What Is The Day After A Polish Wedding Called?

The Polish wedding typically lasts two days, with the sixth day being called “Poprawiny,” which translates to “to correct” or “improve.” This day is often seen as a continuation of the wedding festivities and is often seen as a way to extend the celebration and correct any mistakes or omissions from the previous day. The name of the month the wedding takes place in probably contains the letter ‘r’ (in Polish, that includes March, June, August, September, October, and December).

A typical Polish wedding will last 3-4 days, with people eating, dancing, drinking, toasting, and playing games. The feast is intertwined with old traditional rituals, making the Polish wedding more unique and curious. The first dish served at most Polish weddings is rosół, Polish chicken soup, followed by a second course (usually meat with salad and potatoes) and a dessert (ice cream or cake). Polish wedding cake is called kołacz and is usually served 3-4 hours after the wedding party started.

The bride calls up all the ladies to dance with her while the men watch, and the men are expected to copy the groom, repeating the same few moves over and over. The poprawiny can last for two days after the initial wedding reception, allowing the married couple not to go on their honeymoon until it is all finished.

Polish wedding traditions and customs are an integral part of Polish culture, symbolizing meaningful rituals and symbolism throughout the wedding process. The second day of festivities, known as “Poprawiny,” is less formal and more intimate than the actual wedding reception. The ceremony usually begins around 2-4 pm, and the reception starts directly after the ceremony.

What is the celebration after a wedding?

What is a wedding celebration? A celebration of marriage is a big party to celebrate a marriage. It is usually held after a wedding or elopement. It is also called an elope party, post-elopement party, or post-wedding party. Sometimes couples elope because they don’t want everyone to know about their relationship. When they are ready, they host a big wedding. There are also spontaneous Vegas-style weddings. Since these are last-minute decisions, there is no time to invite guests and celebrate properly. Some couples don’t want to worry about entertaining guests and enjoy each other’s company.

Post-Wedding Reception Etiquette. Post-wedding party etiquette is the same as for same-day weddings. There are only a few main differences. You can have a traditional wedding ceremony, but it’s not necessary. The host couple decides if they want to include this. The same goes for wedding cakes, bouquet-throwing, and other wedding traditions. The second difference is the timing and wording of wedding party invitations. • Australia in 1968, huge Polish wedding in Geelong, a small city near Melbourne. Around 500 people in a ‘wedding hall’, Geelong had a large Polish community in those days, My brother who was still in his Navy uniform (Vietnam era) went outside to drink vodka with the police officer who was supposed to be keeping order!!!! The highlight of the evening was my brother the sailor and the uniformed Polish police officer doing ‘hopak’ dancing to the band, they were magnificant! All activities, drinking, flirting, fighting, dancing and eating stopped for everyone to stand and clap and whistle at the two beautiful strong young men bouncing and jumping. One of my sweetest childhood memories. Polish weddings rule!!!!!!

  • There is a custom in America that happens at the reception after the wedding. The reception is where the food, drinks and dancing occur after the ceremony. There is a wedding cake and the bride and groom cut the cake and get the first piece before anyone else. They are supposed to feed each other some of the cake, but there is a tradition where they smash their slices of cake in each others’ faces.

  • Hej! Jestem z Meksyku. Pododa mi sie twoje film. You mentioned the games in the wedding and the jokes. The time the cupple takes for planning the party and the thing they do to show respect to their guests.

  • Tradition is depends which part of Poland you from ! And of course in Village people know each other so is very different ! Haw big is the weeding is depends of your financial status?
