You inspire peace of mind when explaining this, I say it because its needed, this process is more confusing than difficult, if the marriage is legit and you read and follow the steps your interview will last 15 minutes, treat the process with respect and you will be fine, be over prepare if you can, the interviewer will appreciate you and it will be points up for you anyway….. good luck everyone .
Hi I will have my marriage green card interview on January 15th. However I am still concerning about not having the joint bank account with husband or putting my name on our apartment lease since I still haven’t received my SSN until now. I called the SSN office today and my SSN card was actually delivered to our mail since August but we never received it. Unfortunately, I have to do the replacement card by filing the SS-5 form and submit my EAD. I am just worried if they will able to return my EAD and process my SSN before my interview.
When it asks for their address on the marriage certificate do they put their address with you or the address of their home country? I mean technically that’s not their address because they are citizens of other countries but the intention in marriage ect is to get the status changed to be at your address with you correct? I mean I think they would put the other country address but after status change approval it would be our address. But they also want to know if you are living together as a married couple ect? So im really confused.
I was not approved until about 10 months after my interview. I think the officer was suspicious but could not, objectively, deny us. She however delayed her decision and requested proof that I was a beneficiary on his life insurance and added to his health insurance . Thank God I was ! It was the weirdest request I felt and designed to justify her refusing us.
Ok. I git a question. I would be more than happy if you’ll have a time to answer. My son is US citizen, his girlfriend lives in Uzbekistan, they are only met 2x. ( we are Muslim) He is in love, and wants to bring her over here (not married yet) how they will answer all those private questions if they don’t live together and they won’t up till wedding. What should we do and what form he supposed to fill out. Thank you!
Thank you. This gives me a better idea. I think we really need to get a translator if and when we get an interview. Especially if I am not allowed to translate. AOS application approved and waiting for scheduling since April. Hubs would like to take an English class but… We aren’t in CA and there’s a pandemic and we had a baby. 🤷🏼♀️ He can get by but not for complex/emotional situations like this.
I really need explanations to this I have used address which I leave in with my wife as a mailing address and a different address on my work place so on my W2 I HAVE THE SECOND ON IT TAX ON MY TAX RETURNS I HAVE ADDRESS ONE AS MAILING AND ADDRESS TWO AS LEAVING (SO NOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF MY FILING FOR MY US CITIZENSHIP IM MARRIED TO US CITIZEN AND ADDRESS ONE IS ON MY FILE I NEED HELP)I HAVE BEEN LEAVING WITH MY WIFE FOR TWO YEAR AND FILE LAST YEAR TAX AND THIS YEAR WITH THE SAME INFORMATION
My girlfriend lives in Italy and so do I. I overstayed my US tourist visa 19 years ago (so the 10 year ban is well expired). Last year, I applied for a tourist visa, it was unfairly denied (as if I’ve been banned for life). My gf went to the US twice in her life. She was born in the US (while her parents were visiting the US); she got US passport, her parents moved to Italy when she was a few weeks old. She’s been living in Italy her whole life. If we get married here in Italy, can she get me a Visa? so that I can visit the US with or without her. Or even better, can she get me a Green Card, although we live in Italy?
They received my packet on November 2, 2020, for my k1 visa they still have cashed the cashier’s check and I have not received notice of the i797 receipt. I call them and the automated system does not let me talk to an agent. What should I do? Do you do k1 visas let me know i will p ay the 5 and ask you the questions on the order. these are not the questions i want to ask.
thank u soo much for the information i had interview today and the officer was so nice and was okay for the answers. i am in Egypt and my wife had applied for me and sent the application before. before the interview, they asked for the alot of papers including the same like what my wife sent before. so after the interview, the officer gave me everything and the my passport is it normal?
It seems that this process is different now. I (the petitioner and husband) am instructed not to come to the interview, and the interview is a two day process. We have been married and living in Ecuador since being married and have been living in Ecuador. Apparently I will not be interviewed. Have you heard of this?
We had our marriage interview today and the agent stated my husband was listed as married in his visa application when he requested a tourist visa to America and it listed a female name. That is incorrect, my husband was never been married and I don’t know who or where that entry was made in error. The agent refused to show us the document in question. She did not confirm that information with the City Hall of my husband’s country nor did she ask us if we had proof of him being single prior to our marriage, which we did. His consolar ID issued 1 year prior to our marriage shows him as single. She did not approve our petition, she said she would contact us IF she needed additional documentation. Is the agent allowed to make a decision without a previous certificate of marriage and solely based in erroneous information on an application??? What can I do? Why did she refuse to show that to us? For all I know she could have made it up entirely. What can we do???
Hello. I hope someone could lead me towards the right path. My sister’s husband married her so he could come to the usa. Shes a usa citizen but currently living abroad and waiting for her husband to get a job and buy an apartment etc….. now she needs him but hes sort of backing off. They have been married for 3 years. And the number 1 biggest problem is that she was sort of a special child. Now an adult btw. If she was 100% normal, this wouldn’t be happening. So he basically used her. Is there anyway he can be deported?
What if you don’t celebrate holidays o.o or birthdays??? Growing up my family always celebrated holidays….I always hated celebrate Growing them though….too much going on…a xl I like peace and quiet…ive always been an introvert and like staying inside…me and my bf don’t celebrate holidays or birthdays…do you think they would think thats suspicious o.o ??
I love the laughing … make no mistake the United States immigrant system is completely broken. I am a US citizen married for 13 years, with no intention of settling in the United States with my wife. I have to work here so I can prepare to retire outside of this country. They will not even allow my wife who is a widow and my stepchildren who I have raised from a young and provided education to come and visit to see where I’m from? They will punish you with the process and not give a damn about it. They will eat your life time up and not care. This is at the same time that they hand out visas to Latinas like Hershey bars. My experience with immigration has been a nightmare. In order to see my family I must drop my job and fly around the globe. So as she is smiling and making, it seem like this little fun journey, believe me, it is not they will take your money in laugh in your face with a pink slip of rejection.
Well I have all the details and I don’t like it because I been with this man for years and just know he has 4 children with me and they just took pics and my children was not in them. He just moved but here with me I have all evidence now and I’m writing to all the immigration interviews watch.they just made account and my children have nothing I can go on and on. The holiday are coming up to and 3 children of our have birthdays I’m just sad because this is wrong.
I found this of no help whatsoever. My wife and I are both fully retired for several years, and with grown children. We dated for 3 years prior to marrying 2 1/2 years ago. Setting up joint accounts are not possible due to the tax implications. Your advice is applicable for younger people but worthless for blended family immigrants.
My marriage interview took 10 mins. The key is to turn in as much proof of mirrage joint bank accounts, insurance, photos. we got the interview 5 months when the paper work was sent didnt get work permit or anything before the interview. They ask us how we met, where was the first date and where in the house is the bedroom we stay at thats it. It Help our lawyer was present. It was approve and her green card showed up that same week. She got the the two year one than recently got the 10 year one. We sent proof again of our marriage and didnt geg ask for second interview.
I met a Thai woman back in 2019 and decided that we wanted to be a couple. I have made several trips back to be with her and we have spent about 210 days together and we tried to get married in Jan. 2013. She never was married, but had 2 children, one still under age and they would not let us marry until she cleared up custody and got a divorce. We finally got married on the 11th of Sept. 2023. We hired a law firm to help us and in Thailand we have been told that only my wife will be interviewed. The husband will most of the time will not be allowed to be present. We are filing a Spousal Visa as we speak with our law firm. I hope things go well with her interview,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Hi there, hope you’re doin great! I have already submit i-130/ i-130a online. I was doing the i-485 form, and notice some questions are same with i-130, can I do correction on i-485 or just leave them, so they will be same, for example, i need to add employment details and address outside USA, many thanks.
Can we file I-130 spousal now before our marriage? We are engaged and have decided we want to marry in her country (Philippines) so we can do it with her family. We did our Pamamanhikan (engagement) April 15th. I returned to the US to work. We are planning the wedding for this summer. Can I start the I-130 now?

not c.i.s. but the government of canada high commission in new delhi. yet more similarities than differences. essentially to seek out fraudulent relationships for the purpose of immigration benefits. so at my girls interview, it was one hour her only, one hour me only, and finally one hour the two of us together. definately had an ominous feeling, as ms.rahman noted, by the vibe i got from the visa officer. she seemed a bit unhappy in general and if i may so i continually had the feeling she had not gotten lucky during her stint in india and my own love story would be judged against that even if unintentionally. we had a long night previously on that rot-gut indian sauce not worthy of the name whiskey (not advised, actually better to party the night after, not before, this critical interview and to sleep seven hours the prior night.) i believe we cinched it in the final quetioning area during the last together hour. remember it like yesterday and it was more than ten years ago. offiicer stated: excuse me for such a personal question but can you tell me about the first time you were intimate.? i finished my answear with “and the most recent occassion was late last night.” now mind you i did not even have to be there…..was simply visiting her for three months when the interview email came mid-trip for her interview three days before my flight back to north america. i would otherwise have needed to be available on telephone but my physical presence in asia really supported the case.
