Amethyst engagement rings symbolize purity, devotion to spiritualism, faith, and level-headedness. For centuries, religious figures have worn amethyst in their rings and rosaries as a sign of faith and devotion to their god. These rings offer an opportunity for couples to express their values and create a meaningful connection between them.
Amethyst is believed to enhance intelligence and wisdom, shield its wearer from evil thoughts, and be durable enough for daily wear. It ranks seven on the Mohs scale, making it a fine choice for engagement rings. However, it is not as scratch resistant as diamonds and sapphires. The color of certain amethysts can have a vintage edge, depending on the style of the ring.
The meaning of amethyst engagement rings goes beyond the beauty of the stone itself. They represent qualities such as spirituality, wisdom, sincerity, faithful love, and chastity. Choosing an amethyst engagement ring can be a beautiful way to express these values and create a meaningful connection between the couple.
Amethyst engagement rings are becoming popular worldwide as young couples find ways to meaningfully express their commitment to each other. Custom ring designs with a specific woman in mind provide an element of variety and significance that is unique to her.
In conclusion, amethyst engagement rings are more than just eye-catching jewelry; they represent a unique, multi-faceted love that values not just the emotional but also the intellectual and spiritual connection between partners.

What are the pros and cons of amethyst engagement ring?
Amethysts have pros and cons. Many people like amethysts better than diamonds because they’re brighter. “We all love diamonds,” says Mason Roberts, founder of Ringagement. “But we also love something new and beautiful.” The price is good too. “Amethyst is affordable,” says Madeline Fraser, the founder and CEO of Gemist. “Amethyst stones are cheap.” Amethyst isn’t as durable as diamonds. “It’s fairly hard—a 7 on the Mohs Scale, on which a diamond is a 10,” explains Roberts. That might be misleading. Mohs made his scale by ordering minerals from softest to hardest. Diamonds are 10 times harder than amethyst. Amethyst is strong enough for everyday wear. “It’s strong and beautiful,” says Roberts. “If you take care of it, amethyst can last a lifetime. “It couldn’t take the punishment a diamond could,” he adds. What to Look for in an Amethyst Ring. How can I tell if the ring is good quality? To find a good stone, Fraser says to look for transparency. “It should go through the stone when held up to the light,” she says. Amethysts of high quality are clear and without inclusions. Check the surface for nicks or scratches. What stones go well with amethyst? You should know which color you want since these stones can be very light or very dark. Roberts says people prefer dark purple natural amethyst gemstones. “It’s up to you. Ask if they’ve enhanced the color to make sure you don’t overpay. What cuts pair best with amethyst rings? Watch out for the cut too. “Amethysts don’t sparkle like diamonds,” says Roberts. “They should be cut well and in a way you like.” The metal you choose for your amethyst ring can affect the color. What metals pair best with amethyst rings? Fraser says certain metals make colors pop. White gold may display more blue tones, while warm metals will make the purple look richer.
How to Care for Your Amethyst Ring. Amethyst isn’t as strong as a diamond, so it can’t be worn all the time. Roberts says amethyst can fade in the sun, so don’t leave it in a sunny window. He also says to take off your ring before showering, as heat can fade the color. “Protect your ring from nicks and daily activity by removing it when you’re at the gym, swimming, or using lotions or cleaning products,” says Fraser. Store your amethyst ring away from other gemstones as it can scratch easily.
What does the amethyst ring symbolize?
Amethyst History & Meaning. A gemstone often associated with royalty because of its purple color, amethysts have been used to symbolize love, happiness, humility, sincerity, and wealth for centuries. Amethyst was once as valuable as ruby, emerald, and sapphire, but its value dropped when Brazil’s deposits were discovered in the 1800s. Today, amethyst is found in Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico, Canada, Arizona, Namibia, Morocco, and Zambia. The best amethyst comes from Africa, especially Zambia, and South America. Amethyst Colors, Characteristics & Value. Amethyst comes in many colors, from lilac to purple, reddish-purple, and bluish-purple. Its color comes from iron and aluminum in its crystal structure. Thank You!!! Angeline!!! You have a Royal Purple Amethyst Day!!! plus also, Have a Happy Easter Sunday 2023!!! I’m also a energy healer to boot!!! my name is Kelly – and I am the Reincarnation of Mary – Empress of Ancient Lemuria!!! Have a Magical Day!!! I think Amethyst is one of the most beautiful gemstones in all its color range from lilac to deep purple. It looks so good with yellow gold. I guess my only beef is the vitreous luster which in poorly cut specimens can look “glassy”. This is not a problem with the richer colored stones. A good alternative for rings is purple sapphire. Can you do a article on Tanzanite and Iolite?
TY for this article. I love anything purple. Eventhough, it’s not my birth stone, I have many amethyst jewelry that I used to wear daily til my favorite ring’s amethyst chipped & couldn’t be replaced exactly 😢 Then another necklace faded from heat (Fiorgot & wore it into a jacuzzi for 30 mins 😭). Now, I’m hoping to be able to afford a purple sapphire since it’s harder. Going to check to see if you have a article on it 💜
Thank you for the article. I am an Aquarius but didn’t know all the information about the amethyst. Didn’t know it was quartz or that it is 7/10 . Good to know . Going to ship for my birthday. Guess what it is going to be? AMETHYST! I have a huge block of it sitting in my kitchen. Love 💕 to see it shimmering ….
Hello. I recently got an Amethyst stone necklace for myself. Cause i’m born on 15th February. The stone is about an inch and a half long and half inch wide. It has varying intensity of purple, from light to deep dark purple. And it also has white and grey looking strands around the purple inside it. Is it a real Amethyst for me to be sure i have a real proper one? And could it break and wear out if i have it around my neck hanging over my chest all the time???
Diamonds are an exception to the rule of rarity, because diamonds are artificially rare, because the company De Beers(with the agreement/help of others) controls the quantity of diamonds that are made available each year, to inflate their price artificially….. And there’s gem stones, that are far rarer and better looking than diamonds, but still don’t command the prices that diamonds do, because of companies like De Beers………
Thanks for the article my friend. What are your thoughts on Rwandan amethyst? I was fortunate enough to pick some of it up from a miner from Rwanda. I’ve been cutting it and I’ve noticed that it seems to be a bit harder than typical amethyst. The color and saturation is absolutely phenomenal! From what I have observed, it appears to be metamorphosed. Perhaps this gave it more durability and hardness? Along with the Deep saturation. I would love to show you some of the pieces I have cut. My understanding they haven’t found any more for a few years now.
I just bought a pair of amethyst earrings with small amethyst drops. I’m not too happy about them as they do little for me. So thinking about returning. In the picture they looked bright medium purple. In reality I can only see the purple color if its directly against a white or black background otherwise they look transparent with just a hint of purple almost not perceived to the naked eye. Bad quality I guess? They are 3000 dollars btw and basically only gold hooks with amethyst. A luxury jewelry brand using commercial grade amethysts is almost chocking to me.
Ohhh you forget to said that diamonds are not rare at all they are everywhere around the world Africa, Australia, Brazil, Nueva Guinea, United States, and many other countries without counting the ones mined under the sea. Tell the public the real monopoly history of diamonds and the manipulation of the price and why the people think diamonds are so expensive. Diamonds in reality are expensive by manipulation but they not rare at all 😉
