What Is The Spiritual Significance Of Marriage?

A spiritual marriage is a sacred union that emphasizes spiritual connection and growth beyond traditional marriage. It transcends the surface-level aspects of a relationship and focuses on a deeper, spiritual bond. In essence, what is needed is a belief that your relationship is not only special but sacred; a conviction that your relationship is a vehicle for healing and growth; and an acceptance that your relationship is not only special but sacred.

In a spiritual marriage, the significance lies in the intention to create a partnership that transcends the physical realm. It is an opportunity for both parties to share their hopes, dreams, fortune, and the breadth of life’s experiences. The biblical significance of marriage is that it is a sacred, lifelong union between a man and a woman, ordained by God as society’s foundation. It nurtures the physical and spiritual needs of both parties, reflecting God’s love for His people.

Seeing a pigeon often signifies peace, harmony, and balance in one’s life. The ring finger is commonly associated with spiritual and emotional significance, symbolizing love, commitment, and connection to the divine. In many cultures, it is believed that a vein in this finger leads directly to the heart, enhancing its symbolic connection to love and marriage.

Marriage is a legally recognized union between two individuals that comes with legal rights, responsibilities, and obligations. It is generally formalized through a wedding ceremony or a legal process. Spiritual maturing occurs when a couple lives their religion, relating so that realities like faith, hope, and love come alive in their lives.

What is the purpose of marriage spiritually?

Spiritual marriage means marrying your soul to God. A marriage without God is doomed to fail. The purpose of marriage is to know God. Don’t try to attract the opposite sex through physical desires, but through soul qualities. You can’t attract a spiritual soul through animal magnetism. Too much sex makes you unhealthy and unhappy. When you have a great friendship with someone, you’ve found your true mate.

Balance reason and feeling. In women, feelings are more important than logic. In men, logic is more important than feelings. In marriage, they bring out each other’s hidden feelings and reasons, making them more perfect. Men and women who try to find a substitute for spiritual quality through sex are disappointed. Men and women should balance reason and feeling. Like flowers and steel, they are divine qualities. God is love. If you learn meditation, you can have a spiritual marriage with God. A marriage can only be truly successful if the couple seek God together. In marriage, love grows through service to each other. When a husband and wife serve each other with God’s help, that is spiritual marriage.

How does marriage reflect God?

God created marriage as a partnership between one man and one woman. Marriage is the foundation for building a family. God designed sexual expression to help married couples build intimacy. Marriage mirrors God’s covenant relationship with His people. We see this last parallel throughout the Bible. Jesus calls himself the “bridegroom” and the kingdom of heaven a “wedding banquet.” God’s purposes for marriage extend beyond personal happiness. Thomas says God isn’t against happiness, but that marriage brings out even better values.

What are God’s three purposes for marriage?

There are three reasons for marriage. God made marriage for three main reasons: companionship, having kids, and redemption. These purposes are still important today. Let’s look at each one. Companionship. Marriage is for companionship. In Genesis 2:18, God said it wasn’t good for man to be alone. God made marriage so that man and woman could be close. This relationship is based on love, trust, and communication. It shows us how we should relate to the Lord.

Final causal model (n = 5,720). Spiritual intimacy affects marital intimacy and well-being. When a person’s relationship with God makes life meaningful, it improves both their marriage and their well-being. Spiritual intimacy improves individual well-being because it improves marital intimacy. Without spiritual meaning, a person’s relationship with God is linked to less marital intimacy and well-being. The standardised regression coefficients from the structural model are shown. Age and length of relationship are taken into account. The structural model of the relationship between the latent variables is shown with bold arrows and coefficients. All coefficients are statistically significant at p < .001. What is the greatest thing about marriage?

The 10 Best Things About Being Married: You’ll have a partner to handle everything. You’ll have a partner. … Legal rights. … Financial goals together. … Starting new family traditions. … You’ll have a lifelong partner. … Telepathy with your spouse. Saying your wedding vows makes your love feel different.

1. You can talk to your partner without worrying about scaring them off. When you’re dating, you’re always afraid of saying the wrong thing. Once you’re married, you can text, call, email, and send flowers to the office every day without worrying about coming on too strong.

2. You’ll have someone to take care of you when you’re sick. When you’re sick, it’s annoying to go to the drugstore in your sweats to get tissues, lozenges, and chicken soup. Having someone to take care of you when you’re sick is great, and your mom will be happy to help.

What is the spiritual definition of marriage?

God made marriage for us. As described in Genesis and later by Jesus, marriage is a covenant between a man and a woman. This lifelong, sexually exclusive relationship brings children into the world and helps to take care of the earth. Biblical marriage is about faithfulness, sacrificial love, and joy. It shows the relationship between God and his people. While people may change their ideas about marriage, followers of Jesus should follow what Jesus said in Matthew 19:4-6. Jesus replied, “Have you not read that at the beginning, God made them male and female? A man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” They are now one flesh. God joins together what God joins together.

The couple could promise to love and cherish each other, or the groom could promise to love, cherish, and worship, and the bride to love, cherish, and obey.

Western Christianity Roman Catholic. Couples who marry in the Catholic Church make the same pledge to each other. The Rite of Marriage says the usual text in English is:

I, ____, take you, ____, to be my (husband/wife). I promise to be true to you in good times and bad, in sickness and in health. I will love and honor you all my life.

Grow and change together to enjoy life with your spouse.

What is God’s divine purpose for marriage?

The main reason for getting married. God made marriage to show the world how He loves men and women. Marriage shows married couples love God. Wilson says: The wedding ceremony is not the end. Marriage is not the end in itself. Marriage is a way of serving and honoring God. Young women who view marriage as their goal are making the wedding and marriage an idol. God planned for marriage to be a blessed state of mutual service. God established marriage as a covenant, not a contract. These are two different things. There are three key differences: A covenant is based on trust. A contract is based on distrust. A covenant is based on unlimited responsibility. A contract is based on limited responsibility. A covenant cannot be broken if new circumstances occur. A contract can be cancelled by both parties.

What are the reasons God wants us to marry?

God wants us to have good marriages and to show the gospel in our relationships. In Christian marriage, we submit to each other out of love. Even when we’re not pretty or perfect, or we don’t think the other person deserves it. The privilege of building marriages that reflect the gospel is the theme of every chapter in Praying the Scriptures for Your Marriage. But the other part of our mission—the fruit-bearing part—can look different for every couple. The Lord calls us to bear lasting fruit (John 15:16). But how?

A vision for your marriage. Many people think being fruitful in marriage means having children. My mom signed our wedding gifts with Genesis 1:28 and a smiley face. That’s only part of it. The Bible often talks about bearing fruit. Jesus says in John 15:16, “I chose you so you can bear fruit.”

  • Curtis, after perusal maybe 10 or more of your shows so far, I gotta say, dude… you rock at being real, being honest, sincere, subtle, and charmingly naturally humorous in not taking yourself seriously. And ironically in so doing, you allow me to take you seriously. You cover the material concepts so succinctly and enjoyably that aside from Swedenborg’s attraction, my wife and I just like perusal and seeing you personally.

  • Greetings Curtis what’s so amazing is that before my beloved passed I never came across these articles, ironically after he passed immediately these articles started to show up on my phone .I was drawn to this as I watched the articles I started to feel comfort to all the pain I felt as time has passed I’ve grown stronger unusually more in love with him our bound was very strong.I feel like some one wanted me to find this Peace and comfort..One day we will be together again.Thank you for sharing your gift.❤️

  • I feel in love with someone I truly loved we were seeing each other for about 10 yrs he passed away a couple of months ago he had lung cancer the problem is I was with someone else that I was planing on leaving who was not Gd for me I didn’t love him anymore I didn’t like the way he was treating me I guess it was a definitional relationship .now that my true love is gone I don’t want to love with anyone else don’t want no one but him I decided to follow my life with Jesus I’m trying to change.I want to see my true love who gave his life for Jesus. listening to you gives me hope u hope that Jesus would forgive me for my sins I would love to be with all my love ones again and I would love to see my true love and to be with our Lord and have eternal Gd life as God planed please keep me in your prayers and keep doing Gods work God bless you

  • I’m wrestling with some of this as expected. But the love and motives behind marriage is right and true that swedenborg is saying. And it is a great thing and beautiful to be married to one person and truly love them. Marriage is obviously a big deal to the Lord. And the bible does say that when a married couple has intercourse u become one. Weather u agree with Swedenborg 100% I believe he loved God and was a good Christian man from what I know about him. Its hard for me to read so many comments of anger and hatred. How bout we love the Lord and live it and be that shining city on a hill.

  • Thank you for this…there is more depth than is experienced in much of life today. People around me in grief groups sit and talk about “the end.” But for me, I don’t even say the “D” word, using rather “transition” to describe my ever ongoing eternal relationship…And to hear that marriage exists additional to husband and wife to many realms in life. This makes so much sense as it resonates to the very core of the Spiritual heart…And as Jordan says “The Payoff is Incredible…”

  • Hi Curtis. I am new to the Swedenborg teachings and have been perusal your You Tube website for several months. The more I watch the more I feel like I just may have found what I have been needing. You really know how to “teach” and yet make every Topic so interesting and fun! Thank you and your crew. I hope you continue and do not grow weary. As a “side note” I have to say I hope you are getting your rest. 🙂 Do not forget to take care of yourself. This is the aka “motherly side of me” lol. Thank you again. I am going to become of member of your Foundation and start my journey in “reading”. 🙂

  • I’m glad knowing this. My husband and I were only married for 3 years, we didn’t have children. I feel that our relationship was cut short by his passing. I feel like i have unfulfilled mission. But it his his time to exit earth and i cannot prevent that. We love each other so much. I only hope there’s reincarnation where we both have the free will to live in flesh again and till death do we part. Only death set us apart but i know we will be reunited. No one really knows what happens afterlife.

  • I truly believe that God does intervene depending on your true intention of having some. I had been married twice and was single again. I had been into several relationships that I really got just tired of what I was doing. I would go out to dances and I remember asking God for someone that would love me, care for me and also for me love them. I wanted to fall in love with there inner beauty and that the outer beauty would not matter to me. I remember asking in my mind for someone to love me and that I didn’t want to care if he’s fat, bald, old, or what ever else. Well I had been working at a company for about 11 year and never notice some there until the company was moving to a different location. I met Julian but I was not interested in him he was not my type and too young, too short, for me. Well guess what we have been married 16 years already and he is the most wonderful man. My Heavenly Father does intervene and I believe only if you are truly sincere in asking. Yes I was hard headed in the beginning and did not love him but I have fallen in love, which is the most wonderful life God has given me. Yes I did make mistakes and yes I did treat him bad but my Heavenly Father was patient with me he opened my eyes to see the beauty of this man name Julian

  • Hi Curtis…good morning from this side of the world…phil…🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭 your show did really helped me a lot…being widowed for almost 4 years…if only we got to see you show before he went home to our creator .. it could have been perfect for me.. but God did made some wonderful avenue for me…and i am amazed by all his plans…keep safe always…

  • I really enjoyed this show and felt relief in knowing if our marriage here on earth doesn’t work. We have the opportunity to resolve it in heaven. Or continue in that relationship. Personally was not fortunate to find or have a marriage with these qualities. Or even the chance to work with the one you married. When it’s made for you in non agreement. Anyway most enlightening and thoughts to ponder. Love and blessings 😇🙏🌺.

  • Hi Curtis, I just wanted to say hello and give you a quick thank you for all you do on your website. I just discovered you and Swedenborg’s theories last week. Since I’ve started perusal you I’ve come to understand so much about myself and our earthly human life experience. I can’t stop perusal you! You have a very warm, inviting aura about you. 💓 I look forward to all your future shows. Never stop being you! Much love from Kitchener, Ontario.

  • just read Heaven and Hell, it changed everything for me. My beloved mum passed away recently. The chapter on the transition to eternal life really moved me and I was very emotional reading it. The book is now being passed around my siblings who are still coming to terms with mum’s death. EM was truly an incredible soul. Love your articles

  • I’ve got a question. So my boyfriend of 3 yrs passed away last year, we never got married but I feel we have a spiritual marriage. And I am certain he is my soulmate and I am his. Is his soul still a part of mine? I believe love never dies and he will always be a part of me. Does his spirit dwell on me like mine does to his? And why does it seem so common for soulmates to be separated?

  • Also, about the interpretation of marriage at the resurrection… because he mentions being like angels -might Jesus be referring more to (not) creating (bio) children in heaven? Since the brother was trying to get a child from his brothers wife? And that was the point of all the brothers marrying the same woman?

  • I will just begin with this…..the last words my husband said to me as he was nearing the final step of his physical to afterlife transition were “Let’s Make a Love Affair.”…..I took that as a second proposal…..we kissed the confirmation “Yes” and breathed 3 breaths together. I lay my head on his chest to honor his heart beats…when I heard the last pulse I heard 1000 female voices sing a single note….(the note E three octaves above middle C)….it was without doubt our song of triumph…I can’t wait!!

  • You are only married in this life truly if you were already one (the same angel) in heaven. I know this from gnosis. Personal experience. I met my polarity. Twin soul. We both had a spiritual awakening upon meeting. As we merged we were flooded with gods love and knowledge of wat true life was. I could feel we had both been in heaven together. It felt like angels were birthing miracles through us. It was true deep intimacy between us but also between us and god. We were a micro of the macro Union between all polarities. It was a wedding that took place between us but also it was us being intimate and married to Christ. This is true tantra. It’s a state of being. You can say we were Adam and Eve in the garden of eden. This love was not a selfish one I wanted to share it with the world. It had s purpose. I knew he was my husband in heaven. And I was his soul bride. These were turned so I never heard before but they came to us naturally we would call each other are soul husband and soul bride. He was my true family and true husband bc we were the same angel. We’ve been married since beginning of time. This union set us both on a path of true transformation so we can spread truth and do our purpose here. Also! Lol together we formed the tree of life 🙂 or what it represents. True union is God’s love for you in another person.

  • Well, it’s hopeful but at the same time, not, if you’re a childless person like me. I can’t see any reason why people denied children on this earth would not be allowed to have them in heaven. If heaven is the redemption of all things, if there’s even the chance of sex and soul mates, as this article says, then I refuse to believe that the sex wouldn’t or couldn’t produce children. Saying that is like saying those who are childless are the only people who won’t be restored and healed in heaven. Yes, the lame will walk and the blind will see and …… the childless will still be childless? No. If that’s really what happens, then a whole faction of society will see themselves remain eternally unhealed and unfulfilled in an area that all the parents of the world take for granted. Will the childless stand on the sidelines and watch all the parents and children reunite without ever having something like that for themselves? I refuse to believe that. I’m hoping for more.

  • WHETHER OR NOT YOU GET IT OR AGREE WITH IT….JESUS SAID THERE IS NO MARRIAGE IN HEAVEN. You don’t get to make up what makes sense to you in Christianity….He was the teacher & we strive to understand the TRUTH He taught us. None of us really “get” what heaven is….we just trust that Jesus said it will be awesome & rock….& conversely hell will suck, so don’t go there! Believe in what Jesus said, don’t get hung up on the details. But dont dare rewrite His words cuz you dont comprehend it. Perhaps we will love every person in heaven as much & as closely as we would a spouse here on earth &THATS why there is no marriage….who knows? We’ll see when we get there…& the only way we will get there is thru HIM….for no one comes to the father but thru Him. So remember the warning against those who lead others astray ..

  • I lost my beloved husband Chris in 2021 to covid. Quick, unexpected and horrible. He was 58 and the love of my life/ I only had 10 years with him. He was so full of life, rode bullet bikes, wheelies, fast cars, and a hard working career man. I was raised Catholic and of course taught we aren’t married after death. This tore me up. I have since moved from this faith to a more Christian faith. I pray this is true!

  • Spiritual Marriages, I love 💕 your talking about marriage in heaven. When my husband and I said our vows, it was till death do us part. Well, recently my husband went into eternity without me..after 41 years and we shall see if our love 💕 will continue in Eternity. But, this sounds very interesting of what your saying. I think my husband was faithful he was a real home 🏡 body person and never gave me any reason to doubt, he was unfaithful. I took a deep breath, when he was passing, I wanted to remember his smell and it was very difficult to see him leave. I had our daughter take a picture and it looked like he was coming out his flesh body right above my head. The cloudiness figure came out in the picture right above my head in the hospital room. I am glad he is no longer suffering but, we miss him terribly.

  • I watch some of the SF article several times over On difficult days, it is for comfort. Other times, I just want to understand more about Swedenborg’s perspectives and spiritual experiences. Within me, and I feel strongly in others too, is a drive for rational and logical thought wrapped in goodness and truth. When we step outside of those things, we get caught up in the political battles of elections, the government battles for power, the socialization of gossip, the commercializing of holidays, marriage, raising children, etc. All these expectations paint a false picture people often try to model their lives by. The truth is hidden deeply so that we can look at our neighbor and judge by what we think we see and really be completely off the mark. We can look at married couples and see the nice home, beautifully dressed children, the Sunday morning haul to church or to grandmother’s home for dinner or a celebration. Under all of that, there can be something entirely different hiding from even the people who contribute to maintaining this image. So, it is important that we not judge. What I observe about the SF and its literature is that the foundation takes a scholarly approach, never attacks the views of others and really seeks to discover truth. The presentations and discussions are wholesome, polite, good, up-to-date, rational, logical. If your goal is to seek greater understanding and add to your current understanding about our existence and all the aspects of living our lives in the face of the adversities we encounter — the SF is a great resource.

  • The take I have on this is when we are spiritually awakened! ie..resurrection from the deadness of life and who we think we are, marriage is no longer needed as we are now free from man’s idea of marriage, we become like the angels we are male and female I really believe there is no need for man’s marriage anymore, great talk thanks guys!

  • the day i opened the the Metaphysical bible dictionary by charles fillmore, i never looked back and i have learnt a great deal until i met this website on youtube (offTheLeftEye). Now i have married this website and would keep doing what i do best, loving and been truthful to my three parts of the brain starting from the sense, then motor, and the cortex.

  • People like Elizabeth Taylor will be be busy then if you get to spend time with all your partners/hubby’s before fnding the ‘right one’ spiritually :)))) Curtis, you do a great job, and I look forward to checking in each day, and saying hi to you. Quite abit of stuff is happening to me spiritually I think- and have had my experiences in the past, plus great to Connect on pm messaging on your fb page. Julia

  • okay i know you have tolded me plenty of times that the signs from my husband i will not always get if he gets further into the after life the communication between here on earth and the spiritual world are sometimes not that great and i know he is keeping himself busy up there i am trying to do the same thing i just wish i knew what he was doing up there i trust him to do the right thing and that is to get his learning done the signs have slowed down again/ and i miss him and love him more and more every passing day

  • Hey Curtis, you mentioned doing a show on gay marriage. I would really love this, seeing as I am bisexual and have a lot of questions about how this will pan out for me in the afterlife if I chose a partner of the same gender. Additionally, as I have told you I am transgender. My religious family tells me that I will end up being the gender that I was born as on earth in the afterlife. I find this troubling because I feel more connected to the gender that I am becoming and I personally believe there is a spiritual journey tied to why I feel this way. I doubt transgender people were a common occurrence during Swedenborg’s time, so I’m sure he never makes any direct commentary on this specific of a topic. But I was wondering if you ever get around to doing a show on gay marriage if you could include anything that Swedenborg says that might provide insight on transgender issues. It would really mean a lot to me! Thanks so much for all of your hard work- I really love your website and I watch your new articles as often as I can.

  • Hello, I have seen so much of your articles and I love them so much. I am 26 years old and my partner of 2 years passed away 2 weeks ago after a 3 week battle in the icu with multiple organ failure. we were not married, and we are both female, and we love each other so so so much. I truely believe with all my heart we were meant to be together. will we be able to be together in heaven? she will always be my other half, I want to wait to see her again in heaven one day. thank you <3

  • Just started perusal your articles from a day or two and find it interesting.I have received Christ testimonies. He is my savior, protector, provider, heard Him speak to me, seen Him as well. My marriage is yet to happen although I have crossed 45yrs….. some are interested but marriage proposal as such hasn’t happened.. Although, my soul-mate does exist, but it’s been a long wait for me n my family too…Lord had sent two Angels, whom I saw many years before way back in 2004 or so.Male and a female …one with a sword.I hear songs too coming from nowhere, heard terrible cosmic storm last year. God does have a good plan for me!! Feel His blessings every moment.

  • Hi Curtis. Been following your articles lately and am intrigued by Swedenborgs writings as they almost align with my personal beliefs in God, Jesus and spirits uniting. I have some questions though. What if there is a situation where someone married based on restrictions? So for example, someone had an arranged marriage not by choice where the assumption is the love would build up but isn’t always the case or a marriage by choice that turned out rocky over time, didn’t end in divorce say due to a child being in the middle but there started being doubts about that person being the soulmate. What could happen in the afterlife? Would these two drift apart and then find their true soulmate because in the afterlife there are no restrictions like from parents who say “you have to marry in your social class” or “you have to marry in your heritage?” And what if my spouse has a different faith (say I am catholic believing the notion of everlasting life but she believes in reincarnation and doesn’t see our souls continuing in the afterlife)?

  • I am wondering since once we die we keep growing, learning and changing how will we stay with the one we’re support to be with? The wife and I have been together close to 24 years. We’ve been snipey and snippey at each other. One or the other goes for a walk before it goes full blown doggin’ and cattin’ but it’s only a matter of time. She’s sick of me and I feel the same way. Just keep trying to move forward and pray for better times to come. So will we out grow or change so much that our soul mate will get like this????

  • I lost my husband and true love in 2016. sense then then I have had a relationship because I got lonely . I have question do you have to stay fateful as the rest of your life to be with your true love in heaven .my question is this can I still be with my husband and true love in heaven for entity ? or did I mess up by touching or being with someone else ?my heart will always belong to my husband but don’t know if that matters now. if we can still betoghter. for ever or not please help me and let me know please?

  • Hi! I’m new to all this I just lost my fiancé a month ago, one of the first things he ever told when were just seeing each other that he believed we were soulmates, we talked about it so much we connected so much and we’re madly in love. He passed away unexpectedly and tragically. We wanted to marry but we didn’t need a paper we felt as if we already were. For some reason we talked about death the day before he passed he told me he wasn’t afraid off death and I told him I was. But I remember telling him he looked like an angel not because he was my person but he felt like one. He passed the next day. All I think about is how I want to be with him in heaven I talk to him allll day! A medium saw me and told me that my fiancé said we are true soulmates and he’s with me every second of the day. What do you think of all this. I believe it 10000% my sweetest love

  • Due to personal reasons I have to stay single, since I have obligations in this world to my family and I can’t risk jeopardizing it just because of a glance of a temporary beauty, since this world is full of deceptions one after the other. However, I always dream of someday meeting my future spouse in Heaven. I want my spouse to be exactly how I imagined all my life since I have a clear picture of her in my head and not just in my head but in virtual images aswell. Also I want to have a relationship of 100% truth and love and in this world such achievement is not possible, and in Heaven it is. My biggest question is this, based on the Emmanuel Swedenborg theories and books, can God Almighty create the girl I envisioned and prayed during all my lifetime, making her 100% real? Thank you, very nice article btw. Subscribed! God Bless! †

  • Thanks, Curtis. you have introduce the program with- the love of marriage, the greatest joy that human being can experience. I truly agreed with you. And the lack of it will cause forlorn-ness and manifest the opposite of greatest joy (henceforth – greatest sadness). what should he do? Is marriage so-call destine? thanks….

  • Kurtis I am a gay man, but I also have had mystic experiences like Emanuel Swedenborg, on one of my Heavenly visits I was taken to… Two doors, One door said inside here is all the female lovers you have ever loved and the other door said in side this door is all the male lovers you have ever loved, So from that I come to the conclusion that we have both female and male lovers and we have to experience both to understand our own sexual nature. In this life I am attracted to the same sex, but in past I may have been attracted to the opposite sex. (Unlike Swedenborg) I believe in past lives, only because I have seen bits and pieces of my own, and I was shown two future lives (both optional) one was in the 2300’s and the other in the 2500’s.

  • What happens if you are married in a loveless marriage, more for convenience, and you meet the love of your life? Your soulmate. Am I doomed? I was going to leave my spouse for my love but my love died before I could leave. It was last June. Will we not be allowed to be together in the afterlife because of that? We were together for 6 years and I was never intimate with my spouse after my love and i got together. He was my first love at 14 by the way. I’m mid 50’s now.

  • I don’t believe that God gives one an earthly family to only then separate households at death. Never came across this ministry until this moment, but have come across the quotes in the past of the man mentioned in this article of Mr. Swedenborg. My church believes that families can be together forever! As Swedenborg mentions in his own writings. I also believe there are things that we don’t fully understand about the heavens until we study them in the word and be like Act 17:11 tells us to be

  • Wow, this is the most delightful news from heaven! Would you please answer me a question? If I’m single and have never married, when I get to heaven will I meet my soul mate straight away? Will someone introduce me a woman and tell me “she’s your soulmate” just like in that comedy “the good place”? And If my soulmate isn’t there yet? Thank you so much, you are the best!!!

  • Curtis, this is Virginia Janoulis and please forgive me but i deleted by accident your reply to me about my husband Jason’s passing and all the links of Swedenborg titles to help me. Please be so kind to send it again so I can go through all the different links to help me understand. Thank you from my heart. Bless you dear, Virginia

  • The Lord revealed to me that marriage is the most sacred of unions which manifests itself on many different levels. On the highest level of manifestation, God is married to all of creation. This marriage led to the creation of God’s family; the creation of life itself. In this way, our earthly marriages are like smaller manifestations of God’s union with all of creation. Isaiah 54:5: “For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.” The Lord also let me know that for certain individuals, their fate is to marry on a higher level of spirituality; of marrying a spiritual representation of a group of individuals who hold the same beliefs and who can be said to be “one”. This is the spiritual marriage which Christ will undergo; even though Christ is one person, He will marry the Church as a whole. In the new Jerusalem, many others within the church will have the same type of marriage as Christ where they will be married to a group of individuals. For instance, many pastors will become married to their own local church which they shepherd, following after Christ.

  • at 11:35 beautiful teeth–lol I think that we will know our true loves in heaven, it won’t be the same, like we aren’t arguing about the bills etc, we will be spiritual and changed. Randy Alcorn teaches too that we will know our love in heaven and that we were together all those years. I don’t think we marry there—we are just spiritually connected.

  • I was married to a beautiful and wonderful woman for nearly 30 years with 3 children. Due to a poor mental health medical history culminating in assaulting her in front of the children, the marriage ended. I still love her and the kids so so much. The Love has grown to be profound and true. I miss her, family life to the point where I feel I cannot go on anymore without any kind of positive communication from them, and feel driven to take my own life. I have always felt a Spiritual battle within myself,, which was maybe creating and perpetuating the negativity, the darkness, mental illness with its external manifestations, creating an atmosphere within the marriage of destructiveness. Specifically since the time of the marriage break up I have experienced a wealth of life changing events mostly negative, but paradoxically through all this I have become a better person all round. The sense of loss is so profound, have lost all my extended family to them passing over, have no friends and no interest in anything. I Desperately seek reconciliation and am thoroughly repentant in everything I have negatively done, and to the people in which I have hurt and let down so much. I look back, it has been almost 13 years now since the marriage break up, and I do not recognise the immature and illness ridden person I was then. I have changed positively, but still prone to stress and chronic clinical depression. I just want to know that when I pass, my ex wife passes, that reconciliation is possible, for I truly and Profoundly love and cherish her, and wish to prove and show to her in the afterlife, the real, the original man, the husband I know she too, once loved and cherished deeply too.

  • It seems that even heaven separates itself from those that abuse etc.. Hense, the different levels of heaven and hell. The importance of keeping a marriage together can be said to be so crucial that devout persons will suffer spiritual, verbal, and physical abuse in marriage till severe damage occures rather than stop trying to not fail in marriage. They even can become a facilatator for the abusing partner to continue as returning good for evil is seen as a green light to continue abuse or whatever evil. There is a point where health of the family demands separation from evil that just won’t quit maybe because the perpatrator can’t quit. It is not always obvious when to get away. Religion needs to mention that getting away can be pro-marriage if divorce keeps marriage seen as a good thing and not a hurtful thing.

  • Curtis, did Swedenborg ever share insight into the marriage of each individual’s internal woman/wife (the soul) to their internal man/husband (their spirit in Christ), consummating in the birthing of the ManChild from within? (The soul dying to its service of the Adamic/self nature, thereby manifesting Christ in the flesh) Secondarily, did he ever write about the church’s role in binding and loosing what materializes/unfolds here on earth?

  • Curtis, what about the fact that it is preached by Ministers, in churches, quoting the Bible, (I haven’t read that part myself), that we have to marry & stay married, even if it’s a bad marraige. And yet people coming back from after-life never are condemned for anything to do with being married or not.

  • The proverbial question is: What came first the chicken or the egg? I think that spirits were formed in Heaven first and when God created the first man and woman or tribe of men and women, he filled them with souls that were already in Heaven. I just think every thing comes from spirit first and on Earth secondarily. I learned from this scripture about the spirit of wisdom. She says she is an actual spirit and not an ideology or precept like I used to think of “wisdom.” She says she was created at the dawn of time as I believe the souls of mankind were created, too. Check this out: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%208&version=NIV Great article, Curtis!

  • Curtis says in here that control is one of the biggest killers in a marriage, and I totally agree. But what if one spouse is “controlling” the other, because the other is behaving in destructive ways (lust, addiction) and has a histroy of lying and being deceitful, which is eroding the marriage union? I say “controlling”, but I feel as though it’s not controlling (more like trying to help the person understand how destructive they are being not just to the relationship, but to themselves as well), it just may appear to be controlling to the other person. How do you know when you’re overstepping the mark in regards to control and doing what’s best for the marriage?

  • I had a dream I was in jarusalum and it seemed a door wall rock was opened a graveyard people were there I was bowing to my king I told my husband to be soon in December that I was ready God changed me I was it looked alive my husband he looked at me I gave him a plant in his hand it was as if God put us together, are hand I think of it alot in my dreams he keeps putting my hand, and him together. • Does a couple need to be married ?My soul mate of years died.We were not marrying until his children from a previous relationship turned eighteen due to very evil actions of the mother of his children. He has died before our marriage.Does this mean we will not be togeather in heaven.Second question,he is my soulmate,my one and only.I have many more years to live.I want to love again but in the same token,he is my only number one.I don’t know if I can ever love another man,I know I will go thruogh severe guilt and again,he is and will only be my number one.I am scared if I ever become in a relationship with another that I then will not be able to reunight with my number one,and if that’s what it means,I will vow to stay alone and lonely forever….????

  • That’s great guys thankyou can I just ask real quick if this guy uses science where does he get his theories and also on a personal note of u donr mind saying…. who is it that you believe in and why do u think people find comfort in these theories rather than going straight to the source ‘bible’ or is this all more of a humanistic conformation of what God says? thanks guys, sorry I’m inquisitive at the best and worst of times

  • What about people who don’t want a “soulmate” or people who are polyamorous? If they live through life not seeking anything beyond platonic love, do they condemn themselves to Hell just because they don’t want a soulmate..? Or if they desire more than one spouse and they’re all committed to this poly relationship, does God reject them?

  • I saw one of ur articles i feel like i got a bit of my heart hurt cuz i feel like i wanna see my wife in the afterlife i wanna sew her in the 2 and 3 state that i love her so much so i feel like some is trying to take my loved ones away from me of being alone in valhalla nit being able to see my kids or my family my mom or my dad relatives and everyone i truly love and i could never see them in tye 3 state of celestial life i feel like im ginna lose my free will in Valhalla and im gonna be alone im so tired and depressed

  • Didn’t Emmanuel swedenborg explain that it’s the union of love and wisdom for good and Truth in agreement with each other that make us one thus making a true spiritual marriage and if there is that connection it continues into the next life and continues to grow as our love and wisdom also grows also there is spiritual procreation but not a physical one one that is of certain truths and goods

  • My soulmate, 47 yrs of a very close marriage, passed to heaven this past summer. I have always said “he is my heart” we always felt like 2 bodies but one heart. Listening to these programs convinces me that we have had the internal love you speak of and being alone right now, though, is so painful because part of my heart is missing right now. I do have more hope to he reunited now BUT do you have any programs that could help ppl in my situation go on without feeling so lonely? Others have expressed difficulty with this loneliness and feeling of being left behind🥲

  • I am what you call a light worker holistic healing and metaphysical help. I website messages from loved ones and connect with angels. I love the fact that Ibam always in the light. I write spiritually to help people in life and I post these messages to help inspire others. I’m also forming into books. I have four children and five soon six grandchildren. I am divorced and found a great love with a second husband however divorced too much toxicity. I still feel love in my heart for both however I choose not to be in marital relationship again. Is it fair to say you can’t have true love relationship in heaven? I love God angels animals and people. You shouldn’t have to be married on earth to he married in heaven. We also choose our spouse in life before we are born. We have our soul chart for the experience and to grow from. We incarnate and have different partners. How would that work in heaven.

  • I am with my husband and I am disabled he lives me still I can move around but I am not what I was I could even give up sex if I had too, God brought us together His my first I laid with and three beautiful children we both found Jesus and raise are children About Jesus, God said he will bless me for what I have done, I don’t even know how much I have I just put god first in my life, God you are so so good

  • The “same intercourse”!? That’s shocking considering they can’t have children, so I wonder why that would still be needed in order to deepen love and wisdom. Is this also the case for angels in the 3rd heaven? One of the most hellish experiences I find is physical sexual attraction and the need for sexual gratification, which I hoped were only temporary earthly/fleshly desires. I’d scream if I still ended up with the same urges in the spiritual world. More importantly, Swedenborg’s explanation of Luke 20 actually makes perfect sense, and it reconciles the seeming contradiction in Matthew 19:6 “So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” The union of two into one can be seen in all of creation, it’s silly to think that would be an exception in heaven. But does Swedenborg offer an explanation for the spiritual meaning of “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination”?

  • We only meet our soul mate if they are on the same vibrational “disc” otherwise, we have freewill to form a union with another, and there is always another… to infinity. We draw our soulmates as we draw the people and conditions in our lives, through our own convictions anchored in Truth (Divine Love and acceptance of all without judgment, criticism, condemnation..)… or not.

  • From the Gospel ACCORDING TO Matthew in chapter 22, verses 29 and 30, QUOTE; 29. Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.\r 30. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. End Quote.

  • Love have demand to be realized. Without realization love is incomplete. Thats why God created world, that He can share love with others. That principle of sharing love is everywhere, first in God, then in heaven, then in this world, and finaly in nature. Minus charge wants to share love with plus charge, that is basic principle of existence. Without that principle world can not exist. Same in heaven. Love is best realized in conjugal love because it is divine order from begining of creation that everyone has eternal partner. By our inner nature we can not be fully satisfied without mutual sharing love with our eternal partner. Sorry for bad english.

  • can someone please tell me exactly what religion this is based on? I know Swedenborg was a philosopher but what I don’t get is he was having dreams exc. this reminds me of the Mormons and they base their belief on a man and then try and back up what the human man says, anyways I can see that you guys use biblical teaching but I gotta say when u base theory’s on what a man says I get nervous can anyone help my understanding on this please…… only facts please

  • I recently commented on this article and I am still a little confused by all this and if it is ok, i need it paraphrased…. A lot of people who work at my church have said that Jesus said regarding that verse in Matthew that people are not given in marriage but are like angels. Therefore, they’ve told me instantly that if people are married on earth, they are not going to be married in Heaven. Hearing that has made me upset and angry. I also have autism so it is hard to understand different things. Could you possibly explain to me how it is true that if I get married (I am not married yet) and if my wife and I love each other and follow God every step of the way that we will still love each other in Heaven the same way? If you could do that for me, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

  • In Hell (for the guy questing is there marriage in Hell)…. I’m Hell “as I was shown” There is master and slave relationships, Like “S and M” But it goes beyond master and slave, because masters in Hell often pimp out their sex slaves. Masters are sociopaths, with no love for their slaves, slaves are just property met to be used any way the master see’s fit, and if the slave tries to go against the master, the slave will get a beating. (This is the kind of Hell for people that are sexually permissiveness in earthly life, both gay and straight) again this is what I was shown.

  • Google “Strong’s Concordance.” Enter 1 Tim. 3. See verse 1: “if a man” G1536 ( Whosoever); “Bishop” G1984 (Office of an elder). V.2, “Bishop” G1985 (Bishoprick). V.1 is a position. V.2 is a person. Whosoever desires the Office of a bishop. Acts 14:23, “elders” G4245 (elder man, elder WOMAN). Acts 20:28, “overseers” G1985 (Elder of a Christian church). Bishops are overseers as pastors of Christian church. Holy women stand in office of bishop. Eph. 4:11, God gave some apostles, teachers, etc. Titus 1:5, “ordain elders in every city.”

  • PROOF THERE IS SEX IN THE AFTER LIFE!!!! jeremiah 3:14-19 14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am MARRIED unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and TWO OF A FAMILY, and I will bring you to Zion: 15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. 16 And it shall come to pass, when ye be MULTIPLIED and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more. 17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart. 18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers. 19 But I said, How shall I put thee among the CHILDREN, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.

  • 23 mins through…talks about this ‘ sooooo called spiritual sex’. Don’t think so !! Where on earth, or should I say where in the Bible do you get that idea from ? Heaven is us worshiping God and Jesus exultation over us ( Zephaniah 3). Come-on show the reference not someone opinion who is flawed flesh !

  • Here is what I believe. In Genesis, God gave 3 blessings to Adam and Eve 1) Be Fruitful 2) Multiply and 3) have dominion over the creation. He also gave them a commandment “Do not eat of the fruit”. Tragically they did and then they hid their sexual organs in shame. Basically, they listen to Lucifer, had illicit sexual relations before reaching maturity and before getting the OK from God. This is why this original sin is passed from generations to generation thru the blood lineage. This is why Jesus said that we want to do the will of our FATHER, the devil. God cannot bless or recognize our marriage because we belong to the lineage of Satan. This is why at the time of the resurrection,, we are still single like the angels. Jesus came as the new Adam to establish God’s lineage and restore the family). We can be engrafted to him. Sadly, he was crucified and will return once more for the Marriage of the lamb. We enter Heaven as a couple but our marriage need to be bless by God. On the cross, Jesus said that he will go to Paradise. This is because he was still single.

  • Jesus says that God is our Heavenly Father. It means that He is male (Masculine subject over the creation). Like men, He has the duality of masculinity and femininity within Himself but in order to experience love you need an object partner outside of yourself. We can say that God needs a Wife. That is why, the wife of Adam is also the wife of God. When Adam and Eve consummate their love with God at the center of their marriage, God comes and dwell with them.

  • OK I have to say on the fact that you’re talking about gay marriage that we shall not judge one another I have to say that you’re wrong because we quote the Bible a lot along with other books but the Bible also says that a man is not to lay with another man so yes we are to judge that because that’s what the Lord says it is not for us to condemn it is for the Lord to condemn but the Lord is really the only one who judges your right to an extent but God’s word is truth and if he say’s that it is an abomination for two men to lay together or two women that’s the bottom-line there is no make an excuse for that I am joy perusal your show but please do not for the sake of losing followers make an excuse for two people to be together if they are the same sex it is wrong no matter how you look at it according to God’s word because he is the creator and we are the creation and he is truth bottom line he graded everything we cannot make excuses nor can we can donate it so be very careful about trying to please man and not pleasing the Lord there’s also scripture on that as well thank you

  • It just sounds impossible how people could just be in a monogamous romantic relationship with a single person forever. Sure, I may not be into the idea of marriage or even having sex and trusting females but marriage is getting increasingly unpopular nowadays for completely secular reasons not to mention the idea that people had polygamy as the norm in the past and even in modern times in certain areas. What about this whole “the one I’m meant to be with” fantasy stuff? Can it be many options or is it someone that’s just predetermined in terms of how limited this compatibility actually is? How about sexual fantasties that are just not involved with coveting someone else’s partners or anything particularly cruel? Is that considered indulgence? A man’s tendency isn’t that hard to deal considering how easily he can carry his own weight and live his life, especially without anyone breathing down his neck. However, the real issue lies with the majority of women who are hypergamous in nature which means that they compete over the same man statistically more than men competing over the same woman and would even accept sharing him sometimes. Even if females didn’t have particularly materialistic needs in heaven, they would still have to select for experience, personality and “genetics” (don’t know how these issues could be fixed)

  • To any TRUE Christian perusal this, don’t be misled, as it says in GALATIANS 1: 6-9, “6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!”
