The show is unscripted. The crew captured my reactions. If I said something funny, cute, or cool, I saw it again and again. “And to tell people that I love and respect…How do you tell people you have cancer? You don’t want people to feel sorry for you, that is the last thing I want.” This really hit hard when I heard her say that. When I was told I had cancer and was being explained what the next steps were, I was completely fine and just taking it all in. And then when I stepped out of the doctor’s office and back out into the world, I realized I had to tell my mom and immediately broke down. Cancer is such a heavy, scary thing when we talk about it, and you don’t want the people you love feeling devastated and scared and worried. I’m so glad and thankful that I had so many people that loved and cared about me that went through it with me, but I will never forget the guilt and pain of sharing that news.
Let’s all pray for Lori guys. Prayer really works. A few months ago my Aunt was diagnosed with cancer on a very high stage. Today she went in so the doctors could check on her and when they checked, she was cancer free. Our entire family had been praying for her for a long time and God performed a miracle for our entire family and mainly my Aunt. Let it be the same for Lori.
Monte is Lori’s right hand man…besides her hubby…Monte has and all the girls have been by her side and continue do be by her side…Lori is a very super strong minded woman who’s entire life is dedicated to helping that one bride the perfect, most beautiful wedding dress…Monte is also a man who’s also dedicated to helping Lori in the business…LOVE ALL YOU GUYS AT LORI’S… YOU’RE AN AMAZING CREW
I think sometimes we think people cry because they feel sorry for us, and I think that might be partially true, but I know in reality, just as we grieve the loss, we grieve for ourselves too. Facing the reality that you might lose someone you don’t feel you could live without is hard, so it’s ok to cry, we cry for many reasons.
Say what you want, and whether or not this was edited and pre planned. The emotions are real. Despite being a reality show, it’s still an actual store and these are real employees who work together everyday and spend more time together than they do with their family. The devastation in the room is palpable
Giving glory to God with too many appreciation, because if not for God I would not even be able to bear the shame of living with cancer I actually didn’t have any more hope but With the love of God I was able to get to #drosaye one way or the other through YouTube, and I’m negative of my breast cancer cancer right now thanks so much dr for the medication.
I love how Lori told her don’t cover up her scars because everyone should be able to see that she was a survivor and how strong she was. I think that gave her a boost of confidence that she didn’t have. An Lori definitely did a beautiful thing but I think she knew from the start that the dress was over the bride budget but because she could relate to her she wanted to make sure that she got the dress of her dreams no matter what even if she had to break her own rules!
can i say this family is one of the loveliest on this show? I’ve binged quite a few episodes and I’ve seen so terrible mothers who mocks their daughters and made them feel horrible. The mom here is precious, no matter what dress her daughter tried, you can see her eyes full of love and admiration for her. ♡︎
I’m so glad Merideth was able to marry the love of her life in her beautiful gown. Her story is a tragedy. What’s worse is finding out she was one of over 2 dozen young men and women clustered in a small geographic area with ocular melanoma. I hope those families eventually get the answers they deserve. Thank you for sharing her story.
I have seen alot of these “yes to the dress” articles, but this is the first one that I have actually commented on. The fact that the store owner sold her this dress at below cost really was a beautiful gesture of emotional kindness. I think that she looks lovely. I had another comment that I was going to use for the end of this post, but then I read a comment following mine concerning her passing away. I truly hope that she got to get married in this beautiful gown before passing away. I am so very sorry to hear this very sad news.
So sad to know she died with cancer and fought hard to live. The inspirations she left is remarkable. I’m glad to see her here at least I got to know a great lady like her and so sad that she had to leave so early knowing the possibility that she could have accomplished more great things. To Lori, you’re such a fighter and a beautiful lady inside and out. Your generosity will forever be appreciated by the bride’s family and us, viewers.
Dearest Lori, this article out of so many hit home. I just went through stage 4 cancer. You are so right it just wipes your whole body and mind. What you did for that young lady I can tell you meant the world to her and her whole family. I had some ladies help me with giving me so clothing cause the cost of the chemo meds were so high. I very sad to hear the young lady lost her battle but the smile you put on her face and that of her family will live on forever. Bless you Lori and I pray for her family to remember her bright light. 🌹🌈🌟
The way the mom was crying at the first dress 😢😢 you just know it wasn’t JUST about the dress 😞 It’s about her baby getting married, it’s about her daughter having cancer, it’s about her fear of what’s to come and will get daughter recover and she probably was also thinking about how it was strapless and how her scar would show if she kept it “as is”. Probably a LOT of different emotions happening all at once. I couldn’t imagine
Meredith Legg Stapleton, the all-time leading scorer in USC Aiken women’s basketball history, died Monday after a long battle with cancer. She was 26…. she died 2014 February | oh my gosh she was so beautiful and cheerful and her husband was waiting for her to get well so they can have a future….
Its really sad looking back at this day that was so dear to her, and all the while knowing that she didn’t make it. If you didn’t know, she unfortunately passed away from her cancer. But thankfully, she was able to get married to her husband before it happened. Lori made the right decision by giving her that last gift, because it made her so so happy.
I wish all mums had the same reactions that both her mother and mother in law had. They looked at her with such adoration and love. And even when she said she doesn’t like the one her mum picked her Mum was like, well okay I respect that, she to,d her daughter she looked beautiful but also respected the fact that she didn’t like it. And when she came out in the dress SHE loved her Mum was over the moon, smiling and crying because she saw her baby happy and smiling. Mums and Dads, your daughter’s opinion matters the most when it comes to her wedding day.
I came across this article, and like so many others I felt that I somehow knew Meredith personally by the end of the segment. When she said she was from Charlotte NC and was diagnosed with ocular melanoma, my heart sank. I knew she must have lived in Huntersville, where she and so many other people (especially young girls her age) in that particular area have been diagnosed with the same rare cancer in the last ten+ years. It’s a cancer cluster that is still allowed to continue on today. Being from a couple towns north of that area, it made me feel like I knew her that much more. Upon looking further into her life I was just as heartbroken as you all that she passed away at the age of 26. It makes you want to cry. She is an incredible woman who still touches people today, just from heaven as an angel. Thoughts and prayers to her family.
Oh man, I just saw this clip for the first time ever and wanted to look further into her story hoping to find a survival story on her cancer diagnosis. It made me cry even more to see that she didn’t make it. She only got to live two additional years after married life. Bless her precious soul and May her husband find that kind of true love again.
I was perusal this article and I really wanted to know how she is now! So I was about to add a comment “DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW SHE IS DOING NOW? ” But the first comment I read stated that she passed away! It really breaks my heart 🙁 ! Rest In Peace dearest Meredith💞💞Though we dont know each other, love you loads for your pure heart 🙂
Reason why i love the veraion of Atlanta is not because they somewhat give free dress ans give big discounts to their client, but they always made them feel loved and important.they valie their customers more than what they will gain from their sales. Lori, Monti, Robin and the rest of the Say Yes to The Dress Atlanta is such a good and emphatic service prpviders. ❤️❤️ More power to you all.
They are studying Huntersville, where Meredith lived. They have had a cluster of people, many young women, come up with the same ocular melanoma. This is something that usually effects men in their 60s and even then is extremely rare. Yet 3 young woman from the same high school were diagnosed. I can’t imagine an environmental factor that would cause cancer in the eye, except maybe the sun itself. It blows my mind. Great job Lori, you’re an amazing woman.
This article made me teary eyed… And then right when I go to the comments, those tears that I tried so hard to hold back just started coming out like crazy. My heart really hurts hearing that this sweet young lady had passed. I really hoped that her wedding was everything she had dreamed of, and that she was able to enjoy being a wife for the 16 months she had before she passed.
I have over ten scars on my upper body from 5 different cancer surgeries on my breasts and finally mastectomy’s. I also had a protruding port for 7uears and it never bothered me because those are my battle scars and maybe some day I won’t need it anymore. Stay strong, enjoy your life and never loose your sense of humor, it makes things easier on you and your family!
I love love Lori !! It’s s big thing she did. Dresses r very expensive and letting her have the dress she loves is so beautiful and very touching! I read on the internet that Meredith passed away a few days before her 27th birthday. She had her beautiful wedding and was positive about everything. I feel so upset and sad she passed away.Atleast she had the beautiful wedding!! My heart goes out to her Husband and Family!!!!
I’m so sad to hear that this lovely young woman was so full of hope and light passed away. When she said her cancer was a reoccurance and that she was going to FL for treatment, likely at Moffett Cancer Center my heart did drop though because I knew there was a good chance that her time was limited. I’m so glad she got this moment, though, and I hope she lived every moment she had to the fullest she could for as long as she could.
I am so sad today because my aunt has cancer and she did not want me to see her head shaved and my grandma showed me and my aunt got mad at my grandma. All I want to do is cry all day, I feel awful for my grandma 😭😭😭😭😭 this article feels like a sign that I did a bad thing for telling my aunt she looked good and she got mad at my grandma
