In Jewish law, the involvement of two witnesses is crucial in the marriage ceremony. The tenaim (engagement contract) must be signed by two witnesses, and the ketubah (marriage contract) must also be signed by witnesses. The witnesses who effect the marriage are those who stand beneath the chupah and witness.
Judaism views marriage as the ideal human state, and both the Torah and the Talmud view a man without a wife or a woman without a husband as incomplete. A Jewish wedding is one of the cornerstones of the Jewish life cycle and is a great cause for celebration. The bride is the last person to enter, and upon reaching the huppah, the erusin ceremony begins. This simple ceremony is marked by two blessings recited by the presiding rabbi, who holds a cup of wine.
The Jewish wedding ceremony comprises two major sections: erusin (betrothal) and nissuin (marriage). The erusin ceremony is dated the sixth day of the month Sivan in the year 2448 from the creation, which is traditionally the day on which the Torah was given. The heavens and the earth witness the marriage certificate.
At the reception, the first thing usually done is the completion, signing, and witnessing of the ketuvah, or marriage contract. This contract, written in Aramaic, details the husband’s obligations to his wife, such as food. Vows are not spoken verbally at a Jewish wedding, but they do not need to be as all commitments and obligations exist between a Jewish married couple.

What do Jews say at weddings?
Mazel tov! Now it’s time to celebrate! Mazel tov is like congratulations, but literally means good fortune. It’s a lovely wish for a new couple at the end of a Jewish wedding ceremony.
Yihud. In a day full of chaos, the yihud is a special ritual that lets you focus on your new partnership. After the ceremony, the newlyweds go to a private room for 15 minutes. No in-laws, no seating charts, no videographer. Just you and your new spouse. In the old days, the bride and groom went to a tent to consummate the marriage. It’s not common these days, but newlyweds usually share a bite or two of their first meal together. Rabbi Portnoy Goldberg says the yichud is a good choice because there aren’t many chances to spend time together on a busy wedding day. It’s also a chance to eat, which is hard to do otherwise.
How do you bless a newly married couple?
Wedding Wishes Wishing you a lifetime of love. May your special union bring joy to your life. May the years ahead be filled with love and happiness. Wishing you a lifetime of love.

It’s important to take gift-giving seriously, including what to write inside a wedding card. A wedding is a big deal. Writing a special message for the happy couple will mean a lot.
What is the Jewish signing at a wedding?
In a Jewish wedding, the ketubah is signed by two witnesses and read aloud under the chuppah between the erusin and nissuin. Friends or distant relatives can witness the ketubah, which is an honor. Close relatives cannot be witnesses. The witnesses must be valid witnesses, so they can’t be relatives of the couple. In Orthodox Judaism, women cannot be witnesses. The ketubah is given to the bride (or her mother) to keep safe. Display it. The ketubah is often displayed prominently in the home by the married couple as a daily reminder of their vows and responsibilities to each other. However, in some communities, the ketubah is either kept private or not displayed at all. People say that the details are personal and that showing it might make others jealous or afraid of the evil eye. The ketubah used to say if the bride was a virgin. In Sephardic communities, the ketubah still lists the family’s contributions to the new household and the divorce settlement. Ashkenazi communities have set amounts for all weddings.
What do Jews say when someone gets married?
Mazel tov! Mazel tov! is a Jewish wedding tradition. Once the ceremony is over, guests will cheer Mazel tov! Mazel tov means good luck or congratulations. It means wishing the person good luck or a great future. Mazel tov is the perfect thing to say at a wedding!
Yichud. After the ceremony, couples spend at least eight minutes alone. This wedding custom lets the newly married couple reflect on their new relationship and bond. The bride and groom also share their first meal together as husband and wife during the yichud. Meals vary from community to community. They can range from golden soup to chocolate chip cookies.
Hora and Mezinke. At the reception, guests dance in a circle to the hora. Sometimes women dance with women and men dance with men. The bride and groom are lifted up while holding onto a cloth napkin. There is also a dance called the mezinke, which is a special dance for the parents of the bride or groom when their last child is wed.
What do Jews say when they celebrate?
Chag Sameach! (Happy holiday!) Or if you’re really sophisticated, Moadim lsimcha, which means “festivals for joy.” You may also hear “gut yuntuv,” which means happy holiday in Hebrew. Have you ever heard someone say “Happy Jewish New Year” and didn’t know what it meant? Jewish holidays and other occasions have Jewish greetings. Here are some traditional Hebrew and Yiddish responses and their meanings. You’re doing well! Shalom is the most common Jewish greeting. It means hello, goodbye, and peace.
Happy occasions. Good luck! Pronounced be-hatz-la-kha.

As a Christian, I DEFINITELY BELIEVE AND WANT to learn more about Jewish culture BECAUSE Jesus was Jewish and he is correct 👍🏽 Jesus celebrated Festival of Lights and Passover. If anything I believe it will foster MORE God-like compassion for both religious communities because we all serve and believe in the SAME GOD❤️💯
To become Jewish for me would be a Galatians situation Paul spoke against, yet in Christ every Jewish believer is my brother and I share in the covenant promises made to Abraham. So I’m thankful that through the Hebrew people the Messiah was born that will be a blessing to all peoples. God bless your work!
Not your strongest line of arguing. should asked him how Christians are supposed to become “jewish”, obviously they can’t convert their genetics, but they also can’t convert to “Judaism” because the Rabbis only accept very few goyim to do that and also they have to abandon their believe that Jesus is the Messiah, AND being Christian does not mean you’re not Jewish in the first place if you are born a Jew, and if you are born a goyim, you can still follow the Jewish holy days as they all apply to Christianity also really…
Just subscribed. WOW man what a ministry to have. My prayers are with you. Jesus has equipped you with His own grace and Spirit to witness to Gods chosen in a way that most of us don’t have access to. The Jewish people are truly remarkable and once they’ve been enlightened to Christ and His Lordship, they will as you have be some of the greatest witnesses this world has ever seen. After all, it was converted Jews who gave us the west as we know it today, in so many ways that most people arent even aware of
Thank you. Me as catholic of course know that the last supper was the evening of Passover. And i for myself as traditional roman catholic startet to celebrate the jewish Holiday’s, eating kosher and praying with the Kippa and Tallis. Even wearing Zizit. Sorry for my bad english. Greetings from Germany and G’d bless you and your work.
Thank you for what you do, brother. Could you make a article about life in Israel as a Christian? Sharing your experience or interviewing people about what church they belong to, what the community is like, how they are being treated by Jews, finding a Christian partner and so on. Greetings and God bless you.
Dear Jeff and Elisha Thank you for all these great articles and for your ministry. And thank God for you, too! In this article, you mention the last supper and specifically the part when Jesus mentions the bread and wine, body and blood of the new covenant. Curious to know what Jeff and/or Elisha thinks about the Sacrament of the Eucharist celebrated in every Catholic Mass across the world?
I agree 100%, that Christians should look more like the Jews although my agreement is nothing. That gentleman is absolutely correct. interestingly there is a remnant that is pursuing yeshua and beginning to look more like Him, in speech and conduct, celebrating His feast days and Shabbat and learning the ways of God… Jeff I wish you had allowed him to talk some more, my Rabbi, who is Messianic says, Gentiles say, ” we can’t believe that Jews dont see that Yeshua is the Messiah, but by the same token, how could Christians not see that He is Jewish?” I teach a small group to see that Yeshua did NOT start a new religion called Christianity and neither did the Apostle Paul, and its all there in the Bible. We are getting back to the roots of our faith and its beautiful!
In Matthew 5:17-18, Jesus says, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the law until everything is accomplished.”
The new covenant is written in our hearts and minds, and Holy Spirit is with us/guides us. As said in both old and new testaments. Becoming Jewish, as in religion, would not help gentile be more Christian. Some Christians do like to follow some old ways like passover, and such. But Jesus sometimes gives other guidance, like Mark 7:19 concerning food; and in Acts God gives Peter message about food and also inferring it would also be about people (inclusion of gentiles).
I’m Christian and I do feel a deep connection to Jews and Judaism, because of the Old Testament and the fact that Jesus was Jewish. Our history prior to Jesus is the same. However, there is a difference. We Christian believe that Christ was the Messiah saving us all and dieing for our sins. His teachings are the foundation of our faith, not the old testament. It’s not about what religion Jesus practiced, but that we believe that he is the son of God and that his teachings will lead us to ‘heaven’. I love the teachings of Jesus. It’s very peaceful (unlike it has been used and interpreted over the years). I love being a Christian, but I appreciate Judaism a lot and feel a strong connection ❤
It’s funny because I am feeling Jewish because I LOVE❤️Yeshuah and HIS SACRIFICE FOR ME. We are grafted in and now I am celebrating Sabbath and Hanukkah 🕎. I am trying to live by the Jewish calendar but it is very difficult if I live under the Gregorian Calendar. So in answer to this man who believed SO MUCH in himself “It’s difficult” but I also think Religion has almost made a different Yeshuah and his name is Jesus. I have been seeking HIM for many years now and just kept finding traditions and not really Yeshuah Himself. I have now found Him and He was and IS JEWISH. The Holy Spirit gave me a New Name Shoshannah and told me I am Jewish. I am feeling like a New person now. Thank YOU LORD, Messiah Yeshuah I love💕you so much and now I am coming to Israel. Hallelujah!
Jesus is not calling believers in Him to become Jewish. He is calling us to salvation in Him. Because that was foretold of Him in the old testament. That God was going to send a Savior (Messiah) to atone for the sins that separate us (ALL mankind) from our Creator. The traditions the Jewish people follow are not theirs but God’s He taught them to them through Moses but they are for ALL who believe in Him because they are His feasts (Leviticus 23:4 KJV). It’s sad that not many understand this. The only reason why we know it as the Jewish peoples traditions is because they kept them longer. The Church or believers in Jesus later accepted pagan traditions after a certain false/counterfeit Christianity arose. Therefore the Christianity we know today practices more of that pagan traditions then the ones that are God’s that He taught to the children of Israel which left Egypt which was a mixed multitude (Exodus 12:37-38 KJV), so gentiles were also among them and agreed to keep them as well. And according to the book of Acts gentile believer kept the the 7th day Sabbath because Paul taught in synagogues on the 7th day Sabbath and the gentiles would ask him after to come back again the next Sabbath to teach them more. Acts 13:14-16 & 42 KJV ¹⁴ But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down. ¹⁵ And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.
Thank you for your patience… Mine was not that well when listening to that man’s reasoning… But God closed his eyes and ears as a Jew so that Jesus can have a church who will follow him forever and ever… I’d you read the book of Revelation Jesus comes back WITH the believers to reign with him and also with the remaining Jews after the Tribulation 🙏🙏🙏❤️
The man being interviewed is so right! If we are to be like the Messiah, we should do what he did. He is the Torah made flesh. He is the feast days in Leviticus 23. He did not come to convert everyone to a new religion called Christianity which is pagan at it’s roots. We are grafted into Israel. We join the family of Messiah. We don’t replace Israel. There shall be one Law for the native born and the stranger, which is Torah. YAHUSHA said at Passover, ” to do this in remembrance of Him.” Do what? What were they doing? They were keeping Passover, so He wants us to keep the Passover in remembrance of Him, Not Eshtar. The Messiah is the Passover Lamb, He rose on first fruits and is the unleavened bread, without sin, without transgression of the Torah. The new Covenant is the same Covenant just given to a new people. YAHUAH does not change.
As a Christian, I have already celebrated Sabbath with fellow Christians, a catholic Community named “Die Gemeinschaft der Seligpreisungen”. They are very much connected to Israel and the Jewish traditions. Why? Simply because Yeshua is Jewish. I don’t think it’s necessary to celebrate the Jewish traditions, but it gives a deeper understanding of Christianity. And it’s so heartwarming, I love Judaism for the positive attitude to life and the love for God.❤❤❤
The reason Jews don’t believe that Mr. J was the messiah is because he fulfilled none of the scriptural requirements for being the messiah. The reason Jews reject the NT and Christianity as false is because they contradict the verified word of Gd as recorded by Moses in the Torah. No matter how friendly you are, no matter which manipulations you employ, no matter how you present your arguments, these facts won’t change.
I am Irish Jewish Pagan who recently came to believe that Yeshua is the Mashiach. I never practiced any Mitzvoh. Then after October 7th, like many other non practicing Jews, I started Shabbot observance. Not perfectly, but I am moving that way. Soon I will have a Mezuzah on every one of my doors. I think I like what this fella said, at least for us Jews who accept that Yeshua is our Mashiach
This is kind of funny to watch (Jesus was Jewish right yeah Jesus was Jewish yes so Jesus believed in himself because Jesus was a Jew 😂) and I understand this man’s confusion. I so respect how the interviewer is loving and non judgmental yet sticks with the truth. It was so inspired to tell the man when he mentioned Passover that Jesus said this is the cup of the new covenant of my blood. That was perfect. I pray this precious man sees his Messiah ❤✝️
Lord open their eyes to see. It’s like they have all the proof then refuse to admit the truth that Jesus is Lord. Great interview. Thank you for all you do brother ✨✝️ And yes, of course, being children of God means we also adopt some Jewish culture as well. You have Freedom in Christ. It’s not obligatory. So now we have our Lord culture and the Grace given to us by Faith ✨♥️ It’s a win / win Shabbat Shalom & Happy Purim weekend ✨🍷🍞 🎊
I’ve spoke to a few Rabbis in my time about their views on someone becoming or converting to Judaism and they all had the same take. They said it’s not missionary religion so that dont try to gain followers, there is an ethnic aspect to being Jewish, that unless someone was marrying into a Jewish family and were absolutely adamant that they were prepared to follow the Jewish faith that they would discourage it, or at least have the person go away numerous times to really think about it. Its complicated because a gentile who converts, and embraces the religious aspects fully will probably never be thought of as Jewish as someone like Seth Rogen or David Baddiel who are atheists but are still absolutely Jewish. Its unique this way, so unlike Christianity, Islam that are actively trying to get you in our club, the Jews don’t seem to bother what you personally believe
He’s right(interviewed man). We should be keeping Torah just like Yeshua. That is… All the laws that apply and feast days. There is a Awakening that’s been happening for a long time where us as Believers in Messiah are shedding man-made traditions for the traditions of the Bible and returning to the ancient paths. All the while holding our Salvation in Yeshua Messiah that we are saved by grace through faith and not by works. When we believe in Yeshua and shoes Torah we are grafted in as Hebrews. It’s a beautiful thing Shalom
Good question and quite reasonable to ask. My answer would be that I would have become Jewish but the New Testament tells me that I don’t need to, in order to be partakers of the Covenant or the blessings of God. That’s it. But I love and respect Jews and I learn a lot from them about the practices that are mentioned in the Bible.
There is a distinction between Jews and gentiles. As gentiles, we who believe and accept Jesus Christ are grafted in. We are of thr new covenant. The Bible, Paul, makes it clear that we as gentiles are not and do not have to become Jews. We are not the chosen of God’s covenants in the OT- but through Jesus Christ, we the ‘sheep of another fold’and what was prophesied about our acceptance of Him- they are two distinct things. Jews, I pray, will become Christian- ie followers of Christ, who is God in the flesh, riddled throughout the OT. God bless you and your ministry. I thank and praise Jesus for our salvation and pray for the Jews safety and acceptance of Christ!
I have taken Hebrew cooking classes which have given me a better understanding of the dishes Jesus may have eaten and to understand the clean way of cooking ( kosher) process which has actually helped me become a healthier eater.. I scour the internet for things like “Jesus 2023, etc, the hair cut that Jesus may have had, the customs in Israel of Jesus’ time… When I meet a Jewish person, I wonder if that’s what my Jesus may have looked like, I’m so in Love with Jesus & I remember his wishes were to pray for his people, though back then, they rejected him– and so I do – I pray for them daily…
Soo Nice this conversation !! Well, I would say to this very nice gentleman: 👑Jesus/ Yeshua makes us Jewish = 👑G🔥D-lover, because His 👑Ruach is in our heart when we are Born again, if we become real followers of 👑Yeshua 👑HE fills us completely and gives us sooo much ❤love for the Jewish people of Israel !! 🇮🇱We are grafted in the 🌳Tree = Israel ! ❤️Yes, I even started to like falafel and middle easter food more then ever before when I became a believer !!🤣 🙏Bless you and shalom ❤from 🇳🇱
I’m a Christian i have two tallits that my best friend’s sister alofa brought from Israel in 2014 and my brother Tony Rina brought me another one when he went to Israel last summer… GOD bless the Jewish people let’s pray that their eyes be open to see their Messiah Yeshua Hamashiach our Savior and Lord… they’re coming y’all The first Christians were Jews and the last Christians will be Jews the Arabs too God’s Spirit is moving It won’t be long now in the twinkling of an eye we shall meet the Lord in the sweet bye and bye….
Great article! I’m a Christian and I can understand the Jewish man’s perspective. I agree that Christians should be keeping the sabbath and the biblical holy days, and worshiping the way Jesus did. The sad truth is that our western Christian culture has been tainted by an evil combination of paganism and commercialism. Once you see the roots of our current traditions, you have to admit, our festivities have nothing at all to do with Christ. In fact, it’s a blasphemous slap in his face.
The Council’s letter to the Gentile believers answers this mans question regarding Christians becoming Jews. The Bible says what the Gentile believer should do or how he/she should behave clearly in Acts 15:29 “You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.” The Bible clearly states that new believers who are not Jewish should not worry themselves from following Jewish traditions.
I love how you point out this Just because Jesus was Jewish doesn’t all Christians should be Because we basically pray in his name we come to the father through him which was hard to the old Jews Jesus showed us a New was it’s doesn’t really matter how u pray or wat u call ur religion as long as you acknowledge Jesus Christ the Messiah and follow his teachings you pray and obey the commandments ✝️✝️🙏🙏😊😊💚 I’m also Christian Jew 💚💚 Also Jesus Christ came for all of mankind not just Jews so everyone should follow in his footsteps 😊😊
Yes!!! This man is right! When God gave Moses the Commandments for all those who he lead out of Egypt (a mixed multitude) God said the same Commandments are for the Jews & the gentiles(those from other nations). I believe that when we believe in God & Yeshua we are “grafted” into the olive tree (represents Israel). It was always supposed to be ONE people, ONE faith, ONE God. Man corrupted it all by making different “churches”, religions & faiths, creating confusion, conflicts & wars because of it! So many are on the BROAD paths….😢 They changed His Holy Sabbath days, Feast Days & even His Commandments & now say His dietary Law is no longer relevant!! Be careful what/who you are following!! 🙏🏼❤️
That man is right. I left Christianity after 50 years when I learned we must follow Yeshua in the context of New Covenant Judaism. I am one of the 10 Gentiles grasping the priest to live by the New JEWISH Covenant. Please dear Jewish followers of Yeshua, I beg you to restore the original teachings of the true Yeshua – discard the apostasy of the false apostastat Paul – even Paul’s closest followers rejected Paul in the end. Our Father bless you and protect you as you fight this war.❤
Okay. Jesus Christ is not a religion. He is a person that is alive and well to have a nice loving relationship with. It’s not about religion!!!!! It’s about Truth and Righteousness!!! It’s about Jesus Christ. To my Jewish brothers and sisters, the messiah was already here, and He is coming back. The First Coming has already happened!!!
As a Christian, I’ve honestly thought about this too. Because Christians say they want to live like Jesus, so I wondered if that would influence Christians to convert to Judaism, since Jesus was Jewish. Or maybe they want to remain Christians and just be kind and forgiving like him? It’s all very interesting to think about
Search this: “Bereshit in sinaitic” script (In the beginning… Gen 1:1). Bereshit contains the words that mean “the Son of God is a gift of the covenant” or “the Son of God is destroyed by his own hand on the cross”, the first word in the Bible. Also YHVH in sinaitic script means: behold my hand, behold my nail.
Interesting what this gentleman had to say…I understand his point. I am a 77yr old Christian who has been blessed with a lot of studying of the Tanach this year ( with the help of several Messianic Christians ). I have had to review my stance a little in as much as that I always considered Christianity as a separate Faith from Judaism….actually it’s not, more like a fulfillment of Judaism. I see myself as a gentile who has been grafted onto the root of Judaism…this guy was right when he said Jesus was Jewish, born to a Jewish family, raised as a Jew, worshipped in a Jewish temple, taught from the Tanach, his disciples were all Jewish ( apart from Judas Iscariot ). Throughout the Tanach there are so many signs/prophecies about the Messiah, maybe you could have pointed out some of these to the gentleman. In conclusion, I am a Messianic Welshman!! So happy to have the same roots as my Jewish brothers and sisters, so grateful that Jesus the Messiah gave His life that I may be saved, and can’t wait for the time when he returns. God is good.
I’m assuming that they guy being interviewed doesn’t know much about Jesus, who he is, his earthly ministry, and ideals about identity and salvation. Galatians 3:28 says “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”. In God’s eyes, the only identity that makes you his child is when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior! That’s it! That’s the ultimate identity! After you’re saved it doesn’t matter if you’re a Jew or Gentile, just that you live by the words of Jesus Christ every single day!
As I read the Bible, I don’t think that Jesus ever intended to create a new belief system which was later called “Christianity” when the Romans started calling the believers of Christ, “Christians.” HE only wanted to go back to basic. And going back to basic means going back to the heart and intention of the 10 Commandments that HE summarized in to 2 Commandments. The first half of the 10C becomes, “Loving God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.” And the second half becomes, “Loving your neighbor as you love yourself.” HE did this because even at that time, HE realized that, from the Babylonian exile to HIS current time, the religious elites added lots of human traditions and teachings that became more important than the Scriptures, in that society HE was living in.
It was tried by some early communities. The apostles told them to stop and not to put additional unnecessary burdens on Gentiles. It was causing confusion. Salvation is through Christ. Not through following the old covenant and attached laws. Those are useful to show us how to live a proper life etc, but Christ’s sacrifice frees us from the laws of sin and death.
I’m a Gentile and know from accepting and believing in Yashua that I am grafted into the Jewish believing body of Christ and I am not called to convert to being a Jew in order to be saved. Jesus came for the Jews first and then the Gentiles. The Apostle Paul was called the Apostle to the Gentiles. I hate to burst his bubble but I was born Gentile and conversion doesn’t turn you into a Jew. He needs to study the old and new Testament also. I for one would love to study the Hebrew Bible if I could read Hebrew or Latin or Greek, furthermore I firmly believe that if Jew and Gentiles believers could come together as one and teach each other we would both benefit greatly. It would close that gap between us. I love and respect the Jews, and in a world where truth has become lie and lie has become truth I attended school at a time when the truth about the Holocaust was being taught. The Jews are the most courageous people I’ve ever seen, but then they have been forced to be. Praying for peace, prosperity and safety for,Israel, the Jews, the IDF,the hostages, and wisdom for the leaders of Israel.❤
When I was in high school in a Catholic town I got called the F”ng Jew and a bunch of other antisemitic names all the time and made fun of because I was studying Messianic Judaism, listening to Matisyahu, and thinking about converting. Ended up staying a Christian for different reasons but I’ll never forget how I was treated because I found something deeply beautiful about Judaism.
It’s all summed up in St. Paul’s letter to Gatians: Galatians 4:4-5 “4 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.” Galatians 5:4-6 “4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”
Matthew 12:46-50\r \r Jesus’ Mother and Brothers\r 46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”\r \r 48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.
I guess in a sense you could say we did sort of become Jewish… the completed form of Judaism. We don’t all observe things like Hanakkuh, Passover and the feasts (although sometimes I wonder if it would be good for us if we did observe some of these… not sinful if we don’t observe… just maybe it would help us go deeper in our faith if we experienced these customs a bit more) but we do put faith and trust in the Jewish messiah and we follow the Jewish commandments, we read the torah because it is part of our Old Testament, etc.
Actually I remember a friend of mine asking me about myself being a Jew, when he talked to his priest he asked his Roman Catholic priest if Jesus was a Jew, why did the church make Christianity, if Jesus is G-d and is Jewish why aren’t we Jewish. He said his priest blushed hard and asked him if he had any sins to confess.
Well, unwittingly this man is absolutely right! Little does he know. All Christians/followers of the Messiah Yeshua absolutely unequivocally DO become Jewish in our hearts! It says so clear as ever in Romans 2 and Romans 9–11. All true born again Christians ARE Jews in our hearts. We do become grafted into God’s Olive Tree / Israel /*Jewish people* ❗️☝️ There is absolutely no two ways about this❗️ HalleluYah, all glory and thanks be to Jesus Christ / Yeshua the Messiah, for our Redemption and SALVATION (“Yeshua”)! AMEN 🙏 ❤
It seems that the gentleman is making a presupposition that Rabbinical Judaism is the only Judaism when it was created when the temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD. This is the logical fallacy of “begging the question”, arguing from the stance that his point is already assumed to be true. In fact, Rabbinical Judaism was a reaction to Christianity which IS a form of Judaism. It could be said that from the perspective of those that rejected Christ that only they are Jews, but from the perspective of God or Ha Shem (for those afraid to mention He whom they worship) that Christians are the true Jews.

How a fatherless child is determined to be a descendant of David is a total puzzle. His biological father is unknown. Besides, the Tanakh says the Messiah is to be from the Lion of the tribe of Judah which is the root of David. So not a descendant of David, a descendant of the stump of Jesse. Should I go around bothering people with proselytizing? Remember the golden rule.
Jesus didn’t come to make Gentiles Jews, or Jews more Jewish. He came to reconcile both Jew and Gentile to God. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. Ephesians 2:14-16
That at that time ye were without Christ, beingaliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
The man said it very correctly. Jesus is a Jew, so we all must believe in the Jewish Religion. I am an Orthodox Christian, from Greece and I tell you responsibly that we follow the Jewish religion, with Jesus as messiah. That’s it, it’s simple. The High Priest Caiaphas did not accept the Jewish Jesus as the Messiah. The Rabbis to this day follow the choice of the High Priest Caiaphas. That is why we do not accept the Talmud. We follow the God of the Jewish fathers Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the Prophets, we believe in the Torah, and we accepted the redemption of the Torah with the Jewish Jesus the Messiah. WE FOLLOW THE JEWISH RELIGION TO THE LETTER AND DIE FOR IT. The new Israel, which now has nothing to do, as in the past, only with blood, but also concerns all nations, has a history of 2000 years. The new Israel, the ancient Orthodox Church founded by Jews (the 12 apostles are Jews). There is a secret I can tell you. I can tell you the reason why the High Priest Caiaphas and the Pharisees did not accept Jesus at that time. If you want to know, write me …….
A Jew who becomes a Christian who believes in Christ, and the Father who sent Him, Jesus Christ, who died in our place for our sins, and rose from the dead on the third day, AND whosoever believes and accepts Him into their heart❤ is a completed Jew. 😊 He came in the flesh to save us from our sins to have everlasting Life with Him forever in heaven. Yes, He was a Jew. Yes, He brought a New Covenant. Yes, He loves us. Simple.😊
“We are those people, the ones God chose not only from the Jews but also from those who are not Jews. As the Scriptures say in the book of Hosea, “The people who are not mine— I will say they are my people. And the people I did not love— I will say they are the people I love.” Hosea 2:23 And, “Where God said in the past, ‘You are not my people’— there they will be called children of the living God.” Hosea 1:10 And Isaiah cries out about Israel: “There are so many people of Israel, they are like the grains of sand by the sea. But only a few of them will be saved. Yes, the Lord will quickly finish judging the people on the earth.” Isaiah 10:22-23 It is just as Isaiah said: “The Lord All-Powerful allowed some of our people to live. If he had not done that, we would now be like Sodom, and we would be like Gomorrah.” Isaiah 1:9 So what does all this mean? It means that people who are not Jews were made right with God because of their faith, even though they were not trying to make themselves right. And the people of Israel, who tried to make themselves right with God by following the law, did not succeed. They failed because they tried to make themselves right by the things they did. They did not trust in God to make them right. They fell over the stone that makes people fall. The Scriptures talk about that stone: “Look, I put in Zion a stone that will make people stumble. It is a rock that will make people fall. But anyone who trusts in him will never be disappointed.” Isaiah 8:14; 28:16″ — Romans 9:24-33
The advice to Christians that they should adhere to the Jewish faith is understandable, but I believe that there are millions of Christians in the world who are already doing this, namely as the Orthodox Jews do: – living a pious life, keeping the 10 commandments, going to a church and listening to the pastor/evangelist and doing his/her best to live well and especially to strive for bonus points to be admitted to heaven later on. \r \r A far better piece of advice to (Reborn) – Christians and Jews would be for them to believe with all their heart and soul in the Almighty, Sovereign, Gracious, and Loving God and enter into a personal living relationship with The Lord God and Lord Jesus Christ.
He is actually making a valid point and it is Biblical in fact. Peter explains that we “Christians” are born-again as citizens of “Israel” – we have inherited the promises that were given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, through to King David – we have been adopted into the family of God as His very own chosen people. 1 Peter 2:9 You (believers in Jesus) are a chosen people (Israel – Isa 43:20; Deut 7:6; 10:15), royal priests (Israel – Ex 19:6; Isa 61:6), God’s holy nation (Israel – Ex 19:6), His very own possession (Israel – Isa 43:7, 21; Ex 19:5; Num 6:27). This is so you can demonstrate to others your praise of Him, who has called you out of darkness and into His wonderful Light. Paul also explains that we “Christians” have been grafted-into “Israel”. (Romans 11:17) The New Covenant is a marriage covenant. Jesus is our Husband and we are His bride – the bride of Christ. Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him the glory. For the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready. (Rev 19:7)
Because Gentiles are grafted in to the Jews by Christ. And because of Christ, we don’t require any more sacrifes and religious ceremonies to pay our debts. (Read Hebrews) He raises a great question, but his questions have all been answered by the NT. Gentile Christians are now part of the family of chosen ppl through the blood of Christ.
Romans 2:28-29\r “A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.” – So christians, according to Bible, are Jews in spiritual meaning. Not by flash, but in spirit.
The English term Jew originates in the Biblical Hebrew word Yehudi, meaning “from the Kingdom of Judah Judah; Meaning:Praise, praised, to praise Israel; “God perseveres Gentile; person who is not Jewish. Nations that are without the gospel… From my researching it seems like the Jewish people actually just mean people that praise God with there heart the true believers.
17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root(b) of the olive tree, 18 do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. 19 Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” 20 That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. 22 Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off. 23 And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be grafted back into their own olive tree. Romans 11:17-24
Lots of “Christians” are awakening to the TRUTH. (some call it the “Hebrew Roots” movement, or “Messianic Judaism” or whatever. (I try not to label it. I’m a follower of Messiah)) What this guy says is almost true. I’ve been learning the Torah as a believer in Messiah Yeshua for over 10 years now. Keeping Shabbat, the feasts, the biblical dietary laws, all of his commands, AND THEY ARE NOT BURDENSOME!!! I wish I could tell this guy that, “Yes, we are awakening too!!!”
True Christians are spiritual Jews. We are grafted into the tribe of Israel by believing in Jesus Christ as messiah. We are also spiritually circumsized of the heart by believing in him. Jesus has fulfilled the commandments of God, and by believing in Jesus, we are made perfect in the law. The perfect, atoning blood of Jesus Christ is the final atonement. Believers in Jesus as messiah are seen by God as never breaking a single commandment or ever sinning. We are made clean by his new covenant.
The Bible tells us, that we are IN Jesus Christ, when we are baptized upon faith in Him. IN Jesus, we are Jewish. But then Jesus did fulfill the Law, which was a tutor, until Salvation by faith came along. Hence a different kind of Jewish emerged from the day He rose from the death. Freed from the Law, that just showed us, that we were sinners, for no one could ever keep it. Freed to the very basics of first loving God with all we are and have and then loving others. When we live by His Spirit, this becomes our new nature. Against love, peace, joy, goodness and the other parts of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5) there IS no law.
Jewish people never did get forgiveness for their sins, because they don’t exercise faith in the christ. This is why I love being a Christian. Because I know by reading the Bible that no matter what I do, I always get forgiveness for my sin and no one can tell me differently. Can the jews say that something!!!!
John 3:3 KJV Bible\r “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 6:32 KJV Bible\r “Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.”
I know what the man was trying to say…. He said all things God made was for his people the true Hebrews”Jews” one of the tribes… We’re all Christian because they believed in God and his salvation so we ought to follow God and his commandments… That’s from old.. Wich is true.. but there’s a very important thing God has said he will make a new covenant to the house of Israel for them and the gentiles.. a way that only God can make ..NEW covenant.. not old… So we live a new way not a old way..
I think the problem is with the declaration of Paul to Jewish Christians (judaizers) who were Christian who were Jews who wanted pagans gentiles to follow the Jewish custom and practice or become Jewish like this guy with the hat says but if you are okay with it and deny Paul then you’ll be a unpopular position so something similar to Ethiopian Christians or coptics or some form of Armenian Christian traditions who had both Jewish Christian and regular Christian who were of Armenian with correct doctrine.
The term Christ is a Greek translation of Messiah. Those who believe in the Christ are called Christians (sharing his flesh and blood). So, translate the term Christ back into Hebrew, it means Messiah and those who believe in the Messiah as Messiahites, who share the same flesh and blood as the Messiah – and share the same Father, the God of Israel. So, that very much makes the Messiahites spiritual Israelites or spiritual Jews. However, some spiritualize the passages about Israel in the Bible, thinking that it refers to spiritual Israel only and that the physical Israel has ceased to be a part of God’s plan. Yet, the Bible clearly intends for words about Israel to be taken literally as well. Those who take it literally, also, do not think Israel is replaced. But, this understanding should not be confused with rote learning, that “we read xyz, we see xyz”. Ultimately, it’s the Spirit of God working in people that gives them understanding or conviction about these issues.
Amen and amen po. (Acts 1:8)KJV. Because: though “gentile Christians” (like us). couldn’t be a literally Jewish blood lines. But had “BELIEVING and OBEYING” the HOLY WORDS of dearest LORD JESUS CHRIST: from the (HOLY BIBLE KJV). of the “APOSTOLIC GOSPELS”: then we became a “MODERN SPIRITUAL ISRAELITES”: po. (John 10:30, John 3:3-8 and Mark 16:16-18 ). GOD BLESS you ALL po.
Galatians 3:26-28 For in union with the Messiah, you are all children of God through this trusting faithfulness; because as many of you as were immersed into the Messiah have clothed yourselves with the Messiah, in whom there is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor freeman, neither male nor female; for in union with the Messiah Yeshua, you are all one. Also, if you belong to the Messiah, you are seed of Avraham and heirs according to the promise. We are all the body of Christ Jesus by his grace through faith in him.
Both christians and muslims state the jewish messianic preacher Jesus (Yeshuah) from Nazareth is the biblically predicted final Messiah, even if they conceive him in opposite irreconcilable ways about his nature, role and mission. First of all, the hebrew term Messiah or Masshiach, in greek rendered with the term Christós (pronounciation *Chreestos, from which latin Christus/*Chreestoos, which in english becomes Christ/*Kraist), means “Anointed-Consecrated”, which is a holy title and role, not a personal name at all, and in the Tanakh a.k.a. the Hebrew-Jewish Bible (by christians renamed Old Testament to attach on it their New Testament so creating the christian Bible in quite different canons according to the major christian churches) it is given to jewish kings and high-priests anointed by prophets and even to the persian zoroastrian king-emperor Cyrus, a non-israelite, who liberated the Israelites/Jews from the slavery of Babylon helping them to return to Israel and to Jerusalem, their holy city. Jews disagree with christians and muslims on the identity of the biblically predicted final Messiah, who cannot be Jesus (Yeshuah) from Nazareth because in the prophecies of the Tanakh it is clearly stated that the predicted final Messiah is a future Jewish King from the Davidic line, who is expected to be anointed with holy oil and rule the jewish people during the Messianic Age and world to come, being immediately recognized as such by jews and all human beings and spreading the renewed Torah (“renewed” means restored and not reformed with a new scripture as instead claimed by christians and muslims) among all the peoples of the world, who will accept and follow the Messiah and the Torah spontaneously by the soul and the heart without any constriction (this will be the “new covenant” with the biblical God).
He is stuck on saying that Jesus is Jewish I humbly request you to start many Home Churches in Israel for the seeker Jews. The church is the most beautiful precious for God since he purchased us with his blood Acts 2;47 The Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved Acts 2;42 please continue steadfastly in prayers, fellowship, apostles doctrine and Lord supper
Jesus came to be the sacrifice for our sins. That is what all the animal sacrifices in the Old Testament pointed too. He was the Messiah. The Jews have missed this and have missed completing their faith. They stopped when they should have accepted Jesus. They Jews wait for the Messiah and he has already come.
They’re talking about the dead Jesus, not the Jesus that resurrected 3 days after, and left the Jews forever. The Jews write the Torah and follow the Torah the Jews write. Christians read the bible, each time a New updated testament. The Jews update the Torah always? or just because Christian’s do update the bible each time.
Rom 2:25\r For circumcision indeed profiteth, if thou be a doer of the law: but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is become uncircumcision.\r 2:26\r If therefore the uncircumcision keep the ordinances of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be reckoned for circumcision?\r 2:27\r and shall not the uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who with the letter and circumcision art a transgressor of the law?\r 2:28\r For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh:\r 2:29\r but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Can someone explain how a non Jewish person can become one😄 I just can’t believe anyone would think of such thing. Non Jewish people are called gentiles right? The Jewish have their own laws and so do the gentiles but no where in the Bible does it say we need to become Jewish if so then it would be in the Bible itself.
Notice the “NEW COVENANT” 😇 we cant be jews because we are not however even if were not. Gods Mercy,Love and Salvation reaches us and God deigned that we GENTILES Follow the very essence of the laws (10 Commandements) or as what God says the 2 important Commandments 1st which is to Love God (the most important) and love others as ourselves. But that is a very good question my friend WHY CANT WE BE JEWS IF JESUS IS? 😊 because it stirrs up the thought of how diffucult it is for Jewish people to become Christians. But in the end If Jesus touches the hearts, mind and eyes of His people they will recognize His voice and do Gods will and believe that it is not through our own handiwork but rather in God alone. We ought to Love one another and praise God for our differences yet recognize our oneness in His presence. Amen? 😁 Shalom and God bless from Philippines -aiza
Question What are the signs the Jews will look for to know that the Messiah has come? Answer Your question about identifying the true redemption is what brought R. Abba and his fellow rabbis about 1,600 years ago (Sanhedrin 98a) to search for the “revealed/clear sign/time” of redemption – that is, as opposed to many of the other signs mentioned by the prophets which are unclear or “unrevealed”. They answer: “There is no more ‘revealed/clear sign/time’ than that which is written (Yechezkel 36, 8), ‘And you, mountains of Israel, give forth your branches, and carry forth your fruit, for My Nation of Israel is coming/returning soon’. Rashi explains that when the Land of Israel (barren for so long) will return to produce fruit abundantly, that is the clearest sign that the return of the Jewish Nation is near. The flourishing modern Land of Israel, barren just 100 years ago, speaks for itself! (see photo of Tel Aviv 100 years ago and compare here) In addition, the Talmud (Megilla 17a) explains that the second stage of geula, after the fruitful revival of the Holy Land, is the mass aliya, “kibbutz galuyot” (= the national return to the Land of Israel). The prophecy says: “the third (time) they shall remain in her (in the Land)’ (Zechariya 13, 8), upon which the Oral tradition (Midrash Tanchuma P. Shoftim 9) explains: that Israel will only resettle in their land in the third redemption. The first redemption is the redemption from Egypt, the second redemption is the redemption of Ezra (the Second Commonwealth), the third has no end”.
“For this people’s heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed; lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.’ Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen.”” Acts 28:27-28 ESV “Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:” Romans 3:29 KJV “where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.” Colossians 3:11 KJV “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:13 KJV “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”” Romans 10:12-13 ESV
Did he revive himself? Acts 2:32-33 Jesus Christ was raised by God the Father Acts 3: 14-15 God the Father has raised his Son Jesus Acts 4:10 God the Father raised Jesus Christ from the dead Acts 5: 30-31 God the Father raised up and raised up his Son Jesus Acts 10:39-40 God the Father raised up Jesus Acts 13:29-30 God the Father raised Jesus from the dead Acts 13:33-34 God the Father raised Jesus from the dead Romans 8:11 God the Father raised up his Son Jesus through the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 15:13-15 We have testified of God that he raised Christ Galatians 1:1 God the Father raised up the Son of him Jesus Christ 1 Thessalonians 1: 9-10 God the Father raised up his Son Jesus Hebrews 13:20 God the Father raised up our Lord Jesus Christ
“His name shall be called Immanuel, … God with us.” “The light of the knowledge of the glory of God” is seen “in the face of Jesus Christ.” From the days of eternity the Lord Jesus Christ was one with the Father; He was “the image of God,” the image of His greatness and majesty, “the outshining of His glory.” It was to manifest this glory that He came to our world. To this sin-darkened earth He came to reveal the light of God’s love,—to be “God with us.” Therefore it was prophesied of Him, “His name shall be called Immanuel.” American author
This man asks correct questions. What He doesn’t understand, and neither does the man asking, is that the Christians are Israelites. Because Church is the new Israel, Israel of God as Paul calls it. Jesus kept the Passover and transformed it into a New Passover in which the new Israel, the Church, doesn’t eat of the lamb but eats the miraculous Flesh of the Lamb of God.
Jesus set an example to follow. Regardless of his having been born into a Jewish family, the example he set transcended the antiquated pagan traditions that make up the Jewish faith. Things like sacrificing animals (like chickens and cows) are pagan and have no place in Christianity, because they’re pagan. These same pagan traditions are what God was angry at Jews for, and why they were banished for 40 years in the desert. We’re living in the “End Times” so it is time for ALL believers in God, to come to Christ and worship Christ as the Lord and Savior. This means treating everyone with love, something most Jews and Muslims need to learn, or be lost.
Christianity is in essence just an extension of Judaism. Christians recognize Jesus Christ as the Messiah that was prophesied in the Tanakh, whereas modern Jews deny Him. When Christ returns I hope that they will have one last opportunity to acknowledge Him as the Son of God and Messiah, so that they will be granted access to Heaven because I love my Jewish brothers and sisters.
I have been to Israel 9 times mainly in the late 1990’s. I have and heritage that includes people who were Jews. I have their blood in my genealogy. So, I am of Jewish decent. I also was saved by Yahweh, who was Yeshua. His Jewish root is in my spirit as he has placed his spirit within me. At that moment we who are saved by Yahweh become Jewish. We are grafted in. This is pretty clear to christians. Problem is this, Orthodox Jews don’t see it that way. It is as if they hold on to their Jewishness more than excepting Christians as Jews through Yahweh.
This Respondent asks great question, essentially why don’t Followers of Jesus live the same Culture ways Jesus did(= Israelite Covenant in Bible, as a descendent of Judah…). Great Question. But Jesus is focused on His followers living exactly as GOD instructed…, not as an ethinic or cultural group (ie- ‘ jewish’, etc) instruct – Big, Big Difference….
I agree with the Jewish man. If you follow Yeshua then you should live the way he did. In hebrew its called the RENEWED covenant not the NEW covenant, it’s the same covenant as before with sabbath and feast days, only we pray through Yeshua and trust him, and we keep torah the way he said and not how pharisees say we should
So this guy was right all Christians should be Jewish. Christianity should be kinda like a Chassidic sect. Because if he was indeed a follower of Torah he could only interpret gray areas but couldn’t come to undo that which was written. If not, G-d needs to go back to the Jews and tell them he changed his mind…. Either way, Jew and Christian alike we should both be looking to Torah for how to live our lives!
