  • That’s crazy. Not only the rats climbing into pipes were there, but I also counted at least 3 visible on the floor. And that’s just what the eye can see, imagine the infestations inside the dark places in that kitchen! This guy is honestly a hero for sharing that because he very well could have prevented tons of people from getting sick.

  • I remember working at a fast food restaurant as a shift lead and having to open the store and when you have a pest infestation of some sort you can’t do anything about it. They just want you to open the store and get started with setting up for customers and if you try to spend any kind of money on any kind of pest control without permission you will be fired. So you have to hope that the rats and the roaches don’t get mad at you for showing up that day and start trying to square up with you.

  • The health inspectors knew about this since they’ve been inspecting the place for many many years and now that the place went public “now” they decide to close it. The place where i work is much worse than this and they never shut it down and now i rarely ever saw them again- they dont come as often anymore.

  • I worked at Wendy’s when I was a teenager and the GM and shift leads made us clean throughout the whole day. The restaurant and restrooms had to be clean and stocked at all times. They even made sure we had our shirts tucked in and clean aprons on. There’s no way this would have happened on their watch lol

  • By rule every establishment is required to have a contracted pest control company that must do a monthly treatment wether there is a problem or not, at least in MD you have to and you have to turn in the paperwork annually in order to obtain and maintain the license from the Health Dept, not sure about DC.

  • I live in Brazil and i used to deliver meat to a lot of famous places like McDonald’s, Subway, Burguer King, and even some little one’s that we only have in Brazil. Most restaurant’s isn’t so clean as you think It is, the “Vigilância Sanitária” (guy’s who check at food safety) Have a few things like acepptable amount of dirty in your freezer, i mean, most refrigerator’s smell so bad.

  • It’s just sad it took this long for them to attempt to do anything about the issue. You’ve gotta know for probably months if not lingers employees have been complaining about the rats or their droppings but it went ignored from the owner and higher ups. Can you imagine how long that restaurant has been swimming in feces and bacteria/parasites, etc, from the rodents. Gives a new perspective on when you get food poisoning from somewhere.

  • “Food safety and cleanliness is a top priority at Popeyes” Whatever you say Mr. Spokesman for the Company. Like he’d say anything else. 🙄 This is why I do not eat out. You cannot trust anyone to adhere to ethical standards and maintain a high level of sanitation. Besides, if I make it at home I know exactly what’s in it.

  • A Popeyes spokesman says “food safety and cleanliness is a top priority at Popeyes,” yeah right. In reality the sad thing about it is that this is not the first article showing a Popeyes unsanitary conditions and it probably won’t be the last. Make you really 👀🤔. I’m going to be doing more home cooking…. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches here I come 🤣

  • The last 2 times I went to Popeyes in downtown Baltimore, their men’s room had obviously been neglected for several days (excrement encrusted toilet, no soap or paper towels etc.). As a janitor who cleans public bathrooms daily, I easily spot where that work hasn’t been done. Luckily, I was only in there to rinse chicken grease off my fingers. It was weird because the dining area and kitchen (far as I could see) both looked very clean. Next time, I’m checking the bathroom first. And if it’s filthy, I’ll eat somewhere else before I go see a movie.

  • This is common with every restrunt I used to work in fast food and I learned one thing about them the employees never clean under the kitchen machines and as a result it attracts bugs and mice and rats all the employees care about is making the outside of the kitchen nice looking for the health inspector. They never look under the machines.

  • I once went into a Wendy’s and after I placed my order, a woman in line behind me screamed. I thought maybe we were being held up but she then said “There’s a Rat!” I looked and, sure enuff, a mouse 🐁 ran away & hid in the corner. I then got my order and went to wash my hands. As soon as I got in the bathroom, I noticed it was messy as hell and someone had written on the mirror “If you think the bathroom is bad just think what we do to your food!” I tried to tell myself it was just some prankster but it could’ve also been a disgruntled worker too. Needless to say, I wasn’t real happy after that experience and decided to never go back. They shut down about a month later.

  • I’m a big believer in even if the place is clean and the city is prone to mice that you’re still gonna have this problem for example New York is flooded with mice it’s in the walls in the buildings connected to each other it’s not that one company needs to clean I think multiple company should clean out once and get rid of the problem but people don’t seem to want to take care of the issue
