Does divorce mean breakup?

A breakup is when a relationship ends. Dumping someone is when one partner leaves the other. The term is less likely to be used for married couples, where a breakup is called a separation or divorce.

Break up redirects here. See Break Up for other uses. A relationship breakup is the end of a relationship. Dumping someone is slang for when one partner leaves the other. It’s less common in married couples, where it’s called a separation or divorce. When a couple breaks up before getting married, it is called a broken engagement. People often think of breakups as romantic, but there are also non-romantic and platonic breakups. These are usually caused by a lack of friendship. Susie Orbach says that the dissolution of dating and cohabiting relationships can be as painful as or more painful than divorce because these nonmarital relationships are less socially recognized.

  • Do not be deceived people… Marriage is a LIFELONG commitment. Before you jump the broom to say I do, you better make sure that it’s with the person you plan to commit to for a lifetime! This society has normalized divorce and it’s sad. I don’t get how a failed marriage can be considered a success??? That’s madness!

  • I thought I was in the same place and almost ended my marriage. I then realized my husband had nothing to do with my happiness- that was all on me. I was happy before I met him, and I was happy when I met him, so he nor the marriage subtracted from my happiness. I was almost deceived to think he was the reason I started feeling unhappy. Through Jesus and therapy, I found my happiness again with him being by my side to enjoy it with me. Now, we’re happy together again! Sometimes, weathering the storm isn’t easy, but the sun does eventually shine again. I noticed Tia hasn’t professed to be Christian in years. That may have something to do with it too.

  • I will Never Normalize unhappiness. Seasons change. People change… What you Put up with in your 20’s and 30’s Seems Different in Your 40’s. She Looks Way Happier Now then when she was with Him. Marriage is Not for Everyone. And Hear this Women. The Only One who will Ever Love ❤️ You Unconditionally is Jesus! He Literally Died 4 You. Respectfully Single.Happy.and Proud🙏🏾

  • It is ignorant to marry for happiness. Happiness is a result of what is happening. Been married 16 yrs, challenges have come but instead of focusing on trying to be happy in those challenges, we focused on our love, true commitment to God and our vows. And NO he or I never cheated but even if that was the case, I’m committed to my vow, hard work, love, growth and joy which my Bible tells me that this world didn’t give and cannot take away.

  • I’m seeing a lot of post concerning marriage and it being a life long commitment, but I have seen and known way too many women/men who have tried and tried in their marriages and wasted so much time trying to stick with a marriage that is no longer serving it’s purpose. People are unhappy trying to MAKE it work.

  • My parents are almost in their 70’s, they coexist in the same house and live a very separate life from each other. They do have the same friends from 60 years ago and will attend events with each other. It works for some people but if you are ready to really move on and start a new life, do it for your own sanity.

  • Tia is handling this very well and i applaud her. She is not acting bitter or like a woman scorned. I believe she is giving women who are in toxic marriages feeling stuck hope again. To stay in a marriage for image or convenience is unhealthy. She realized life is short and if she isn’t getting what she wants now then she most likely never will. If she doesn’t look out for her happiness who will.

  • I’m so happy for her. No need to stay in a non full filling relationship. I admire how she’s keeping whatever that went wrong under wraps because she’s aware that her children will see this and how she handled it and out of respect for her ex. It really isn’t any of our business to know what really happened but Im sure she sought help and advice and concluded that her reason was serious enough to come to end it. No reason to stay miserable to prove to the world that your happily married. Good on her.

  • Tia seemed like she was holding back tears. Like she really wants to cry. She is trying really hard to remain strong. That’s good but stop coming on these shows, social media and doing interviews. Then you won’t feel the need to prove to everyone that your fine. Divorce is hard and unpleasant enough. Without having to explain and convince everyone that your good.

  • Thé deaths she is talking about happened over five years ago. So if that caused her to take a deeper look at her life and marriage also means she’s been unhappy for sometime and tried to work it out for awhile before leaving, that’s why she seems to have processed the ending of her marriage quickly, but it wasn’t a quick decision.

  • Big up to people when their marriage is facing the storm they stick through it I was perusal how people who are celebrating 50 and 60 add years in marriage and just say to myself these are people who stay in these long marriages go through for better and for worst they stand firm in their commitment I just say this is type of marriage I want to have .

  • How is, being married for 14 years, waisting each others time and putting kids in the middle of it, a successful marriage? How did you, after 14 years, decide that it was time to put yourself first? That should’ve happened BEFORE marriage and children. I wish the best for the family but this just breaks my heart. Then on top of that, your getting so much attention from it… This world glorifies divorce and a whole lot more things that are just down right sad

  • When you know, you know, the realization came to me when I was looking at old pictures of me how happy and how much I smiled on those pictures compared to my pictures a couple of years after I got married I was barely smiling and you could see the unhappiness on my face. I wasn’t my old self, I was changing who I was to make someone else happy but I was miserable.

  • Why can’t people have self love and still maintain a happy and healthy marriage? So many people get married/even get into a relationship because the person ” makes them happy” you have to be genuinely happy with you, your husband/wife should only add to your happiness, they should not be the ultimate reason your happy. This is why divorce rate is thru the roof. When you have learned to truly be happy with yourself, your can then enhance your happiness as a collective

  • I’m in that phase of really checking in with myself because I feel that same sadness she was talking about and always taking care of other people and not myself. Luckily im not married nor have kids, so my decisions wont effect others around me and it’s easier to make those changes. Please take.your time in life and don’t rush to have all the things ppl are told we should have. If we’re meant to have a family and kids it will happen when it happens. Find who you are and chase after that first.

  • If you read between the lines you can tell that Corey was good to her. She was dealing and possibly still dealing with the loss of close loved ones and now shes dealing with her own mortality so she wants to live her life for her. Women are celebrating her actions and missing what marriage is all about. 14 years is a long time and to leave your partner who loved you and did right by you and his children is not something to celebrate. I empathize with her cause many of us deal with loss. Some more than others. We all cope with loss differently. I feel sorry for Corey that he lost the love of his life. Sending healing energy to both of them.

  • I read that he wouldn’t help pay bills, and I read something about an allegation of him cheating. I don’t know that to be true, it was something read, but kudos to her for not speaking badly about him, because all that matters are the kids, and her happiness. I wish her nothing but the best, and I’m sure that she will find happiness again, if she isn’t already happy.

  • This situation is between her and her husband, the most important in a marriage is to put God first, and communicate, communicate, communicate. Couples today seem like they like the easy way out, if you aren’t being abused verbally and physically, understand to get out And f it can be worked out, try to work in it, and if you love the person which is more important as well, then it can work. But today divorce is so glorified and if I’m unhappy, get out of it. That is your choice, but no one gives marriage a chance anymore, seem like some goes with the flow, everyone else getting a divorce, so I guess I will also.. Pray Tia find happiness in whatever she is seeking.

  • When you get married you make a covenant not only with the person but God. It’s not about self, it’s about each other… better or worst, sickness and in health… If he did not abuse her, or cheat… just walking away to find yourself with two children seems very self-absorbed. Ijs… since she continues to put this narrative out there. Marriage is not until you want something different or now I’m different.

  • I get it. It doesn’t matter how much money I make, even if it’s legacy money I want a man actively contributing to the household not thinking it’s okay to live off me while they try to save their money and lead a selfish life because “I can afford it”. Tia did the right thing. No matter how nice of a guy he is, financial abuse is a real thing

  • Do you Tia❤. When a chapter ends it ends and you the author of your own life. Falling out of love with someone is a natural feeling and it’s not always about them but it could be about yourself. The world is big and there’s a lot to explore and experience and sometimes we just need that independence to do it. ❤

  • I’m not going to argue with people in the comments but for the people that don’t seem to get it here’s the bottom line..she was already a successful actor who married a man who was broke at the time and settled for him, he didn’t contribute much to the marriage and she was carrying a heavy load of basically providing for her whole family for years with no help from him, she also loved him more than he loved her which never works out. She obviously can see that it’s time to move on and possibly find a better man who will actually provide for her and truly love her for who she is and not what she can give him. Women do deserve happiness you know.

  • Such a great thought and being able to realize and do something to make changes to better your life is awesome thanks I needed that reminder that I’m more then just a mother sister aunt wife friend….I’m me and I need more self love…. God bless all woman…. we are strong for so much more then what we think

  • Tia and Tamera both are such amazing women and mothers. You can tell just how great their parents were at raising them as well as their brothers. I’ve been a fan of them ever since Sister, Sister and all of the other roles they had especially when I was growing up. I loved their episode of “Are You Afraid of the Dark” and I loved their reality show they had. I’m still so bummed that The Real was cancelled as well. I know Tamera had left by the time the show ended but I absolutely loved that talk show. I wish Tia all the best! ❤ She seems like she has a great outlook on life. I’m sure her and Cory will be great at coparenting.

  • I’m so proud of Tia,she is admitting this is a challenge. But at the end of the day. Cory is no longer her parents. But her children’s father for life. That still makes him family with all that she is looking ahead, and working on loving tia as a single mother, and human beings. She is choosing to be happy. I’m loving her strength right now. Many prayers of strength Tia❤❤❤

  • I love Tía, and I wish her the best. But literally grew up perusal her ACT and she is staying strong and she is giving us her best…. But we know she is acting. It’s too much too soon and maybe she never really tells us and that’s okay. But stuff she mentions would usually bring a couple closer….. UNLESS something did happen. Either way I myself am sad about it bc had to be something huge. Hope she heals soon and continues stronger 💕🙏🏽

  • Good for you Tia. Folks do what’s most healthy for yourself and ultimately that decision will be best for everyone else involved. Definitely more to the story. What I will say is that once you start doing that internal work, your soul will not allow you nor want you to remain in the same energy/position/environment. It will force you to move forward, especially so if that other person isn’t on the same path. Everyone we get involved with and even marry isn’t meant to be “forever” sometimes they are lessons. We learn and move forward.

  • Those vows are to be acted upon. It’s not about a feeling. Feelings come and go all the time for many reasons. For better, for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part. People only go by feelings. Marriage is work, 24/7 365 days a year. If it’s abusive or there’s habitual cheating, then yes, leave it. Otherwise, work it out!

  • Tia went from an Adorable Twin to a Fully Grown Woman who is a Classy Top Shelf Act. She is being fair with the Public without allowing it to invade her personal Peace or violating the wellbeing of her Family. Mama Bear vibes stay on high at all times. Even though their marriage is no more, they are learning to become family in a new way. I’m glad she is going to allow herself to enjoy her own energy, it’s well deserved. Divorce isn’t the resolution in all relationships but if it has to be may it be amicable.

  • Wow this is what happens when society is obsessed with their own happiness. I wonder why don’t they add that line to the vows moving forward, “You need to be happy and it’s all about your happiness in this marriage” and the moment you dont experience happiness, get a divorce. Marriage is about dying to self. I wonder if her children are happy? Is Corey happy? But as long as she is happy that’s all that matters right? Mxm New Age has damaged the way people think. The Bible says in the last days man will be lovers of themselves

  • I know there’s more to it than what this sip of info she gave. However, you can work on your happiness while being in a committed relationship. It’s called making room for growing. Both people must commit to this more than anything, because we don’t know what will come at us in life. So, allowing people to conform to the new part is necessary. I believe there’s more layers to this than “I need to be happy”. No, I’m not hinting at anyone cheating.

  • Marriage is not meant to be self fulfilling…..it’s SO sad to see this over and over again. I can not imagine breaking vows I made before God and my husband because I don’t ‘feel’ happy all the time. I’ve had dark days in my marriage and wanted to escape but there is a greater purpose than myself. I’m not the center of my world. My son and my husband and my testimony are SO important to me, I fiercely protect my marriage.

  • I CANT REALTE. ME AND MY HUBBY WENT THE OPPOSITE. WE WENT THRU SHIT WAS DAMN NEAR ENEMIES FIRST 10 YEARS. THEN I CHANGED HE CHANGED. WE GOT COUNSELING TOGETHER AND SEPARATE. AND EVERYTHING NEGATIVE TURNED TO POSITIVE .WE KEPT FAMILY AT ARMS LENGH.BECUASE ITS ALWAYS DRAMA.I HANDLED MY VUNERABILITY ISSUES OPENED UP.AND THE FLOOD GATES OPENED.I PRAYED EVERY DAY.NOW WE HAVE SO MUCH PEACE AND SO MUCH NASTY FREAKY ASS SHENANIGANS. WE GREW THE FUCK UP FOR REAL .AND IM SO DAMN HAPPY SO IT HE.WE LEARNED TO RESPECT EACH OTHER DIFFERENCES INSTEAD OF TRYING TO CONTROL ONE ANOTHER. BEEN TOGETHER SINCE 19 SO WE GREW UP.THATS MY BEST FRIEND IM HIS

  • Y’all pay attention! Way before they divorced she was serving herself on a silver platter on social media. It was obvious by her actions she has been screaming for attention for a long time. Maybe he wasn’t giving her the attention she wanted. Not certain, but I can definitely tell when someone has placed themselves back on the market.

  • He said something to the effect of making decisions based off emotions will hurt you everytime. Think a lot of these women are playing themselves with this I wasn’t happy stuff because of all these outlets where they are stacking all this fake validation and these gurus who tell you your not happy and there is always something better instead of having appreciation for what you have. It’s going to be somebody out there checking for her because she’s a celeb, but if she wasn’t then she might have a lot of regrets.

  • When you say you want to seek happiness and grow,I think that can be done within the confines of marriage. If you find out you’ve been leaving for your husband, children, friends and siblings and you say you want to start living authentically then you leave a marriage but don’t leave your siblings and children then it’s not authentic living that’s the problem. Ten there’s something about the man she isn’t telling us. Nevertheless,I wish them well individually

  • Her focusing on her, made her realize that she was the only one focused on her. That her partner wasn’t pouring into her like she was him. I’d like to believe she expressed this to him and nothing changed. She realized complacency settled in. It’s states in the Bible, yessss the Bible, I know, a book no one today cares to actually study. But I will forever stand on God’s word. Anywho it’s states that Man because sin shall rule over the woman. Even with being equally yoked, we are still to be ruled over by our husbands, granted married, and be his HELPMATE. Strong independent women ain’t with that. Because we end being neglected, disrespected mistreated and displaced, in being the help mate. Basic instructions before leaving earth. 🤞🏾🙏🏾💯💪🏾🙌🏾

  • Tia is a selfish person. She knew her sister was coming out with a book and on that same day she decided to announce her divorce. Really? But, days before she was portraying a picture perfect marriage. Come on! Once again she wanted the attention on her. Hope you all bought TAMERA’S BOOK! BECAUSE I DID!!

  • It’s the Awakening for me, I’m here now. Leaving a seven in a half yrs relationship,We have no kids together,So it’s more easy to move on with our lives. I couldn’t take another day of him throwing up my past,I couldn’t take it another day of him telling me I’ll never be nothing more than a piece of a##,It was years of hearing those words,So I finally said enough is enough,And he’s still trying to figure out,Why I chose to walk away🤦🏽‍♀️🙏🏽umm sir I’m 41 years young, and My peace means everything to me. I am really happy for her,Praying for the both of them in Jesus name amen 🙏🏽💪🏾💫💗.

  • Love is good and it’s important to love others too but also to love God first, yourself & others ❤ Marriage is for life and between one man and one woman So sad divorce was never supposed to be. Being married ia putting the other spouse first and loving them and trying to help each other become the best version of themselves. One of the most painful things to go through 😭

  • He doesn’t have much of a personality and never really seemed that interested in her. It’s not about relying on someone else to make you happy. It’s about not wasting your life beside someone who doesn’t add anything to your life and could even be bringing you down and holding you back. Who wants to be going through the motions in a loveless marriage, existing but not living life when you never know when it could be your last day on earth. Tamera and her husband look in love, but I never got that feeling from Tia and Cory.

  • A supportive, present partner makes it possible for you to have enough self-care in the balance. When that’s missing and it’s not changing after 2 decades together, people just have to accept that she made the best choice for her and her family and stop trying to impose their own values & decisions on others.

  • The wearer of a particular shoe knows best where it pinches. Onlookers should not judge the wearer for wanting to take his foot out of it. We can’t tell him ‘you bought it; you’re committed to wearing it for its life time’. Some of us liked Cory and Tia together with their lovely children. It grieves our hearts that they’re divorcing but we can’t force them to stay together and we shouldn’t apportion blame to either of them in their union. We should pray that they find healing and peace from The Spirit of God to co-parent well so their children will be happy and well-adjusted. Staying in a marriage because it’s ’till death do us part’ when you both know that the union is bringing you both great distress is not advisable. This couple who obviously still love each other must have discussed how they felt in their union. If they can’t fix what’s wrong, our comments here (well intentioned or not) cannot do so. God knows best. I just watched on television a couple in their late sixties and early seventies re-marry after 41 years apart. It was a joyous occasion for the families who knew that the couple, who must have married in their twenties, never stopped loving each even though they went their separate ways.

  • I definitely understand Tia. She out grew him. They had their ups and downs and I can tell she has no hard feelings but they are not on eachothers level. She is on a spiritual journey like myself and it’s a true calling from God. She stepped into her higher self (awakening) and likely he didn’t. I think she would love tarot and she should definitely learn about twin flames <---Big word that the world will be hearing a lot more about soon. I'm proud of Tia. She is amazing and always have been i'm loving her new glow-up #RiseUp

  • She spoke but said nothing at all. After having children and spending that long with another human choosing to walk away is not an easy decision. She appears almost relieved to be honest. Good for her. Lol could have just declined to speak on the matter because she said nothing. You can be happy with a husband and kids while also being an individual in your own right if there is teamwork and you two have the same relationship goals. O well.

  • When you lack gratitude, you can’t find happiness no matter who you are with. One can loose the best things in their life just because they’re not able to know or acknowledge the things they’re blessed with. I hope she gets what she thinks she deserves but Cory seems like a very decent, low key and devoted family guy; he has not said a word since the news break out about their split. He has displayed decency, integrity and respect this entire time; he’s obviously a great guy. I’m a woman, a wife and a mother of a young boy, and I hope and pray for God to grant them both what they deserve

  • I honestly heard what she had to say and if these are the reasons she walked away from her marriage for self love then I only heard about her personal needs and not family unfortunately when we take thise vows then unless its abuse physical or emotional, neglect and infidelity which to some its the end then yes pack your bags but going off what she just said and we know she has two children and a husband one wonders if she wanted to fight for her marriage at all, one can find self love within her marriage you dont need to walk away, take your spouse along to help get it together, express whats missing for you to feel happy again if lookingat your children and husband does not do it for you let him help you, get professional help if needed but you gotta put in the effortespecially your the one lookingat walking away..anyway it’s sad for the children all around and this comment she said looking out for other women self empowerment no baby girl- thats not it at all just be honest as to why your walking away youvstill have the right but its you addressing the public and talking about it so naturally people are going to have some opinions on the subject vs you not telling them a thing and you retain the mistry but that’s nit what she chose todo …just wish them the best.

  • I feel society dictates what life & happiness should be. & sometimes people’s goals are just that. I don’t think a lot of people are aware of what marriage takes, because their too focus on finishing school, get a job, get married & have children. Covid has allowed many to focus, look inside & figure out what life can look like for them. I think if a lot of women were honest what society says is good, they might have chosen a different path to genuinely be themselves & pursue their own happiness, whatever that looks like!

  • Don’t let people make you feel bad for choosing to love yourself and your children over a man that truly does not want to be married to you any longer. Marriage is hard work but both people have to give 100% or it will not work. If that man no longer wants to be married to you he will cheat, and disrespect you. Let him have his divorce. You can’t make someone love you. Be married for 25 years but 24 of those years he/she been cheating and being roommates because neither one of them want each other anymore just to prove to everyone they stayed married 😳

  • Hollywood is telling them it’s all about self. She said it it’s all about self love all about what you want and while it’s important to love yourself and put yourself first sometimes. Selfishness has no place in relationship it’s only a matter of time before it crumbles I think the true reason is she has been carrying the financial strain for a while and it finally took it’s toll she sees how these modern women talking about what their men did for them and what u should expect from your man it got to her wish her the best though

  • There is nothing wrong with finding yourself and your happiness, it’s called evolving. I feel like there something about this lady that says she is going through a phase she does not want to accept. I don’t think her husband was perfect through their lives and also she has not been perfect. My opinion: She is used to being the better and great actor between the two of them, the husband with his background he lived a life of being under her shadow and now that his consistency in the industry is paying out the wife does not know how to receive it and ego says to her it will be better to walk away.

  • Sincerely, her reasons do not make sense. It is so selfish when people only live for themselves. This was pure act of selfishness. There is no absolute good reason for the divorce. At the moment, the young man is affected, their children are affected. Some friends and family who looked up to them are affected. She only thought of herself. Really, if anyone will take such advice, then you are selfish too and blinded. Love is more than feelings. Love is beautiful when it is shared. God help the world. It keeps getting darker😢. I am so upset for such a flimsy reason( after 14 years 😡) Gross!!!!

  • Since this is the example that’s posted, it really seems like Tia and some of her surrounding close friends…. It’s sad to make it seem like SHE couldn’t grieve, or even grow and evolve as a Woman WITHOUT still being Married. It TRULY seems like Tia has so much hurt and pain but instead of truly listening to God, she’s listening to naysayers. You can DEFINITELY have a successful marriage and change and grow and be different and do it with your spouse. It sucks to see them end their marriage. Happiness is different from Joy. I pray for clarity and MUCH forgiveness for them with each other. I can’t and won’t diagnose them. But how she is speaking, it truly sounds like some healing needs to be had for her and him.

  • I guess that’s why I’m terrified to get married. Because I do believe if I marry someone, my goal is to learn about them for the rest of our lives. I would be crushed if my partner just up and said “welp, it’s been real ✌🏾”…….TF! I don’t get people. This is literally why I’m 40 with no kids. I just can’t handle that type of gambling with my life.

  • Good for Tia! Listening to what she said, she seems happy! Isn’t that what matters?? Can we please retire the narrative that God is handing out rewards specifically to people who are ‘married but miserable’? I don’t believe it is safe to stay in a relationship that drains you to your wits end. At least, that’s not how I want to live my life, nor would what I’d want my kids to emulate. Beyond that, nobody knows what REALLY goes down in someone else’s life. How hard their fight was. People DO grow and change. Romantic relationships in particular can produce rapid growth. And yes, you can still have respect for each other while knowing it’s time to move on. Joy matters. Peace matters. How heartbreaking it is to know your dream with that person can’t live on. But how “well” we suffer should not be the measuring stick for healthy or good relationships. Love and wholeness should be. The question is: “Can I be the fullest version of myself in this relationship?” (See Shan Boody 4 quote) If you know in your soul, that answer is no longer yes, then it’s time to piece out. ✌️💙💯 #protectyourpeace #selfloveissacred #emotionalintelligencematters #defineyourownsuccess #lifeistooshortforbs

  • Wishing them BOTH the Best! Sometimes this happens when you rely on a person, a place, or thing to make you happy! YOU are responsible for your own happiness, YOU control that. NO one else should be responsible for that! I believe like she said she looked over her life she was a child star, married young, had kids, and prob was supportive to her family and friends. She is almost 40 and looking over her life doesn’t want to have regrets….. I totally get that. I also believe she is choosing her which is why she dropped her divorce info knowing her sister was dropping her book, normally she probably would have waited but she showed she is being unapologetic and authentically her WITHOUT taking others into consideration. 🤎 I had a similar epiphany on my Solo Birthday trip this year which is why I started Journey To A Better You. • As women sometimes we gotta do more than say how much we learned about life and “looking inward” and being super deep and just realize some things we may have done wrong and take accountability. When I hear her tell the story of seeing him at a bus stop and her sister picking him up, it just sounds like she was physically attracted to someone not on her level economically or established but thought she could build a husband. She had the masculine energy and did the picking and providing. Today we call it “struggling w our man” “being a ride or die” but it’s an excuse to date out of desperation instead of aligning ourselves and waiting for someone equally yoked to put forth masculine energy and thoughtfully consider us and be in a place to do the things a husband does like provide. I know this comment will likely get hate but you can see Cory get tired of the loss of his masculinity when in the interview he said “let me speak”. Those few words said a lot about their relationship. Tia is an actress and self centered by nature and you can see glimpses of her selfishness on her reality show w tamera. In every interview she goes on and on and I could imagine anyone getting tired of being an extra In her movie. No I don’t know them but I long noticed Tia dynamic w her sister and w ppl on their reality show. I don’t think Cory is the bad guy ppl are portraying. Maybe their was love their but he seemed to feel indebted to her not in love w her and tolerated her for years. We can’t always run w the narrative that it’s always a man fault…Tia started the relationship by picking him up like a wounded bird she could fix…she chose a man that needed fixing rather than a man who had accomplished his goals and was ready to be a husband.

  • I asked my husband the other day how could you stand to be with me let along stay married to me for 15 years..his reply, I knew you would change what a strong word.. honestly I was so selfish, always put my self first, which is not a bad thing..but never I mean ever considered his feelings..what I trying to say is no one wants to fight for marriage anymore, just want to throw in the towel and call is a day..shit takes work but it’s worth it if u see the potential in that person..

  • AWESOME KNOW WHEN TO LET GO WOMEN 💕 There is NOTHING that says that we have to be unhappy .. sad .. unfulfilled …. SELF FIRST … I remember when Oprah had her show and did and episode about women putting themselves first .. the backlash she got .. and now fast forward … HER WE ARE 🎉🥳 Women NEED to be happy .. inside first …

  • I think nowadays, folk who weren’t inherently selfish are jumping on that train, left and right, because it’s now acceptable to give up on ANY commitment made, at ANY point, for ANY reason. So, it didn’t matter what effect it will have on your spouse or children, YOU DO YOU, BOO. Everything and everyone else will just have to follow suit. YOUR truth, YOUR desires, YOUR happiness and peace are what matter, after all. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I come from a broken home of parents who decided their desires went above our needs as children and my siblings and I are STILL affected, today. My parents are verbally regretful to us, but there’s nothing that can remedy the anything, although I am grateful for their regret and apologies to us, even if they did come after mental/ emotional breakdowns. We CANNOT JUST think about ourselves in these matters, society. We CANNOT.

  • With all due respect this is a very fluffy response very Hollywood, to be honest EVERY WOMAN who is also a Mother and reaches this age reflects, happiness is an emotion that can change like the wind, we must be careful. I hope she doesn’t regret this, I wish her family including Cory the very best🙏🏽

  • All I’m going to say is there always two sides to a story and this story has a lot a gaps she doing all the talking trying to convince herself and he’s sitting back quietly girl just do you and stop all the extra shenanigans because now even though it’s not the public business you’re making us look at you 🤔crazy sometimes it’s better too just keep quiet

  • I really believe that people living theirs lives out on social media contributes to alot of breakups. She made a social media post defending trans gender kids and boys having the right to wear dresses and finger nail polish at school. I knew the writing was on the wall then. I don’t think that Corey was comfortable with her statements at all. I’m sure she felt she was doing something to help stop bullying. But she should have spoke with him first. They are both beautiful people. I hope that with time and counseling they may reconsider getting back together.🙏🙏🙏

  • At the end of the day it is NOT about self love! When we old and grey we want to look around a room full Of family! Our Children that have all grown up and made their own way! Started relationships and had multiple kids so there is our children, grandchildren and significant others we’ve come to know and love all in one room laughing eating and getting along! and as women/mothers we look around fulfilled that we created this moment of family and togetherness meaning these people would not be here/alive if not for our roles as child bearing mothers!Ideally the man that helped us would be right there as well with a grandchild on his lap! This is what life is about! When it’s time to kick the bucket and we are on our death bed none of us wished we made more money or wished we had pampered ourselves more or spend more money on ourselves and bought this or that! We wished we would have “fixed it” with that person! Spent more time with people and less time working! Or wished we had more time on earth for the grandchildren! This world is extremely selfish these days it’s ridiculous! Her kids will grow and be on their own and leave and a lot of women with the mindset like her will Just grow old and alone, probably with the exception of a couple cats.

  • Divorcing my ex husband was the best act of love that I could give myself and my child for a happy future. It’s not a choice that is taken lightly, but It can be necessary when you are not receiving what you need from the commitment. Marriage should be a venture together with love, support, and growth….not a prison sentence. Forgive yourself for what you didn’t know when you got married and honor yourself for who you are today. Your children are perusal (and learning).

  • Tia found that man at the side of the road waiting for the bus and helped him with his career. They’ve been together for a long time I’m sure she has really thought about it tried to fight for her marriage so save the bs. Yes marriage is sacred but you don’t have to suffer and be unhappy. Y’all are very nasty in the comments for no reason and it’s weird.

  • As much as I love Tia. She is making a selfish choice. She can do all that stuff without leaving her husband. The worst thing for a marriage is when someone “loves themselves” marriage isn’t about loving yourself more…marriage is sacrifice and there are moments where you give up your happiness, that happens in life, but a couple over comes that.

  • WOW life these days we keep playing the selfishness. I am a divorced woman and I don’t seem to understand this explanation she has provided about self. I am not in their relationship to comment much but a marriage deserves more than saying it’s time for me. Is this what we are teaching our children now

  • She is crazy. If the man isnt abusing you or your children. Happiness is not a good reason. What makes you special. If everywoman does that there will be no family. I felt like that and left my husband for a while. I did feel free. But what i also felt was lonely and guilty and not loved and selfish. Now i back with my husband. Being in marriage with someone is difficult but a lifelong commitment. Why didnt she divorce her kids? Because its a lifelong commitment.

  • A success my ass anything to make her leaving her husband of 14 years an excuse. It wouldn’t have been funny if he would left her. Co parenting is a failure just in the word itself. It means that you are no longer seeing your kids everyday. Women play to many game and we as men are tired of it stop begging us for marriage if you aren’t going to stay.

  • When you are going through difficult times in your life, don’t isolate yourself. There are people who have been through what you might be facing right now and they overcame it. Don’t push people away, surround yourself with people who are spiritually mature and get the help that you need. Isolation when you are in pain and don’t know if there’s a way out is dangerous and that’s why we have suicide cases. Listen, there’s nothing that you can be facing that God is not able to solve for with God nothing is impossible. Hold on. Jesus loves you.

  • Society and social media, give marriages and long-term partners like Tis and her ex so many options. And a lot of folks don’t have a village that takes matters seriously for couples. Western culture misses out on the traditional support in these spaces and conversations. instead, offer. more ways out separately. Not saying being responsible for someone else’s marriage but everyone sharing a responsibility (those valued in the community, mentor, elders, etc..). Relationships have to thrive for the village to benefit from their gifts. The real village would do anything in its capacity to make a relationship work ..IF it’s fixable. It may not be fixable for them but for many, yes. With those calling quits and “grass is greener on the other side” and “boss independence, praising single parenthood” mentality ultimately some make poor decisions just because options are out there. Thinking they are missing out. Breaking up Instead of facing things (person) head-on. Unresolved problems don’t disappear they will keep reappearing where ever you go. Again, this is. not applicable to all There is definitely NO GLORY IN SUFFERING.

  • You should already know your value and worth BEFORE you get married because you made an oath, a vow, to LOVE and remain by your partners side until death do you part. People are treating marriage like a job you can quit. It’s sad and this shouldn’t be praised. She didn’t get cheated on, or abused. She married someone who she knew for a long long time, and had kids with. Now, she doesn’t wanna do it anymore? 😒 smh.

  • Any man seeing these women in comments and still decide to marry any of these new age women you’re playing yourself… they are not loyal to your commitment they are only in for their own. Like Chris Rock said “A man is only loved conditionally” so men don’t play yourself because you’re always going to be the big bad wolf

  • I’d suggest for anyone that wants to focus on their own happiness to probably not get married. So much compromise is needed in marriage as it’s not just you in the union. It’s you and another person and possibly kids, so while you can focus on you, there’s also others around you especially your kids. Sacrifices are needed. BUT I have no idea what truly ended their marriage it’s beyond a “me focus on my happiness”

  • She also said marriage is like a course you study for and then you graduate to new pastures. …..her words…I don’t deny her her happiness, value and self worth. The question is did she tell her husband there will be a graduation period where he will no longer be in the picture. This guy I’m sure is not without faults but I’m sure in his mind he wanted to build a life and family with someone. He always spoke about his forever love.. in his IGs. Did he rob her from happiness…it does not sound like it. His life was part of hers and became a partnership. It sounds more like someone who was married but single. So I wonder what does she expect from the next guy, cause the guy cannot give you happiness, he cannot control your moods, only your own mindset can. However as ” sucessful” as that marriage was, where do the kids fit in and what do they make of marriage. Maybe marriage is not for everybody as the commitment is just too much.

  • She is still out to hear her talking about this man. he is growing Tia. You do not have a job and you showing a lot of jealousy. Nobody wants to hear. please let this man focus on his job with All-American Homecoming. I do not want this show to cancel him because of you. This show must go on. The first show in a long time with all-back actors that shows they craft and get along with each other well! Find something constructive to do.

  • You all realize tia is not the type to bash her husband and light heartedly is touching on her divorce. But we all all taking what she’s saying in the public and semi judging for her decision. Lemme tell you something twin or not, the fact that Tamara is backing up her sister 100 percent on the marriage regardless of blood tells you all you need to know

  • Of course I don’t know the whole story and these are clips, but I definitely want to say you don’t need to divorce someone to have happiness and peace for yourself as long as there’s no abuse or anything like that. Yeah moms/wives tend to give and give or take care of others but that’s when the whole family adjusts to mom’s/ wife’s needs. All I can’t think is he wasn’t on board with her needs or something else was truly wrong. That hurts my heart. Wish the best for the children. Hope she and their father have inner healing and peace. They were JUST on “Black Love”

  • Also you guys should look at marriages like The Beveres( they had issues the first few years of their marriage, they made it work). They are so happy. Look at the Caines, the Eneches and so many other marriages in the world. Some marriages went through worse and all because of self-love and two people dieing. That is absolutely crazy 😂. I pity people who just make decisions out of self love. Love is God and God has told us to love people. There is so much beauty in sharing love with friends,a partner and even a stranger. God help this fallen world 😭. Anyways I choose love through God’s way now and always. Self love really steals the joy of life.

  • Personally I don’t see a problem with divorcing if you are truly not happy. Times have changed and people are more free, people are more independent. People from long ago depended on each other for survival, even if they were not happy they had to remain in miserable marriages. Divorce is an option and a freedom that exists in this day in age. Life is too short to be unhappy

  • Happiness???????? Is this a joke. Not hearing a real reason. I’m glad our parents, grandparents and ancestors didn’t break up a family over self love, authenticity and happiness. So authentic to go out find yourself and now co parent, having some other woman over your kids and bringing another daddy to raise your children. Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In response to all those….”Marriage is lifelong and God stamped” people out there because too many replies I can’t respond to some. Lol And nobody knows for sure who they are with sometimes because people change. We normalized divorce because at one time our society normalized abuse by men! Not saying that’s the case here but I can guarantee u it is the case for quite a few. A failed marriage can definitely be a success when you come out of something that was toxic and you heal from it. Just because YOU see it differently doesn’t mean it is wrong for anyone else. Marriage is just a piece of paper submitted to the gov anyway. It’s the commitment that matters the most. So there wouldn’t be so many failed marriages if our society would stop putting so much pressure on women to stay no matter what. 🤷‍♀️

  • I think she finally enjoying Tia. Us as wives, and mothers, whatever our careers bring, our personal identity gets lost in the journey. She rediscovering Tia with still be all the other thing, she is put herself first somewhat, but not for getting her family. I love how she and her children father handling their departure as husband and wife. I think it’s beautiful, and there showing Hollywood up! And it’s nobody business but their’s anyway! I pray happiness and balance for their family. They making the shift look Flawless and still love each other. That’s a place the world will never understand by the Kingdom of God standards.

  • They have very different personalities. She is outgoing and expects a vivacious life. He is an introvert. When the physical attraction is not enough to keep the marriage going ppl like Tia get bored. That’s when a marriage gets tested. Weathering through the storm is so much more important. But sometimes weathering through the storm is not for everyone. So they made that decision and it’s their thing. YOLO.

  • I’m so confused with stories on the topic of divorce. You don’t have all the answers for joy, peace, & happiness. Perhaps they wasn’t each others person all along and just continued moving through the marriage with moments of happiness but wasn’t really any of it. You can be in a relationship and in pure bliss and alone with the same emotion. Experiencing both is a blessing. I think some people didn’t give themselves time to grow whole before getting married then get to a point in life/ marriage hitting a plateau. I’ve learned you have to be a whole person no matter what. If it’s just you or with someone else. Nothing wrong with deciding the marriage doesnt work anymore but I just hope her views on love and relationships doesn’t block her from loving someone again 🤍

  • Notice how she said that women make everybody happy, and then gave a list: children, themselves, and their friends. Not once did she say that the focus of a woman would be to make her husband happy. And to say that you’re family oriented but you also want to focus on your career all men know that you can’t have both that was actually a teachable lesson in parenthood that sometimes the provider is out providing and can’t be at home with you. So from a family dynamic standpoint, you kind of can’t focus on both.

  • We live in a day where everyone wants to be praised for whatever lifestyle or decision they make … a divorce doesn’t equal a successful marriage Tia….. I came from parents who were married 47 years until my father died… trust and believe times weren’t always peaches and cream but with God at the center and a serious dedication to live true to their promise, they made it. Hollywood is not my example of how to live. Sorry not sorry .

  • Not a fan of her reasoning she says why she decided to end her marriage. Not the best message to be putting out there for people to hear. You’re allowed to focus on yourself and find your way through those life stages, doesn’t mean you have to end a relationship. So when unhappiness or any negative emotions come up in marriage it’s acceptable to simply give up and move on apparently. It’s very weak-willed to have that mindset. I hope she finds what she’s looking for.

  • The takeaway here is that life is NOT about self love, authenticity, “your truth”. This is the biggest myth of our generation. It’s about loving others. It’s about giving yourself away to your spouse. It’s not courageous to break the promises you made to your spouse, before God, and your loved ones. It’s not courageous or loving in anyway to abandon your spouse and children for the sake of your self. This is narcissism. Granted, I dont know the details of what happened. But the message promoted by this clip is antithetical to virtue. I hope our culture soon realizes the shallowness of the message promoted by 90% of the media, and things turn around for the better.
