & Nina are driving home from the hospital, I love how the weather seems to be completely sunny on Nina’s (driver’s) side of her Grand Cherokee & only partly sunny on George’s to represent their differing views on becoming parents again. You know, she sees being pushed in a stroller & skipping down the street, & he sees trying to keep up with an energetic kid & temper tantrums. Did anyone watch 43:37 & have the same thought I did?!! “Yeah, no shit, they don’t have any hot dogs!!!! It’s a freaking jewelry store, for Christ’s sake!!!!!”
While the whole world is in turmoil, I am happy that my family is in safe hands (which is why I am perusal this old 1990s movie) because of all the hard work and sacrifices my granduncle made for all of us and for Russia and he and his fellow engineers did a great job in preparing us for the coming solar cycles and it’s global cooling effects and highly probable LITTLE ICE AGE or a full blown glacial ice age. youtube.com/watch?v=0srcvXO5xn8&t=4359s Father Of The Bride Part II 1995 Reminds me of my first born twins and then my second born twins, boys and girls. Thank GOD my granduncle was around to see them as I present my children when they were all born, to them he is both their great-granduncle and great-grandfather.
