Why was Osbert hidden?

Osbert didn’t do much for the movie. Seven Kings Must Die focused on Edwards sons, Aethelstan and Aelfweard, and their desire for the throne. Aelfweard chose to yield, but his brother killed him. Aethelstan tried to keep power and control his destiny. He killed friends, captured Osbert and Edmund, and banished Uhtred to the Shetlands. Osbert was found safe and hidden to ensure their survival.
